Repression: When is Happiness Become a Mask?

Kehidupan manusia memiliki dua komponen penting yang sering terjadi dalam sebuah masa hidup manusia. Dua komponen tersebut adalah kebahagiaan dan kesedihan. Ketika cita-cita, harapan, kebutuhan, atau keinginan yang ada dalam diri bisa tercapai, akan muncul peristiwa kebahagiaan yang terjadi dalam hidup. Namun, ketika semua yang kita inginkan tidak bisa tercapai dan terlaksana dengan baik, akan mengalami kesedihan.

Terkadang, kita menutupi sebuah emosi negatif karena pengalaman-pengalaman kesedihan terjadi pada saat-saat kita harus menampilkan diri sebagai pribadi yang positif. Seringkali, emosi yang seharusnya diluapkan ini menjadi terpendam dalam diri. Biasanya, pemendaman emosi ini akan disimpan dalam memori bawah sadar pada otak manusia. Dalam ilmu psikologi, usaha psikologis seseorang untuk meredam keinginan, hasrat, atau instingnya sendiri disebut sebagai represi atau repression. 

Represi ini seringkali secara tidak sadar kita lakukan untuk memenuhi norma sosial yang tidak memperbolehkan kita meluapkan ekspresi secara bebas. Jika terjadi secara terus-menerus, layaknya sebuah wadah yang ditambahi beban tanpa diupgrade kapasitasnya, peristiwa-peristiwa yang direpresi ini akan meledak dengan berbagai cara yang tidak kita sadari. Bisa dikatakan bahwa jika seseorang terlalu banyak melakukan represi, kesehatan mental dan kondisi psikologisnya dapat mendapatkan ancaman suatu saat nanti. 

Beberapa orang melakukan represi dari peristiwa yang tidak menyenangkan dan menutupinya dengan sebuah kebahagiaan, sehingga ia tetap merasa bahwa dirinya baik-baik saja. Beberapa orang mengatakan bahwa ketika seseorang selalu terlihat bahagia didepan orang lain, ada dua kemungkinan yang terjadi dalam dirinya yaitu memang ia orang yang positif dan ada perasaan yang mengganggu namun tidak bisa ia utarakan dengan menangis atau bersedih. Kebahagiaan yang ditunjukkan pada semua orang ini seringkali digunaka sebagai “topeng” untuk menutupi segala permasalahnnya. Padahal, jauh didalam hati dan pikirannya, ia menyimpan kesedihan mendalam.

Bagaimana cara menanggulanginya?

Satu hal yang harus dilakukan yaitu dengan melakukan manajemen emosi dengan baik. Kita tahu kapan saatnya meluapkan emosi, kepada siapa, dan bagaimana cara meluapkan emosi tersebut. Jangan takut untuk menceritakan permasalahan yang dialami kepada orang lain yang dirasa mampu untuk membantu memecahkan permasalahanmu atau bahkan seseorang yang bisa menenangkanmu, itu akan lebih baik untuk kesehatan mentalmu.

①not have deep relationships

It's simple. U don't have to try him/her.

②be silly
