So here's something to ponder. If Shepard were to introduce old Earth anime to the Normandy team, especially the aliens, which anime do you think each squadmate would be into?

In a fictional world where I could imagine all the characters actually being interested enough (because a good chunk of them I just can't imagine them caring or being into it) and just putting aside that I actually really can't see some of them even being into anime of any kind;

Garrus: At first my thought would be something like Space Battleship Yamato, but I think he might actually be more into something like Rose of Versailles and no, not because I like it. But I think the internal conflict of the show of loyalty to the crown both as duty but also personal connection versus duty to the people and the desire to uphold justice would be something he'd be super into.

Wrex: Ashita no Joe. Easy choice.

Grunt: Ginga. I don't think there are any anime focusing on sharks so seeing dogs fight bears in the wilderness would probably do the trick. Otherwise DBZ would be the most obvious choice.

Liara: Cheating with this one by saying "Mysterious Cities of Gold" which is more a French show than an anime but is JUST anime enough to count, I think. Obvious reasons as to why are obvious.

Tali: Macross (the first one). If there was an anime adaptation of Pride and Prejudice I would pick that because Tali is a GIANT romantic who 100% reads fanfiction nad has even said in-game she's going to send Shepard gifsets of "Fleet and Flotilla". So Macross with its complicated romance aboard a giant spaceship and being unable to return to Earth will probably hit all the right buttons for her.

Legion is difficult because I can only really see him being into Isekai because he likes fantasy but that's a modern genre

As for Mordin, I don't know if there are any anime that would appeal to him or any of his interests.

If I ever do a serious re-write of the fic, those fandom darlings are the first against the wall.] Let them play their stupid alpha games. He’s the one on the top step today, and as they play the German national hymn [usually I don't fuck around much with language in people's interior monologue-- they're thinking in a language they're fluent in, you know?-- but I consistently used the false cognate "national hymn" instead of "national anthem" in nico's interior narration as a way of gesturing towards the fact that he's thinking in German that won't be particularly alienating to english-language readers.] in his honor, he vows that this time, he won’t let the season slip away from him.

Sky Sports has Mark Webber doing the podium interviews, and half of Sebastian’s champagne bottle ends up getting dumped over his head, the older alpha throwing back his head like a happy dog [:pleading_face:] and soaking it in as he lets Seb ruin a perfectly nice suit. [I didn't flesh out too much of the specific timeline of the Martian relationship, which is literally why I am writing this director's commentary. the last we heard from martian, in this timeline, Hanna was pregnant again and Mark wasn't speaking to Seb. This is a silly, cheery podium, but also an extremely pivotal moment in their relationship. it's not smooth sailing from here-- seb is still going to get married in 2019-- but it's a rekindling that marks the end of mark trying to put space between himself and seb. not to put on my Analyzing Body Language hat here but since I literally wrote and described the body language I get to do it... mark's entire body language here is one giant submission gesture. he's giving up fighting against his connection to seb, even if it hurts (seb is seriously partnered! seb has children! etc). from now on, mark is all-in, in whatever way seb will have him, which we see in the last chapter when he even goes to seb and hanna's wedding. and that utterly devoted self-sacrifice, that willingness to be anything and everything that seb will let him be, no matter how much it hurts, is the biggest difference between mark and hanna, who we meet secondhand in the moment she has finally made the great ultimatum and forced seb to choose.]

But Nico won today, so he answers Mark’s questions cheerfully, and Lewis answers them dourly, before it’s Sebastian’s turn with the microphone.

Nico tries to recall the last time he saw them interact. He knows that Seb’s wife had another kid a few months back—Jenson had been right about that, like he always is about paddock gossip [Jenson literally just exists to deliver exposition in the sleaziest way possible]—but that doesn’t seem to have put a damper on Seb’s feelings for Mark. His face is lit up with the widest smile Nico has ever seen, cow-eyed like an omega in heat as he flirts, [again, the Who Tops question is way over Nico's head. see what I said above about Mark's body language. anyway the language used here is very nico's internalized-omegaphobia-to-homophobia pipeline strikes again etc.] inviting Mark to drink more of his champagne and bringing up some stupid inside joke that’s only barely not an innuendo. [sebastian vettel voice: when YOU get drunk you start singing summer of SIXty-NINE]

Nico just smiles. Sebastian can have his fun. Nico has the rest of the season ahead of him, has carried over his winning streak from the end of last season [extremely ham-fisted exposition but let's just all take a moment to appreciate the seven-race win streak Nico Rosberg went on between the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016], and doesn’t need to get knotted to feel like he’s celebrating. [again: not to keep beating this drum, but Nico is so drenched in self-loathing, has convinced himself that his being an omega is the problem, is abusing his heat suppressants... he's doing everything he can to neutralize that side of himself.] There’s no one’s shoes he’d rather be in than his own. [he said, lying to himself like a lying liar who lies.]

It is their BEST for sure and for this year, I agree so to not see him perform right before he left is a bit sad. I don't blame him of course (if anyone does i am fish slapping you) but just a shame. I'm happy we do get content with him still? Seems pre-planned so that is nice!

Onto legends exo, fantastic comeback. I cannot stop listening to the album, its just bops full of bops to me. They broke so many records and I'm over here sipping my tea because fudge yes. It isn't a full member comeback, 2 of the members featured in the comeback are off playing call of duty and they still did THAT. While having lay properly in the comeback!? (Or at least some form, better than tempo era!) Kyungsoo my beloved, the man that can swoon you off your feet, his proper solo album. Omg I am just in love? The album feels like a Playlist that you hear while taking a walk or on a raodtrip? I love it, I just love everything about this with how much thought was given. It makes me feel warm and I'm so proud of him (I think he even got a first win) but sadly xiumin got the it shall not be named virus D: I feel so bad and I can only hope he gets better! It makes me worried because I keep seeing more and more idols getting sick and I can't help but wonder why don't the kpop entertainment just put a pause with stuff? Onto svt! That is perfectly fine to not vibe with a comeback! I will admit, I didn't fully vibe with this comeback and it shocked me because every comeback was a hit to me. Even fear, left and right or homerun where I know many fans were split on, I liked but RTL was a grower. For me, listening to it without watching the mv, helped it alot and it is a song I like. Is it their best? No I don't think so but it is alright to say "hey I didn't bop to this, not my cup of tea" (imo I blame the mv? The mv REALLY didn't do the song justice at all, I am sorry if I sound like a fake fan but this mv Just is bad in all aspects. Sure we have some pretty shots but like it just doesn't fit at all?) So if anything listening to the song or wishing the live performances does it better. Seeing the choreography amps the song up more, cannot go wrong with their dancing. As for the rest of the songs, I admit game boy is my top favorite? Idk if it is because I am a gaming nerd and found all the production of the song so creative but yeah. We can wait for the next comeback! Svt always have something up their sleeves, plus we do have their music projects to look forward too (I wonder when we will get one? Seeing as RTL promotions stopped) some positive news with the boys is they resigned like a year before their contract ends and I'm a bit emotional :') I'm excited to see the boys future projects. our shownu is at war *looks into the distance* *wipes away tear* *sighs* by now I got used to enlistment news (see what happens when you stan 2nd and 3rd gen groups) but STILL [[IT HURT]] when they uploaded the monchannel videos of his goodbye day like ????? what kind of twisted mind diuhdfuihdifuhs but the boys were all so cute and soft but they seemed so sad they didn't want to let go of their super leader :(( I hope he's learning lots and making new friends (and also we've got our international super spy yoo kihyun giving us small updates on him every now and then so everything's fine!). Yeah I totally get you it felt empty without him this comeback and at first it didn't really clicked with me but when the enlistment news came out i understood he had to take care of his health and thoroughly check on his eye sight in order to be 100% ready for the military so it made sense he had to be absent :( everything was so close (the comeback and enlistment) that I'm sure there was no other way for doing it I'm pretty sure he couldn't maybe postpone the enlistment day any further

onto exo! my ksoo my soft boi my romantic boi 🥺 his album is so him SO HIM i can't explain it bur it's just HIM you know it's the type of album you'd play on loop on a summer afternoon when you've taken your papers and paints outside in the garden to paint a bit with the warm soft breeze moving the trees lightly 🤧 and he signs in English and SPANISH (he did it for me) my multilingual king he's a native. Also I've been watching Honeymoon Tavern with Jongin these days and OMG i could d word for him really (if you haven's watched it go do it when you have time) he's SO SOFT and SO CUTE and he works as a waiter and a wedding planner and helps with the room preparations and is also a tour guide and he's just so cute so happy al the time the way he interacts with everyone is so 🥺🤧😭 onto more serious stuff now: yeah i was so worried about minseok catching covid omg but i'm glad he went through it with our any major complication and the rest of the boys are safe too! I guess the industry doesn't stop bc that would mean a huge loss of thousands and thousands of dollars/won/etc so as long as the gov doesn't prohibit going out or gathering like at the beginning of the pandemic, they'll keep on going with the idols' schedules otherwise the industry would just shut down having no way of earning money to sustain all the companies and idols.
