The hulusi is a Chinese free reed wind instrument. The hulusi has 3 bamboo pipes, one melody pipe, one drone pipe, and another non functional pipe for visual symmetry. The drone pipe can be open and closed by foam lids. The hulusi’s melody pipe has the same fingerings of the similar instrument, the bawu

I bought a cool looking flute at the thrift store!

Now that I've disinfected the mouthpiece and confirmed that it does indeed make noise, I did some Googling and it's called a Hulusi!

Mine is obviously cheaply made, and neither of the drone pipes seem to actually work, but I do like the noise it makes and I'm not a good or even decent flute player anyway so I don't need anything fancy.

Part of me is curious if there's a way to fix the drone pipes, but I also don't want to risk breaking it.

All in all, it's a fun little addition to my instrument collection.
