John Chapter Verses
Didn't realize until I saw this post that the titles for John's chapters in Nona the Ninth carried extra meaning with the associated Bible verses. (I did wonder why those numbers but hadn't looked into it yet.)
So mostly for my own reference (1599 Geneva translation because it's shortened "GNV" and my brain is saying "Gideon Nav" so it's as good a reason as any to pick one), and with mini notes for what's in each chapter.
John 20:8 (Initial setup, the cryo project gets shut down.)
Then went in also the other disciple, which came first to the sepulcher, and he saw it, and believed.
John 5:20 (John is "having six breakthroughs a day" and discovers the bodies he'd touched won't decay.)
For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things, whatsoever he himself doeth, and he will show him greater works than these, that ye should marvel.
John 15:23 (P— helps buy time. John first makes the bodies move.)
Whoever hates me hates my Father also.
John 5:18 ("We all thought of you right away, what it could mean for you." They're afraid of getting hushed up, of getting disappeared. So they turn to the internet.)
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him: not only because he had broken the Sabbath: but said also that God was his Father, and made himself equal with God.
John 8:1 (John's being called the Antichrist, among other things. M—'s nun joins the group and tells him, hey jackass, regulate this more or they're gonna do to you what they did to Jesus. Also cows.)
And Jesus went unto the mount of Olives,
John 19:18 (In the dream, the water keeps rising and they head to the top of a hill. FTL is announced and John is pissed.)
Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
John 5:1 (P— insists they need to be scarier to be taken seriously. John, now with Ulysses and Titania as constant bodyguards, goes to the meeting where he's asked to puppet a world leader. A— and M— and John play Bad Cop, Worse Cop, and Sorry Cop until they walk away with a couple billion and a nuke.)
After that, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went to Jerusalem.
John 3:20 (John is told to pick a priority, exposing FTL or saving earth. They learn just how bullshit the FTL plans were. John commits to being a cult leader and a necromancer.)
For every man that evil doeth, hateth the light, neither cometh to light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
John 9:22 (The nun keeps insisting the soul is the missing piece. "Guys as careful as me don't make mistakes.")
These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had ordained already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be excommunicated out of the Synagogue.
John 1:20 (All the shit hits all the fans. Alecto is formed.)
And he confessed and denied not, and said plainly, "I am not that Christ."
John 5:4 (Harrow addresses John. She sets off at the end to the tower in the distance, walking through the water.)
For an Angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first, after the stirring of the water, stepped in, was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

I’m sure someone else has done this already but I absolutely had to look up the Bible verses corresponding to the John chapters in Nona the Ninth.
All verses taken from the King James Version because it feels more aesthetically appropriate.
John 20:8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
I’m sure there are other ways to interpret this verse about the disciples going to the tomb, but I think it’s the fact that we hear John call his audience Harrow that’s important.  Harrow was always looking for Teacher.  She always believed, and wanted reason to believe.
In this, we get the first hint that Harrow is both Harrow and Alecto - Alecto, the first of John’s ‘followers’; the first to come to the ‘tomb’.  The first to believe.  It’s the first hint that the two of them have been entwined for longer than we realize.
John 5:20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
An apt choice for the chapter in which John shows his ‘greater works’ by keeping his favorite corpses from ‘the melt’.
It’s worth noting that unless I’m missing something, we never get a reason for John’s abilities.  One might indeed believe he’s touched by the Father; we know for a fact at this point that has has ‘greater works than these’ to show.
John 15:23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
A little more subtle, but this is when John starts drawing lines in the sand.  When he starts deciding who’s on his side and who’s not.  M---, A---, G---, C--- - they’re all his.  Those who accepted his first ‘gift’.
John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
John’s concern at this point is being picked up as a science experiement.  Being locked up in a room to be poked and prodded until the secret behind his ability is discovered
As an unrelated note, I think “What is this internet?” “See, I did make a utopia” is hilarious
John 8:1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
So we get our first John/Christ comparison here, with the criticism that “Christ didn’t keep to office hours”
“...and we knew any moment a riot squad was going to burst in.”  A very fitting comparison to Jesus and the disciples having the Romans burst in on them while Jesus was praying.
“She betrayed the police for us”.  While you can’t draw a 1:1 correlation, betrayal is a theme in the garden of Gethsemane - Judas betrays Jesus, and Peter betrays/denies him as well.
John 19:18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say the point of this reference is ‘one on either side;  It’s not about John (for once), it’s about the criminals ‘crucified’ alongside him.  The alternative methods to escaping Earth.
John 5:1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
A fitting verse for a chapter in which John moves further into a space he considers his own and that everyone else considers belonging to him.  He is bringing the Good News.  He is changing the world in Good Ways.
John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
Those doing evil and hating the light are obviously the trillionaires  John’s still naively holding out hope that exposing their lies, their evil, will have a positive outcome.
John 9:22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
A much more subtle passage. But fitting with John’s actions in killing so many people and P--- calling him to task for it.  The combination suggests that if John’s going to declare himself God, his behaviors should fit others’ consideration of what God should be like.  John’s comments suggest that he think anyone trying to hold him to a standard can go kiss their own ass.
John 1:20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
Well, from one perspective, this is entirely accurate.  John never claims he’s the son of God
He just describes how he becomes God.
And of all the damage, the suffering, the pain, he inflicts as a part of that journey.

Here is a compilation of all of the bible verses from John, in order of appearance, using the Douay-Rheims Bible. This is a translation Muir directly quotes from throughout the series (thank you @a-big-apple for the annotated locked tomb doc, which has the link to the online bible and lots of other interesting resources and discussions!).
There is some added commentary from me as well, either to put quotes into context or share some notes I took while reading Nona the Ninth. Obviously, spoilers abound below the cut!
John 20:8: “Then that other disciple also went in, who came first to the sepulchre: and he saw, and believed.” ’The other disciple’ is John, known both as the ‘Disciple of Love’ and ‘Jesus’ Most Beloved Disciple.’ In this part of the Bible, Mary Magdalene discovers that the Tomb has been opened. John 5:20: “For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things which himself doth: and greater works than these will he shew him, that you may wonder.” Interestingly enough, the line immediately after this one is: “For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth life: so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.” John 15:23: “He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.” John 15 is a continuation of a discourse from Jesus to his disciples. Earlier in the text he tells them, “I am the vine: you the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.” In this chapter John Gaius performs his second miracle of reanimating the bodies of Ulysses and Titania, who he calls both his children and ‘nothing more’ than extensions of himself. This is the beginning of John’s god complex, and how he begins to use his anger on behalf of Earth as justification for all future actions. John 5:18: “Hereupon therefore they sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath, but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.” In this chapter, after A-- and M-- test John’s abilities, they decide to go public and livestream the resurrection. John 8:1: “And Jesus went unto mount Olivet.” A short one! In John 8, Jesus is being given a test to parse his identity. In NtN, this is where John and the others start attracting attention--and the infamous cow shield.  Interestingly, when answering questions, Jesus writes them out in the dirt with his finger, reminiscent of a later John chapter where he writes J + E + A  + H in a heart on the beach.  John 19:18: “Where they crucified him, and with him two others, one on each side, and Jesus in the midst.” John explains that they finally found out where the money for the cryo project went, and that they realized the trillionaires were just jumping ship and leaving everyone else behind to rot. This chapter focuses a lot on John, and A--, and M--. They were John’s first disciples, and would later die by his side during the siege of the facility.
John 5:1: “After these things was a festival day of the [Jewish people], and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.” In the dream, John explains how they were made an offer by a foreign government and how A-- and M-- were able to negotiate a nuke as payment. P-- also makes the comment in this chapter that “If they want to make you into a bad wizard, be a bad wizard...they’re not going to listen because we talk nicely, they’re going to listen because we scare the shit out of them.”  John 5 is primarily concerned with Jesus being denied by his community leaders as Christ and trying to bring in his disciples to testify/negotiate on his behalf, eventually getting frustrated when he realizes nothing will change their minds. John 3:20: “For every one that doth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved.” John and the others attempt to prove the FTL project is a scam and are not believed. John 3 is also where the well known verse “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son” comes from, which Muir later quotes in chapter 32: “For she so loved the world that she had given them John.” Also absolutely reading too much into this but-- In John 3, Nicodemus asks Jesus how someone can be ‘born again,’ joking that it’s impossible to re-enter your mother’s womb. In the dream, John talks about how they were all scared of the suitcase nuke so they hid it under the floor, only to be used as a last resort, as blackmail. At the end of HtN, Wake tells John that she called baby Gideon ‘the Bomb’ throughout her pregnancy. The Ninth House Project was also Mercy and Augustine’s plan-of-last-resort to bring down John. And then the Ninth House tried to bury Gideon...and when that failed they spent the next 18 years terrified of her. Hmm hmm. Much to think about.   John 9:22: “These things his parents said, because they feared the [Jewish leaders]: for they had already agreed among themselves, that if any man should confess him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.” In John 9, authorities come looking for Jesus but his followers cover for him at risk of their own safety.  I believe my note here was “John Gaius is a rat bastard.”  John 1:20: “And he confessed, and did not deny: and he confessed: I am not the Christ.” In context, this is John the Baptist denying he is Christ. Instead he tells them “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord...”  Meta textually this is meant to signal to us (and Harrow)--John is not the messiah he claims to be. He was chosen by the soul of Earth--Alecto--to be her voice, to save her, and he failed, terribly.  John 5:4: “And an angel of the Lord descended at certain times into the pond; and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pond after the motion of the water, was made whole, of whatsoever infirmity he lay under.” Jesus encourages a disabled man to enter the pool and be healed, directing him to ‘pick up his mat and walk.’ Harrow rejects John as God and wades into the River, eventually to be reunited with Alecto in the Tomb. The chapter ends with “And she stepped into the River. She took another step, and she walked, and she walked.”

What Every Christian Should Know About Divorce
The Definition of Divorce
The word translated “divorce” in the New Testament is “apostasion”, which means, “a defection”. Imagine a soldier who has been enlisted and drafted in the army, who runs away without permission. He is a defector. If he is arrested he is likely to be shot. The dictionary meaning of defect is “to forsake a party”.
The Scriptures on Divorce
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:24
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Matthew 5:32
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Mark 10:9
For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
Romans 7:2
And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:10,11
Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. And did not he make one?...That he might seek a godly seed...For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away:..
Malachi 2:14-16
Whose Fault Is Divorce?
(a) God places the responsibility of cleaving on the man. He leaves and cleaves (glues) to his wife.
(b) Divorce occurs when he is not able to cleave tightly enough to become inseparable.
(c) Marriage rests on the shoulders of the man, just the same way divorce also does.
(d) Whatever happens in the home is the man’s responsibility, although it may not be his fault.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:24
When man fell and God came to the garden, He first called out to Adam and placed the responsibility for eating the fruit at his feet. There were no questions for the woman.1
Complications of Divorce
God, generally, does not like broken fellowship of any sort. The concept of a broken home or broken lives hurts God.2
(a) An unending hurt is inflicted.
The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
Proverbs 17:14
(b) A bitter personality is created.
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
Proverbs 18:14
(c) There is a permanent break-up of relationship/fellowship.
A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
Proverbs 18:19
(d) Destruction of happiness.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:10
e) A broken/wounded spirit and emotions:
i. Marriage involves emotions, so a breakdown leads to the tearing apart of soul ties.
ii. Both partners are often destroyed, sometimes beyond full recovery.
iii. Separation is the termination of a commitment with emotional involvement.
iv. Divorce is legalized separation.
v. A vow is unto death: Don’t make it if you are not going to keep it.
When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.
Ecclesiastes 5:4,5
(f) Bitterness (long-standing and degenerate unforgiveness).
(g) Tremendous pain.
(h) A permanent scar.
(i) You will be handicapped. There are things you can’t do well anymore.
(j) Distress––similar to the feeling of bereavement that follows the death of someone close to you.
(k) Depression:
i. Caused by contrasting how you thought things were going to be for the rest of your life and how they apparently will be following the divorce.
ii. Depression stems from feelings of rejection which can lead to withdrawal from everybody.3
Difficulties of Remarriage and Singlehood
(a) You will probably encounter the same problems again.
(b) You will always wonder whether you could not have made your marriage work.
(c) The children will be greatly affected and may become social deviants. This is very common.
(d) You may always suffer from the broken/wounded spirit, bitterness and deep seated resentment, which will have a very bad effect on your spiritual and prayer life.4
Predisposing Factors to Divorce
(a) Adultery––when adultery occurs, it leads to mistrust and eventually a breakdown of the whole marital union.
(b) Unresolved hurts and offences leading to a state of chronic unhappiness and depression.
(c) Violence in the marriage––where one party resorts to violence and sharp abusive words to resolve conflicts.
(d) Childlessness––some people allow a situation of childlessness to degenerate into a break-up of the relationship.
(e) Long separation––where one spouse travels to live in another country and the other is unable to join due to inability to obtain the necessary visa.
(f) Interference from relatives and friends:
i. Too much parental influence and control.
ii. Too many dependents from extended family members.
(g) A bad attitude––a persistent and deliberate bad attitude that cannot respond to advice, rebuke, admonishing or entreaties from anyone, including the pastors.5

5. These and other factors, when unresolved, may cause the marriage to so degenerate beyond the point of repair. Divorce then becomes the unfortunate alternative. See M. G. And how does God feel about your feast days your "holidays" which is short for Holy days... Gotta ask yourself, "holy to whom?" Amos 5:21-24 KJV I HATE, I DESPISE YOUR FEAST DAYS , and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. [22] Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I WILL NOT ACCEPT THEM: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. [23] Take thou AWAY FROM ME the NOISE of thy SONGS; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. [24] But LET JUDGMENT RUN DOWN as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. So all your Amens and thank you Jesus's fall on deaf ears. Scripture says God doesn't hear them and if you think we'll that's a lie don't take my word for it. John 9:31 KJV Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. In fact if you do such things like these holidays then not only is he not hearing your prayers but he conciders them to be disgusting 🤢 Proverbs 28:9 KJV He that TURNETH AWAY his ear from hearing the law, EVEN HIS PRAYER shall be ABOMINATION. And we all know how the most high feels about abominations as they are not a light thing. Ecclesiasticus 15:13 KJVA [13]The Lord HATETH ALL ABOMINATION; and they that fear God love it not. think twice about celebrating your next "Holiday." https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo_-nl1Hw-M/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=120xcbqwcvaqr

Note
Do you have any quotes specifically about love and acceptance from general authorities?
Why yes I do ;D
“How different our world would be if all parents would apply this inspired instruction from the Book of Mormon: “Ye will not suffer your children … that they transgress the laws of God, and fight and quarrel one with another. …
“But ye will teach them to walk in the ways of truth and soberness; ye will teach them to love one another, and to serve one another.”5
If such training occurred, children and parents around this globe would join in singing, “Fill our hearts with sweet forgiving; Teach us tolerance and love.”6Men and women would respect their neighbors and the beliefs held sacred by them. No longer would ethnic jokes and cultural slurs be acceptable. The tongue of the tolerant speaks no guile.” - Teach us Tolerance and Love by Russel M Nelson (also that hymn has some beautiful lines, it’s “In Humility, Our Savior”)
“We cannot truly love God if we do not love our fellow travelers on this mortal journey.“ - Love-The Essence of the Gospel by Thomas S Monson
“As followers of Christ we should live peacefully with others who do not share our values or accept the teachings upon which they are based.“ - Loving Others and Living With Differences by Dallin H Oaks
“ Love is the measure of our faith, the inspiration for our obedience, and the true altitude of our discipleship.“ - The Love of God by Dieter F Uchtdorf (I like this one particularly bc I interpret this line to mean that how we love others is a good measure of how well we understand the gospel and know God)
“20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” - 1 john 4:20-21
“34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” -John 13
The scriptures and the prophets continually teach us that the charity we have for others is directly correlated to the love we have for God. Please everyone, feel free to add quotes you can think of!!!
