I've been seeing the whole Cyprus thing reaction and I'm curious about something, all your oc have been comfort characters, even if not for you, with comfort in mind I imagine, and while Yves is the epitomy of perfect comfort Cyprus is an interesting different angle, while harsh, the idea about breaking out of the day to day routine and, as you said, a tale bout beating addictions, the last takes seemed harsh

you said he was an attention grab project for you, and clearly you succeeded but now want to just throw him out, putting some traits that make someone unlikable pretty easy and then doubling down so there's no doubt, and the reactions I've seen of 'i can't believe I liked him' 'i drew him' and so on, I get it, while he wasn't what I imagined from the first chapter, he had some somewhat redeemable traits, but now it feels like someone pulled the rug

As in even if you personally didn't liked him anymore, or ever, I thought you would let him fade for a while, like your other 1st gen oc, for lack of interest about writing for them, all of this to ask why is that? I'm not criticizing, I love all your works, been here for a long while and still hooked as the first day

I mean is your character, you can say he is whatever and since he is yours well then that's canon, as I said I'm just surprised of how vilified he's been made recently

ykno how this blog is basically copium for me and i use it as like a comforting teddy bear. But another lesser known use for this website is something to help me process and make sense of the shittiness of the world

So actually all my ocs has at least some component that's strongly inspired by people in my life, like Yves- exaggerated traits that i liked in my parents and friends, Blanche- exaggerated traits that i liked in my grandma etc etc so these are the comfort side

the thing is Cyprus is always meant to be this way from the beginning 😭😭😭the source material being all the things i hated about my dad, the machoness, coerciveness, bigotry, tough love upbringing on his kids and all that jazz, the stuff that made me go ouch for many years- so cyprus isn't even a fictional character anymore like my 1st gen ocs, its literally a retelling of what i disliked the most about my father and trying to make it palatable enough to innoculate myself from the real thing- but Cyprus is just gross to me

The true nasty side of him wasn't revealed early on bcasye,ykno,,,, i love and want clout 👉👈,,,, there were a couple of asks about his view on kids, i already had that piece written out but i waited to post it only when its confirmed he's the most popular one. I was going to scare away a lot of people if I just go high octane piece of shit on him

I truly loved my 1st gen ocs, they bring me a hella ton of comfort but like it isn't as effective as Yves, I will be churning out more and more ocs just to chase that high or relief from da horrors of da world. So i just let them fade a way and go into a comatose state (me not writing about them) because i still do wanna revisit them one day and i do not want them to go out in pain and hated

Gonna be honest with you chief idk wtf is Cyprus to me now, like he is not giving me comfort in a traditional sense like Yves or Blanche, or Yan big brother, but he STILL is giving me a sense of like relief and catharsis by letting me write him into this asshole im having to face irl, like i converted an attention grab to another one of my copium- when Cyprus was in his like golden problem child phase where everyone likes him except the author, he wasn't copium, dude

only after i vilified him (and received a bunch of horrified responses and a couple of hate asks as a result) did he do something to make me feel good, like Yves level good but in the opposite direction, like the Yin to Yves's Yang of comfort

Like i definitely will still write about Cyprus, he's just the black sheep of the comfort family and even tho i do joke a lot about this being an attempt to remove as much of my reader's favour for him so i can just eradicate him without a lot of uproar, its never really the case. Cyprus is transformed to another outlet for me to express my thoughts and feelings about stuff i fuckin hate irl but will have to face regularly [i will slow down on the cyprus posting tho cause i am going back to Yves as like a knee jerk reflex]

Cyprus was meant to be hated, but with how the world works, there will be people who still love him and take him in as their wet rat. So i wouldn't say that he's my most unpopular oc after i fleshed out the shit side of him, just the most divisive one- he's like fuckin vegemite, you either hate him with a burning passion or love him and want to slob on his knob

some closing thoughts after this 2-months long adventure revisiting Yugioh 5D's..

I feel like I finally could enjoy this show as it's supposed to be enjoyed and it probably has to do with the fact that I'm more mature now (also finally able to get the full hd experience 🤣) and there's a fun thing about having a dogshit working memory: to be able to experience this show almost as if it was the first time again 😊 I can't recall when was the last time I watched it but it was probably close to 8-10 years ago 🤣

some loathed characters became favorites - I was avoiding this show like the plague because Jack Atlas was just......... so bad for past me 🤣🤣🤣 - well it turns out his peacock personality and overpowering sex appeal worked on me 🙄 Thanks I hate it 🤣💜

some characters I paid no attention before became favorites, too: Rex Godwin have my whole heart and I am so sad he died.. man why do my favorites always die huh huh???? 😭 get me out of here with this shit......... also, Rua (Lua) is the sweetest little guy and I was so damn excited for him because he's just so goddamn cool?!??1 Wtf!! Also most the "villains" since I'm built different and villains are my weak spot 🤣

my favorites are still my favorites so it was a delight to go back to them and love them even more, and see them in a different way than before

have to confess I did not remember him much so I kind of went on blind and, fuck me, he became one of my favs and do I even risk to say he IS my favorite character in this show?!!?? I could talk about this and about him for days but the long story short is that he checked all the boxes for me and pressed all the right buttons too and then he died too because of fucking course he died and I cried like fuck my life dude. That was so devastating... definitely want to give this show another go soon just so I can watch Bruno again. We have never had another character as cool and interesting as him in the franchise

as is tradition in YGOs, 5Ds started getting much better by the end, but it was very solid all over (except that arc full of fillers, it was annoying as hell because the episodes were not good), Crash Town was fun, and the last two arcs (WRGP and Ark Cradle) were very good

overall.. I think I'd bump 5Ds all the way up, becoming my second favorite YGO (guess it was in 4th place before?), because Zexal takes the podium FOR NOW, we'll see when I rewatch it and just how that will go XD

What is your favorite What's New Scooby Doo episode?

I love this question but it’s also so! difficult! for me to pick. I’m indecisive by nature and WNSD really is one of the shows I hold closest to my heart but here goes:

I’m really partial to Safari So Goodi. I absolutely love Jacko and Scooby as a duo and I think I have a lot of nostalgia for the environment of that episode. I was big into Diego as a kid and animals in general so I really love the setting in that one. Also “one feeds the pocket, the other feeds the soul” has always stuck with me.

I also have a big soft spot for Reef Grief. I think it has one of the strangest villain motivations (or just villains in general, his methods were also pretty bizarre). The coral monster twist is also interesting to me. I’ve always thought What’s New and the WNSD era in general had a really special way of juggling the unknown/supernatural. Episodes were usually neatly wrapped up with the entities being proven as fakes but episodes like Reef Grief, A Scooby Doo Halloween, and movies like Loch Ness Monster always hinted that there was more out there in the world, beyond the understanding and awareness of our five leads.

Riva Ras Regas is also a lot of fun. I adore Rufus <3. The villain in that one is a blast. I seriously love Phylidia and I think as an audience it’s easy to understand where she’s coming from and to feel for her. Like the shows before it, WNSD was never afraid to make their villains sympathetic or even redeemable and I think that always made the show more interesting to watch and to revisit as an adult.

A Terrifying Round With a Menacing Metallic Clown is another one I don’t think I could exclude from a list of my favorites. The way it plays with the traditional formula by swapping Shaggy and Velma’s usual roles is a lot of fun. It also has plenty of tender moments between the Gang (which I love!!) as they show their concern for Velma. The nod to APN is also pretty cute as well as the backstory as a whole (they bought her encyclopedias 😭). Also shoutout to the villain design in that ep!

Some briefer mentions would be Homeward Hound (you can’t go wrong with Caregiver!Scooby) with The Secret 6 being really adorable. I’m also just in love with Meadow (her design, her voice, her vibe, everything). A Block Long Hong Kong Terror (love Mei Ling and the chase sequence of that episode). All the holiday specials (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine) deserve recognition as well. I think Black Jack Brody might have one of the darkest backstories in WN (or maybe that honor goes to the San Franpyscho??) and I sing Heavy Trevy’s “Santa Claus, Santa Claus” year round.

I don’t know if there’s a WNSD episode I don’t have some love for. It’s one of my fav series and I’d honestly list every other episode as an honorable mention. I think an argument could be made for any episode to come out on top of the others.

ahhh okay my honest opinion of this card is that i wish there was more tension/angst/drama to the story. obviously the visuals are gorgeous, but aside from that, this could almost be an SR...? we learn a few things about Svart lore (history/traditions), and a few new things about vyn, but really not as much as you’d expect, considering our settin. maybe this was the writers trying to show a different, not-angsty way that vyn can interact w Svart-related things? gah, i felt this way w revisiting youth as well, where i figured that anything that felt a bit off to me was the writers trying to show a different of vyn, but then i couldn’t decide if it just felt new/different or actually ooc... hmm this could be its own ramble but uhh not sure if i should subject y’all to that (especially if you’re enjoying the recent cards!). anyway it’s a great card if you enjoy fluff/sweetness and seeing vyn and rosa being in the early stages of a relationship where they really want to be around each other 24/7. also, despite my complaints, there’s still some interesting content if you want to try to analyze things
