every jadis scene pissed me off, so I won’t go into detail too much. you guys know how much i hate her. anyway, michonne using the axe to slice jadis like a cold cut… mother. love her. ALSO her rage when speaking about haircut too, yeah that was the perfect amount of dialogue that i wanted to see from her. her stealing rick’s time of seeing rj’s birth, first steps, etc. UGH. so excellent, you could feel her burning anger in her voice.

all of these callbacks throughout the episode but the best, most important and evident one was the mere fact that they’re a team again. kicking ass, and simply leading each other because that’s what they’re the best at. before any of their romance began, they were trusted confidants who worked so well side by side, and in this episode we got to see and feel the satisfaction and elation of having that back again!!!!!

i felt like i was at a drive thru restaurant ordering the entire episode. can i get some flirting, with a side of ass kicking, and ummm let me get a side of poetic, confessional yearning from rick grimes. yeah, that’ll be all.

rick telling gabriel that he wanted to marry michonne on the bridge. 🥺……. 😡 AND THEN EVERYTHING GOES TO SHIT AFTERWARDS. IMAGINE THE WORLD IF JADIS NEVER KIDNAPPED HIM. THEY WOULD HAVE FOUND HIM EVENTUALLY LIKE HE WAS RIGHT UP THE STREET?? oof — i cannot. we waited so long to hear this admirable dialogue but at what cost. it’s so sad, but at least we’re here now as michonne would say!!!!!

SaL anon here friend with my thoughts on Tuesday's episode and some other thoughts I'll get to. So the episode was amazing, emotional, so well acted, and basically hitting every kidnapped lover trope in the book to great effect. Slow, horrifying realization by their other half that something is wrong when no one else thinks so. Team up between them and a close relative who grounds them so they can crack the case. Kidnapped lover has a chance to escape but doesn't take it because it lead to

the other getting hurt. Performing CPR on the kidnapped lover because they FUCKING DIED!! Truly a glorious fanfiction come to life and I loved every moment of that part. It goes without saying that I would have gladly traded less Owen for more 126, but the TK and Gabriel team up was amazing. The serial killer aspects were pretty minimal so I didn't need to skip anything (ngl, after seeing the cookie thing in the preview i was terrified), hell Trudy was deranged but kinda sweet. So here we come to my salty thoughts so feel free to ignore if you want. As much as I loved the episode, it was hardly part of any sort of arc for Carlos, if we can even say that there was one. Aside from the basic setup, nothing in it relied on the previous 3 episodes. You could have had Tarlos fight for any reason and Carlos get kidnapped on a case and it would have played out the same way. So if there is any sort of arc for Carlos its in the previous 3 episodes, and I'm having trouble seeing it. An arc (to me) is character has a problem, things happen, resolution has character come out stronger on the other side (see the top tier Buck tsunami arc, Buck feels useless without his job, he saves Chris, discovers he has value to others outside his job.) So what was Carlos's arc? It was supposedly confronting his past but that didn't really happen. He's there for Iris when he thinks he hadn't been, but he would have been for any friend who went missing. If it was about confronting his reasons for getting married shouldn't we have seen a conversation with his parents? Right now the marriage thing isn't even necessary as backstory, we already knew Carlos had these issues in S2. If Tim was going to introduce 5 million plot holes with this info it needed a payoff. Maybe more will be said later in the season, till then i feel like 4x04 is a beautiful work of fan service to vaguely justify Tim's poorly thought out/executed headcanon.

Hello my friend and I'm sorry I'm so late getting to this! My mom had some issues at work and then got sick and then I got like, a weird (for me) amount of energy to Do Something Productive and spent about 6+ hours yesterday sorting The Box Of Important Papers I have been throwing shit into for years and I couldn't stop or I would never start again and it would remain half-sorted for the foreseeable future. But now I've got some time before I start anything else (or just lay around and read/recover for the rest of the day)!

The Tarlos of Tuesday's episode was sooooo so so good! We got delicious angst without being an over the top serial killer torture fest (and yeah Trudy was enabling her son but you can't look at the way he talked to her and tell me he wasn't abusing her and she wasn't just waiting to be the next one he killed the second she failed to "prove" her love for him. Also, am I the only one that assumed when she said his dad "left" and he burnt himself dissolving "something" that he murdered his dad? ANYWAY), we got some truly beautiful lines from both TK and Carlos about their love for each other, and Rafael really just acted his heart out all episode. I loved every minute of their stuff this episode. I was particularly thrilled with the TK/Gabriel scenes and the way he and Andrea just were SO happy to see TK even without Carlos, and were prepared to just have him over to hang out for a bit was SOOOO sweet and speaks volumes about how much closer they have grown. We love to see it! And the parallels to Carlos and Owen looking for TK when he went missing?! *chef's kiss* Get you a father in law who will listen to your concerns about their child and take them seriously and will follow your lead when you Know Something Is Up.

And honestly, Owen had some lines that did make me laugh! I actually think him and O'Brian play off each other really well and I enjoy their reluctant team up. I am just ABSOLUTELY bored to tears with this stupid storyline for them. One is a fire captain and the other is a motorcycle cop! HOW are they both just being totally removed from their first responder world to push this whole boring ass FBI investigation that, from a lot of the comments I've seen around, no one could give two shits about. There are SO MANY procedurals on that revolve around these investigations and a couple other "firefighter" shows that are more about the soap opera level drama than the fun/occasionally serious and painful rescue calls. The 911verse has always stood out for being different, more hopeful and fun, having drama but not being A Drama, and being full of fun and interesting rescues that tie in with what the main characters are going through. And both shows losing their way SO early in their runs is...disappointing. And frustrating that the people in charge have gotten a lot of feedback about what fans AND the GA tune in for (cool/fun emergencies! Some drama but not too OTT, focus on our main characters and their relationships to/with each other!) and have decided they would rather be like every other show out there than to deviate from what they personally want to do because the audience enjoys something they don't think is The Thing Everyone Should Be Enjoying This Much. (Or worse, turn those earnest things that people loved about the show into a joke because they resent their audience and fanbase that gives their show longevity and keeps it trending and pulls in new viewers for some reason. 🙃🙃🙃) ANYWAY, I am READY for this Owen storyline to take a back fucking seat to literally anything. I've been re-watching season 1 and the difference in TK and Owen's relationship then and now is so disappointing to see. I know Ronen said he and RL have a really good TK/Owen episode (or scene? I don't fully remember) so I'm looking forward to that but I really, REALLY need to see more emergencies and first responder moments on this *checks notes* show very specifically about first responders doing their jobs. VERY excited for Marjan to get a storyline this week!

As for your salty thoughts, I'm with you. I don't *hate* the "Carlos married Iris" storyline but it definitely could have been handled better/more seamlessly (especially watching season1 again and the clues they COULD have dropped without revealing what was going on but didn't), and honestly was not needed as a set up for this episode. Actually, as much as what we got was good, I personally think it would have been better being an entirely separate thing from Iris. Like, if they just wanted to have Carlos getting hurt and TK teaming up with Gabriel to find him, they could have cut the whole thing about Iris going missing and put more emergency calls into episode 3 and had TK and Carlos still in a tiff because they're both stressed about Iris not signing the divorce papers yet, and then had Carlos get trapped while at work on a call! He could have been trying to save someone, hell it could have even been Iris! And we could have seen him talking to this person (even BETTER if it was Iris!) about all this love he has for TK and about TK's love for Gwen, and fighting to get out but not quite being able to make it, and even going into cardiac arrest and needing CPR! He still could have been off-duty with no one knowing he was involved at first so TK could still have the talk with the 126 and the call to Grace, and a moment with the Reyes parents and the ultimate team up with Gabriel. I just think there was a way to tie it more into the premise of first responders while still keeping all the good stuff we got!

And you're right about it not really being an "arc" because we...didn't actually get that much from Carlos about HIMSELF. We got the scene where he first tells TK about being married and why he did it, but we still know NOTHING about if they had a true wedding and told everyone or if it's something that they did privately and it came up later when she disappeared, we have no idea if everyone in the family knew it was a sham wedding or found out later, we still don't know when they decided it was cool to date other people and if they ever lived together, or how Carlos felt about watching his best friend start to change and become someone he didn't recognize, we know NOTHING except it is a Thing That Happened and they didn't get a divorce before she disappeared because ??? "reasons" (even though no one batted an eye about her having a long-term relationship with someone else), then she was presumed dead, and then it was because the US healthcare system is a joke. We didn't get to delve much into Carlos' side of things, just hear his version of Iris's side of things! And as you said, if it was about him confronting his past, WHERE was a talk with his parents?! Where was the discussion about his choice to do this and what they did or didn't say or did or didn't know about it all?!

I'm hoping we get some more in the coming weeks because we still don't have a resolution to this arc since Iris still has not applied for an annulment or signed the papers, we haven't seen Carlos talking to his parents, and we didn't get a big growth moment or anything because we didn't get to see TK talking to anyone about how he was trying to be supportive but he was really reeling from the news and wanted to make sure Carlos felt supported and loved but he also needed to vent about it. Like, the only conflict is about if it can happen soon enough for the wedding in 8-ish weeks, because everyone is on board and everyone is fine with things. IDK it just feels like if this was going to be a big thing, it needed to be A Big Thing which you can do without the people in the couple being awful to each other, but you do kind of need to allow them to have big and occasionally messy feelings, and TALK about those feelings, and show some change from the start of the arc to the end. There was never any really true conflict here, so there is...nowhere to grow from. I don't hate this, I just think it could have been handled a little better and more interestingly but SO MUCH TIME is going to this Owen arc that everything else is suffering instead of giving this plot some room to breathe and filling up the time with more emergencies, and giving Owen a more central arc later on. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I usually don't care for show premisses as long as they're explained, but ml... yiks. Anyway, how ACTUALLY big is he possibility that the "Gabriel Agreste" episode will reveal the Agreste's plans to solve this ridiculous drama? Because I'm second doubing myself that even IF that’s a big IF Gabriel gets defeated, Lila will simply succed him... would Nathalie and Gabriel even go to jail? Or not since they're Adrien’s guardians?

I am really anticipating that Gabriel and Nathalie won't even get a slap on the wrist. They were doing it for lOvE. And SOMETIMES Gabriel does truly love his son. Oh, feel for him viewers. He's sooooo tortured and torn up about his actions!

Except when he's clearly enjoying himself and you got Chat Blanc to show that he's happily now delving into physical abuse with his son. And he can stop this anytime, his miraculous, arguably, could be used to save Emilie from that state. It can offer anyone any power (time travel, summoning volcanoes, actual powers of creation and destruction) so...

My best guess is that Gabriel will likely quietly retire with probably Lila picking up the brooch and continuing. And he shall never face consequences for his actions. And probably get to marry Nathalie who thinks the world of him but never officially let go of his existing wise who may or may not be alive we don't know, so Nathalie gets to be there to fill that void for him and answer all his emotional needs. And his son will go on obliviously to the misactions of his father and also think the world of him.

And Gabriel is just so lucky to be given this second chance with no consequences. So nice for reality to understand the hardships he had to deal with, and the guilt weighing on his oh so tortured soul...

Now, with the ep Gabriel Agreste, I would like it to give me answers. Any answers really. But I'm not expecting too much. Sometimes the answers they give just add to the confusion.

Like the reveal that adults are naturally more powerful. Why then did Fu pick children and at least not help set them up to have their own edge against HM?

Or the reveal of Fu having 17 miraculous available to him. Why send out the two that can make a wish, which HM openly admitted to the public that he wants? Why didn't Fu at least reclaim the ring and leave a different miraculous in its place? It's not like the Cat is really necessary to be out. Temp heroes prove that, hey, the ring is replacable and there are actually better options to be out. Bee could've been a great aggressive miraculous for LB, and Snake could've been a secret hero that watches from the shadows and resets time when things don't work out, can communicate with the heroes and let them know what's going on.

And I got to see that Glaciator 2 pulled the rug out of fans' feet by revealing Adrien Agreste is his true self, but so many saw Chat Noir as his true self. So now it's a wonder, what even is his true self? Personally I'd say its a mix of the two, and it'd come to be as Adrien grows. If he was allowed to grow.

Either way, this show doesn't like to give answers as the writers themselves don't know what answer to give, and when they do, it's typically something pulled out of their ass that makes no sense or doesn't work with what's already set up.

And with how confusing this show is, they're like, yes, let's include a time traveling miraculous. We can handle time travel.

By ep name alone, it could. And I would like to as I have an idea for Peafowl Marinette that I'd like to do but I need some answers first. Like, yeah, I can do answers myself, but I still want to wait and see what any offered answers could be.

Cause by set up, it's Gina finding the Peafowl instead of Emilie, and she gifts it to Marinette as her granddaughter likes to tinker and maybe she can fix this pin.

And in doing so, Emilie Agreste is alive and well. And that makes me wonder, would the Agrestes still have the Butterfly and book? Was the Peafowl the first miraculous they found that opened up their world to miraculouses or was that the Butterfly? Would they/Gabriel still be evil? Or was that caused by Emilie falling into a comatose state or dead a year ago? And is a year a long enough time for Gabriel to have that basement and lair built? Or was it built beforehand with Gabriel and Emilie anticipating things to go this way? And then you got Shanghai special revealing that Gabriel's had a plan in the works for 15 years and its like, does this even count as canon? And does this mean that Gabriel is a full villain? Or that he and Emilie were always villains?

Ideally the show would've answered some of this, it was planned to in s2.

But at this point, just, who knows. It'd probably be best to answer myself, but I am curious to see if the ep Gabriel Agreste will offer anything so going to hold off before I start thinking about it. Hopefully it well, but my hopes aren't that high.

Hey, first of all thank you for answering my earlier ask. Second, am I the only one that hopes when Gabriel (and I'm pretty sure he's gonna come back) that Sam does NOT instantly forgive him? (this might be a bit long). I've been reading a lot of season 13 fanfiction (mainly about Gabriel's return and running away) and in almost all of them, as soon as Gabriel returns, Sam instantly forgives him. I know he's recovering from Hell trauma and torture, but as the same time I can't help but think 1/?

Coward. I maybe a bit cynical at the moment but Sam went to Hell and when he came back and was able to actually remember hell, he still fought to save the world. When Dean got back from Hell he still fought to save the world. When Castiel went crazy from being God and came back, he stayed and tried to fix the mess he made and then later to try and save the world. And there’s a whole lot of other characters (Charlie, Mary, Jack) all fighting to save the world. And yes I do know it’s apart of 2/?

Gabriel’s character flaw is to run away (even though that character ark was done better is season 5) I still don’t want Sam or Dean or Cas to instantly forgive him when he returns. I want Gabriel to repent a bit. It’s like watching a tv show or reading a book where the main lead is hurt deeply (possibly abandonment) by someone (not necessarily a love interest though they tend to be that) and as soon as that person returns the lead instantly forgives them because they love them sooooo much. 3/?

Now sometimes the instant forgiveness is done right. If it’s the character flaw of the lead (they have attachment issues hence the instant forgiveness) or that somebody is seen actually repenting (I like it when the somebody is on death’s door when they ask for forgiveness and the lead forgives them because they realize being angry doesn’t solve anything.) Then there is the instant forgiveness done wrong. It’s when it makes the main lead seem like a door mat. I’m okay with characters giving 4/?

other characters a second chance but I hate it when it comes with the instant trust. That’s what I’m afraid season 13 will do. Mainly what the writers will make Sam do. I’m okay with Sam forgiving people but he also needs to stand up for himself. I kind of hope for something like the later half of season 9 with the fight between Sam and Dean, where Sam didn’t forgive Dean for what he did. I don’t think it will be as long because Sam is not as close to Gabriel as he is with Dean. Hopefully 5/?

I guess what I’m trying to say is that I want Sam to forgive characters (eventually and after much grovelling) but I don’t want him to become a push over where any transgression against him is okay. Where he stops respecting himself and stops standing up for himself. No one’s going to stand up with you, if you don’t stand up for yourself. Again, I hope this is coming out the way I mean. It’s okay 8/?

if Sam forgives a character, but I want to see some justification in that forgiveness. Give me a reason beyond because it’s Sam’s character. I want the writers to show us that Gabriel has earned Sam’s forgiveness. What do you think? Do you think Sam should forgive Gabriel? Do you think he shouldn’t? How do you think Gabriel’s character ark should be handled? How do you want this sub plot to turn out? Sorry if this was long and ranty but I’m worried about the rest of season 13.

First of all, sorry for how slow/terrible I am at replying! Thanks for your patience!!

This is going to sound horrible of me, I think, but when it comes to characters I want to see show some genuine remorse or just… you know, get brutally killed and wiped from canon forever, Gabriel is quite far down on the list. I think it’s because of where he started. He improved as a character from where he started, and although it didn’t make him a blameless saint, he did stick his heck out for the sake of the world, and until the writers retconned his death, he did actually die for that act of heroism.

A lot of Sam fans are quite rightly concerned about having the writers bring back yet another character who has done horrible things to Sam.

But I’m 1000% with you on the idea of Sam’s forgiveness. I honestly don’t expect him to stand up for himself—and again, if he’s going to make a stand about the way people treat him, there are at least two characters I’d like him to stand up to first—but I am nearly certain that the writers won’t give what Sam experienced at Gabriel’s hands a second thought.

I hope Sam saves all his rage for Lucifer. I hope someone mentions what MoC!Dean said at Charlie’s pyre. I hope the show stops making Sam a sexy lamp who is nothing more than an afterthought in his own story.

I’ve stopped having any faith that we’ll get any of those things, but I love your thoughts and agree with you and hope all your wishes come true. I wish I could alleviate your worries about the season, but I share them. I want to talk about whether Sam should forgive Gabriel and how Gabriel’s character arc should progress, but I don’t know what I could say. Honestly, I think any of the options you mentioned could be written well, but I don’t think they will be.

My saltiness is mostly gone and at this point I just feel sad about this show.

It just keeps crushing Sam’s character to paler and paler shreds of himself and building these grand plots on top of the ruins, and it’s hard to even imagine a way they could salvage his story now. 

It’s entirely possible, but it would take more care and certainly more skill than the current showrunners possess.

Okay, so this one is MASSIVELY late but I blame my pneumonia for the delay and totally not the fact that I was so busy reading stuff that I have only just finalized January’s list!!!  So here are a few things that I have been reading this January and I think you might like them too.  I have been sucked into a few new fandoms thanks to @bkwrm523 , @thorne93 and @sdavid09 and so the last section has kinda grown more diverse.  If you read or write something and you think it should be on my list then please tag me or send me a link or print it out and send it by raven.  Well, without anymore of me rambling, here’s my favourite fics in January 2017.

Dancing on my Own – @jelly-beans-and-gstrings I’m a sucker for a choose your own ending and this one is fantastic.  So who would you choose? Sam or Dean?

Dirty Thoughts of an Archangel – @dont-hate-relate-pls  By now you should all know how much I adore Gabriel and this fic is just an amazing mixture of cute, awkward and hot. I may or may not have read this one several times.

A Kiss for the Night –  @thethingwewrite This is a smutty Crowley for you should you be that way inclined.  I really liked reading this one, I have a soft spot for the King of Hell.

Whats-His-Name – @l8nitl0vr I think this is one of my favourite Lucifer fics.  For me I think the characterization is spot on and I could totally picture him being like this, plus I would probably do what the reader did too.

A Little Too Late -  @lucifersagents  This series has had me hooked all the way through. There are so many things that keep you guessing and it is so well written I’m kinda sad that it’s finished.

Woman of Letters - @like-a-bag-of-potatoes  I love this series, everytime I see theres a new part it brings a smile to my face.  One of my all-time favourite writers and all round lovely person.  If you aren’t already following her I highly recommend you do.

Marvel:

Matchmaker –  @callamint Bucky and Natasha playing matchmaker is my new favourite thing and this series is brilliant.

Imagine Wade Wilson introducing you to Matt Murdock - @imamotherfuckingstar-lord  This. Is. Amazing.  Seriously, this little imagine is sooooo good.  I love @imamotherfuckingstarlord anyway because she’s one of my favourite writers but her Deadpool is simply sublime.

Iron Icarus – @serzhantjamesbuchananbarnes  Jeeeeeezzzzz, this one hurt my heart.  Poor Tony doing pretty much what Tony does and you want to punch him and shout at him and then give him a huge hug and wrap him in bubblewrap, or maybe that’s just me.  Beautifully written and well worth a read.

Homesick - @thorne93 This series is the perfect blend of fluff and angst.  A reader with amnesia, Steve picking her up in the park, the introduction of Bucky... Go read this right now and then you too can know the delicious torture of waiting for the next part.

Sassy Stark - @redlipstickandplaid  Every imagined what it would be like to be Tony Starks daughter?  Imagine no longer, this fic is super cute and the relationship between the reader and Tony is exactly how I would picture it.  Loving this series.

Mess with Them - @redgillan  I love Friends, I love Marvel, I love this series.  The relationships between all the characters is so on point and fluffy!  

No Regrets – @mar-gega  A lovely little series where Bucky is definitely awkward and clueless and it is gorgeous.  

The Lonely Tree – @sarahwroteathing  This is one of my favourite series of all time ever and I am super sad that it’s over but the ending is just perfect.  I fell in love with Steve all over again with this fic and I hope you will too.

Road to Schkeuditz – @aubzylynn   Being stuck in a car with Steve, Sam and Bucky as you drive across the country!! Set in CACW this is what ‘may’ have happened as they drove to Leipzig airport on their mission to clear Bucky’s name.  I like to think that this is how that journey went.

For Your Convenience – @brighterlights  Oh. My. Goodness!!!!  Steve or Bucky?  Bucky or Steve?  This amazing series had me going from one to the other, back and forth.  It is such a good read and I think you should go binge read the entire thing now.

Star Trek:

Shore Leave – @imamotherfuckingstar-lord  This series officially killed me.  I am now dead.  How are you supposed to live your life after you get involved with McCoy AND Kirk?  I will never be able to write smut as well as this genius but as long as I can read her work I think I’m okay with that.

Other Fandoms and Fics:

Wrong Number – @totally-turtle-imagines I thought this little fic was so sweetand I’m kinda hoping that there may be more parts. I’m beginning to suspect I might be team Donatello when it comes to this fandom.

Flirt –  @plumfondler I’m not usually a massive Lance Tucker fan but this fic just seemed perfect for him.  I don’t think I could just be friends with him either.

Muffins – @just-a-little-crazy  So a little foray into the Gotham fandom here and a little fluff with Victor Zsasz.  Even ruthless hitmen deserve muffins.  

Even the Playing Field - @sdavid09  So I have totally fallen in love with Fili after falling back into the Hobbit fandom.  The relationship between Kili and Fili is so well written and I really enjoyed reading this, it brought a goofy smile to my face.
