They’re disasters as parents but they try their best and are always having fun - Nori adores them! In their house not a minutes goes by without someone laughing, they’re all super loud and cheerful always~ neither of them has any problem dealing with Nori’s quirk, Sero has spent a whole lifetime learning how to deal with sticky stuff and tape and glue so he knows all the tricks to save clothes and furniture from accidental quirk usage and so on, while Mina’s own quirk makes it easy to counter any glue that might end on her - the main thing actually is that the quirk itself was a surprise! Since Nori looks a lot like Mina, both she and Sero had expected her to have acid like Mina so when she started gluing herself around in places and walking along walls and stuff it was a surprise (they had expected to have to deal with the house being constantly half destroyed by acid though, so glue is nothing compared to that haha)

ahhhhh ok here we go!! so i’ve actually talked about all the songs, except the ones from tear, because i’ve never got to talk about the ones from her before (although i didn’t say much about some of them since i’ve heard them a lot so idk what to say really) so this is pretty long lmao

ahhh and like last time i listened again w/ lyrics and some of them a couple more times so it’s not exactly ~first impressions but close enough,,,, also this is a mess^tm and really inconsistent in terms of how much i say about everything (like, half of it is about trivia: love, epiphany and answer: love myself tbh omg)

ok firstly the progression on the first disc from euphoria to answer love yourself is incredible you really do get a sense of the journey that this series takes you on wow

euphoria: full studio version of euphoria i am YELLING i really love this song and jk’s voice sounds so lovely and ofc i loved the version we got in the video but with the extra parts it’s just beautiful, i love the ‘euphoria’ at the end of the last chorus, the way it rises is just lovely and hmm i’m,,,, not actually sure whether i’ve actually looked at the lyrics before?? but ofc it’s a beautifully written song

epiphany: (ok the bit until // is what i wrote after the mv dropped and then i added some stuff listening to the album) you know how we both said we were !!! every time jin sang on tear?! this was a whole song of that wow truly blessed!! ok so firstly, the style of song is the kind of style that i really like, i’m always drawn to their more ballad-esque songs and this is no exception. and god it’s so perfect for jin?? he voice sounds heavenly and just works /so/ well with this style of music (the same for the other intros & euphoria, they really killed it with showing the individual voices of the vocal line throughout the love yourself series bless) ahhh and the lyrics are so beautiful and the message of love yourself within them just wraps the series up so nicely like ‘i’m the one i should love in this world’ and ‘not so perfect but so beautiful’ are so meaningful,,,, // OMG AND THE BITS THAT WEREN’T IN THE MV I JUST GASPED and god the lyrics for the new parts as well this whole song and message makes me so emotional i,,,,,

Lately I’ve been trying to stay away from bts and the fandom bc I feel like it’s toxic for me. After all they’re all just humans who get tired and lonely and miserable and aren’t perfect, yet we idolize them and depend on them for our happiness. Of course we should support them, but it’s to the point where it’s frickin ridiculous, like nothing exists without bts, u know what I mean? 2/?

And I’m at the point of life where t depends on me to make my own decisions and make choices that will shape my future, and I really don’t want to look back and regret wasting time watching videos and thinking about things that will essentially have no impact on my life. What I like about bts is that they seem to have a deeper motive behind just simple Kpop, but I think I’ve taken that too far to an extent where it’s become my excuse. 3/?

Bts are seven people who have worked hard to deserve recognition and truly deserve it, but they’re also seven men who have separate lives from me that I have nothing to do with. I deleted Twitter and unfollowed all bts accounts on insta and tumblr, but without it I feel like I’m missing something 8/?

yes, bts are just humans who get tired and lonely and miserable and aren’t perfect, but rather than idolizing them, it’s perfectly okay to like them for who they are as people and for the music they produce. it’s okay to appreciate someone for the work they do, like how we enjoy artwork and appreciate the artist for creating them or how we like the flowers planted in the park and appreciate the gardener for planting them.

i wouldn’t say that my happiness depends completely on them, but they do make up a little part of it because their music makes me happy. and music is supposed to make you feel things. their funny videos can make you happy, and that’s okay, too. i see stanning bts as a hobby i enjoy at times, not as my only source of happiness, because there’s so much more that makes me happy, like flowers, food, art, etc. however, depending on one thing for happiness is unhealthy, so i do agree that an obsession with bts is bad. there’s nothing wrong with supporting them, but yes, having a mindset that only bts exists is unhealthy. i just found this post that better explains how stanning a group is good and bad through the psychological point of view, and it’s pretty interesting! :D

i don’t think you’re wasting time watching videos of them. if they made you happy at the time, if they made you laugh when you were sad, then it was worth it. unless you’re choosing to watch videos 24/7 and neglecting your family, friends, academics, job, health, etc. then i don’t think it’s necessarily bad that you’re watching videos. it’s like watching your favorite tv shows or playing sports. it’s just another hobby. it has an impact on your life because it makes you happier.

i do understand your concern though as you move into a new chapter of your life. personally, i’m not as into them as i once was back in high school anymore. i did spend a good deal of time writing and posting a fic about them once a week. it really changed when i went to college though since my priorities and time commitments changed. i think you might be more occupied with them when there isn’t something else to fill that aspect in your life if that makes sense? i wasn’t particularly academically simulated in high school, so i had a lot of time on my hands even after spending time with friends and doing clubs. i got into kpop because that’s something easily accessible and it’s entertaining. but with the freedom that comes with college and harder classes, my time is filled more with going out with friends, studying, painting, spending time with my roommates, etc. and bts got less of my time.

yes, bts are people with separate lives who you may never meet, but that doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate and like them for what they do. and, they might not show everything about themselves to the public, but we can learn from the good examples they do show, such as their UNICEF work and lyrics that talk about more than just romantic love. i personally think that most of what they show is genuine, but there is a line to be drawn between enjoying the work they do and believing they are gods. but yes, i do get that their personas to the public can be fake, which is a bit /: because yeah, there are people who are in love with them and dedicate their lives to them, but we really don’t know who bts actually are.

i think, rather than idolizing them, it’s better to see them as humans and as people just like us. that tends to take away any fantasies or expectations i have of them. yes, they are kpop idols, and that’s their job. they’re just working to make a living doing what they love. yes, the industry is built upon the fans, but it’s like that with any music artist or celebrity. i think it’s okay to like bts, but not to the point where your love for them surpasses the love you have for people who are actually in your life.

and you’re making sense, don’t worry! i hope my answer makes sense, too. i think every fan goes through where you’re at right now. i had felt that way about bts and exo before, but i moved on from that and now see them as people whom i appreciate. it was just a process for me, but i think it has to do with me filling my time with other things and spending time with people i thought were more important, and my love for kpop is now just something that brightens my day a bit if i ever need it.

some fans can be very… enthusiastic, but that might just be because they don’t have anyone else to talk to about bts. but yes, i get what you’re talking about. sometimes, it’s exhausting to just talk about one thing all the time and be seen as just a bts fan, and not as your own person. but even myself, i think it’s exciting to find someone else that listens to kpop since for me, there aren’t that many people around me who do. but after the initial excitement, i’ve made many friends through our mutual love for bts. as friendships grow, we talk about other interests we have and other things we like, so we don’t always talk about kpop. many of my friendships started from a mutual interest, whether it be bts or art or a mutual dislike for a teacher or class subject haha, but it grows from there as we talk about other things and get to know each other.

it’s fun to have someone to talk about comebacks and mv’s with, but yeah, i get that there’s more to talk about. maybe you can try introducing a new topic? or going out with friends who don’t listen to bts? and hey, we can be friends if you want :D you can talk to me about your day, your favorite foods, your favorite tv shows, any pets if you have them, anything else you want! i haven’t listened to bts for a while now either, i only follow their official account on instagram, and i don’t check my tumblr for days, even months during the school year. i don’t think you have to cut them out entirely to the point where you feel like something is missing. but if you are no longer interested in them, do you have any hobbies you can use to fill up that missing feeling? maybe baking or cooking? drawing? going out with friends?

I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch Wynonna Earp since they killed Dolls. How is it?

hey anon! omg this got… ramble-y. and i might have strayed way off topic, but i used to talk about wynonna earp ad nauseam and haven’t gotten the chance to do that in a while so i’m sorry in advance

it would definitely depend on who you ask. i know there are tons of people who are loving the show more than ever. unfortunately… i am not one of those people :/

it’s complicated because i have immense love/appreciation for the cast so i do still enjoy it in the sense that i love to see what they do with the material and how much fun they have creating the show, but…

i’ve only watched season 3 once—when it aired back in 2018, so my memory is a bit foggy—and considering i watched seasons 1 and 2 approximately 5 times each, season 3 must have been lacking.

i’ve always had my issues with the show and the showrunner—issues that extend back to the beginning of the show—but i loved the show so deeply that they didn’t really hinder my viewing experience because nothing is perfect, ya know? but lately those issues do seem to bother me more?? which might be due to my complicated feelings around dolls dying or because i just don’t enjoy the show as much? idk it’s hard to tell

but back to your question. how’s the show been since 3x02? there are a few things that jump out to me. some of them negatively impact my enjoyment of the show, others don’t… it’s all subjective really. so let’s get into it! (under a cut to save your dashboards. pls let the cut work)

quirks of the show

since you’ve watched the show, i’m sure you’re familiar with it’s quirks. the one liners, kind of campy vibe, etc. personally, i find they really leaned into the quirks a lot more throughout season 3 and it was definitely something that really stood out to me when watching the season 4 premiere—though that could be because it had been so long since i’ve watched the show. it makes sense to me. the showrunner is on twitter so i’m sure she’s seen the love for those quirks because they do make the show unique in a sense. plus i feel like any show with such identifiable quirks tends to lean into them over time? so, if you loved that aspect of the show and wanted more of it, you’ll probably enjoy it. if it’s something you didn’t really like about the show, then you might not like how they’ve leaned into it

character dynamics

dolls was one of the main characters—shamier’s name was the second to appear in the opening credit sequence—so his leaving was definitely going to throw off some of the dynamics for a hot minute. any show where a main character leaves is going to have to adjust and figure out how to balance the dynamics in the absence of that character. wynonna was often paired up with dolls in scenes, so who is she going to be in scenes with now? how is that going to throw off how that character interacts with others? will there be more group scenes to offset this? how does dolls’ death impact how wynonna handles situations/relationships? will characters interact with one another differently now that they’ve lost a really close friend? etc.

i don’t know if others would agree, but i think the show really struggled with this and still hasn’t quite found its footing yet. personally, i found dolls to be a grounding force in the show and a tether for the other characters, so without him the characters have felt a little… i don’t know… adrift? (words are not coming easily to me this morning). i wouldn’t necessarily mind it as much if they had the characters kind of recognize how weird/difficult/different things are without dolls, which they did in the first episode after he died, but then after that it kind of seemed like it was water under the bridge? and they moved on? and sure the plot moves quickly so the characters don’t have time to dwell on things, but i feel like they tried to pack in all the emotional beats into one episode and move on rather than play it out over the course of the season. some people might not mind that, but idk i just feel like they fumbled a little on that one.

doc (i’m gonna preface this by saying that i don’t mind doc, he’s not high up on my list of favourite characters, but i don’t dislike him either)

this one is just a personal gripe of my own so i’m not gonna get too much into it—especially because as a big dolls fan, i’m obviously very biased in this regard. this gripe existed long before dolls died, but has only been amplified since. and it has to do with fandom in general as much as it does the writing. it’s one of those things where fandom ended up interfering with my enjoyment so i had to take a step back.

doc always seemed to get more sympathy/screen time/backstory than dolls. which, i understand on some level because he’s doc holliday best friend to wyatt earp… but idk i just find it disappointing that the show spends so much time/focus/attention on him in comparison to other characters. like at what point can we shift the focus from his man pain and focus on the backgrounds of other characters. the show will spend full episodes exploring his past and feelings, meanwhile we’ve barely scratched the surface on almost every other character (and don’t get me started on how despite shamier being the second billed actor and the only character truly tying the show to BBD, he was criminally sidelined a lot of the time. not to mention fan reaction to shamier vs. tim. i love them both, but it’s clear that the fandom has a preference...)

plot in general

the plot has always been somewhat convoluted, which was never an issue for me before because i would watch episodes 3, 4, 5, sometimes 6 times. but i haven’t rewatched a single episode from 3x02 on and i don’t pay super close attention when i do watch. i guess i’ve become a more casual viewer, so i find it’s harder for me to keep up with the storyline and fully understand what’s going on. like i could tell you a couple overall arcs from season 3 maybe? but i could not explain to you what happened in detail and there are many things i’m confused about. things that would probably get cleared up with a rewatch, but i’m just not that invested anymore. i do feel like the show is catered to die hard fans though so it is what it is.

overall, the show has not really changed all that much, i suppose. it’s leaned into its quirks more and has expanded on its supernatural elements (they’ve begun including other supernatural creatures). wynonna continues to be one of my favourite characters on tv and i do want to know what happens, but there is definitely a dolls sized hole in the show for me. so if you are a dolls fan (which based on your ask, it seems you are) his absence might be a difficult hurdle when it comes to loving the show in the same capacity as before.

(i wasn’t sure whether i wanted to include this or not, but i decided to because it definitely impacts my feelings toward the show. having a showrunner be really active on social media is… interesting. i think some of my disillusionment with the show stems from how she interacts with the fandom and how certain portions of the fandom interact with her. i don’t like judging people, especially those i don’t know, so i will leave it at that. but it has definitely unintentionally impacted how i enjoy the show, so take what i’ve said with a grain of salt lol)
