Rewatching episodes of Are You Sure and it's really beginning to hit me just how special this show is. It's so wild to me to think back on how I would get so happy when Jimin or Jungkook would leave comments on each other's weverse lives or make short appearances in each other's content because that's all there was, and here we all are with hours and hours of content to watch of them on their Disney+ show.

Real interactions where they are doing nothing but hanging out with each other, eating, and having fun. Laughing. Tons and tons of laughing. Truly one of the things I love most about this show. Hearing them erupt into fits of giggles feels so healing (especially with all the drama surrounding hybe at the moment).

Sometimes the show itself even existing doesn't seem real.

And with the last episode coming in a few days, I'm feeling weirdly emotional thinking about it coming out and after Jungkook's documentary release, Jimin's exhibition, AYS photobook, and behind-the-scenes videos, there's a possibility that we will be without them for the next few months until they are discharged (especially since they both prefer to serve quietly and rarely post updates like the other members). Honestly, I can't wait to hear Jimin and Jungkook talk more in-depth about what it was like filming Are You Sure, and what it meant to them to have that time together. 😩

Oh my gosh, I'm a new fan of Mystic Messenger this year 2024 😁. I'm gotta say I love your art and your Daycare AU. Do you know the song Thank You and Goodnight? Listening to that song make me cry because of nostalgia about this game despite I'm a new fan, also The Night We Met remind me of this game too

it still cracks me up to my bones that the romance plot that ended as an open ended sad separation was the cute, soft university boys who has multiple romantic musical numbers together and not the bodyguard/mafia boss who tried to kill each other and had sex against a mirror or the bodyguard/mafia 2.0 boss who tried to kill each other twice and had sex in a torture dungeon after their therapy hedgehog died

Something something of COURSE in the end it's Stolas who has the power to end the conversation and whisk Blitz away rather then keeping at it when things get rough, off script, and honest.

Stolas want's a storybook romance. He's had it fermenting and stagnating in his head since he was a kid.

Stolas grew up in an environment of putting on airs and pretending to be perfect.

Stolas has no reference point for FIGHTING in a relationship except for an arranged marriage that they both openly did not want to be in, with zero real emotional stakes re: their bond with each other. (The primary stakes were playing bare minimum nice for the kid. Which they still failed at, but that's another topic.)

Of COURSE he doesn't understand that love and resentment at past wrongs (that can be exhumed and dealt with) can exist simultaneously.

How could he? He's never had an emotional investment with an equal, a peer, at all. ;-;

Blitz is intensely fucked up. They're BOTH fucked up, obviously. But this one? Dang it Stolas. ;_; If they'd just continued the conversation instead of Stolas' actively ending it and teleporting Blitz away, they might have GOT somewhere.

hrrr I Saw the TV Glow is still rolling around in the back of my mind. it's hitting me somewhat belatedly that what seemingly starts as mainly an identity story turns out - toward the final act - to also be a love story. two queer kids finding each other (again). the bond they forge (have always had). the feelings that start to grow (were always there) despite the lie they're living. one trying to save the other, and failing. the frail hope at the end that maybe what they had mattered after all, even if they never see each other again. maybe because they knew each other, someday things will be better.

idk. so much of the story feels so lonely. they're awkward with each other at first and they don't really "get" each other and they're absent from each other's lives for long periods and they don't have anyone else. but it's all a lie - they were best friends, they knew each other better than anyone, they are who they are because they knew each other, they were not alone. no matter how bleak the setting is, this fake world can't obscure the truth. they'll never forget each other. it will always have happened, it will always have mattered.

it's so hard to put into words but Owen/Isabel and Maddy/Tara make me so crazy, the way everything in the world works to drive them apart and yet not even losing their memories can destroy the connection between them. and it's not enough to prevent the world from tearing them apart but maybe it's enough to save their lives

queer love portrayed not as supernaturally resilient or invincible (god knows it isn't), but as a precious fragile thing that can and will grow back over and over in some form no matter what ...
