we dont give enough credit to LHL for making their characters bring evidence, including a fucking bee, for evaluation by the apothecary. they don't just know things about every other thing under the sun. they hear rumors about some famous jianghu artefacts but they actually bring medicine to the pharmacist for an expert opinion and have professionals check on the recipes

we also see li lianhua fuck around with his identity as a doctor and rely more on martial arts logic than traditional medical knowledge/experience to suggest solutions, and characters around him who HAVE a professional title in the subject are not shown to be more stupid than him. from the top of my head, I recall e.g. that whole convo he had with guan hemeng on first meeting where guan he meng ended up questioning his ethics as a doctor because his solution was basically relying on the patient's inner force. and the time he almost blew his and fang duobing's cover at the jin mantang manor. it's fine to have su xiaoyong defend li lianhua's reputation as a doctor out of friendship. it could easily become annoying if suddenly, li lianhua was shown to be a better doctor than guan hemeng

it's those subtle things that make characters feel less op i think. the show struck a careful balance between making li lianhua feel like a (burnt out) genius who knows a lot, on the one hand, and not making him too annoyingly op/perfect on the other hand

BEST EXPERIENCE : oh gosh, i think the best experience i had with my little hyv nook was exploding the dash with jing yuan's "IM GONNA FUCK THE GODS" crack born from a silly mistake LMAO. in general though the best experience i had was an exchange i had with one of my closest friends @overx, which was an ask i sent to them and one i received in response for a deity's altar meme. i cried so much, because it was one of the first times my OC had truly felt... seen. i think about it all the time

RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS : too many to list, so here's a few!

- pedestals. i want nothing to do with them. don't elevate me or other people to some sort of standard or anything like that, it genuinely sickens me to the point where i now struggle to accept normal compliments (working on it tho).

- writing for the sake of ships. some people really just want to prioritize shipping and writing romance and that's fine! you do you, but i personally cannot do it. if you approach me for a ship without us having established a dynamic for our muses before that i'm also going to feel really weird about it because i can't read the chemistry, particularly if i don't know you too well (this is also why i'm usually slow to propose ships, because i greatly prefer some sort of dynamic to bounce off of either in canon or through rp).

- teeny tiny text, elaborate formatting or oppressive colors. i'm not going to give myself a headache attempting to read someone's stuff, if it's too hard for me to decipher your posts and especially rules because you favor aesthetic over accessibility, i'm hard blocking because we will not mesh.

MUSE PREFERENCES : looking at my muse history i notice that i'm drawn to those of a nurturing type, whether it's gentle and kind or tough love. i also adore playing around with the idea of mortality or the lack there of, and what that looks like for different characters. contrasting philosophies are also incredibly fun for me! it's kind of obvious with just my muses here alone

PLOTS OR MEMES : oh it's plots for me, which is an issue because it strongly limits my ability to freely interact with others. i really really need to practice using memes more but i am Slow with my inbox and easily overwhelmed

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES : yes! i love both, short replies especially are so fun when it comes to rapid-fire dash shenanigans, but the depth of a long reply is always fun and delicious

BEST TIME TO WRITE : after my classes or while i'm in transit and have nothing better to do! can't do cars though those are too bumpy

RP PET PEEVES?: admittedly, a lot :'D but moving blogs has helped with getting away from constantly encountering these pet peeves :D if i have to name one then recently i've been getting turned off by ppl who are always their soapboxes lecturing about rp. they talk about how rp should be and how people should interact with one another, but most of the time? i hardly see them practice what they preach. if you want quality partners, you have to be one first- that's how you find ur people :/ also excessive, consistent saltiness- i get uncomfortable.

FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?: i don't really care, just as long as there's character/relationship development going on. that being said- if you want pain that will make u yell at me in the dms, hit me up ♡ ( i have references :DD )

PLOTS OR MEMES?: honestly plots all the way, but i'm also very picky with who i plot with in-depth, so memes are good ways to break the ice.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES?: i tend to match my partners so most of the time my replies end up on the longer side...that being said, i am always down for shorter threads, it's a good exercise in brevity.

Rp pet peeves: just... all the judgement, all the "don't do that" on things that truly don't even matter. The lack of communication, and communication is also something I've been trying to work on myself this past year too, because I realize I too struggle with it. Excessive drama on the dash. Lastly, the lack of participation — interacting with mutuals' ooc posts, headcanons and all that, likes or comments, so people feel heard, seen and loved.

Fluff, angst, or smut: I really enjoy fluff! But I also like angst. I will never write smut, though. Romance yes, but never smut.

Plots or memes: Memes!! Always and forever memes, I love continuing from memes, they can give little plot ideas. I am absolutely terrible at plotting and I'm very very open about how much I suck at it, no one should be surprised lol

1. How long ago did you start reading fanfiction? Writing fanfiction?

oh GOD we're talking like. sixteen, seventeen years ago? (reading). i said on the tags of that post the other day like...... I still vividly remember the very first fic i read, which was awful, but also so addictive. i was 13 or 14 at the time smh.

i think i posted my first fic when i was 15? (I just checked my ancient ffnet account and i posted it nearly 15 years ago to the day. christ almighty may god have mercy on my soul)

5. What are your fanfic pet peeves? Do they have a huge effect on whether or not you decide to read something?

i have SO many peeves and they make a huge difference lmao... i'm picky!!! probably the biggest one is when things are Too American, whether that's like. the language or the setting or whatever.

ACTUALLY my stupidest peeve is established non-canon relationship. im not reading that unless it's an OC specifically created to fuck that guy OR.. like. ok im deranged but the Joy of Shipping for me is finding out how they cross the path from what they had going in canon to whats going on in the ship universe and if you just dump me in the ship universe? fuck off lol

7. Do you prefer to read short fics or long fics?

This is a good question! my favourite kinds of fics are the ones that are like 15k long. you can get your teeth into them, but they're easy to read in one session that you're probably not going to be interrupted in.

19. Do you edit your fics after you write them, or do you prefer to just hit post and run (because it’s someone else’s problem now)?

I am in a constant state of edit so by the time the fic is Completed I'm not gonna like. comb over it in detail i just give it a final once-over and hit post. sometimes send it to a friend like "is this in english?" but half of the time i get impatient and post it before my pal wakes up lol

20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?

uh. being a silly billy :) honestly idk! i like when i get possessed by the Spirit and just have to write to get the Idea out. and i like chatting with my frends about what happen. i dont like when i am Cursed (controversial opinion)

drum kingdom rewatch reminding me of the reason i love one piece is the fact the characters at least know of how to create the illusion your characters are alive- which ultimately i think comes down to 3 main factors

i love all of one piece but the qualifying factor i love it love it is the character writing. character writing is EXTREMELY important to me so much so that it will ruin stories if theyre not up to my standards.

characters having fun for no reason. very similar to "characters speaking with eachother like theyre friends" which i go into in point 2, but to me a character isnt a Person if they dont want to have fun. you arent human if you dont want to have fun

dialogue, characters speaking to eachother like theyre friends and they know eachother. which is something i think is deemed "stupid" in art too often because its "not utilitarian enough" but it ends up with a lot of characters who speak to eachother like theyre professionals and not friends. this also applies to character voice as well, each one piece character has a unique way of speaking like human people do

characters being self aware of how they present themselves canonically. you might say oh what do you mean by this. well ill tell you.

theres this pet peeve i have with character writing which is the fact most character writing engages in the given assumption that both no character is self aware and that everything we do as human beings can be reduced down to what other people see.

what most character writing assumes is that everybody is naturally just the way that they are and they arent self aware about it or leaning into how they are or presenting themselves in a certain way because they like it or because of some other reason. people just *are*.

which is a really weird way to see other people and i think its a major and prevalent flaw in character writing that IF youre me and your special interest is media analysis about specifically character writing and youve been obsessed about this for years will ruin shit for you 100% and will make you very picky.

im also noticing on a rewatch that the longer i get away from my original op watch the fact is a lot of these character voices (i watch dub) are becoming comforting to me and im just so fucking happy about that dude. when youve literally bounced off SO many stories because every character had the exact same Way Of Speaking having several characters become comforting because of how they speak is like both a fucking miracle and a victory lap. for the record robin was first and that isnt surprising i literally get a shot of dopamine everytime she says clutch.

EXPERIENCE  /  HOW  LONG  (  MONTHS  /  YEARS? ) :　I've been rping since 2002, using UOL chat. Then I moved to Orkut, Skype groups, Tumblr, Discord, Twitter and now I'm back to Tumblr. I used to write in Portuguese only from 2002-2015, when I started writing more in English. Nowdays it's actually quite write for me to even think on responses in Portuguese.

BEST  EXPERIENCE :　I had more bad experiences than good experiences, but on the recent years I started meeting more wonderful people that became quite dear to me. I started to feel a bit more confident in my ideas (I've started getting more spontaneous compliments from rp partners and people are showing up to be more hyped up about talking and writing with me); I have also met my bf through rp (VtM rp over Twitter).

RP  PET  PEEVES  /  DEALBREAKERS :　I don't think I have a true pet peeve or a dealbreaker. However, what bothers me and affects my interest in writing is jumps between different points in the same storyline/arc. I do enjoy contemplating other points, especially future developments (especially if my rp partner and I are excited about the ideas we are building together), but the lack of continuity is somewhat of a turn-off for me when writing.

If we have a solid base thread going on, I truly don't mind occasional jumps and 'what if' small scenarios on the side. However, if the main plot/thread line is lost, and we only have smaller side-interactions, it can become a turn off to me to continue writing (save rare expections).

On an extra note: I feel less inclined (due to my anxiety) to write a lot with people I don't speak a lot ooc. Having a friendship ooc makes me a lot more comfortable and invested in writing, so yes, my friends will always have priority when it comes to replying to threads and answering asks.

MUSE  PREFERENCES  FLUFF,   ANGST  OR  SMUT :　 My preferences, in order are: Angst, Supernatural horror, romance, crack, smut and fluff.

PLOTS  OR  MEMES :　Both. It will heavily depend on the other muse and mun. If it's a muse I don't know well from a mun that I don't talk a lot or I just met, winging things up with a meme is easier. It can also become a huge plot later on, as it happened with @hexcoremagician. Our first interaction was a meme, but turned into quite a big idea that I'm super happy with. Otherwise, if I know the muse well, and in specially I know the mun and talk a lot to them, plotted goes a lot better! It's the case with @heredis-sanguinis.

LONG  OR  SHORT  REPLIES :　Again, depends. I believe everything has its value with the right moment. Small crack/random interactions can be fun with one lines or shorter replies. More complex and heavy story driven interactions it's better a few paragraphs. I'm not picky about how many, as long as they can fulfill the necessity of that thread.

'Fun' fact: I usually write more and in more detail when emotionally unwell (depressed, anxious or angry). Idk why, it doesn't make sense to me.

BEST TIME TO WRITE :　In the morning. I'm a morning person, my brain works best before lunch time. It's a lot harder for me to focus or being creative after midday (I'm used to wake up around 5:30AM, so my brain is quite tired after 2-3 pm).

ARE  YOU  LIKE  YOUR  MUSE-(S) :　I don't think so? At least not that I can see similarities between us (perhaps the rp partners that know me a bit better will be capable of answering it xD). I cannot see anything similar between me and my muses for the moment.

fluff , angst , or smut : fluff in small doses it gets boring for me fast bc I play angsty characters on purpose, love angst as long as there's a plot and characters aren't suffering for just no understandable reason. I am picky on smut bc it's so easy to write shitty, and Katherine is high maintenance 💅

long or short replies : multi para. One liners are fun sometimes but I am a heavy psychology lover, I put a lot of work into breaking my muses down to write them correctly, and one liners just don't hold enough substance to keep my attention. But they're fun for banter.

best time to write : when I have an attention span. Never lack muse, just lack attention span. It's a pain.

are you like your muse/s : for me to write a muse I need to be at least a little like them. However completely as a person psychologically I am v close to Katherine (take that as you will) but I'm also a lot like Elena depending on the day. Which makes sense bc dopplegangers, but yea. rp pet peeves/dealbreakers. call out culture. blogs that have 25,000 non-negotiable rules to read through. i also will never interact with people who roleplay as real people (like celebrities, streamers, etc). it makes me really, really uncomfortable 

fluff, angst, or smut. angst! i enjoy some fluff from time to time and haven’t written smut in a long time. i’m down for it, it just feels unlikely to happen, except maybe with eli? but whump and hurt/comfort are my top interests by far lol plots or memes. i’m a big meme person. i don’t do a lot of plotting, mainly just b/c i’m kind of bad at it and it isn’t as fun. i’m a very go-with-the-flow type of writer. many threads i start i have no idea which direction they’re about to go in. that’s what keeps it fun for me! long or short replies. medium. one-liners are very rare (pretty much just occasional opens) but my longest has been like... 7-8 paragraphs? i average around 3 paragraphs. i enjoy having partners who have longer replies because it gives me more to work with but i’m not really that picky! best time to write. whenever i’m feeling it. sometimes right after getting off of work, sometimes all day on my day off, sometimes i go through writer’s block for 2 weeks.

experience / how many years : i started writing in 2010, but i've only written on tumblr since..... 2018, i think? so, a lot of years. i've been a part of indie since 2022 tho.

best experience : when you click with a person! it's my most favorite thing about this hobby + the storylines we build together, of course! the anticipation of waiting for their next reply? the moment when you're full of muse and the words literally just flow? perfection. sadly, i get that feeling less and less as the time goes by, but... maybe it's normal?

rp pet peeves : too many ooc posts that just repeat the same stuff over and over again, i guess? there's just so many times one can say a certain thing before it gets pointless, in my opinion. but hey, everyone can do whatever they want on their own blog!

fluff, angst, or smut : fluff & angst! i just... love everything about it and i love when i make my characters suffer <33 smut is not my go-to and i'm getting more and more picky if and with whom i would write something like that, most of the time its just a personal preference!

plots or memes : how about plotting AND memes? i love to plot and figure out early on if our muses will match, but i know that sometimes it won't be as fun as to try and surprise each other with a meme and just roll from there. so throw them all at me!

long or short replies : i'm notorious for my ability to write way too much, but i'm trying to learn how to write shorter replies too, because sometimes the thread just needs it so it can move forward quickly, you know? so both!

time to write : depending on how exhausted i am and how much free time i have - it's either whenever i have time to sneak a few drafts while at work, or after 10pm when i'm all done for the day.

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT:   I don’t really feel like writing smut with even my of - age furries, but generally speaking I love em all!  I tend to gravitate towards angst, but am always happy to do some fluff, my partner will just have to be the one to come up with it most of the tie, as it doesn’t come as quick to me as angst does

PLOTS OR MEMES:   I’m horrendous at plotting (  aside from the times i’m struck with genius ways to torment my muses and all my friends get mad at me  ) but love to do it if I’ve got a partner who’ll meet me where I’m at!  That being said, I do definitely gravitate towards a “wing it and see what happens” method, which memes are good for.
