sure! i can’t say a ton here though because the lurkers will Find Me (ray. ray ily /p but you cannot have spoilers)

hypercluster is a roleplay server i started up a few years ago. i kinda wanted to go for a liminal space/surrealism type of vibe with it and ended up fleshing out some lore around that. it’s not super active nowadays but the plot is still progressing inch by inch. we’re getting there. trust.

the hypercluster itself is a planet(?) that’s basically comprised of a bunch of different fractures of different worlds. sometimes people were on these fractures when they were assimilated, other times people just randomly spawn in. there’s a whole in-universe explanation but that’s the gist. anyways, currently all people know is that there are some weird wires that are infecting peoples brains somehow and seem to be implanting certain thoughts and impulses. also there are these scary shadow monsters that seem intent to kill anything that moves except they’re actually kinda chill and trying to stop the spread of those wires. i’ll list some of the general important characters here (that are known) as well as other ones i personally like. some of these characters belong just to this rp server, others are either not specific to this or have some complicated jazz goin on. more under cut btw

The Princess - that’s what she originally went by. affectionately nicknamed “genevieve” by desdemona who thought she should have an actual name. worships an all-powerful creator. who that is or what they created? not all that clear! her, apparently! not the most sympathetic or empathetic person, but she has a few people she cares about deeply. usually she’s very collected and it’s hard to read her emotions, but when she’s temperamental it’s very clear. past seems to be a little shrouded in mystery. no longer talking to desdemona because there was a whole incident with barnaby and desdemona not realizing she never cleared out arden’s room and assuming it was okay for barnaby to stay there.

Desdemona - one of the longest survivors of hypercluster out of those “brought” there. responsible for a small colony of people kind of just stowing away in a once abandoned building. she works hard to keep that community safe and running. she was also a really good friend of the princess’s. currently trying to figure out what the “creator’s” real motive was because they. are not on good terms right now after her split with genevieve. thinks it’s been manipulating the both of them and wants to find a weakness.

Arden - former lover of the princess. originally called the Servant, but embraced the name desdemona gave to them. their death is an extremely touchy subject with the princess however it’s kinda clear she’s not being. the most truthful about whatever the hell happened to them.

Vian - you know him! this is his canon future. torment nexus. he’s just struggling to survive here honestly. keeps being plagued by the Visions and has come to the horrific realization that his body barely works anymore (digestive organs just straight up Don’t work. he cannot eat anything.) and is kinda having an overall not good time. the voices!!!

ok onto characters that are not mine

- Amitie. dating the princess! girl got her arm yanked off by a purger that kinda mysteriously got sucked into the earth itself. she’s also not having the best time but she has a new girlfriend and lives in a castle and what more could you want. what more could you want!! (rays character @/silliestlo)

- Grenadier. also living in the castle! other partner of amitie’s. the princess doesn’t seem to like them that much (more neutral than dislike). also they got like randomly kidnapped by the purgers so they could like. dig out the wires. it worked. supposedly. so they’re totally fine now. a little freaked out though because what the fuck do you mean everyone has wires in their brain. it is a miracle if they survive honestly. (rays character as well)

- Barnaby. sort of somehow ended up as a servant to the princess. she didn’t like him very much. he let a child he was supposed to be watching DIE (she’s fine she just snuck out, got attacked, and ran off with her friend)!!!! and ruined her tragic ex yuri lover’s ROOM!!!! and MESSED UP HER FRIENDSHIP WITH DESDEMONA!!!! and the house is still fucking dirty (all things out of his control)!!! person recently came by and just basically Dragged him away. also him and person r the same species. important note there. (@/papercutzo’s character)

- Person. seemingly the only one that can enter and leave as he pleases! sort of a god. who knows. he’s honestly just doing diplomatic trade and shit here. plus the vian torment. the vian torment is important. that man is so psychologically cooked. (also paper’s character)

- Static. random op teenager employed by the princess to basically genocide the purgers. when he failed she kinda lowkey just left him to die since she was in the middle of a date. he’s still expected to do his job though because he literally Cannot Get Home unless he does. according to her. and he sort of came from a situation that Needs Him There. chosen one type shit /pos (zack’s (doesn’t have a tumblr) character)

there are waaay more but i’m just goin over the more recent and important plot points. i could also mention robin, nightfall, lucille, jon arbuckle garfield universe, emile, etc etc. but ya :)

yes this was going to happen eventually. eventually is now. this subfamily makes up over 10% of all deep sea fish! it’s very difficult to talk about an entire family of 300 fish in one post so i will just go into the pacific grenadier! they can live very long lives which… is really surprising for a fish. that can’t only be weird to me right.

anyway this guy has big ol eyes that just scream 🥺. they scavenge and they are very slow and weird. also apparently they’re good food but i’m not a seafood guy so it’s not important to me. they take a very long time to grow and can withstand low-oxygen environments and can basically just go wherever they want. nothing matters to this guy. just goes anywhere it wants.

i LOVE how weird they are. look at those eyes that do not fit. they are for something but i can’t find a reliable source with What they are for. it is so weird! this guy is so weird! i love this guy! anyway their name comes from a soldier with grenades in medieval times i think. they had pointy hats and it looks like the fish have pointy hats so here is a grenadier fish! i need these guys to be learned about more.
