black eye literally went on top of my 'on repeat' playlist after just two kr three days and it's still there!! hdjdjdkd i love it so much, the composition, lyrics and mostly vernon's voice 😭🔥 this kind of genre fits him so well <3 i want him to release an album already 😔. i said this before too ( to so many people 😭💀) when 2 minus 1 came out, that he gives a mix of 5sos - green day vibes, i love it so much 😋

Are you staying home from work/school? nope! i dont think my job has been classified essential here in melbourne but it involves sensitive material that we havent been given permission to take home so im still going into the city every day!!!!!! super super good!!!!!!!! it’s very isolated work anyway we all stay at our lil desks and dont talk to each other.

An Introduction to Kim Namjoon

And now it is time for the wonderful Kim Namjoon aka RM aka joon bug

This post is for any new Armys out there but it’s also for people who have been around for a while, it’s an appreciation post meets an introduction post

I have quite a few appreciation posts dedicated to Namjoon, too many to link tbh but here is my official Namjoon appreciation post

Also if I miss out on something you love about him or a moment of his that you love, feel free to reply to this post with whatever you wanna add or reblog this and leave it as a comment on there, I’d love to read your guys’ personal favorite moments or qualities about Namjoon, these are just gonna be my personal favorites or things that have stuck out to me

So, an introduction to Namjoon

His full name is Kim Namjoon and his stage name is RM

His birthday is September 12th and he was born in ‘94, making him 23 internationally and I think 25 in S. Korea

I don’t really do astrology but I believe he is a Virgo, if that means anything

He is the fourth oldest member and he is a part of the ‘94 line with Hoseok

He is one of the three official rappers in BTS

I would describe joon’s rapping style as powerful

He’s got this deep ass voice and it just it’s so nice hearing him rap tbh he’s just got a s h i t ton of power in his voice when he wants to

He can also be really soft when he sings and that’s also a really amazing thing to listen to, would absolutely recommend

He and kook have done a couple songs together, they’ve done a cover of Fools by Troye Sivan, they’ve done a song called I Know, joon has also done a song with Tae called 4 O’clock, which is r e a l ly fucking good

He has also done a solo mixtape called RM

He’s released quite a few singles, some of which were from the mixtape and some weren’t

He’s released a song with Wale called Change and the lyrics in it are really fucking amazing (the video can be found on bighit’s channel)

He’s released Do You, Awakening, Joke (these can all be found on the BangtanTV channel)

He’s also been featured in a song by MFBTY called BuckuBucku, which he’s performed live with them (if you havent seen him perform it, plz go watch it bc bts were so excited in the audience and kept looking around for namjoon and got so hyped when he came out)

But his mixtape is really re a l ly good and underrated in my opinion

Namjoon is the leader of BTS and he’s a damn good one at that

You really see just why he’s the leader in American interviews

He’s amazing at encouraging the other boys to speak up during the interviews but he also knows when to step in and take over

He knows when to joke around in interviews and when to be serious about things like the album/songs and what they mean to him and the group

There’s this c la s s i c moment where it’s like a hidden camera situation and I think it’s BangPD who asks him if he’d prefer going solo or staying with BTS and without a m o m e n t of hesitation not even a second, he responds with BTS

That moment still gives me chills tbh

Now for some things joon is known for in the fandom

English

Namjoon learned English fluently by watching Friends a bunch of times

He is the only member that is considered to be fluent however the other boys are improving every time we hear them speak English so that may change v e r y soon

Intelligence

Joon has a really high IQ and he’s shown his intelligence in so many different ways

He’s obviously been able to teach himself English, which is already so fucking impressive

He’s so smart when he talks in interviews too?? like i saw this one comment that pointed out that joon’s never afraid to admit he doesn’t know what something means and that he always asks to find out

Like when someone asked him about being a heartthrob and he didn’t know what the word meant, he had z e ro hesitation to ask on the spot and find out new information and I think that’s really cool and important to note bc he’s not afraid to say hey i dont know what that is, mind explaining??

What I love about joon is that he doesn’t try too hard to come off as smart or try to boast about being smart, he embraces the fact that he’s smart and uses it to his advantage but he never rubs it anyone’s face

He’s got a really good balance of showing his intelligence and being proud of it while still being humble about it

Producing

Namjoon is another one of the main producers/composers/writers of BTS, he’s worked a l o t on their albums, there was one album I don’t remember which one but he’d literally had a part in creating almost every single song

He’s written s o many different songs for BTS

Namjoon also has started this thing where every time BTS release an album, he does a VLive and will talk about the album and sometimes, like last time, he’ll released snippets of another version of the song

So, in the last album related VLive he did, he showed what Fake Love was originally gonna sound like and that sort of insight is just honestly amazing

Dancing

Namjoon is one of the members that was not originally a dancer

With every era, his dancing just continues to get better and better and seeing his improvement is honestly so amazing

Clumsiness

Namjoon used to be referred to as the God of Destruction, I don’t see it being used as often as it used to b u t he is known for being pretty clumsy

He once almost fell over while sitting down

He’s not 100% clumsy though bc he’s actually really good at ice skating!!

A LOVE FOR CRABS

Literally just posted a video of him saying hi to a crab and is forever trying to hold them and just chill with them when he sees them he l o v es crabs and I think that’s really fucking adorable

Fashion

Joon bug has a whole OOTD series called KimDaily, which can be found on the official BTS twitter

They’re rea ll y really cute and the outfits are always just s o him like he really expresses himself in his fashion choices and I think that’s really fucking cool

Namjoon has never shied away from trying new looks, he’s worn lace and skirts and corsets and looked amazing in all of them btw

First look is probably his purple hair

I loved the styling of his hair and I loved the color and the way it looked on him and I love him and I loved this look and this era

Idk what era to put it in bc it’s technically in the Fake Love era but it’s a really recent color and is after their promotions for iT bUT

I love it okay

I can’t tell completely if it’s light brown or blonde I think it’s a really dark blonde judging from the twitter pic but on stage it looked like it could be either but i LIKE IT

Now listen I love me some namjoon but i’m gonna need him to relax with this whole look

Havent posted for a few days now but I’ve been super busy working! After leaving the tracks for a few days i came back to them and have made a few edits. A few of the timings were too long and they dragged on a bit so I shortened them, adjusted a few levels in the mix, and refined some effects. They were at a pretty good point and there was no more to the instrumentation I can do so I sent them to my friend Charlie who mix and mastered them and they’re sounding really BIG - that’s the only way I can describe them.

While that was happening I was working on magic to produce the visuals for each track. I wanted to create a boutique visual for each track and so far I’ve got 3 our of 4 done, it’s just the last one thats proving difficult as always. As well as that I’ve been putting together the layout for the video aspect of the project. Its kind of an extension of the previous layout I had for the self oscillation videos. Using a lot of the same elements but with added detail and flair so create a moer interesting visual experience. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

This has become something of a bittersweet part of the project for me. All I keep thinking about is how this project doesnt belong on a video, but in space. If Covid hadnt had happened then I think this project would be great as an experience!

I recently attended one of pitchblack playbacks albums nights. All the info is on their website but basically you go to this little place in hackney, go to a back room, put a blindfold on and listen to a full length album in pitch black through a 16 speaker soun system. I’m picturing something very similar to that but with less darkness and more screens. http://www.pitchblackplayback.com

I just think the only way to fully appreciate the essence of these tracks is in a space that allows you to do that. We are surrounded by music and the medium has become surplus to a lot of us - its all very despensable - and so these tracks may not stick out as anything amazing if you’re just sat at your laptop listening and watching the visuals on a small scale. When that happens the project becomes small scale and thats not my intention. Anyway I dont think I’ll have time to produce a plan for that by the hand-in but hopefully when the world calms down a bit I’ll be able to set this up in real life.

And not that kind of problmes of "OMG, i can't afford this new phone!" but problmes like racism, homophobia, depression, living in the streets... i associate this song with those problems.3. Small Bump - Ed Sheeran i think that i don't really need to explain why this one makes me sad...4. Fool's Gold - One Direction Maybe it's not sadness that i feel with this one, but kind off like... melancholy... because i remember a lot with this song about a recent ex-boyfriend and it is exactly how i felt the whole time... i felt used but still, i felt in love.5. Asleep - The Smithsthis is a powerfull song... i can only imagine someone so tired with everything. for me sleeping is the way to avoid my problems, but well, obviously this song is not only about sleeping.6. Hurt - Nine inch nails this one is super sad... is someone tired and feels conscious about life being hard and him won't being strong enought to keep throught this7. Disenchanted - My Chemical Romance(This one is my favorite of The Black Parade)i feel this song like... opening your eyes to the reality and seeing that you were blind the whole time. lies and more lies and people that say things that has no meaning to them but it has to you. is like seeing that not everything is color pink and sweet as everyone maked you think.8. Cancer - My Chemical RomanceUntil now, i havent lost someone important due to cancer, but listening to this song, thinking about The Pacient and all his journey in his last days, seeing that death is coming way too fast. makes me think about other people that saw their loved ones fade because of this sickness. i think the part that hits me the most is "i'm counting down the days to go", because he knows that death is near and wants to end his suffering right away.YELLOW: song that make you oddly happy (i was worried about the Blue section being to long, but this one is longer)1. Galway girl - Ed SheeranRight now, this is one of the songs of the new album that makes me smile a lot. i even dance to this one. i love it.2. C'mon Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runnersokay, this song is because.of the movie The perks of being a Wallflower. the scene were Charlie is at the dance and this song starts to play and he sees Patrick and Sam dancing to this song... it's a powerfull scene, because he goes to dance leaving behind his shyness to go with his friends. i find it amazing and inspiring, since i have social anxiety and i can't even imagine myself doing that and being as brave as Charlie in that scene, but it makes me happy3. You are the one that i want - Greasethis scene always make me smile. i dance in my spot when this song starts and i love it simply because of the cheesy that it is4. Collar full - Panic! At The Discothe rythm!!! the voice!!! ugh i can't. i love P!ATD and this one is my favorite of that album5. Party Poison - My Chemical RomanceI know that Gerard wanted a song that someone could dance to, and they maded Planetary GO! as that one, but this one is actually the one that made me dance when i first heard it. is and awesome song about standing up and fight (just as the whole album is)6. Vampire Money - My Chemical RomanceThis one makes me laugh. they wrote this song because they were offered about being in the Twilight soundtrack and they declined (and then, they go and appear in Yo Gabba Gabba omg) and is super funny7. I write sins, not tragedies -Panic! At The Disco"Oh, well imagine..." as soon as i hear that part i will start to mimic the song and i do funny voices with my brother. idk, it makes me happy8. Irresistible - Fall Out BoyPatrick's voice is my religion. Period. 9. This ain't a scene, it's an arms race - Fall Out BoyTHE VIDEO IS EVERYTHING!10. yep. so apparently this is what i’m doing with my quarantine time now.

i am going to rank every travis scott song from his studio albums. there are quite a few instances where i find it impossible to put one song over the other, so the top 1-10 is pretty interchangeable to me. including the deluxe edition songs, there are 47 songs for me to rank in total.

this is in no way me trashing trav’s music (if you don’t know me i literally live so far up his ass that if he sneezed i would come out of his nostrils and have done for many years), it’s just something that i am scarily qualified to write about and should entertain me for a while.

just as a quick pre-cursor to the list: birds is my favourite trav album by far and astroworld had a lot of skips for me, so of course that is reflected. if you don’t agree with that i don’t really care; my mind cannot be changed.

i’ll explain my choices as best as i can, let’s go

47. wonderful

i fucking HATE this song. ruins the entire vibe of birds and the only song on the entire record that i will ever skip. after having the ends as an intro and apple pie closing off rodeo, i just don’t know what this song is doing. it needs to be deleted

46. nc-17

it’s ok. i just always skip it and it’s very plain to me, i’m not mad at it

45. stop trying to be god

SO overrated. i don’t get it at all. boring fucking song to me

loved it when i first heard it but it got old super quickly and has little replay value to me. bangs when you haven’t heard it in a while

in theory i should like it but i just don’t like the execution. i appreciate it but it’s not for me

i know this song gets trashed on a lot and i dont agree with that completely. it’s a good song but again doesn’t have the heavy replay value that the majority of rodeo has (not to mention it ruins the flow of rodeo, in my opinion)

40. houstonfornication

OVERRATED. when astroworld dropped i saw so so many people putting this in their top 3 off the record and i simply don’t get it at all. it’s a solid song but it’s boring, i never find myself putting this song on voluntarily

39. sicko mode

it was inevitably going to come in low. you may know that i dont trash talk drake, but seriously fuck the second half of this song that drake RUINS. i could happily go about the rest of my life without hearing this song ever again. trav’s first verse is the only reason this is not placed in the 40’s

38. ok alright

from this point on i dont dislike any of these songs and this was pretty painful to place. this song goes, but i am unable to place it any higher. it just feels like a (very good) throwaway track that got slung onto the deluxe edition. also q and trav should sound better than this, i think they could’ve made something better than this track together, i wanted their song to sound like it could’ve been on oxymoron (a wholly flawless record).

37. who? what!

i’m actually really fond of this song and listen to it a lot. to me it just sounds out of place on astroworld and was definitely a huncho jack throwaway

the beat change aged like old milk. i will admit when i first heard this though, i loved it so much. and the feeling you get when the intro to stargazing starts playing before trav comes out on stage is unmatched, so it has a special place in my heart for that alone. in terms of astroworld as a whole, i think it’s the perfect first song for the album

maybe ive heard it way too many times, i’m not sure. but it would feel wrong for me to place this in my top 30, i dont find myself putting it on ever. a classic nevertheless

i used to fuck with this song so much but recently it’s just not doing it for me. something about listening to it now just makes it sound corny to me. “wanna know my dick longer than a pringle box” will live on forever

bangs, but again this song is corny as fuck (maybe it’s just the weeknd as i’m seeing a theme now)

solid song, can’t put m y finger on it but it just lacks personality, outro is godly though

i love this song seriously, but i can understand why lots of people don’t. it fits perfectly on birds and it’s placement within the album is stunning, but as a standalone track it’s pretty weak. i would love trav to make more songs in this style

this song is slept on, i love it so much. but if the yung lean version had made it onto rodeo this would be a top 10 track EASY.

29. butterfly effect

we all know this song goes, i listened to this way way way too much when it was first released

this was painful. the 21 savage feature is flawless, this song is so interesting to me. beat is gorgeous

pretty song, didn’t blow me away but i’m super fond of it. the way tracks 11-15 of astroworld play is perfect and really redeemed the album for me

we made it!!!! honestly i struggled so fucking much to find a #1 but i think it will have to be this song because it is just so sentimental to me. when i first listened to rodeo this was immediately my favourite song off it and it still remains perfect in every way several years on. quavo in the second half of the song is STUNNING, words just dont do anything about this song justice
