I'm curious (and sorry if you've answered this before), but I see several of your fics reference hzgg 3. What's your thought on that series?

Haha this blog is not quite that active anymore but I try.

I had...a lot of thoughts about hzgg3. I didn't entirely hate the idea of Zhi Hua, but I hate the way it was executed, mostly the whole "Yongqi abandons his child" thing at the end. Most of my fanfics had been written as a coping mechanism to how much I hate that ending. I think if you read my fics in the order they were written (which are not the order they're necessarily posted online) you can probably trace all five stages of grief I went through with the end of hzgg3. I don't know what I can say about it now that I haven't already said in my fics.

Though to be fair, I thought I hated hzgg3, but then I (tried to) watch the remake. We don't talk about it.

Post Zhen Huan induced Huan Zhu Ge Ge 3 thoughts

Rewatching other Qing dynasty dramas (cough Zhen Huan cough even though it's hardly the most accurate Qing dynasty drama out there) made me realize how much I am still truly puzzled as to why Lao Fo Ye would be so eager to promote Zhi Hua, of all people.  Like yes, Zhi Hua does have all the things that are valued, but she doesn't really have that much of a political backing? As in her family isn't particularly powerful banners family and all.  Like if she was a member of Lao Fo Ye's clan, or one of the 8 banners, it would have made more sense why Lao Fo Ye wanted the marriage so badly and would resort to basically blackmail?

Basically, TL;DR wishing Chen Zhi Hua was Niuhuru Zhi Hua or something.

Gotta rewatch HZGG3.

Unpopular opinion: I thoroughly enjoyed HZGG3 as a kid , watched this front to back on VHS 2003-2004 from basically because it was one of the last VHS dramas we had. Also, at the time I was too young (dumb) to realize this was a sequel to part 1 and 2 (I distinctly remember going "didn't we borrow this set already" the day we hauled the boxes in front of the tv)

Blurbs before I rewatch:

my fav was always er kang. he already had a big boy job when yongqi/er tai/xiao yan zi were still in school. he was an ADULT. also 周杰 is one of the few actors to this day that i can fully understand without subtitles??! 台词功底棒棒哒

So HunanTV has been rerunning Huan Zhu Ge Ge every year around lunar new year for the last 20 years or so, barring a few years of the whole Yu Zheng Qiong Yao plagiarism mess. This year, HunanTV has decided to rerun Huan Zhu Ge Ge 3 instead, predictably to many people’s displeasure. 

Why have they decided to suddenly rerun the notoriously unpopular season 3 that no one wants to acknowledge exist, let alone rewatch? Because it is the only season that Fan Bing Bing doesn’t appear in, and apparently everything with Fan Bing Bing is now banned. 

Which...well, hardly shocking. But I just wonder why pull HZGG off now when FBB’s saga has been on going for so long? Is this reactionary to her appearing in some magazine shoots lately? Is it some sort of “reminder” to her/the industry in general that she’s still in disgrace in case someone somewhere decides to give her a chance at a come back?

In the grand scheme of things, it probably doesn’t matter that much, since it’s not like if you really want to watch HZGG you can’t find it online (unless they decide to scrub all online traces of it as well???? I mean they have been pulling loads of popular shows offline...). But still, tradition is tradition and yeah, no wonder lots of people are pissed off.
