Christmas Shelter Pet #1: Brody Brody is a 3.5 year old mixed breed boy who is most likely a combination of Boxer/Hound/Lab and maybe even something else! On June 11th a Midland County Citizen brought in 2 dogs that were found on the side of the road within Midland County. Those dogs were brought into the HSoMC shelter and then immediately rushed to M-20 Veterinary Hospital. Both dogs had suffered injuries consistent with those that would be inflicted by another dog(s). The dogs we’ve named “Darling” and “Denise”. “Denise” although covered with bite wounds is going to survive her attack. “Darling” is still fighting for her life at the Veterinary Hospital. “Darling” had her back end attacked, has a fracture in her pelvis, a fracture in her fibula and deeply infected bite wounds as a result. She herself lost teeth trying to defend herself from the attack unsuccessfully. She was also found to have several old wounds from previous attacks. The wounds were badly infected by the time we got the dogs and her body severely weakened from trying to survive. Her odds are 50-50 right now and we are asking for the public’s help. As a 100% nonprofit we rely on the kindness of the public to help us help these animals. Donations are desperately needed as “Darlings” veterinary expenses are high, after care for both dogs is needed as well and we need your help to save these deserving dogs. We also need the public’s help to identify the dogs, if they were lost from a person before this and any information on who may have allowed these dogs to sustain these injuries. Snowy has now been with us since April 26th, and it is growing harder each day for our staff to manage her insulin properly. SNOWY NEEDS A HERO! She will do well in most homes with the proper intro and adjustment period. She's good with other pets and children! Each week, we welcome people from Midland County who are in need of assistance with food for their dogs and cats, and our pantry is dangerously low on supplies! We just don't get it...Peyton is a dog that everyone loves...so why hasn't he found a home?! He's now been with us for a month, and he was with Saginaw for over 6 months before that! We know there has to be a loving home for this boy out there! Peyton is a mutt, probably a mixture of Pit Bull, Hound, Lab, Boxer...take your pick!
