I feel that if you read my fic He Stings Like He Means It one chapter after the other with little to no pause, you can tell I just slowly transformed to the point where the characters possessed me

The first chapter is short and it feels like I just watched the movie and felt the need to do something about it

Then it evolves into "the characters are speaking through me, I am simply a vessel, I make no decisions in this journey"

Granada Apartment

For your random pleasure today, we have Lore from the "He Stings Like He Means It" fic-verse. When the boys moved to Granada, our beloved author @iamgalicia needed to visualize what their apartment looked like in order to describe all the scenes taking place there. Because I have been drawing floorplans since even before the Sims existed, I decided to throw together a little mock up using RoomSketcher. From the first draft, we tweaked it until it matched the authorial mental image as close as possible.

Obviously, the furnishing and finishing options in this program are quite limited (I'm not paying for a premium version when all I want is to create a blorbo apartment), but I used what was available to give a very rough idea of what their place might look like.

Living Room:

Please imagine that cat figurine on the shelf is actually their stuffed raven, staring at Alex when he walks in the door.

Mental Images: Nigel falling asleep on the couch where Alex finds him when he gets home from work. Alex searching for news articles about himself on the laptop. Nigel playing the piano as Alex watches and listens.

Kitchen:

Knives, tea kettle, and I threw in a moka pot for Alex to make coffee in.

Mental Image: Imagine Alex sitting and watching Nigel clean his crab carcass collected from the beach.

Bedroom:

Mental Images: Nigel and Alex getting even more sweaty when their AC is broken. Alex simping over Nigel as he gets dressed for work. Them having hot post-Enzo-ass-beating sex.

Office/Spare Room:

I put an iPod and a microscope on the desk. For reasons.

Mental Images: Nigel's sketches pinned to the walls. Nigel sitting on the floor drawing like mad as he tries to remember the summer that he and Alex first encountered each other. Alex and Lisa going through the book collection when he gets an ominous call from Nigel.

Bathroom:

Mental Image: Alex washing Enzo's blood off his hands. Nigel sitting with his back against the door wrestling with his demons. BOYS IN A BATHTUB.

Balcony:

Mental Images: Nigel tending his flowers. Alex chain smoking as he tries to figure out how to tell Nigel his plans, and not using the ashtray on the table.

How it All Fits Together:

Top of this plan corresponds with north, so the living room and bedroom face east, and the balcony side faces west.

ohhhhh you’re in for it. thats a good one. i think about it probably daily. genuinely could NOT get over the fic when i read it so i had to draw this just for the hyperfixation induced nausea to leave.

reading like minds fanfic is humbling bcs i quickly realize how little i understood alex and nigel. Authors connect with the characters in a way that surpasses my understanding and i love it
