Watching a truly stupid modern day chinese drama and hate myself for actually being interested in some of these characters despite this show normalizing some very not ok behavior, amature storytelling, and some uh interesting attempts to mimic Korean show structure. The camera work is the only truly good thing about it, and hilariously the only truly wholesome and non-problematic character is a guy who's been to prison for street scuffling LOL.

Anyway, it's been an interesting learning experience and a reminder of what a fucking incredible gem Rise of Phoenixes was.

#i dont like chinese dramas tbh but rise of phoenixes was so stellar I have kind of been giving them a second chance #i watched this taiwanese drama called Mars in high school that i thought was pretty awesome and that was it till Phoenixes lol #and Mars isnt even chinese!!! 🤣#the bar is simultaneously non existant and also sky high now- thanks Phoenixes and Chen Kun and Nini lmaooo
