wait. my next fic should be on the theme "its not my fault, but its my responsibility"
and its just a fanfic of kaveh falling for a scam, alhaitham stopping him. kaveh and alhaitham fight about empathy or something. alhaitham very alhaithamly tries logical reasoning to someone very clearly upset that wants emotional support and not a lesson. alhaitham isnt running simulations all the time sometimes he short circuits. his directive to keep kaveh from doing dumb shit pierces through and he forgets hes not supposed to make decisions for a grown ass man. thats stealing autonomy and thats wrong. his own standards btw. mistake 1.
kaveh says something rude to him. alhaitham isnt particularly bothered because emotional people in compromised states tend to do that. he sees kaveh just storming off INSIDE their house and hears nothing heavy moving so no packing to leave, so alhaithams like whatever. kaveh was angry within normal parameters so its fine. the routine will continue.
kaveh unexpectedly has a flashback to their thesis fight and gets really sad and starts spiraling thinking he has irreparably done something to alhaitham again. self blame. good stuff.
alhaitham insight: he wasnt too bothered by the words that kaveh said to him in that fight. he was bothered by the fact that kaveh actually left. and then the words gained meaning after that action. alhaitham had already run the simulations and found that the words in that moment couldve varied but that outcome wouldve been the same. hes had like a decade to process that. every simulation he ran in that time. just to make sure. because that simulation, no matter how it hurt, kept kaveh alive in his memories. its not what looping does to you, but what it can do for you. haha. might as well take advantage of it. if its gonna torture you.
kaveh apologizes. alhaitham thinks its only a minor deviation from their routine and doesnt want it derailed it anymore. kaveh insists on apologizing. alhaitham gets irritated and tells him to drop it. mistake 2. kaveh goes quiet instead of getting louder
alhaitham starts processing because he cares about kaveh and knows he didnt get enough friction and now hes gonna wallow in guilt. so he starts planning the best and most subtle way to be an asshole to kaveh to snap him out of it before he passes the "i deserve it" threshold where he will add onto the blame if alhaitham is rude.
so basically race against time to calculate and execute. high stress. because he loves kaveh. hes voluntarily taking stress because he wants to fix this situation. because he can. because he cares. so he should. thats his morals. his standards. he doesnt care what people will say if they hear about this or what his friends will say. HIS MORALS, aka the ultimate binding factor. autonomy. hes free of any emotional blackmail or anything. but he wants to (remember to nail down hes choosing this)
keypoint: there is no "resolution". it just mutually fades after the routine is brought back into acceptable parameters and it can resume so it concludes.
keypoint 2: it is NOT kaveh's fault. emotion first types do that under high stress and his response is within reasonable bounds
keypoint 3: it is NOT alhaithams fault either. its just circumstance and two beyblades.
that fits my overall theme of exploring normal life. domestic spats are pretty normal.
#avo pls dont start now please please#i still havent done my script for my presentation later today#back to the theme of this fanfic.#yeah the biggest lesson in my life in regards to relationships was that sometimes being right is being wrong#id assume alhaitham already learned that from the thesis argument so this wont be a learning arc kinda fic. its more of application#of this core and very internalized lesson#ooooo this fic will be part 3 of my 'the other side of humanity' series#im so excited to write this but im not supposed to i have so much work#but i want to SO BAD#STOP ME#compelled to create and im the one jacking off to this I WIN IM SO BACK#its ambitious because i dont write long fic#because im stupid and i dont know how to handle multiple scenes in one story#but i want to give it a go

just curious, whatever happened 2 the warriors-inspired alterhuman art rpg?
TLDR: it’s just been on the back burner & I was very dissuaded from tumblr alterhuman spaces
With all the super regular discourse I was seeing on my feed + a deteriorating mental health- I sort of just logged out for a bit & have only recently logged in here & stayed here for more than a few hours
I’d still like to do the OtherClan project, but it was going to be a lot of work for a community I wasn’t able to find much peace in for a bit. I think for now it’ll probably stay on the back burner until I can make more friends in these spaces to help me run the project- cause I wanted it to have a lot of fun stuff
But it would be a lot of mental & emotional fuel that I simply don’t have to run solo rn
#ik I could probably open staff apps for the project; but I’d rather pick staff i know a bit better than just through an application#its still on my mind though#I want to create for this community & bring positivity n connection to it#even if its not how i initially planned or hoped#alternatively I just- really simplify the project#I’ve actually also been learning a TON about running art projects like that while I’ve been away!#I think I can optimize the project better in future attempts :]!!

Day 23: What is your favorite type of whump setting?
in terms of temporal setting, I really enjoy present day stuff - I enjoy the familiarity of the setting, and in terms of writing I don’t have to constantly google shit like ‘when was the cotton ball invented’ (real thing I’ve actually done). that being said, I do also like historical, particularly wartime, situations. anything pre-1900 is usually a bit too early for me though - I like some degree of modernity. favorite historical time periods for me include WWII and the cold war.
going for place, I like urban settings most of all. back alleys where the whumpee gets beaten up out of sight of passerby, bustling streets for them to stumble through with a gunshot wound hidden beneath their jacket, abandoned buildings to explore or be tortured in, cars to be hit by, the list goes on. I generally love any setting that feels real, and cities are so good at that. they’re gritty and dark at the right times, but they’re also places where whumpee & friends live and work and exist, yknow?
#whumpmasinjuly2023#wij23day23#in general I just love realism#give me all the little details - I love stuff where you can tell the creator researched the where and when (if applicable)#like. show me the whumpee exists here. you feel me?#idk I’m also just obsessed with cities and urbanity in general I just fucking love how places are so important#(is literally taking a course on this in the fall)#and for time most stuff I consume is modern (or modern for when it was created) but I love historical stuff just as much.#can be harder to write sometimes but I can’t lie sometimes I do love researching when the cotton ball was invented#i say things

h*zbin’s tackling of sin is so underwhelming… 😪
#Welcome to heaven’s message is so easily applicable to anything in how it approaches the subject#which *could* be a plus for variety - but it winds up losing the weight it deserved#because it dances around actually defining what sin is to it’s world and characters.#“Sin” as a concept has almost always been used as a means of controlling popular habits#leading to deductions of what constitutes as right and wrong that appeals to pre-existing bias you already have.#for example; it’s very popular to cast eve as irrevocably malicious for offering the fruit to adam#There’s an “othering” of eve that isn’t extended as much towards adam - perpetuating a higher standard for women to constantly#observe themselves and eachother — filling in for an omnipresent gaze or else be made into an “eve” - someone who invites her misfortune 😬#There’s an implication of sin as a tool to “legitimize” the angels’ role in gatekeeping* heaven from “sinners”#which could create conflict over how much of original word of god was preserved -if it was tweaked time and time to sustain this narrative#so it no longer makes sense to the younger generation - who would’ve grown up with humanity and known it’s good too …#but it conflicts with how barren it’s worldbuilding is when it intends to contextualize sin.#It’s barely of any consequence to begin with. Just think back on how Hell is often compared to a slightly more hostile earth.#could it be… this is by design … will the show abolish the concept of sin altogether … that would be so funny omg#as usual - if ur a h*zbin fan or hater stumbling upon this - don’t cite my words as gospel 🫥 i’m just rambling my mind off

god it is so fucking hard to get high quality anything these days. you used to always be able to find it, it was just a matter of whether you could afford it. now it's like companies have realized that pushing out high quantities of slop is so much more profitable than making good stuff that they simply do not offer good stuff anymore.
#gay and obscure nonsense#this is about both physical goods and about any service that's had AI added to it in some way ://///#can't fucking stand how companies shove AI into everything they can just to save $ on employees and get in on the hype#even though it's Not ready for most of the applications they want to use it for and universally creates a Worse customer experience

Cybercriminals are abusing Google’s infrastructure, creating emails that appear to come from Google in order to persuade people into handing over their Google account credentials. This attack, first flagged by Nick Johnson, the lead developer of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), a blockchain equivalent of the popular internet naming convention known as the Domain Name System (DNS). Nick received a very official looking security alert about a subpoena allegedly issued to Google by law enforcement to information contained in Nick’s Google account. A URL in the email pointed Nick to a sites.google.com page that looked like an exact copy of the official Google support portal.
As a computer savvy person, Nick spotted that the official site should have been hosted on accounts.google.com and not sites.google.com. The difference is that anyone with a Google account can create a website on sites.google.com. And that is exactly what the cybercriminals did. Attackers increasingly use Google Sites to host phishing pages because the domain appears trustworthy to most users and can bypass many security filters. One of those filters is DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail), an email authentication protocol that allows the sending server to attach a digital signature to an email. If the target clicked either “Upload additional documents” or “View case”, they were redirected to an exact copy of the Google sign-in page designed to steal their login credentials. Your Google credentials are coveted prey, because they give access to core Google services like Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Google Maps, Google Play, and YouTube, but also any third-party apps and services you have chosen to log in with your Google account. The signs to recognize this scam are the pages hosted at sites.google.com which should have been support.google.com and accounts.google.com and the sender address in the email header. Although it was signed by accounts.google.com, it was emailed by another address. If a person had all these accounts compromised in one go, this could easily lead to identity theft.
How to avoid scams like this
Don’t follow links in unsolicited emails or on unexpected websites.
Carefully look at the email headers when you receive an unexpected mail.
Verify the legitimacy of such emails through another, independent method.
Don’t use your Google account (or Facebook for that matter) to log in at other sites and services. Instead create an account on the service itself.
Technical details Analyzing the URL used in the attack on Nick, (https://sites.google.com[/]u/17918456/d/1W4M_jFajsC8YKeRJn6tt_b1Ja9Puh6_v/edit) where /u/17918456/ is a user or account identifier and /d/1W4M_jFajsC8YKeRJn6tt_b1Ja9Puh6_v/ identifies the exact page, the /edit part stands out like a sore thumb. DKIM-signed messages keep the signature during replays as long as the body remains unchanged. So if a malicious actor gets access to a previously legitimate DKIM-signed email, they can resend that exact message at any time, and it will still pass authentication. So, what the cybercriminals did was: Set up a Gmail account starting with me@ so the visible email would look as if it was addressed to “me.” Register an OAuth app and set the app name to match the phishing link Grant the OAuth app access to their Google account which triggers a legitimate security warning from [email protected] This alert has a valid DKIM signature, with the content of the phishing email embedded in the body as the app name. Forward the message untouched which keeps the DKIM signature valid. Creating the application containing the entire text of the phishing message for its name, and preparing the landing page and fake login site may seem a lot of work. But once the criminals have completed the initial work, the procedure is easy enough to repeat once a page gets reported, which is not easy on sites.google.com. Nick submitted a bug report to Google about this. Google originally closed the report as ‘Working as Intended,’ but later Google got back to him and said it had reconsidered the matter and it will fix the OAuth bug.
