‘’I dunno about that… there’s gotta be somethin’ else there… maybe it’s the money? He makes way more than she does, right? Maybe that’s what it is.’’ Austin mimicked Xavier’s shrug, and it took every ounce of self-control within Xavier to not visibly cringe at Theory’s next string of words.

‘’Maybe she’s doing me a favor in staying away. Maybe she’s just one of those usual ringrats who are just after the exposure. The money and fame that comes with being associated with a top star…’’ Theory shrugged again as Xavier just took a second to gawk at his co-worker’s audacity.

And to gawk at Jimmy and Jey- and a seething Roman- who were all standing right behind Theory, having heard every last word that came out of his big-ass mouth.

‘’Heyyy, Woods! Austin! How yall doin? You good?... Ey, Austin! Why don’t you repeat what you just told my boy Woods here?’’ Jimmy greeted them, not giving either of them a second to muster up a coherent response and daring Austin to repeat his cruel and misogynistic words.

The second Austin turned around to face who he thought was just Jimmy, the twins watched him go ghostly pale at the sight of their cousin ready to pounce.

‘’You got two seconds to apologize for what you just said.’’ Roman said.

He wasn’t that much taller than Austin, but right now, Austin may as well have been a toddler.

Austin said nothing, so Roman continued, walking closer to the other man.

‘’Let’s get one thing straight- first of all, my girl ain’t ‘’associated with a top star’’-‘’ Roman said, mimicking Austin’s voice with exaggerated air quotes.

‘’- she is a top star. You know why? Because she works her ASS off for everything she’s got, and she doesn’t stand around here runnin’ her mouth like you tend to do because you seem to think you got a permanent spot here… second of all- and I want you to pay attention closely when I say this-… Imma make you regret calling my girl what you just called her. You understand me? Imma make you regret it for the rest of your fuckin’ life. And if I catch you running your mouth again- hell, if I catch you breathing in her direction- you’re gone. Do you understand me?’’ Roman said.

To anyone else watching from afar it seemed as if Roman and Austin were just having a friendly chat what with the pleasant smile on Roman’s face.

But from where they were standing, Austin and Xavier could see the coldness and anger in Roman’s eyes.

It just about made Austin piss his tights.

‘’He asked you a question.’’ Jey said to Austin after the Georgia native continued to gawk in terror.

‘’…Understood.’’ Austin finally answered and he nodded once while he tried not to back down from Roman’s firm eye contact and the twins.
