Curious and adventurous. That's what Aether is.
Always on and about, constantly hopping from one place to another accompanied along by his fairy friend and sometimes even with party members he's made friends with along the way.
He's traveled far and beyond in order to find his beloved sister, and along his travels, he's experienced many things and encountered many people and one of those encounters being.. Gods or...atleast creatures that are considered close to being Gods.
They striked a slight fascination within him and he can't help but ask a question, a question he knows he can just ask the God's he's encountered so far but he knew it would be too rude..."What are Gods?"
Are they a benevolent existence which no mortal mind can comprehend? Are they undying—immortal, creatures far more superior to mortals? Or maybe supreme beings that rules and possesses command over the world...? Or are they perhaps entities who controls everything...
It's unclear.
But one thing is for sure. He knows that you must fear them.
There were many Gods in Teyvat, many of which who who had passed and to Aether it was funny after all they weren't so immortal now weren't they?
They fought, killed and destroyed, some doing it for what they deem is right yet it seems that they've created more wrong than right. Fighting like animals just so in order to secure a spot within the divine seats of Celestia, a fight for power, a fight for supremacy, a vicious and terrifying war between the strong where many had lost their lives, Gods, humans, and animals alike. All of the destruction, all for power.
Greed and desire was what lead to their downfall. He found it truly terrifying to see what these emotions can do, especially when Gods can feel them too.
Which begs another question, "are we so different from them at all?" He's starting to doubt that they are. "Is a god truly worth fearing if they find themselves tempted with humanly emotions and desires?" These questions plague his mind.
Within Aether's journey there were many tales he encountered, some of which narrated about God's fighting amongst themselves for power, the Archon wars were certainly one of them. Along with them were tales in which Gods were all slain by humans. Which for him seemed to be begging for another pair of questions, "are God's truly omnipotent if they were to be slain by humans?" "And is there any existence far more superior than these..."Gods"?"
He knew there wasn't.
Of course there weren't, not until he discovered about them.
Uncovered hidden amongst a ruin he found accidentally, within the ruins he discovered worn out scriptures and textbooks detailing about an unknown God and how the world and everything within it was created for this God's sole entertainment. The papers told of a prophecy in which an outlander of no connection to world will appear within Teyvat carrying the God's essence and will bring change to the world. And as surprising as the discovery was what shocked him the most was a drawing which he didn't even notice, not until Paimon pointed it out.
Along with the paper came with a painting depicting the so called outlander, drawn on a piece of thin yet long slab of rock showed a person donning a long braided hair carrying a sword. It had an uncanny resemblance to Aether himself despite it having no color, the black ink used detailed features that he himself possessed.
Bewildered and confused he found himself coming to the conclusion. The outlander was him and he was carrying the essence of whoever this God might be.
Aether planned on finding out more but before he could, the ruin started to collapse, the ground shook as the pillars within the ruins started to tremble. Aether grabbed all that he could before rushing out to the exit and upon doing so, he looked back. The ruin wasn't there anymore. As if it was never there in the first place. Gone. Vanished into thin air.
Then and there did he decided that he was going to find out more about this God.
EHehehe bye.
