setting down the pencil, he presses the clip at the top of the drawing board to release the paper. with careful fingers he holds it up and blows on it lightly before turning it around to show the other with a beaming smile.  ‘ ta-da ! ’  he reveals a rough caricature of the person opposite him, just a practice run until he officially opens up shop in half an hour when the brew’s festivities officially begin. he even rushed over from his last final to get into costume as the WORLD’S TALLEST ELF and set up his station.  ‘ do you like it ? ’  he asks eagerly,  ‘ i can clean up the lines a little but i wanted to show you first. ’

the atmosphere was bright – christmas music playing in the background, strangers with their loved ones gathering inside, exchanging hugs, smiles, words, the staff catching zero breaks. it clearly was the season. hyun-jae didn’t notice it herself as her stare lingered a bit too long on one of the faces which seemed oddly familiar. she sighed, continuing on adding some more details to her almost finished gingerbread house. although the noise was heavy, hyun-jae felt footsteps stopping, and afterwards, someone’s heavy breathing tingling her neck. she didn’t turn around to face them. “if you’re here to get competitive, just a slight warning: you most likely stand no chance. i’ve won the most unique gingerbread house several times in a row when i was about 15.” her lips curled into a smile.
