𝑳𝒆𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒖𝒏𝒈 - 이희승
recently, you have been tasked by your professor to tutor lee heeseung. heeseung was your typical jock, he played football, he was tall, muscular, handsome, and was practically failing his classes. heeseung was very popular around your school so when you started tutoring him a couple months ago, people thought that you two looked really cute together. over the time, you found yourself falling more and more for heeseung's flirty nature. the truth was, heeseung actually liked you for a long time now and felt like he practically won the whole lottery when he was told that you would be his tutor. one afternoon, you received a text from heeseung, asking you to meet him in the school garden. confused, you made your way to the garden, spotting heeseung in the middle. "y/n, i don't really know how to say this so i'll just be straightforward with it. i- i really like you and i have for a really long time and i've just been too scared to say anything because i was scared you didn't feel the same way!" you found him quite cute the way he shut his eyes and just let his words spill out, in hopes that it would make sense to you. "heeseung, i like you too. i'm so glad you were able to tell me how you felt" you smiled. you will never forget the way his eyes lit up and he pulled you into the sweetest embrace, mumbling into your hair how he would never ever hurt you. man, you got so lucky with this one.
𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑱𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒈 - 박종성
it wasn't like jay was a bad student, he just had been struggling in the english class a bit more than he would've liked. but when he got the news from his professor that you would be his tutor, he was beyond excited. he had been hiding a 3-year-long crush on you for forever and he felt that now was his chance to finally make his move. you two had instantly clicked during your first tutoring session and you had secretly been crushing on him for the past few weeks as you tutored him. jay couldn't just let you slip thru his fingers yet so he decided to pick up the courage to ask you out. while you were studying, you felt your phone ping on the desk next to you. looking at it, you saw it was from jay. it read: hey ynnie! i'm sorry i'm too much of a chicken to come ask you in person but, did you maybe wanna go out sometime with me? y'know as a date? lmk and we can plan! <3 maybe your love life wasn't so sad after all.
𝑺𝒊𝒎 𝑱𝒂𝒆𝒚𝒖𝒏 - 심재윤
jake wasn't exactly the brightest when it came to some of your classes, so when you started to tutor him, you began to see why he didn't fully understand the work. he was easily distracted, resembling an adorable golden retriever, and although it was hard to tutor him, you couldn't help but catch feelings for the boy. he was so sweet and kind and you smiled so much your cheeks hurt whenever you were around him. jake on the other hand, was always so nervous whenever you two had a study session because how could he ever act normal when the prettiest, sweetest girl was tutoring him? he was head over heels for you and anyone could see it. it just happened that you were a bit oblivious to things like that and completely missed the way his eyes would form into little hearts whenever you would walk by. jake always thought that you were wayyy too good for him. you were basically just a fantasy that he couldn't obtain. everyday, both you and him would fall more and more into a love spell with each other with the other not knowing anything about the feelings. so it was a bit nerve-wracking when you received a confession letter from jake, saying how in-love he was with you and how he didn't exactly have the courage to go up to you and say it to your pretty face. but in the end, it all worked out as he was able to win your heart and take you on a date (later on, dating).
𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒏 - 박성훈
park sunghoon was the school's best ice skater, but when he started to fall behind in his math class, it posed as a great threat to him. if his grades were not good enough, he wouldn't be able to participate in the competitions. therefore, he needed a tutor asap. that's where you come in. he came up to you one day, practically begging for you to tutor him since you two shared a math class, only agreeing because you had a massive slight crush on him.you had only really seen sunghoon during the ice skating competitions, but being able to enjoy his real personality up-close like this was even better. he was actually a naturally charming guy and he was so sweet with you. no one in their right mind would be able to resist his charm. sunghoon had also been slightly crushing on you since you've started tutoring him. the way you were genuine with him and didn't just want to be near him cause of who his reputation was, but for his actual personality. one session, he had abruptly stopped the lesson and turned towards you. "i think i would go crazy if i didn't say this now so y/n, i like you. i've never felt like this for anyone and i really don't want to mess this up, and it's totally fine if you don't feel the same beca-" you quickly shut him up with a kiss, just so happy to hear that your crush was mutual and not just one sided. "it's okay, i like you too" the two of you just smiling like idiots.
𝑲𝒊𝒎 𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒐𝒐 - 김선우
at first, you were really shocked to hear that you would be tutoring kim sunoo because you thought he had decent grades? but nonetheless, you were excited. you actually had a massive crush in sunoo since forever but you were way too shy to go up and confess, so you were hoping to make a good impression on him. kim sunoo actually did know who you were and he would be lying if he said he didn't find you a tad bit cute. you were exactly his type and you were so so so so sweet. you two were an immediate bond at your first tutoring session and the both of you were practically made for each other. other students already thought you were dating with how close you two had become. but one late afternoon, when sunoo sits you down, telling you he had something to tell you, the last the you expected to hear was his confession to you. he expressed how much he loves being with you and how he didn't want to ruin your friendship if you didn't feel the same, he just needed to let you know. smiling at him, you let him know how head over heels you are for him too and now you two can proudly confirm whenever someone asks if you two are dating.
𝒀𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒘𝒐𝒏 - 양정원
jungwon was the student body president so he was the obvious choice to go to when you needed some extra help in your bio class. he was so sweet about it and totally understood your situation, and agreed to tutoring you. the first month was amazing as you could already see an improvement in your grade! but you also noticed how your heart would start beating 10x faster when jungwon was around you. you admired his stunning face so often that you could draw it with your eyes closed. what you didn't know was that jungwon was also feeling the same way about you as you were him. it made him slightly nervous due to the fact that he had never felt this way before. after consulting his friends, he mustered up some courage to buy some flowers and ask you out on a date, old fashioned style. when you opened your door, you definitely did not expect to see jungwon there with a bouquet of your favorite flowers. "oh! uhh i prepared what i was gonna say but i think i just forgot it all. whatever, i'll just say it. i like you y/n and it's okay with you, i was wondering if you wanted to go on a date?...with me?" he asked nervously. it was safe to say that it was the best date you have ever been on.
𝑵𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒎𝒖𝒓𝒂 𝑹𝒊𝒌𝒊 - 西村 力
we all know that ni-ki is not a school person whatsoever. so it isn't a shocker when the professor tells him he has a new tutor waiting for him in the library. you had no idea that you were gonna be tutoring your middle-school crush and to be honest, it made you want to dig a hole and cry in it. ni-ki made you nervous whenever he was around so you had no idea how you were gonna tutor him for the rest of the semester. he was such a flirt with you and it definitely did not help your crush on him at all. ni-ki had also been going through a bit of a crisis because why was he suddenly feeling butterflies in his stomach whenever he would see you? what spell did you cast on him? your tutoring sessions had just convinced ni-ki further that he had fallen into you game of love because he could not focus on the work anymore, preferring to study you flawless face instead. one evening, ni-ki and you were having a late session when he suddenly looked at you. "what? do i have something on my face?" you asked, confused. "uhh n-no i just- i- ugh. i like you y/n. all of these tutoring sessions have made me realize that and i just needed to get it off my chest." he sighed, looking away and you swear you saw a dust of pink on his cheeks. "aww ni-ki..." you smile. "don't tell anyone, but i think i have a crush on you too," you whisper. thank god for these tutoring sessions, cause now nishimura riki has the most perfect girl in the world.

Crashing Waves // Chapter 6 // Namor
Tumblr media
Pairing: Namor x POC Reader
Warning: Spoilers // Violence // Mentioned Death // PTSD
 Chapter 5 // Chapter 7
Tumblr media
You kept your back turned as Attuma approached slowly.  "We've been instructed to hold you here until K'uk'ulkan returns." He told you. His english is more fluent than you thought.
"Why, so he can kill me?" You asked and neither one of them said anything. Their silence answered your question and you went through all your options in your head. You don't do anything, you die. If you fight back, you might die. Conjuring enough energy to telepathically out of here would leave you very incapacitated. At least if you fight, you can take a few of them with you. Not all of them are immortal. You had made up your mind and prepared to fight as Namor stalked into the room and quickly grabbed hold of your wrist.
You admit it caught you off guard but you quickly snatched his hand off of you and he walked closer until your noses were almost touching.
"You informed the princess of my visit." He questioned in a low voice and for the first time you were intimidated by the man before you.
"Yeah I did. She needs to know who she's dealing with." You replied gaining a tad bit of confidence.
"K'a'abet a yantalto'on le kiinsik"
(You should have killed her!")
Namora shouted in their mother tongue and you scoffed as you turned to her. "Bitch you got one more time!"
She glared at you before gripping her spear as you manifested your energy in your hand. "Enough Namora!" Both your eyes widened at Namor's booming voice and Namora bowed her head in submission.
"In akaljantik K'uk'ulkan"
("I'm sorry, K'uk'ulkan")
You zipped your lips shut before he waved for the two to leave the area. He stood in silence before he started taking a step, forcing you to back away. Your back hit the wall and you realized he had you trapped.
"You are down under the surface, with no one here to help you. The only family you have up there is your brother who is off doing his own thing. I show you Talokan and you're still trying to protect Wakanda?" He said as his hand balled into a fist.
"You don't have to remind me, your highness. I'm well aware of my situation." You said and he scoffed.
"Then why go against me? You saw how it ends for people who go against me." His eyes held so much rage that you couldn't look anywhere else in the room.
"I've said it before and I'll say it again. I owe Wakanda so much after all they've done for me. They've done so much for me. Just as they were for me, I'm prepared to sacrifice my life. I'll gladly do it twice." You told him with a frown trying not to cry in front of him.
"I could've killed you on that boat. Slaughtered you like the rest of them." You couldn't help the tear that began to roll down your cheeks as he spoke to you. Words filled with malice.
"Then why didn't you? Maybe then I wouldn't have interfered? I would've been with the ancestors like the rest of my family." You spoke in anger as you finally pushed him away. He stumbled back a couple of steps and you scoffed.
"You have no idea what it's like! Becoming this!" Your hands flew up before being engulfed in the green energy. "You had people who were behind you since before you were even born. They were your followers before you even entered this world. Me? I became an outcast. A freak is one thing but a black freak! You would never understand the pain I felt!" You screamed and Attuma stood by in case he had to help his leader.
"You know what. Fuck explaining right." You said before you walked up to Namor, placing your hand on his head. The two of you ended up in a middle school bathroom in Oakland. There was a little girl crying in the bathroom when three more young girls walked into the area.
"Y/N the freak? Who would've thought. It's always the quiet ones." One girl laughed as another threw her open water bottle over the stall. The water splashed on the poor girl and the door slowly opened to show her wiping the liquid off her face. Namor watched on as the girl turned to the bullies with a burning fire in her eyes. She lifted her hands and one of the bullies flew back into the wall. Another girl dropped her bag before getting tossed into a stall. The last girl went to throw a punch but young Y/N threw one first. The girl hit the floor as Y/N continued to beat her into the ground.
You didn't say anything as you watched a teacher rush in to break up the fight. Seeing as the other two were unconscious she quickly called for the nurse. She angrily told the last girl to go to the principal's office while your parents were called. That was the last time you attended school. Your parents isolate you from everything. Even themselves. You were alone. You brought up the memory you had buried away, telling yourself you would never have to go through that pain again. Your childhood home. Your father tried his best to fight off the intruders while your mother called the police. The first shot rang through the air and your mother dropped the phone as she pushed you into the closet. Your brother was away at a friend's house at the time so you had to cry to yourself.
The next thing you heard was your mother scream before another shot rang through the air. And then another. The silence became too loud for your racing mind to comprehend. You pushed out of the closet and went into the hall where your parents lay dead in a pool of their own blood. You screamed in horror as the intruders turned to you, slowly lifting their gun.
"I felt as if the world was punishing me for having these powers." You mumbled as Namor turned to you. Your face held no rage, only sadness.
When the masked man pulled the trigger, something inside of you broke. You were alone. Again. The bullet stopped mid air as your brown eyes now glowed green. The fro on your hair had streaks of green running through the strands of hair like lightning. You raised your hand and the bullet flew back into the direction of the mask man, hitting him right in the throat. The other man tried to run but with the twitch of your fingers, his neck snapped. You were so far gone that you didn't even hear the sirens approaching your home. Two officers rushed into the house only to be met with a hell bent mutant child. You attacked the officers and that's how you ended up in the next part of your life. Locked up in a prison with a collar around your neck. The collar is meant to restrain any use of your powers. You lost contact with your brother, and any other family you had. All assumed you had died that night with your parents. You spent 7 years of your life in that hell before you came in contact with Ulysses Klaue and Erik Stevens. Apparently they had done their research on you and required your powers for a Vibranium bust. Unfortunately Erik was the closest thing to a brother you had. stood by them all the way from the gallery bust up to Erik's betrayal. He killed his lover and then Klaue. When you asked if he would kill you too, he refused. He couldn't bring himself to kill you as you were still a misunderstood child. He instead brought you with him. To Wakanda. It was during battle where you had a change of heart. Shuri refused to fight you and instead talked you down. How you don't have to be alone. How you can have a family again. She was willing to offer her friendship mid fight. You went to reply before Erik began to taunt her and they fought soon after. When he went for the killing blow you jumped in front of her letting the spear impale you instead. She used her kimoyo bead to keep you from bleeding out. To save your life.
When Erik finally fell, you had managed to sneak away holding the wound in your stomach. T'Challa found you sitting by the river border soon after, wrapping your stomach.
"Are you here to arrest me?" You asked in a flat tone.
"No, Shuri told me what you did for her. I know where you came from. I know why you helped him. And I will not scold you for it. I've come to extend an offer to you." He had your attention and gave you a genuine smile. "Stay here in Wakanda. Make up for your wrongs and start a new life. You will never be alone again." You stared at him with tears in your eyes before throwing yourself into his arms. "Now let's get that looked at."
He grew to be a brother figure and Shuri, a sister, your best friend. They were the first to treat you like you meant something. Regardless of the powers you possess. They never made you steal things or looked at you as if you were a walking bad luck charm. When you decided to go back to Oakland to start over, they stood behind you the whole way. You still have the kimoyo bracelet Shuri gave to you before you left.
At this point you had more tears rolling down your face as you and Namor appeared back in the cave. He stared at you with wide eyes before you felt yourself falling. It took a lot out of you to show your memories to someone else. His entire view of you changed completely. You're more than just a professor. He moved to catch you but you were now rendered unconscious. He placed you on the cot nearby as Attuma finally spoke up.
"Are you alright K'uk'ulkan?" He asked and Namor turned to him.
"What is it?"
"We've located the scientist. The Wakandans are trying to save her.
"You and Namora get ready to leave. Bring the scientist to me."
"Of course K'uk'ulkan."

Old Partner In Crime, Chapter 1: Running Away Just Made Sense
Author's Note: This fic was inspired by Arms Unfolding by dodie so y'all should go listen to that first. Also this is my first fic that I've written since my middle school LoTR phase so please be nice, haha. It's not super heavily edited, so some things might not be worded quite how I want them to be, but all my grammar and punctuation should be good because personally that pisses me off lmao.
Relationship: Juno Steel/Peter Nureyev
Tags: Cuddling/Snuggling, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Angst, Juno Steel is a Good Significant Other, Peter Nureyev is a Good Significant Other, Healing, Recovery, Communication
CWs: Mention of SH (cutting), mention of alcoholism, (everything turns out okay, I pinky promise), arguments, miscommunication, very non-explicit sex, references to past trauma, unhealthy coping mechanisms
It started all fell apart one night when Juno was out late and didn't call. The last few months had been... tense. More arguments. Less communication. When Juno was an hour later than he said he'd be, Peter started to spiral. He's left before, his mind told him. And he was right to. Peter went to the mirror in the bathroom, clutching the edges of the sink, letting the cold porcelain dig into his skin. He felt sick as he looked at himself.
Not so pretty anymore, are you? the voice in his head taunted. He deserves better. He swallowed. "I'm being ridiculous," he said aloud. "Juno's coming home. He's going to come through that door and wrap me up in his arms and kiss me like he has every single day for the last year and a half. He's just running late."
He shut his eyes tight. "He's just running late," he whispered, trying to quell his fear. He twisted the ring on his hand, the one that promised that Juno would never, ever leave. It felt too tight all of a sudden. A chain instead of a tether. He turned from the mirror and grabbed his coat from where it lay on the couch. He had to get out. He had to leave. He had to run. Every single nerve buzzed with the message that he was in danger.
He walked for two hours before he made it back to the apartment, spiraling deeper and deeper. He'd already made up his mind to go back and get the emergency bag he kept packed in the back of his closet. It was better than sleeping in an empty apartment. When he got back, however, he saw Juno on the couch, head in his hands, a glass and a half empty bottle of whiskey sitting in front of him on the coffee table. Peter would've sworn that bottle was full this morning. Juno had been drinking more than usual, now that he thought about it.
Juno looked up at him. "Nureyev, where the hell have you been?" Juno snapped and Peter flinched.
Then something hard and angry and bitter lodged in his heart. "I could ask you the same question, Juno. I went for a walk, that's all. You were late and I was worried and-"
Juno gave a little disbelieving laugh. "You were running away, weren't you? Or planning on it, at least. God, Nureyev, it's been, what, three years now, and you still can't fucking trust me? I come home an hour late and you completely lose it?"
"Why are you angry at me?"
"Because you can't seem to believe for a moment that I'm not going to leave. And now I can't trust that you weren't. I bet you were just about to grab that bag you think I don't know about from the closet and run off to who knows where if I wasn't here."
"Juno, I'm sorry, but you didn't call or message or anything and I had no idea where-"
"Oh, grow up, Nureyev."
"Juno, I don't want to fight-"
"Fine! Then we won't! I'm going to Rita's."
Peter's face hardened a little. "Fine."
Peter thought in that moment that if this was one of those romantic dramas Rita watched he'd realize that if he let Juno walk out that door right now, their marriage would be over, that he should run after him and grab his arm and tell him he loved him.
But he didn't. He watched Juno leave and then silently poured himself a glass of whiskey from the bottle on the table, downed it, and poured another. He stared into space for a long while, feeling the urge to do something he hadn't done since he and Juno had reunited. He wanted to feel cold, sharp metal against his skin, to-
No. He couldn't do that, because Juno would notice next time they-
Wait.
It's not like he loves you anymore. You've known it for months now. It's not like he'll see you with your clothes off anytime soon.
An hour later, Peter was glad that Juno had bought bandages recently.
He curled up in bed and wept until he fell asleep.

Happy Birthday
Rio one shot about how he got to camp!!! Tw for child abuse.
Reusing my usual tag list: @cabin-12-resident-daddy-issues @dawn-lovelace @dionysus-god-of-all-things-wine @childofthewargod
April 21st, 2019
Rio woke up when the captain america alarm clock on his nightstand started buzzing at 7 am, just like it did every morning
But this time the date on the screen read '4/21', his birthday
His tenth birthday, specifically
Rio was never particularly excited to wake up on a school day, but he couldn't help but grin just a little this time
He got up and got dressed before running off to the kitchen to drop a couple pieces of bread in the toaster
He could hear the sounds of a blow dryer from his mom's bathroom and the occasional curse in ancient greek when she dropped something
He hopped up and sat on the counter when he ate his toast. He wasn't allowed to sit on the counter, but it was his birthday! He could allow himself a little bit of mischief before school
He quickly got down when he heard his mother come out of the bathroom, brushing the crumbs off his shirt
"Go get your bag" His mother said just as coldly as always as she grabbed a frying pan that she'd used to make her own breakfast and put it in the sink
"Yes ma'am"
He grabbed his bag and they were on their way, the radio in his mother's car sat to the 90s station as always
He waited for her to say something about what day it was. Just one happy birthday would satisfy him, that was all he wanted.
His birthdays were never a big deal, considering they were an anniversary of what his mother had told him was the worst day of her life, but this was a big birthday, after all
She didn't say anything, though. Neither did he. Not even when he realized she was going the wrong way. Not when he realized that they'd been in the car far longer than the ride to school.
Not until he saw a 'Welcome To New York' sign
"Mama?"
"What?" She hissed
"..this isn't the way to school"
"You're not going to school today, Riot"
He would've been happy, if she hadn't said like he should've known. Like he was stupid.
"..why not?"
"Why do you ask so many questions? Because I fucking said so, consider it a birthday present"
He fell silent after that. He knew when to shut up, when to stop talking before he ended up with another beating instead of just some harsh words.
He fidgeted with a loose string on his jeans until he dozed off, sleeping until the car stopped in what looked like the middle of nowhere.
At least it did until Rio looked closer, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as he read a huge sign that read 'Camp Half-Blood'
"Mama..?"
"Get your backpack and get out."
"But– you said I wasn't gonna come here until I was 13? And you said I'd come here in the summer–"
"I said get out, Riot, go."
"But I'll get lost! I don't know where to go!"
She huffed and got out of the car, slamming the door behind her before opening his door and dragging him out by the wrist
She dragged him into the camp, past the border and over the hill
"I'm not supposed to be coming here yet– it's not even summer yet!"
"Some kids stay here year round, remember?"
"But those kids don't have homes! I have a home!"
She laughed. A cruel, sickening laugh that hurt his ears.
"I'd pick a damn comfy bed if I were you"
And with that she dragged him onto the porch of the big house and left him there. He just stood there in shock as she walked away like nothing had happened.
Like she hadn't just her kid alone and confused on his birthday with nothing but his school backpack.
He didn't even here Mr D's 'oh great, another one' because his eyes were fixed on his mother until she was out of sight, and Chiron was trying to coax his name out of him
"Riot" He said. He'd never liked his name, but his mother had insisted that he go by it. But she wasn't here now, was she? "No, Rio, actually"
Chiron smiled, putting a hand on his shoulder
"Welcome, Rio, to Camp Half-Blood"

TWST fic: they meet
Summary: (this one pretty much is what it says on the tin)
Word count: 1,165 words
Warnings: references to spiked drinks and ableism
Cleaned it up a tiny bit for posting. @inmateofthemind 's headcanon co-ed mage school (Corlux) is referenced here. Also featuring Kallisto's maiden name! I have so many feels about Chrysanthos's parents I need to just write the two of them together as much as possible, this is just the first one, and no, I am not apologizing, you can't make me.
—————
“Don't drink that.”
“Huh?”
The stranger didn't offer any further explanation until they'd made it out to the terrace, and even then she didn't say a word until she'd plucked the glass from Ilias’s hand and tossed the entire thing over the railing and into the hedges down below. Ilias stared down, openmouthed and flabbergasted for perhaps the first time in his adult life, as she spoke again.
“Sorry if I made a scene or put you on the spot back there,” she began.
“You just—” he stammered, his voice very, very small and full of shock and awe. “That was crystal— a Jupiter family g— and you— threw—”
“If they want to get their chitons in a twist over one little glass, let them,” she said, letting out a small huff and adjusting the large glasses on her face. “They don't scare me. Besides, I didn't see any of them trying to call out Adonias for harassing you, or his buddies for spiking your drink when he did. And my jaw would've hit the floor if any of them actually stepped in to stop you from drinking it.”
A chill raced up his spine, a chill that quickly morphed into an icy anger. So that was it. He should have suspected that there was more to the mocking and harassment than simply trying to make him lose face in front of literally everyone. Inhaling deeply, Ilias breathed out, trying to release some of the immediate tension and regain his usual cool composure. Well, Adonias had lost on both fronts today, and while they were small victories, they were still victories.
He turned to regard his strange savior, who was also turning to look him over.
“To whom do I owe my thanks?” he asked, the words tumbling out of his mouth fast before he could worry about seeming rude.
The woman jolted, her eyes going huge behind the glasses and her face turning a bit pink.
“I- I'm Kallisto. Kallisto Euphemia,” she answered, all the rock-solid confidence from a moment before now gone from her voice. “And, I'm guessing you are…” She trailed off, abruptly looking down at her shoes.
“Adonias thinks he's funny, using the same nickname he teased me with in middle school,” Ilias muttered. “I appreciate you not laughing.”
“A-anyone who thinks calling someone else ‘mentally ill-ias’ is funny,” she said, her voice just a touch steadier this time, “can sit on a cactus.” Clearing her throat, she asked, “Your name is Ilias?”
“Of the Shroud family,” he confirmed tiredly, resting his elbows on the balustrade. “The guests none of the ‘great’ families want at their parties. I'm sure you saw my brothers inside at some point.”
Kallisto walked a little closer, linking her hands in front of her in a demure way that appeared very practiced. “You think nobody wants you at their parties? Why?”
He let out a soft snort. “That's just a fact of life for us,” he said, without animosity or condescension. “The twelve great houses and all the lesser houses never are happy about needing to invite the Shroud family to anything, even the strictly necessary stuff. It's always been that way, and that's not counting if the Jupiter family gets a patriarch who finds it more convenient to just forget to invite us.”
Kallisto let out a grumpy hum of consideration.
“Anyway, thanks for the save. I owe you one. Sorry for spoiling the fun.”
“Y-you didn't spoil—”
Ilias turned and looked at her, smiling ruefully, and her mouth shut with a click. He nodded, having expected as much. “Yeah, I did, I know,” he said, sighing and standing up straight again as he looked at her. Neither notably short or tall, with hair the color of dishwater up in a messy bun, dark blue eyes and deeply tan skin. The glasses and her nondescript, unflattering clothes made it difficult to tell at first, but she seemed to have a round face that balanced out a full mouth and somewhat chubby figure. She stood very poised and rigid—maybe she was a Corlux alumnus?—and looked like she was trying very hard to embody plainness enough to blend in with whatever wallpaper she stood near.
Something about it felt forced or false, or both.
Ilias slid his hands into his pockets and turned to walk away. It was the safer bet.
Still, he couldn't act like a total asshole.
“Have fun at the party or whatever,” he said over his shoulder.
“Wait, you're leaving?!”
She sounded genuinely shocked.
“Yeah, this scene blows,” he answered. No point in not being honest. “Not worth my time. Besides, my brothers will find me later, so it's no big deal if the middle child goes AWOL for a while.”
He continued towards the stairs that led down from the terrace, ready to make a fast escape, but apparently Kallisto wasn't easily deterred.
“Wait a sec!”
He paused and looked back over his shoulder. What was up with her anyway? If she truly was anything like how she tried to appear, then this stupid party wasn't something she gelled with either.
“What?” he asked, withholding a sense of irritation.
“Do you—” she started, then stopped, incoherent noises coming out of her mouth and growing increasingly higher in pitch until, haltingly, she managed to speak. “Would you- like to, er- go? Get a be-v’rage? At a place??”
Ilias blinked rapidly, baffled. “Huh?”
Kallisto helplessly pointed at herself, him, the hedges where she'd tossed his glass, back to him, and then between him and herself, her face going redder and redder by the second.
“I-I-I uh, I um. I owe you? A drink?” she finally said.
He blinked again, slower this time.
He had…
No clue what to make of this woman.
Still, she was being a hell of a lot nicer to him than anyone from any of the other houses had ever been. Euphemia…the name tickled at the back of his mind but he couldn't place what family that was or where they ranked among the others.
He looked her over again, and maintained in his own mind that the image she was presenting was almost totally at odds with whatever she was trying to hide. And yet, he felt a small spark of intrigue. Besides, crafted mousy appearance and all, she was—he had to admit it—cute.
“Yeah, okay,” he answered at last. “Sure.”
A look of utterly stunned surprise came over her. “Uh?”
“Let's go,” he said. “Get a beverage at a place.”
He turned back and started down the stairs, hearing her follow a moment later.
“You're buying,” he added, feeling like she probably needed a reminder. Whatever confusion he'd dealt her probably had temporarily fried her brain.
“If I do,” she said carefully, “will you answer some questions for me?”
He shrugged. “Depends on the questions, I guess.” After a beat, he added, “Might also depend on the drink.”
“I'll- I'll be s-sure to er, indulge you, then.”

It Might Be Him
Tumblr media
There were more than four-thousand kids in this school, about a thousand for each grade.
A little less than half of those kids were surrounding us. Some kids, who were smart, watched from the stairs reeling, shouting like wild dogs for who they thought would win.
He yelled something that I couldn't catch on due to how loud the people were around us.
"Sorry!" I yelled back, "Doc said I shouldn't listen to bullshit!"
Everyone 'ooh'ed and laughed at the guy, whose name I knew was Eren, and the only reason he found out he was fighting was thanks to Gabby being the one who knew about him.
He got into a fighting position, which looked funny to me, and tried throwing a punch.
Luckily, I had a fast reflex and ducked under his fist, grabbing his arm and pulling it behind my head.
We are face to face now, and taking that to my advantage I kicked the front of his knee, making him fall, but before his face hit mine I moved out of the way, making him fall face first into the ground.
I grabbed his arms and put them behind his back, restraining him from punching or moving due to pressure I'm placing on his back.
"I would give up if I were you." I whispered in his ear.
"Like I would do such thing." He said harshly, struggling to get out of my grip. That was my cue to raise his right arm with the elbow facing me.
Crack!
Everyone was in sock, and the guy was screaming in pain after a few seconds.
His arm was bent, it would not fold frontwards but backwards.
"I warned you, you didn't listen." I told him as I walked away, people making way for me to walk through.
After that was over with, I made sure to head straight for the Grab-N-Go, where I knew Vance would be at.
I walked through the front doors, with the sound of a bell warning my entrance.
"So?" Asked the blondie, not looking away from his game.
"He won't touch anyone for a few weeks if not months." I told him.
He looked up at me this time, not caring about his score and him losing. He was in shock, but it wasn't very visible, only reason it was given away was due to his eyebrows rising up slightly then going back to their original place.
"What did you do?" He asked, rather curious.
"Arm's bend." I said simply, with a plain voice.
He chuckled, but his face showed no new emotion. "Who would've thought, since when do you know how to bend arms?"
"You're underestimating me, I know many things that would fall under the medical field. Some things don't fall under it, but fall under murder 'field.'"
"Surprise me." He ordered.
"If you inject digoxin into someone who doesn't have heart failure then they will die and it will look like they had blood pressure, and if it's injected under the tongue then the pinch mark is most likely to not be found." I reassure.
He was shocked at this, but knew it was true due to how I said it. I didn't stutter once, I didn't eat my words, and didn't trip over them.
It was a rather interesting topic to look into, I didn't use that knowledge on anyone or anything, but it could come in handy.
"Fair enough. I trust that you won't say a word about this?" He glared at me.
I chuckled lightly, "Of course."
It was a shocker he even talked to me, so I better keep my mouth shut to not get on his nerves like I did back in middle school.
His temper was a ticking bomb after all, the only exception was that you knew when a bomb would explode thanks to its timer, with Vance though, it was different, you never knew what he would do.
There was no capable way of reading him.
I turned to leave the store, before I saw it once again.
The black-fucking-ban.
"Oh my, do I have a secret admirer or something?" I whispered to myself.
There was no way I would go out through the front door where they could see me, so I went back to Vance, who was playing Pinball, and sat down next to the machine, waiting for the ban to notice my absence and leave.
I was lucky that the man didn't notice me walking away from the door, for he was probably searching for something on the passenger's seat.
"Asshole's following you again?" Asked the curly haired guy.
I sighed and nodded my head, yes.
I was not playing this man's little hide-&-seek game, I ain't patient enough to hide nor patient enough to seek.
My temper was running short with the top hatted man appearing everywhere I went.
I found it extremely weird how every time he appeared I was always near Vance. It was almost as if he wasn't just targeting me, but Vance too.
"Does he follow you anywhere?" I asked quietly, only for him to hear.
"Not really, it's always when you are around." He confessed. "Vance..." I started and he hummed.
"He only ever appears when you are around..."
He stopped playing, not caring when the machine made a small noise to announce how the game was finished.
His face was stiff, in a position where you could tell.
He was getting pissed, and a pissed Vance was not a pretty Vance.
"That son of a bitch..." He whispered, trying to remain cool.
"You don't think... He's going for both of us, right?" I started fidgeting with my nails. This whole thing was crazy.
Then I thought about the odds. What if he really was the one who kidnapped the other kids?
It wasn't impossible, he seemed cliche already.
"I'm not sure." He confessed, and for the first time, he actually looked down to the floor.
He too was thinking the same thing, I knew it by his face.
This top-hat man might be The Grabber, and was awaiting his next victims.
He was waiting for the next kids he will take from their home.
Those kids might be one of us, and we didn't know who. This man had no reason to do what he did, he merely did it for the sake of his own pleasure and entertainment. We didn't know a thing about him, and he didn't know a thing about us.
And for the first time in a while, I actually got scared. I got scared for myself.
For Vance.
I knew we both could handle ourselves, but this is a new thing, we are talking about someone who has kidnapped other kids who haven't even been found yet.
"I'm not sure..."

people have a right to be upset at them and almost every atiny I have seen on twt is not dropping them, simply wanting to let them know how problematic that song is (even though they really should know given how racist the lyrics are) so don’t know why you’re acting like people can’t be upset & disappointed, especially since the vast majority is not dropping them at all
where the fuck did i make it seem like people can't be upset and disappointed ??? get off anon and face me coward ass bitch, let's get things straight face to face
i saw desitinys being affected and ofc i want them to bave justice. but the rest of twtiny are acting on their hero complex and started this mob mentality, demanding shit not only from kq and ateez but also from other atinys. now i get that boundaries are blurred through technology, but i personally don't like how entitled they all sound. the most upset people in the app were not even desi and that should say something. you do know that those people said that those who are going to the fansign in taiwan should give their time to address the issues directly to the boys but when a statement or apology comes, they shouldn't comment on it. now i understand the not accepting the apology if you're not desi part but to actually want to intentionally cause distress to the boys esp san in the middle of tour ??? wow. i'll explain my logic if anyone don't understand why i said causing distress in the middle of tour.
and pertaining to the song, i didn't know it was culturally insensitive by looking at the lyrics and i read, speak, and understand korean. It took me EXTENSIVE research to understand what was wrong and i made that realization in the middle of another kpop idol's controversy over the same song. so even to the broad public, this is not common knowledge bc i don't see people who fawn over norazo's music much and i don't go around everyday searching "racist thing people do today", i literally got better things to do. not to mention, this is not a big news in korea so ofc not everyone remembers or knows or understand what's going on. what they know is that due to modernization and advancement of technology, they are being demanded in the worst possible way to accept, understand, acknowledge, and automatically know about every single culture in this world but is not being given the help or understanding or even time to adjust. and what do you expect from a homogenous society ??? do you think in a fast-paced, no fucks given country everyone is atuned to every single cultural issue in this world ??? are YOU aware that malaysians claimed that some indonesian heritage belong to them and even got singapore to say the same in middle school textbooks ? Even I had just found this out not 2 months ago because i was engaging in the context of the issue. my point is that even you are unaware of cultural issues despite it hurting me because it's not your job to instantly know, it's my job to let you know i'm hurt and explain why. difference is, you're a coward son of a bitch hiding behind anon so i can't even start to create awareness of what hurr me. i'm not excusing anyone's behaviour bc ofc if people are hurt, the party who caused said hurt should definitely apologize and take action. but circumstances need to be seen too.
san is now being called racist or doing racist behaviour, people are demanding ateez to halt any and all activities to apologize, they're demanding other atinys to shut up but follow along. like i have a problem with the way the issue is addressed but not with the fact that the issue itself exisr. i have NEVER said no one should be upset, literally where even the fuck ???? but as you are expecting them to be more open and understanding, you too must be open and understanding that things slipped their minds, there are not much available resources in korea and people who seem so very keen on "educating" does not seem to want to educate in korean which would've been better since it bridges communication and can maybe achieve something. it's hard work trying to make people more aware but it's even harder when it's done in anger and entitlement.
Even after kq released an apology and acknowledgement of the situation, tw"tinys" still demand apology and it's up to 3 members now. who the fuck is even the other one, i don't fuckimg know but you see how this now seem like a fucking witch hunt ? It's not even about the awareness anymore.
I can go on about why this shit happens, i still have A LOT of points i can make. let me know and i'll educate you both in reading comprehension and about the issue.

BLOODSTAINED ART
So I got this Idea for a book and I will be posting it here, I hope you like it!
-Being a serial killer is easy when you know how to hide a body. Though, it does take time when you have a little horror artist following you around-
"THE TWISTED ENCOUNTER"
'Pearlskeep'
Surrounded by wilderness and plain, the big town is filled with interesting places and people. It could be mistaken for a small city, since the structures are more modern, nothing like a town of agriculture and such. Buildings of different shapes and sizes, all of them either occupied by families or used as restaurants, cafes, parks, a high school, a mall.. the usual things, of course.
It seems like a normal, peaceful town. Which it is. The locals are quite friendly in this town, even a stranger would help you when and if you're in need. One year, the town was nominated as the friendliest town in the state, which the mayor speaks proudly of every change he gets.
Though, a few years ago, the town was suddenly cursed by it's own 'monster'.
'The Pearlskeep Mad Dog' is the person that has been giving the town a hard time, the police especially. The person was given that name since they're known for his mad behavior on his victims.  The Mad dog mutilates peoples bodies, mangles them, places them in weird places and positions, sometimes missing a limb, or maybe the whole body and just a finger of the victim. There would be so much blood on the scene of the crime, you'd think it would've been a pig slaughter if it weren't for the human parts found lying around.
Ever since the towns killer appeared, the graveyard has been getting a whole lot of new people bury. It caused for it to expand, new people to bury every week, some young, some middle ages, and some were just with normal deaths. But it is for certain that 'The Mad Dog' has been responsible for peoples deaths and disappearances, for the weekly blood baths of gore.
The notorious serial killer had become a scary story, to haunt children to not go out at night, to listen to their parents and stay indoors. It leaves even adult's legs to shake, from the monster that prowls the streets, leaving mutilated bodies, blood and gore in his wake as he walked the streets at night. A supposed lunatic was terrorizing the town, and who wouldn't be afraid of that?
Some had done drastic measures, making rules of their way of living and having a certain time when they lock their doors and windows, most remained normal and walked alone at night with a bit of confidence, and the other's rarely leave their homes, ordering food and doing work online.
"You remember what I told you?"
The woman looked at her daughter with a stern yet worried look, handing her some money. The daughter sighed and looked up at he mother as she tied her shoes, a bit of her loose hair getting in the way of her face.
"Don't talk to strangers if you can, go to the store, buy the milk and come back as soon as possible."
The girl spoke, standing up as she locked eyes with her mom, then added in a more quiet tone, shifting her weight from one foot to another.
"I know."
Placing the money in her jacket's pocket, she opened the door with no hesitation, walking out without another word, not even looking back at her worried looking mother, who shut the door after the girl left eyes sight.
Every step she took, it was like her life was on the line. Since it was past the curfew her mom has made, she never really saw the streets in the nights atmosphere, well, ever since the deranged killer was on the loose. It felt like it was just yesterday, the day everything went crashing down because of the murders that were going up ever since that week, the number of grewsome deaths. Her mother didn't take it lightly, not at all. The girl remembers how her mother lied in her bed after she locked all the doors and windows, holding her close as she slept.
It took her a while to get used to the curfew her mother had made, but it was all for her life's sake, so she was safe and sound.
The evening struck, and it was late, but not too late as well. The stores, restaurants and bakeries still had to work their usual work hours, from 10 pm to even 1 am. The streets weren't as quiet as well, muffled music from the nearby club and bar could be heard in the distance, a few dogs barking  and the sounds of cars being driven were clear as day.
As normal as it seemed, the young girl entered the nearest store and searched through the isles, looking for the milk her mother told her to buy. The store was nearly empty, with only her, the cashier, and a mysterious tall man that was standing nearby, putting random products in his cart. Soon, as she spotted the isle full of milk cartons, she took one and quickly went to the cashier to check out. The cashier looked at the girls as he swiped the carton across the scanner, a look of tiredness in his eyes. The man didn't speak until he looked at the computer monitor and said the price.
"That would be 3.99 miss."
The girl placed the 5 dollar bill on the counter with a slight slam, taking the milk carton from the mans hand and walking out the store as she yelled to the man.
"Keep the change!"
She walked out with a quickened pace, leaving the cashier stunned for a moment, then he shrugged, going back to just standing there. Clearly rushing to go home, the girl continued to walk the same quickened pace. She could run, but that meant tripping and falling on accident.
Now, she wasn't quite aware of her surroundings, and she now was walking the wrong path. She didn't quite know where she had gone, her face consorting into a look of both panic and confusion. 'Where am I even going?' She asked herself, her mind now racing as she found herself in a dark alley. It was almost pitch darkness if it weren't for the light that was attached to the apartment building, shining the way to make her see better. Though, it wasn't really much to see, only brick walls and concrete ground, a small dumpster in the corner, which had a few rats running around.
The girl didn't even get to try to turn around before a pair of built arms wrapped around her tightly, one being placed on her mouth as the other tried to hold her in place, the milk carton falling on the ground the second later. She struggled greatly, her body shivering, her legs trying to kick the person that got a hold of her.
"Now, now, don't be scared."
The man whispered into the girls ear quietly, a sinister, playful and malicious hint in his voice, surprisingly calm in this situation. This only made a shiver go down the girls spine as she heard him speak, a few tears running down her cheeks as she continued to struggle to get out of the man's grasp, but that just made his grip go tighter on her, now squeezing her. Her lungs almost lost the air in them.
"This will only hurt for a moment-"
The man pushed the poor girl onto the ground, making her back up, pushing herself backwards as tears continued to stream down from her eyes, even more panic settling in as she locked eyes with her attacker, her body shacking in fear and panic.
It was the same man from the store, the one that she couldn't take a good glance of.
His piercing hazel eyes locked with hers, his pupils shrunk and held a hint of pure madness, a wide crooked smile on his face as he stepped closer to the girl, his black boots scraping on the concrete floor slightly as he moved closer. The man's unkempt long brown hair was hanging loose, framing his face. His presence was chilling, and he seemed to enjoy the fear that he was causing.
The man took out a blade from his pocket, staring at it for a moment, then looked back at the terrified girl.
"..But it will hurt a lot!"
He let out a sinister chuckle, pulling the girl by her shirt, making her body get closer to him. The grin on his face seemed to grow even wider, if that's even possible, and he stabbed the girls in the stomach, causing her to let out a cry of pain. This only made him sink the blade deeper into her stomach, twisting it, slowly making a cut down, making a big hole. Blood was dripping on the concrete ground, a lot of it, getting on both his clothes and the poor girl, that fell victim to his madness.
He proceeded to stab her a few more times in the chest, holding her limp body as he did so, cutting her open. He couldn't help but laugh from what he was doing, the pleasure of the pain he was causing was immense. The pain and suffering he inflicted to his victims was like some game for him, like it was normal to do. And he loved it, the thrill of it all.
The man stopped cutting the body after a few moments, letting go of the girls mutilated corpse and let it fall to the ground with a thud. The blood was everywhere, soaking his clothes and ground, even the walls of the alley. Blood dripped from his soaked knife, the droplets falling on the corpse's face. His breath was hitched, the wide grin still on his face as he breathed heavily, his mouth slightly open.
'The Mad Dog' did his magic, another victim now on his kill count.
The killer took a moment to calm down, still panting. His shrunk pupils slowly became normal, his crazed smile consorting into a rather normal one. But now, his clothes were drenched in blood, so he had to be more sneaky until he got to his so called 'home'.
The light that was on the wall started to loose power, flickering for a moment, and then turned off completely, making the man scoff in annoyance. He turned around and walked towards the light, going out in the street before he decided to quickly run off, not looking back. But, he didn't have much energy left so it only took him a few feet to get out of breath, leaning on the wall of the apartment building for support as he tried to catch his breath again.
As he did so, he could've sworn he heard footsteps coming from behind him, and entering the alley he just got out of. Something about that made him tense up. Somebody might've heard the girly cry and decided to investigate. They'll probably call the police if they see the body, though it wouldn't be that possible if it was pitch black there. Which it was, unless the person had a flashlight with them.
He was now thinking of what he was supposed to do. Should he go back and confront the person and possibly kill them, or let them be?
The mad killer sighed and turned around, going back into the alley, where he saw a flash from a phone. Someone taking pictures of the crime he committed moments before. They were taking pictures of every angle they could, looking at the mutilated corpse, but never looked up. From the flashes, the features weren't so well to see, but the person looked fairly young. A boy, maybe?
He looked like a typical student, a nerd even, with those glasses on. A bag was on their back, a intrigued look on his face, his grey eyes glimmering in wonder, like the boy just saw something more interesting than terrifying. It was interesting for the killer to see, especially when someone is looking at the gory scene like it's a work of art.
"What ya doing there, kid?"
The man finally spoke up in his normal sinister tone, his piercing gaze never leaving the young man. The boy flinched, almost falling on top of the corpse as he looked in the direction of the voice, his head perking up. He soon stepped away from the body and flashed the light of his phone towards the killer, who tilted his head in amusement. He let out a sinister chuckle and leaned on the wall again, remaining calm as he waited for the boy to react.
The young man's eyes widened slightly as he looked up and down at the man, observing his features, taking his attention on his blood soaked clothes. In stead of taking a step back, he walked closer to the man, just staring at him in silence. His grey eyes met the crazed ones, the ones that had a tinge of madness, then spoke, his voice slightly shaky and quiet.
"I was.. taking pictures of your.. crime."
The young man spoke truthfully, his hand running through his short black hair. He was fairly nervous, since he was speaking with a serial killer, his body tense and remained in place, his mind now racing by the fact that he was caught.
"I was gonna draw it later.. I find the blood and gore fascinating.. beautiful if you will-"
He continued and tried to explain, which only got him interrupted by a burst of laughter from the killer. He was now holding his stomach and laughing like a maniac, even crying a bit from it all. The boy just stared at him as the man continued to laugh, a slightly blank expression on his face. The Mad Dog stopped laughing and looked at the kid, his eyes widening in realization.
"Wait, you're not joking?"
It took the boy a moment, then nodded, his gaze slightly fearful of what might happen to him now.
He then felt something cold and metalic under his chin, making him look down. The man placed his knife under the boys chin, grinning widely at him. His piercing eyes looked down for a moment, the looked up, his pupils shrinking as he stared down at the boy.
The killers head leaned closer to the boys, his warms breath now hitting his face. The Mad Dog's grin dropped, his expression turning serious, his other hand being placed on the boys shoulder. It took him a  moment to collect his thoughts, thinking of what to say to the young man. Then he spoke, his voice was stern and serious, even a little harsh.
"Get the fuck out of here, and keep that little mouth zipped."
He paused for a moment before he added.
"If I find out you spilled something, I won't hesitate to turn you into a human kebab."

I wanna write just to write. I have a lot of hatred in me, and anger, and resentment, but I tire of writing about it. It's all the same, nothing new to say.
I want to see more of my young self, beyond pictures. The pictures being back the bad, the memories of family gatherings and unwanted walks, and school, and just, things I don't want reminders of. But words, I would like that. I would read through my old words 'cause when I write there's no one there looking at me waiting for a smile to click on a button and take a picture. There's only me, and even if in my words I don't sound like me, I would speak to an audience I was imagining, not for someone there, next to me, where I would know what they wanted from me. So I would still learn about me at that time, and maybe about what I wanted an audience to want? Or what I thought they, a concept of a group, would want.
I wish I'd kept a diary. I had one but my mom bought it for me and since it was from her I thought she expected me/gave it to me with the classic expectation of what a diary should be filled with: ie, laments and awes about boys. Crushes, confessions, secrets I would never discuss but that she would know about now after reading my diary. I don't think she ever was the type to read her children's diaries, but I wasn't as sure back then. So I wrote about my crushes, begrudgingly (and surprisingly? You'd expect that I wouldn't, given that i saw the gift as an invitation to do something I didn't really want to do). Every page a major event. First 2 pages about the boy I loved for an entire year, whom I helped to cheat in class (which consequently meant he sat at my table, the table of the best students), and who granted me one blip of a second of his lips on mine at the end of the year. I don't even remember feeling it. It's like it hasnt happened. I wouldn't remember if I hadn't made it a huge deal in my head. And hey, it was! I'm not judging, it totally was a big deal. I can remember writing about it, or how it felt to. Anyway. I started my diary with that, the biggest romantic thing that had happened to me. Like starting a tv show with the wedding episode. Then, there was a double page with one sentence repeated on every line about how I hated this girl because my boy crush liked her! She was a bitch. (10 years old, but she was learning toxic feminity and being a sexy baby too young, it was not her fault).
The point is, I only wrote there when I had updates on my crushes. Hilarious. First page was from the end of elementary school, and second page from middle school. Every page a new guy like they were a chapter themselves, with nothing to say about it except "I like him so much..." And I liked middle school guy for 4 years so the content was scarce. There was nothing about my feelings of alienation, my being mocked, lonely, my struggle with my brother shouting at me to shut up whenever I sang, nothing about me, the internal wordless knowing that that I...wasn't known, wasn't someone's best friend, and didn't know if I would be?
I just wanna say, I didn't do diaries for me, and I ended up trashing that first one. Maybe I was right and there's no regret to have not having it now. I would've read my eye rolls through it. maybe I just couldn't have written about me like now. I didn't have the words, the exposure to people doing it, talking about feeling different. We didn't. It was my secret. I knew I was different but I pretended as much as I could stand that I could blend in.

as a manager for a powerhouse team, there's never a dull moment in your day. especially around bokuto koutarō.
for as long as you can remember the two do you have been friends, along with akaashi and the occasional kuroo and kenma from nekoma. approaching your third year of high school you started to acknowledge that you harbor feelings for the ace, but due to fear and not wanting to distract bokuto from pursuing his professional volleyball career, you never brought it up. akaashi being the perceptive person that he is, recognized that you had feelings for bokuto. he actually encouraged you to confess, but each time he did, you shut down the idea.
you're lucky that post-grad both of your and bokuto's careers lined up with each other. when bokuto suggested that you take the position you happily accepted it, not thinking twice, especially since you could be around him again. but your heart ached when you realize it would only be a matter of time before he’d discover his soulmate.
in the world that you all live in, everyone has a soulmate assigned. people are assigned specific conditions placed on them when they are born. when both soulmates mutually realize who their soulmate is, these conditions will cease to exist.
being in your 20s, you still have no luck in figuring out who it was. but today changed everything.
currently, the jackals are in the middle of a game. a timeout had been called and you were passing around water bottles to the members.
"hi kou," you smile, watching the ace approach you.
he ruffles your hair before accepting the bottle from your hands, your fingers brushing. he talks about the recent play, asking you if you saw him and his clean spike. Admittedly, you hadn't seen the entire thing, but lying and telling him that you did wouldn't hurt. You know how excited he can get from praise.
but there's a funny feeling in your throat when you try to speak to the frosted-tipped-haired man and you grasp at it with a frown. thinking it's just a dry throat you clear it before attempting again, but the same forced feeling returns.
"what's wrong?" bokuto looks at you with concern before his large hands smooth over your face.
'i can't lie'. you think, your heart racing fast. so that's the condition set. you blink before the second realization hits you.
bokuto is your soulmate.
how do you tell him that nothing is wrong? and that everything is okay when it's not? there's no way you're going to confess here in the middle of a game. it would throw off his game. you need to think quickly to not look so suspicious.
"don't worry about it kou," you smile, "it isn't something to be concerned about right now, just focus on the game."
"i can't do that if you're in trouble!" he whines, leaning into you. some of the other players start to look over to where the two of you are because of how loud he is.
"hey, I'm serious. don't worry," you assure in a more hushed tone.
"hm? what was that?" bokuto leans down towards you to hear you better. what he doesn't know is that his now close proximity sent you into a panic. before you can have a meltdown though, the whistle blows and the timeout is over.
atsumu notices your discomfort throughout the match and eventually comes over to you, posing as if he needs a towel.
"so what's up with ya? why are ya acting so weird lately?" atsumu asks, brown eyes analyzing you carefully.
"i think, i think bokuto is my soulmate," you tell him.
"bokuto is your soulmate?!" hinata blurts out loud. you quickly cover his mouth, scolding him for being so loud.
"keep it down, what's wrong with you? do you know how he'd react if he hears?" you hiss.
"pretty sure he'd be ecstatic." atsumu chuckles, "he can't ever seem to stop talking about ya."
"t-that's not true!" you argue. there's no way that bokuto talked about you a lot. atsumu is just messing with you.
"he’s right. it's pretty obvious." sakusa chimes in. the presence of the curly-haired man startles you.
“omi-omi agrees i can’t be wrong, see?” atsumu says, "bokuto hates when any of us talks to you for too long. just watch. if i flirt with ya in his presence it'll set him off."
"don't do it in the middle of the game?" you laugh nervously. while bokuto wasn't the same as he was in high school, he still has his moments. you weren't about to jeopardize a game based on that theory though.
"you'll be able to fix him though, won't ya? our sweet manager.." atsumu boops you on the nose before pinching your cheeks. you grumble at him, pushing his hands away slightly and the blonde only laughs at you.
sure enough out of the corner of your eye you see bokuto looking over in your general direction. a small pout appears on his face before he looks away.
the game progresses and atsumu must be a mastermind because he finds many ways to flirt with you, even making a move to point to you at one moment when making a service ace. it oddly enough seems to be working for the jackal's favor as bokuto grows more and more frustrated by the minute, his spikes and moves becoming move aggressive. you never feared for the life of a volleyball, but now you do.
the game finally ends thankfully. you watch as bokuto glumly walks over to the sidelines. he doesn't say anything but you can feel his intense gaze on your figure.
when you hand atsumu a towel he doesn't hesitate to make a show. "ya saw that, right? wasn't i great?" he boasts as he appears next to you. before you can respond he snaps his fingers over to your left, "oi, three o'clock."
you notice bokuto's hands twitching at his sides and how he seems restless. he seems to be giving atsumu the nastiest look you've ever seen and it makes you nervous.
"bo? what's wrong? what happened?"
at the sound of hearing 'bo' and not 'kou' bokuto finally snaps. lips quivering and brows knitted tightly in a frown.
"i don't like atsumu talking to you, it pisses me off!" he blurts before his face flushes red at the confession. he covers his mouth with his hand before looking around. "i-i don't know why i just said that."
"bingo." sakusa says, sighing.
"and my work here is done." atsumu says smugly before walking off.
"what?" you look at bokuto with confusion. "what do you mean?"
bokuto can feel his heart racing. all the words he wants to tell you are sitting on the tip of his tongue and for some reason, a weird itchy feeling resides in his throat as he tries to repress them. he wants to lie and say that it's nothing, that he's just overreacting, but he can't, and he doesn't understand why.
"do you like atsumu? do you think he's better than me?" he asks, panic in his eyes as he searches your face. he doesn't want you to choose him. he wants you all to himself.
"no, no of course not," you breathe, the answer rolling right off your tongue as you go to prod, "why do you ask?"
bokuto is oddly quiet. "m' throat feels all itchy right now and i don't know why." he huffs, pulling at the collar of his jersey.
‘he’s panicking, plan b’, you think.
"bokuto, this is going to sound strange, but i need you to lie to me." you say, "it'll all make sense in a few minutes, i promise."
"why? i don't ever feel the need to do that. especially with you." he says, golden eyes sincere.
"it doesn't need to be anything serious, i promise. i just...i just want to test something. so I'll ask you a question and you lie, okay?" you explain.
he blinks. "okay."
"that one time in high school when i ordered onigiri and konoha told me my order was messed up, was it messed up, or did you eat the rest of my food?"
you watch bokuto pale before he speaks--or tries to. when he realizes he can't lie, he panics.
"I'm sorry, okay? i didn't mean to!" he cries, "please don't be mad at me!"
"it's okay, i figured you did. plus akaashi told me the truth." you laugh, placing a hand on his cheek. "but you know what this means, right?"
"that i have to pay you back in onigiri? I'll get you all the food that you want, okay?" he says, grasping your hands.
"no, it means that we're soulmates. neither one of us could lie to the other earlier when talking about how we were feeling," you explain slowly, "and atsumu only flirted with me to make you jealous."
bokuto takes a minute to process what you said before sighing, “so, you’re not mad?”
“no, kou, i’m not mad, that was years ago.” you laugh, patting his cheek. he seems to lean into your touch, his hands grasping you tightly as he now hugs you.
“well i’m glad it’s you. soulmate or not, i’ve always hoped and wanted it to be you i end up with.” he admits.
you smile, “i am too.”
grinning widely bokuto picks you up, "well of course we’re soulmates! look at us, we're the cutest!" he beams, hands pinching your cheeks. his thick arms wrap around you and he doesn't let go. not in a million years would he let anyone else have you.
"i have to call akaashi and thank him, he was right!" he adds, "after four years of liking you, it all paid off!"
"what about me, huh?" atsumu huffs, "I'm the mastermind behind this whole thing that just happened!"
"'f-four'?" you swallow, "that means...you've liked me since high school?"
bokuto pretends not to hear the setter and grabs your hand. "yeah, ever since you became our manager," he blushes, "akaashi kept telling me i needed to confess to you, but i didn’t know how."
the yapping of the blonde setter behind you is drowned out as you speak, "i guess i should've realized sooner, since i also have feelings for you." you lean into him.
"that's okay. like i said, i can buy you all the onigiri in the world to make up for it!" he says, tugging on your hand. “we have a lot of catching up to do, so let’s go!”
it’s odd how an inconvenient circumstance makes everything work out, but in the end you couldn’t be any happier.

I remember by father demanding that I take medicine in front of him in middle school that he had brought at the request of the nurses. I told him that I would be taking it in the nurse's office in case I puked and he grabbed my arm and told me to take it there. I said no. He proceeded to, in front of a room full of women he knew could not stop him in any effective way, loom over me and bark that I take it there.
I looked up at him with a very similar scowl to his own, "I said no."
He nodded and acted like something bad was going to happen later (nothing happened), but that wasn't the only time I had ever told him no. But men like him will tell you they would never do anything to use their power as men against women, and then loom over their own children and yell in their faces about nothing. I got grounded a lot when I went to his house for small things, yet he would boast to people that I never got in trouble and was a good kid. Proof to me that he just wanted to force that defiance out of me. I wasn't even an inherently defiant child. I never got into behavioral trouble at school, like ever. I was only ever defiant towards him and found that staring him down and refusing to apologize often left him enraged.
He's threatened to hit me, he's threatened (when I was a minor) to pull me out of school and take me away from my friends, he's refused to pick me up (when I was a minor), and has cursed at me several times about how I would get an ass whooping and "hard head, soft ass" all that stuff. But you know what's funny? He never did any of these things lmao. Firstly, because my mom would've killed him. But on top of that, all the times that he did follow through and ground me, take something from me, refuse to take me somewhere, I was willing to take the punishment to show him that he was incapable of breaking me through his temper tantrums. My family was constantly on his side and he would try to use that against me. I told him I didn't care and that I knew he wasn't a good person despite how he presented himself. I didn't need my family to see that when I saw it for myself.
He's apologized for these things now but it doesn't matter to me. That was a child you were treating that way, so I wonder what would happen now that I'm an adult.
You're not always going to be able to do stuff like that. I had a weird childhood lol so please don't take this as me telling you to risk your housing by doing what I did. I had my mom to fall back on and some people don't. Situations vary massively. But what I am saying is that when you're being punished for your defiance and you know the true reason, brave it. Bear through it and don't waver. You don't deserve it, and they know you don't, but they want you to break and submit. My father literally said he wanted me to just obey and shut up. You come out of these things more resolved and confident in your own thoughts and opinions.

LEVI ackerman knew he wasn't a good person. he knew from the moment he watched his uncle slaughter a man in front of him at the age of eight.
levi knew the moment he killed a man for theft. he knew the moment people would cower before him in highschool when he'd walk through the halls. he knew the moment he was sucking the smoke from a cigarette into his mouth.
he knew the moment he found himself fighting police officers. he knew the moment he was pushed against the hood of a car with his hands cuffed behind his back.
he knew the moment when erwin smith sat down in front of him with no emotion written on his face. the moment when erwin said he knew levi had done it, but he would be defending him either way. the moment when levi disobeyed the oath as he spat out his testimony. the moment the gavel was slammed down along with the verdict of 'not guilty'. the moment he stepped into the sunshine, erwin's hand in his, for the first time in months, knowing damn well he didn't deserve it.
but levi didn't care, he never did. the world he was born into was cruel. he had to fight for his place at the top, for his food, for his clothes, for everything. if no one cared about him, then why should he care for others.
but as he stares down at you trembling from fear on the floor, he can't help but think that he's incorrect.
"please don't hurt me again," you plead in a whisper, tilting your head to the floor.
levi only sighs, walking in and shutting the door behind him. he crouches in front of you, hand now awkwardly stroking your head.
"what happened," he asks, and it's something that comes as a shock to you. you were slightly prepared for a beating.
you snap your head up to look at him in shock.
"what have you got in your hands," he points at the scrapbook held to your chest.
"oh!" you fumble to show him, "i saw this earlier... i wanted to look but i didn't think you'd allowed me. i'm sorry, please don't hurt me."
"i would've let you, i barely look at this thing anymore. can you tell me what happened now," he scoffs at the front cover of the scrapbook.
"when i was going to put it back, a book on the shelf fell. then another book on the top shelf fell off, so i used the lower shelves as a ladder. as you can see, it didn't work," you look ashamed while you gesturing towards the shelf.
he just huffs, "go sit on the couch. we can look through that book after i clean."
you obey and watch levi heft the bookshelf back onto its legs. his fists clench as he looks down at the pile of books surrounding his feet.
hastily, levi's picking up the books by the color and placing them back onto the shelf. when he's finished, he takes a step back to look at it. he's unsatisfied, instead more frustrated as he starts to take all of the books off of the second bookshelf he has.
but in the middle of taking the books off the shelf, he twitches and taps the book against the wood five times. he's putting the books back onto the shelf, going back to the other bookshelf and taking all the books off of that.
you stare in absolute bewilderment. the shelves had looked perfect and identical to you, not to mention clean. as he's in the midst of taking the books off the shelf, he taps the book against the wood again.
and with that, he's placing it all back onto the shelf again. he sighs in relief after he's checked everything, finally trotting to you and plopping down next to you on the loveseat.
nervously, you scoot closer to him in order for you both to be able to see the scrapbook. he watches you flip it open past his baby picture, instead turning to the page that showed his mother feeding him.
"that's my mom, kuchel," he gently rubs his finger on the photograph, "think i was around a year at this point."
humming, you flip to the next page. when you realize it's the picture of levi at his mother's funeral, you try to flip the page but levi stops you.
a sigh, he explains, "my mother always had a very weak immune system, according to my uncle. because of where we lived, we both ended up getting deathly ill and we were too weak to get any help. i had to watch her die and wait for someone to come check up on us."
"i'm assuming it was your uncle," you tilt your head.
"it was. he took me in afterwards, gave me food and a shower. he even taught me how to hold a knife and how to fight for future reference. he had some work to do while i would fight for food."
you point to the one of levi standing in front of a building. to which he replies with, "first day of kindergarten. my mother was still alive back then so she decided to take the picture."
he turns the page for you, a relieved look in his eyes at he stares at the next photograph. it's a picture of levi, in high school, wearing a tux while standing next to another man with a bubbly girl holding onto levi as she holds up a peace sign.
the boy, who's also wearing a tux, has ice blue eyes and wavy dirty blonde hair that obviously hasn't been styled. he's got a gentle smile on his face while he looks at both the girl and levi, someone who levi was obviously fond of.
the girl has dark red hair in low and loose ponytails with freckles painting her tan cheeks. her eyes shine an emerald green along with her pearly white teeth.
"that's... isabel and farlan. met them in 8th grade, and we were at junior prom in this. farlan took me as his date while isabel went stag. i'm glad i still have this picture."
you resist the urge to fight back the joke of his type in men, instead asking, "are you not friends anymore?"
levi stays quiet for a moment, "they died in a horrible car crash a month later. some asshole decided to drink and drive while driving a semi. rear ended them at 45 miles per hour and killed them on impact. isabel was slouching in her seat and farlan was hunched over the wheel apparently. it was gruesome."
"i.... i'm so sorry," you reluctantly touch his arm.
he waves his free hand up and down in dismissal, despite hurt he actually was, "it's fine. happened years ago."
he turns the next page in order to distract himself from the sheer awkwardness that bathes the room. the next picture is of him, around the age of 24, standing in the sunlight while he smiles softly to the sky.
"erwin was my attorney, before he became a prosecutor, when i went to jail. he proved me not guilty and this was the picture he managed to take of me right after we left the courthouse. it was the first time i'd seen the sun without handcuffs on in months," he huffs with slight annoyance at the memory, something that surprises you just a bit.
"why'd you get arrested?"
"nothing you need to worry about," telling you would only make you fear him more. and that would be a pain to deal with.
the next page after is blank, along with the rest that follow.
"i stopped because i thought it was stupid," he crosses his arms, nudging the back of the scrapbook with his knee.
"i don't think it's stupid," you shake your head, fingertips gently tracing the grainy and textured paper.
"why's that?"
"well," you smile a bit while your mind wonders to the scrapbook pieck made you one year for your birthday, "it shows you the good memories that you might've missed as the time passed. reminds you that there's something in every little small day. it helps you keep the memory alive, even if some of it is upsetting, and i think it shows how much you've changed as a person."
levi stares at you, slightly flustered at your words as you relook at the photographs with gentle hands.
he stands up, "i just remembered the tea." ah, a sound excuse. if only levi had made tea.
you watch as he seems to rush out of the room, something you shrug off while gently putting the scrapbook on levi's desk and laying back down on the couch. you play another movie on the television that hangs on the wall, perking up when levi walks back into the room with a tray. it holds finger sandwiches and some lettuce mixed with some fruit in a small bowl along with tea. cracked sunflower seeds sit on a small plate on the side, and you feel yourself droll when you realize at there's cheese, lettuce, and ham on your sandwich.
levi places it on your lap, simply nodding at your kind, "thank you, levi."
he doesn't answer and just goes back to his desk, while you chew quietly.
it stays that way until erwin comes home.
————
it isn't until your eyes are fluttering open that you realize you've fallen asleep. you flinch at the sight of erwin's face close to your's, but slowly relax when he pulls away.
"i'm sorry, i didn't think my kiss would wake you," he places a loving hand on your head.
"'s fine, probably needed to get up anyway," you reply groggily while rubbing an eye, "how long have i been asleep for?"
"levi said since a little bit after lunch. it's only three o'clock at the moment," he sits on the edge of the couch, smiling at how you shuffle to accommodate him.
"sandwiches must've been tasty.... did you just get off work," you sigh and snuggle up under the thin blanket that's been laid on top of you while you were sleeping.
erwin lays his large hand on your cheek, which has you tense for just a moment and then relaxing.
"i got off a little while ago but i needed to run errands," a thumb strokes at the apple of your cheek, something that you disgustingly find comfort in.
"where did levi go?"
"went to make himself some tea," he chuckles with a shake of his head, "he claimed that he felt withdrawals."
you shake your head while laughing, "i doubt he said that. how was work?"
"i guess i can say it was adequate. i missed you and levi the whole day, but would often get distracted by my clients and their necessities. i'm dealing with a kidnapping case at the moment. a girl around your age named ymir was recently found by her girlfriend, historia. i can't say anything more," he pulls his hand away from you and uses it to pinch the bridge of his nose.
you feel yourself get the chills.
he's.... working on a kidnapping case.
he's prosecuting.... a kidnapper.
he's punishing someone who's doing the same thing as him. someone who took away a girl and kept her trapped for months. god knows what the man did to the girl.
and here you are, letting erwin hold your cheek and looking through an old photo album with levi.
you feel sick to your stomach, shooting up while slapping a hand to your mouth and grabbing at her's shirt.
"i'm gonna throw up," you barely are able to speak without the feeling of your food coming out of your stomach.
startled, erwin stares, "what?"
"can... need a can," you gag and lean over the edge of the couch.
erwin gets up when he realizes just what it is you're asking for, rushing across the room only for you to spill your guts out onto the floor.
it's been forever since you've thrown up, minus when levi kicked your stomach, and it has your whole body shaking. the intensity of it all has your nose dripping with blood and tears falling from your eyes, forcing you to seal your eyes closed.
"what happened here," levi sounds scared as he stands in the doorway, but before erwin can even finish his sentence levi is slamming the door behind him while he storms out.
erwin sighs with frustration, helping you scoot down the couch so he can place the trash can in front of you without the bottom being dirtied. with shaky hands, erwin's pulling all of your hair out of your face while you sob and gag into the trash.
it's ten more minutes before you're able to lay back down. blood and tears stain your face and you dazedly stare up at the ceiling.
"i'll be back with a towel and some water, levi will be back soon with an avalanche of cleaning products," erwin reassurances while he stumbles out of the door.
just as erwin leaves, levi enters. he's got a mask that covers his nose and mouth and rubber gloves that match with his cleaning apron. he's carrying a sponge, some spray, a towel, a broom/dustpan, along with some breath mints.
levi squats on all fours, scrubbing at the floor aggressively as he rides the room of the stench and the stain.
"s... sorry," you croak and levi grimaces.
he ignores you in order to keep scrubbing at the floor just as erwin rushes in with a warm towel and some water. he wipes off your blood, tears, and the mouth to rid you of your vomit. you look at him dazedly as he helps you drink the water he's given you.
levi passes a few breath mints to you when you're done drinking the water, which you eagerly take. you plop them into your mouth, sighing as you rest back against the couch cushions.
"take her to her room," levi orders erwin while spraying the spray onto the floor and couch.
erwin does so in silence, carefully carrying you to your room and laying you on the bed.
"levi won't hurt me will he...? please tell me he won't," you grit your teeth while holding onto erwin's shirt sleeve, tears welling up in your eyes.
"no, he won't. he's just scared," erwin grabs the hand on his sleeve and holds it in his own.
"of what?"
"uncleanliness. a while after he started living with me, i took him to a psychiatrist as i had noticed strange behaviors. he ended up getting diagnosed with ocd, and the psychiatrist thought it had to do with his upbringing in poverty. if things aren't a certain way or clean enough, it causes him to spiral," erwin explains carefully, trying to find the correct words and meanings as he speaks.
"doesn't that... give him more of a reason to hurt me...?" you squeeze his hand tightly and pulling it closer to you in fear.
"it doesn't. why are you insistent at how levi might hurt you," he bunches his eyebrows up in concern while scooting closer to you.
"he's done it so many times before... remember? if i say the wrong thing... i'll get slapped. if i make a mistake, he'll beat me.. i just don't want to hurt anymore," you sob hysterically, bringing your free hand up to your face to cover your eyes.
erwin stares in bewilderment. he hadn't realized just how much levi's beatings effected you. of course, they were supposed to affect you in some way, but not enough where you were terrified of making a wrong move.
"he won't hurt you unless you've deserved it, and you've done nothing in a while. he loves you," erwin stroked his thumb across your skin.
you raise your hand from your eyes to stare at him, heat swarming your face, "he does? he doesn't act like it.."
"of course he loves you," erwin smiles, "i love you as well. we'd never hurt you unless given a reason."
something about his sentence makes your head throb in pain. maybe it was the secret confusion that lingered in your head. they said they loved you, even though they kidnapped you and beat you half to death. but then again, they did provide you with things you'd mentioned to them before in order to keep you happy. they even bought a grand piano for you.
it has your heart speeding up and your body hot, bashfully looking to the side.
you loved them back didn't you? they'd treated you with such care, hadn't they? bathing you, feeding you, dressing you, and even visiting you. anytime they were around you, your heart would speed up and you'd get a weird feeling in your stomach.
that meant love, did it not?
subconsciously, you furrow your eyes and grit your teeth. they didn't love you. they were just crazy.
well, maybe they weren't crazy, maybe just misled. you've yet to learn about erwin's past, but based on the way he acts, you assume that it might be a sensitive topic. that had to be the only logical solution, right?
but if they weren't crazy, they'd let you outside, right?
but then again, the outside world could be dangerous at times. when you went outside last time, you did get scuffed and bruised because of the concrete. maybe they just wanted to protect you? that had to be it.
you open your mouth to reply, but the sound of your door opening and closing has you slamming it shut.
"she's still crying," levi asks while walking closer, frowning at how you grip erwin's hand tighter.
"it's best if i let you and her speak about it," erwin says sadly, letting go of your hand and making his way to the door, "alone."
you gulp as soon as erwin shuts the door behind him, staring at levi anxiously. he plops himself next to your body, just like erwin did before.
"please don't hurt me..."
sighing, he lays himself down next to you and pulls you close to him.
"i'm not going to hurt you," he pulls your head into his chest and wraps his arms around you, "not unless you deserve it."
"but...," you quiver, "you were so angry earlier."
"i wasn't angry. i was just... nervous, i guess. and it wasn't at you, or because of you, it was at the mess."
a silence floods the room as you relax in levi's embrace, heat once again spreading to your cheeks.
"what made you puke? i know lunch wasn't that bad," levi grumbles while rubbing your back, arm slightly stiff.
"erwin... was telling me about his case. the one about the girl getting kidnapped...," you tense up again while levi sighs.
"why would he tell you that? i swear he's gonna end up shooting himself in the foot one day," he shakes his head, "you're not like that girl."
"how so..."
"we did it because we love you, not because we wanted to use your body," he scoffs, "surprised you think of us that lowly."
"n-no! i-i don't," you exclaim.
"i know, i'm just teasing. but don't doubt us like that. we want to love you and care for you, not use you," you trace your finger in a circle at levi's sentence, embarrassment washing over you like a wave.
"you love me?"
"yeah, wouldn't do what i did otherwise."
"i think..." you furrow your eyebrows, unaware of the slightly shocked expression of levi, "i think i love you too..."

You didn't remember the exact date when you found out that you got to study abroad, which was something that you've already wanted to do for a while now. The day the school informed you that you got to travel to another country was more than exciting to you, especially because you finally got to see the differences between the cultures in real life now.
However, your girlfriend, Daki, wasn't as happy about it as you were.
"Y/n, you can't just leave me like that!" She said in this bratty tone that you learned to love, and you couldn't help but hug her gently while the said girl huffed in sadness.
"You know that I love you, Daki. I'm not going abroad because I want to be away from you. I do it because I want to see what the world has to offer." You explained the situation, hoping that she would understand your reasoning.
This made the tinier girl sigh quietly because she felt this anger towards you for leaving her for months on end, but she still felt this sadness in her heart. "I know..." She almost whispered this sentence before she hugged you back, and she nuzzled against your neck.
"I love you. I promise to call you every time I get the chance to do so. I don't want to forget how pretty you sound-" You couldn't help but flirt because you knew that this would help Daki forget her sadness.
And you were right - The first thing she did was to let out this tiny whine, which made you smile in return when Daki heard what you said. "I love you too. You're an idiot, though." - You laughed at this happily before you pulled her into a kiss.
When the time came for you to get on the plane, Daki was more than determined to be there before you had to go. The situation was so cute. She was blushing all the time while she tried to keep herself composed, and you couldn't help but chuckle while you pulled her into this tight hug and a loving kiss. "I'll call you when I land, okay?" You promised her, and apparently, it was enough to make her cry quietly while she nodded her head in agreement.
The flight went surprisingly well, and you kept your promise when you had connected your phone to the airport's free wi-fi. You didn't even realize that it was the middle of the night on your country's end when you called Daki, but it didn't really matter because the said girl answered her phone almost immediately.
"How did the flight go?" Was the first thing she asked when you two had said your hello's, and she hummed softly when you answered her question before she told you that it was around three in the morning on her end. You were just about to apologize for it before she shut you up by speaking up again, "I missed you. I knew that I couldn't fall asleep before I got to hear your voice again, so I stayed up."
This made your heart melt on the spot. Oh, how lucky you were to have a girl like this as your significant other - You didn't want to know how things would've gone if you had never met her in the first place.
"I miss you too, baby. I'll try to send you pictures and videos from here because it's so beautiful in here." You spoke up with a tiny smile on your lips, "I can also try to buy you something. I know how much you like these glass animals, so I'll see if I can find anything like that from here."
You've never spoken so softly before, but the situation felt so intimate even though you two didn't see each other.
"Thank you." - You could hear the smile on Daki's lips, and you shared your I love you's on the spot because you saw your host family walking up to you. "I love you. Please get a good night's sleep for me, baby."
It was going to take a long time before you could hold Daki in your hands again, but you were going to be the best goddamn boyfriend in the world, and you made sure to take care of her, even if you weren't on the spot.

1984....
You and your family have just moved to California, now living in a small apartment complex where you and your brother are sharing a room, which was really a pain in the ass. Especially since Daniel didn't really seem keen on keeping his side tidy, it was annoying really. But you couldn't change it, no matter how bad you wanted to. But you could get out of the apartment for a while...
That's how you found yourself now, exploring the new territory with excitement. You've done been everywhere you'd thought, until you found the beach, that's where you were now. Barefoot as you walk on the beach, watching the ocean with a relaxed gaze.
Until a something hit you on the forehead, making you fall on your back with a yelp, pain instantly taking over your head. You had your eyes squeezed shut, a groan emitting from you.
"shit I think you knocked her out Johnny!" someone laughs, but you didn't care to open your eye's to see who.
"shut up asshole!" someone else says, that's when you felt someone crouched down beside you, hands gently grasping at your shoulders and giving you a gentle shake. Hand carefully pushing hair away from your now hurt forehead.
"hey, you alright?" the same voice said, you crack your eyes open and see two beautiful blue ones looking back at you with concern, his blond hair falling in front of his beautiful eyes as you feel the air being knocked from your lungs, heart skipping a beat as butterflies erupted in your belly.
This stranger was by far the most hottest stranger you've ever seen. He was handsome, beautiful, gorgeous.
"shit, can you hear me?" he asks, his voice bringing you out of your trance.
"y - yeah I'm fine - I'm okay" you stuttered out, trying to sit up, the handsome stranger helping you do so. "what the hell even happened?" you ask, watching how he let's a little smile sneak its way on his face.
"I threw my friends shoe away from him and it uh... Hit you in the face...he really hates sand..." he said trying not to laugh. You giggle a little, giving him a little grin.
"I'll have to admit, it's a little funny... But please watch where you throw stuff next time" you say with a chuckle.
"I can't make any promises sweetheart" he said, giving you a wink. You blushed, hating how handsome this man really was. His wink sending your heart into overdrive. "I'm Johnny Lawrence by the way" he stands up and offers you his hand. Which you gladly take, him helping you stand up.
"I'm y/n larusso, nice to meet you" you say rubbing at the sore spot on your forehead. Johnny looks guilty for a moment before his friends start shouting for him.
"to make it up to you for almost knocking you out, how about me and you go see a movie sometime, my treat?" he questioned, and even though you just got hit in the head you felt like you just won the lottery.
"that sounds nice, how about Friday?" you ask with a smile. Johnny gives you a smile as he stuffs his hands in his pockets, walking backwards and back to his friends.
"Friday it is" he confirmed, he set up the time and place and you felt yourself counting down the days until then.
Who would have thought being hit in the face with a shoe would have scored you a date with a handsome man?
Who would've thought that, that date would have brought you and Johnny closer, the outcome of being hit in the face making a beautiful relationship bloom. After that one movie date with Johnny there was more than one. One night you both went rollerskating another night you went mini gulfing. And after almost two weeks of dating Johnny had snuck you both into the local pool for a midnight swim. That was the night you first kissed, a night you would always remember.
You've been dating for a year, You fell so helplessly in love with him, he was sweet, loving, kind and even a gentleman. But you was the only one who saw that side of him. The only one who saw Johnny for who he really was. Everyone else saw him for his reputation, being a bully, a badass cobra Kai. They looked past his soft side that only you brought out, and looked straight at his tough guy attitude.
And even though he could be bit of an asshole and bully - especially with your brother. He wasn't really a bad guy. But you knew Daniel wouldn't agree with your relationship with Johnny, so you dated in secret. Always having dates when everyone in your house was asleep, hiding whenever you share kisses at school. Fleeting touches shared secretly, lingering gazes hidden.
But it was worth it, Johnny was worth it. And even though you knew Johnny and Daniel hated each other, you couldn't stay away from Johnny. You loved him. And the mere thought of leaving him hurt. So instead of choosing who you kept in your life, you tried keeping both. Because you knew if it ever came down to it Daniel wouldn't ever speak to you if he found out you and Johnny was a thing, that thought was painful considering you and Daniel was like twins, although he was a year older. And if Johnny knew Daniel wasn't speaking to you just because you two was dating, he'd make you runaway with him where you both could be together without someone trying to tear you apart.
You sigh at your wandering thoughts and live in the moment, that being seated in the sand, watching the ocean with Johnny's arm around you, holding you close against him you wearing his red jacket because the night wind was chilly. You've been sitting there for hours, listening to music on the boom box he brought. Talking and perhaps maybe making out.
It was nearing 2am when Johnny stood up, bringing you with him as he cups your cheek in hand and holds your hip in the other.
"we should probably get you home before you're family realize that you are gone" he muttered, face closer to yours. You smile and peck his lips before running off toward his bike. Hopping on the back and waiting for him you give him a grin.
"you better hurry slow poke!" you say, watching him run toward you with a laugh, the happiness on his face enough to cause your heart to swell.
Once he makes it to you he gives you a smirk, one hand resting on the handle bares of the bike while the other is resting on the seat behind you. He leans his face closer to yours.
"you're a tease y/n" he said, capturing your lips with his, the kiss deep and slow. His lips moving against yours perfectly. You pull away from the kiss and give him a cheeky smile.
"c'mon hot shot let's get going before Daniel wakes up for his usual kitchen raid" you joke making Johnny laugh. Hopping on the bike and listening to it roar to life. You wrapped your arms around Johnny's middle, holding him tight.
He then zooms down the road, wind blowing through your hair. You hold onto Johnny tightly, making him feel as if he was on top of the world. It didn't take long for him to slow down, before shutting the bike off. You was home, the apartment complex quiet all the lights off. You hop of the bike as Johnny stayed seated, watching you shrug off his jacket and handing it to him.
"I wish you could wear it all the time, it looks good on you" he said, taking it and putting it on.
"I think it looks pretty good on you Johnny" you replied back with a grin. He rolls his eyes and chuckles.
"you better get inside before Daniel or you're mom wakes up, my bike isn't exactly quiet" he points out causing you to sigh. "goodnight y/n"
"goodnight Johnny..." you lean in to give him one last kiss, him being the tease he is nibbles at your bottom lip. You giggle into the kiss and pull back reluctantly, Johnny smirking at you.
"I'll see you at school, bye babe" he starts up the bike as you back away slowly with a wave.
"bye Johnny, love you!" you say slightly loud over the noisy bike.
"love you too!" you watch how he gives you a wink before zooming down the road, disappearing from your sight. You sigh dreamily and head inside.
Completely oblivious to the watching eye's in your home.
You slip inside your bedroom and close the door quietly, slowly crawling in bed. As you laid down the light turns on making you jump up startled. Daniel gives you a look of disappointment. Making you instantly know that he knew.
"y'know I didn't believe Mr Miyagi when he told me that he saw you hanging around with Johnny but know I feel like a fool for not" he said, the disappointment Clear in his voice.
You sigh and hold your head in your hands. This was going to be a disaster...
"i was going to tell you -
"that's a lie" he scoffs, shaking his head. He looked angry now, he had a look of betrayal swimming in his eye's, "he's nothing but trouble y/n he's a bully! To be precise he bullies me!" now you scoff, looking up at Daniel with a annoyed look.
"I've been talking to him about that, he hasn't bathered you any now has he? he's not a bad guy Danny, he's nice, kind and he treats me like a queen! You just never give him the chance to be a nice civilized person because you instantly start going at each other's throats" you huff out, watching your brother shake his head.
"he's everything but good, did you see how he was fighting me at the tournament? He was fighting dirty!" he nearly yelled in anger, causing you to tense your jaw.
"he's different when it's just me and him, he's always so kind, so sweet...he loves me Danny, and I know you don't wanna hear it but I love him too... " you trail off knowing no matter what you say Daniel wouldn't change his mind. He didn't approve of the relationship, he didn't want you around him...
"he's a bad guy y/n, he's gonna end up breaking you're heart and I don't want that to happen to you... You deserve better" he muttered before cutting the light off and angrily going to sleep.
The next few days after that night was horrible. When you woke up you had walked into the kitchen, picking up a orange from the fruit bowl and tossing it to Daniel with a little 'think fast!' in hopes he would catch it like usual, a smile on his face. But instead he focused on his bowl of cereal and let it fall to the floor, ignoring you.
At school he didn't even look at you, wouldn't speak to you or even let you sit with him at lunch. It was painful, especially since you and Daniel was like bestfriends. He was always there for you when you needed him, a shoulder to lean on, cry on. You felt absolutely heart broken but thought perhaps he'd go back to being his normal self over time... But days turned to weeks and that's when you knew what needed to be done, no matter how hard it would be...
The room was dark, the only light being that of the moons blue hue shining through the window. You laid on your bed, watching the clock tick as you patiently wait for midnight to roll around. The cold silver locket in your hand felt heavy, your heart aching. You look down at the metal locket and sigh, flipping it open you let a little smile etch itself on your lips, the picture of you and Johnny one of your favorites, it was the night of your second date, the one where you had both went rollerskating. It was taken by Johnny, he held it further away from you both, smiling wide as you were. You close the locket as midnight had arrived, and for once you actually dread it.
Standing from the bed and slipping out the door, before you closed it Daniel spoke up making you freeze in shock that he was talking to you and fright that you had been caught.
"remember what I told you about him y/n, he's a prick, he'll kick you in the back any chance he gets" Daniel said, making a lump form in your throat. Looking down at the locket in your hand you nod.
"I won't give him the opportunity Danny..." you muttered, tears filling your eyes as you shut the door and leave the house with a heavy heart, a dark cloud lingering over your head.
The streets was empty, void of traffic or people. The star's twinkling in the night sky as the moons light danced across the ocean, waves crashing into the shore, sitting in the sand the man who stole your heart the moment you looked into his beautiful eyes...
Letting out a deep breath and wiping at your eye's in hopes the tears would go away you walk over to Johnny with a fake smile. He looks up at you with a smile.
"hey babe, before I came here I got you something" he grins up at you, holding a hand behide him and away from your sight. You felt your heart being squeezed by an unbearable pain. Out of all the nights he had to be the sweetest it just had to be now...
"oh, what it is?" you say sitting beside him, watching how he only grins wider.
"give me a kiss and it's you'res" you give him a genuine smile, leaning in and pecking his lips shortly. But that obviously wasn't enough, his pout saying it all, "what was that? That was hardly even a kiss!" he laughs, making you roll your eyes and press a more firm kiss on his lips, deciding to deepen it, relishing in the feeling of his soft lips on yours, engraving his taste into your memory as you place a hand on his jaw and pull him closer. Making him let out a noise of surprise into it, smirking as he pulls away slowly.
"how was that?" you ask teasingly. He chuckles and shows you the gift, which wasn't much honestly, just a flower, your favorite. You take it and feel your heart swell at the sweet gesture.
"johnny it's beautiful! Thank you" you kiss his cheek and decide you should give him the locket, even though you knew Johnny wouldn't even think twice about wearing a necklace, you still wanted him to have it. You pull it out of your pocket and hand it to him.
"I know you won't ever wear it, but I wanted you to have this..." you muttered, watching how he takes it and looks over it, a fond smile on his face.
"a locket?" he asks with confusion, looking inside it at the picture, "our second date..." he chuckles at the memory. He looks back up at you with a look of pure love and affection, making you feel sick to your stomach. Johnny noticed the change of mood in you and gives you a concerned look.
"what's wrong?" he placed the locket down and cups your face. You bite your bottom lip to stop it from trembling, unable to look him in the eye's.
"I - I'll always love you Johnny, no matter what... You know that right?" you say, voice cracking. He nods his head and wipes away a falling tear off your cheek. You didn't even know you was crying...
"of course, I'll always love you too y/n" he reassures you, but he only made you feel worse...
"I want to end things..." you let out your tears, your voice trembled. Johnny looks takem back by your words, shocked. He let's go of your cheek and flickers his eyes across your face, looking for any sign of anything but truth.
"what? Why?..." he questioned as he clenched his fist around the necklace in his hand. His once happy smile morphing into anger and sadness.
"we can't be together anymore... I'm sorry Johnny... I love you -
"if you loved me then you wouldn't be saying all that - bullshit!" he stood up, necklace in a vice like grip in his hand as he looked down at you with heart broken eyes, anger, betrayal.
"I'm sorry" you sob out, tears freely falling from your eye's. Johnny scoffs and shakes his head, tears swimming in a pool of anger in those beautiful blues of his, making your heart break even more.
"I should have expected this, you leading me on. You're no better then that loser brother of yours!" he yelled, taking one last look at the locket, his tears fell from his eye's making him angrily wipe them away, "love me forever eh?" he takes the locket and throws it somewhere away from you both.
You sit helplessly, crying on the beach as you watch Johnny walk away. But you knew if you had Johnny in your life your brother would never talk to you again.... It was a hard choice, and you found yourself regretting it...
2018....
You woke up with a loud groan, rolling over in bed spotting the book on your bed side table, reaching over and taking it, opening the book to see the old withered and slightly torn flower, your favorite. Although it's color was slightly gone and it was dead, you loved it. It reminded you of him.
Shutting the book you place it back on the table and stand up from your bed, deciding to begin the day with a hot shower. you gathered your clothes and head into the bathroom. After that you had a tiny breakfast and head straight to your brothers work, only to torture him a bit.
It's been years since that horrid night you broke up with Johnny, yet it still haunts you. The guilt and regret never went away, you never dated anyone after that, never got married. Although your brother would always set up blind dates for you, saying you needed someone in your life like how he had amanda, his wife.
You smile when you pull up into the auto shop, seeing the big letters of your last name plastered on the building. Parking your car and stepping out you head inside instantly spotting Daniel, who gives you a wide smile.
"well if it isn't the bum who always drops by!" he joked, hugging you. You laugh and hug him back.
"I dropped by to see if I could get my insurance this month payed off for free" you joke right back making him roll his eyes.
"no can do sis, I'm afraid you're gonna have to do that yourself" he said with a chuckle. "what are you here for though? Need a job? Because we are always hiring y/n - and I think you'd really love -
"Danny I don't need a job here" you laugh at his rambling. Daniel was always so eager to hire you, he wanted you both to work in the same field, under the same roof. But you didn't want to work at his business, although it was pretty awesome, you didn't really like the whole 'car selling and paperwork' theme. So you was a waitress at a old dinner, it didn't pay good but you wasn't poor. You knew Daniel felt slightly guilty for having so much money and a big house while you struggled to pay rent in a apartment building. That's why he made it a habit of loaning you - gifting actually, money. Even when you refused to take it.
"I actually came here to ask you about the whole dick in you're mouth thing?" you giggle at his face of horror and frustration.
"oh God you saw the billboard?" he asks with a low tone, a look of annoyance etched on his face.
"of course I saw it! I think everyone has" you laughed, almost at the point of wheezing. "I even took a picture so I can always have it as a reminder" you wheeze out, causing him to groan.
"of course you'd do that" he muttered with a roll of his eyes.
"who done that anyway?" you ask, watching his expression turn from embarrassing and frustrated to conflict and deep thought.
"they didn't find him...or her..." he muttered, turning his back on you. Confused by how he just obviously lied to you, you shrug it off and understand it's a touchy subject for him, Amanda kindly texting you not to bring it up, but you did because it was to good not to.
"okay, well I hope you're day doesn't suck to bad" you stifle a laugh at your pun. He groans and shoo's you away.
"get out of here before I ban you!" you laugh loudly and complie, leaving the place. But as you walk to your car you noticed a yellow flyer on the ground. curious, you pick it up, heart skipping a beat at the word's...cobra Kai... But your heart fluttered yet is clenched with a guilt filled pain at the picture.
Johnny Lawrence in all his glory. He looked the same, a bit aged but still the handsome man who stole your heart all those years ago.
Folding the picture up you hop inside your car, deciding a little visit to this new cobra Kai dojo wasn't so bad. So starting your car and searching for the place you let your mind wander.
Was he still mad at you? Did he hate you?
Of course he did. you broke his heart for Christ's sake. He threw the locket you gave him away like it was a poisonous snake. You sigh when the building comes in sight. You park and stare at it, debating whether you should go in or not.
What if he didn't want to see you? Or what the hell would you even say?
You let out a deep dragged out breath before opening up your car door and getting out. You wanted to see him again, you needed to. So without a second thought you approached the dojo, getting ready to open the door while your head was held low.
That's when you felt a horrible pain in your nose as you fall on your back, a yelp emitting from you as you hold your hurting nose. Feeling the warm sensation of blood slowly falling from it. With eyes squeezed shut you groan.
"oh my God! Are you okay?" the familier sound of the one and only Johnny Lawrence blesses your ears. You feel his hands gently push your hair away and out of your face. "lady you're gonna have to move your hands otherwise I can't see what the hells wrong" you would have laughed at his polite yet slightly rude words if you didn't think your nose was broken.
You move them slowly and open your eyes only to be greeted with his beautiful concern filled blue ones. That's when it hit him, the realization of who you were, "y/n larusso? Is that you?" you sit up slowly and nod.
"yeah, is it just me or do you greet all women by hurting them unintentionally?" you joke, causing him to smile a small smile.
"come inside and let me check you're nose out, try stop the bleeding" he says while helping you up, leading you inside. His hold on your hand never filtered as he held it all the way to a little office typed room. Cleaning his desk off and motioning you to sit down on it. You do so and watch how he disappeared into some other room and soon returned with a few tissues and a cotton ball.
"so what brings you here? Wanting to learn some karate?" he asks with a teasing smile, wiping the blood from your nose then delicately placing the cotton ball inside the bleeding nostril.
"no, I actually saw a flyer and wanted to... See you" you muttered the last sentence but he heard. Giving you a small barely noticeable smile he crossed his arms. "it's been a while" you say with a nervous chuckle. Taking your eyes off him and looking down at your hands.
"well, since I hit you with my door how about I make it up to you and buy you a drink?" he suggests, causing you to snap your head up eagerly and nod.
"that sounds only fair" you giggle. He chuckles and reaches for his keys beside you on the table.
"then follow me" he said as he leads you out of the dojo.
In a car ride full of silence besides the classic rock playing on the radio, you both had arrived at a quiet little bar, where you both sat tucked away in a booth in the corner. A beer in both your hands as you talked and laughed like old times.
"oh God, do you remember that time when I snuck in through you're bedroom window and I didn't know you and you're brother shared room?" he asks with a laugh, the memory a hilarious one.
"you had to hide under the bed for like 5 hours before Daniel went to sleep!" you laughed, remembering how Daniel stayed up that night for hours telling you horrible jokes and stuff. Poor Johnny hiding under your bed and suffering through it with you.
"nothing will ever be as funny as that one time we went skating and you nearly broke my neck trying to push me away from you because you saw Daniel with ali" he snickered, sipping his beer as you snort.
"you wouldn't stop trying to make out with me, I thought he would for sure see us" you giggle while sipping your own beer.
"we used to have so much fun" he muttered, a nostalgic look on his face. You give him a fond smile and nod.
"y'know, I never wanted to break up with you that night..." you say, mind slightly buzzed from all the beers you've had. Not quite drunk, just more bolder with your words. "the only reason I did was because Daniel found out about us... He Stopped talking to me for days, he hated me"
That caught his attention and made him devote his full attention on you.
"he stopped talking to me, completely acting as if I didn't exist. So I knew if I didn't end things between you and me, I'd lose my only brother" you sigh, shaking your head and giving him a apologetic look. "I'm sorry I think I've had way to many -
"I kept it..." he blurted out, cutting your words short. You give him a confused look. "the locket, I went back the night after you ended things and found it" he reaches for the neckline of his shirt and pulled out the silver necklace locket.
You felt a flutter in your heart, a hope blooming inside you that perhaps maybe you still had a chance with Johnny. He smiles and flips the heart shaped pendent open, revealing the photo inside.
"you found it?" you questioned as you stood only to sit beside him, shoulders nearly touching as he shows it to you.
"of course, I didn't really throw it that far" he said while closing it, shoving it back under his shirt, "besides, even though you broke up with me I couldn't ever get you off my mind" he confessed while looking at you with those big blue eye's of his.
"likewise, I regretted that night ever since it happened" you muttered while looking away from him, feeling the guilt and heartbreak weighing down on you. Tears slowly starting to glisten in your eye's.
But Johnny gently placed his hand on your face, palm firmly pressed on your cheek as he makes you look at him.
"I understand y/n, I understand that you done that because you're brother and I aren't exactly bestfriends" he reassures you. Causing a little smile to tug at your lips. "I never stopped loving you y/n, and even though I can't stand you're brother... I'd love to take you to dinner sometime?" he asks with a little half smile.
You felt a wave of happiness wash over you, heart swelling with joy as you nod.
"of course, I'd love that" you say with a wide grin. He let's out a little chuckle, a silence falling over you two, his hand still on your cheek as he just let's his eyes roam your face with adoration.
"I missed you" he muttered, his thumb rubbing at your cheek.
"I missed you too..." you murmured, as you lean into his touch.
And as if he couldn't live without his lips on yours he brings your face closer and pressed his lips on yours. You was surprised at first but soon let your lips move with his in the familier way you missed, the kiss was enough to take your breath away. The way he nibbled at your bottom lip caused you to giggle into the kiss. Pulling away he gives you his beautiful smirk.
"I see you haven't changed a bit Johnny" you murmur with, small smile on your face.
"neither have you y/n..." he placed another kiss on your forehead as he wraps a arm around you, holding you close to him. For once in your life you feel content, happy. And there is no place you'd rather be than in Johnny's warm arms..

"Ew, look at this." You hand the dusty old photo album to Beomgyu who's sprawled across the floor by your side.
"Wait—" He stops you, rolling away before letting out a sneeze so loud that it managed to echo off the dusty untouched walls of his old room. The poor guy couldn't help it, his room hadn't been cleaned since he moved out in the middle of high school, and his mom preferred to keep things as they were— dust and all. You wonder if it was simply an excuse to clean one less room.
Beomgyu did say he had dropped in yesterday without notice. You'd think he'd want to spend some quality time with his parents first, but he'd decided to invite you over after spending a single night under this roof. Having heard nothing but radio silence from your best friend in years, you were thrilled to get to see him again. And what better way to shed off the ever present awkwardness in the beginning than to go through old photo albums?
"Okay, show me." Beomgyu rolls back to your side, scooting in closer to rest his head on your lap.
You turn the photo album, pointing at one photo in particular of you and Beomgyu dressed as a knight and damsel in distress— Beomgyu playing the role of the latter. Contrary to the roles, you were pummeling Beomgyu to the ground as if having caught a thief, and Beomgyu was shoving his handkerchief to your face, blocking your eyesight. The context behind the photograph alludes you, but this might just be a case of seven-year-olds doing whatever they want whenever.
"The fuck you mean ew? I look great in that dress!" Frowning, Beomgyu grabs the album to stare longer at his past self's glory.
"Lying to yourself isn't good for you, Gyu." You jokingly disapprove. It was fun seeing his reactions right after.
"Oh, look at these."
Beomgyu points at a photo of you and him on stage, wearing the same costumes as before. You figured it was for a play back in first grade when you two had been classmates. The next series of photos included one of you holding out a sword towards a kid in a cheap dragon costume, one of Beomgyu holding back his tears after tripping over and ripping his dress, and ones of you rushing to Beomgyu and kissing away his tears.
"This takes me back." Beomgyu lights up with a smile, failing to notice the surprise on your face. "Remember when your mom made us believe that kissing any injuries we had would make it go away? I knew you wanted to help me back then but I couldn't stop crying and tell you were it hurt, so you started kissing all over my face hoping it'd go away."
You find yourself laughing at your past self's foolishness. "But did it work?" You ask in between laughs.
"Well," Beomgyu chuckles, getting up from his position on your lap. "I don't think it would've worked if another person had done it. But since it was you— Wait." He takes one last look at the album, letting slip a wheeze before placing it back in its box. "Mom wrote something right below the photo."
"What did she write?" You ask, holding out your hands for Beomgyu to grab.
"A fairy tale with a happy ending always brings a smile to my face." Beomgyu tells you as he helps you up, trying his best to keep a straight face after delivering that line.
The two of you burst into laughter at his mother's words. You knew she'd been fond of fairy tales all her life but the caption was taking you out. Beomgyu was literally crying in the photo yet somehow this, to her, was a happy ending.
You eventually take notice of all the photos plastered around his room, some framed, and some simply stuck to the walls— memories of happier times. Most were of you and him, and in some, just you. He'd shown off the Polaroid camera his mother bought for him in seventh grade, proclaiming he'd only take photos of moments he'd want to keep in his memory forever. It never actually crossed your mind that a lot of them would be of you.
Beomgyu notices your wandering eyes and chuckles, placing an arm around your shoulder. The distance between you shrinks as he holds you closer. And at that moment, you take note of everything that's changed.
He'd gotten taller since the last time you saw him. Gone was the lanky boy you knew, evident in the way his muscles flexed with every small movement you wish you hadn't noticed. Beomgyu had grown his hair out; the thick, wavy locks tucked behind his ears, covering the back of his neck. The deepness of his voice had been a surprise when he greeted you at the door earlier, but you held back from pointing it out.
You feared that if you acknowledged all the changes, you'd be forced to face reality. That things weren't the same anymore, no matter how hard you tried. After all, Beomgyu wasn't the only one who changed. You had quite the few character development arcs yourself, and experiences which Beomgyu remained oblivious of. And somehow despite that, in his presence, you started to feel like your old self again.
Beomgyu's invitation had come as a surprise last night. You thought he'd forgotten about you, what with all the silence these past few years.
Life continued on as it should even without Beomgyu by your side, but you could argue that all the amazing experiences you've had on your own would've been better if he were there to experience it with you. And now here you were in his old room, pretending everything was the same as he'd left it.
You look up at your old friend, wanting to tell him what had been plaguing your thoughts the entire day but find yourself tongue tied when his dark eyes stare back into your own. And you wonder, how many times had it been that you'd stared into each other's eyes just like this? How many times had he pulled you close into his arms all those years? And just how many nights had you spent wondering if your feelings for him had grown into something more?
"I missed you." Beomgyu speaks first, his gaze never faltering.
Hearing his voice, you swear you could've melted right then and there. Part of you had wished he'd tell you those exact words, confirming that it hadn't been just you who'd been wanting to see him all these years.
"I missed you too."
Beomgyu could only smile at your response.
His arm leaves your shoulder— hands slowly finding their way to your own. His hold was gentle as he slowly guided you to face him.
"Don't laugh, but," Beomgyu starts. "Do you believe in love at first sight?"
"Love at fir—"
The question throws you off.
"What?"
"I heard you the first time!" You cut him off, wanting so bad to cover your face from the secondhand embarrassment. "I can't believe you just said that. What even happened to you in college?"
"Hey! At least hear me out before you make fun of me." Beomgyu bursts out laughing at your reaction, his thumbs caressing the back of your hands to help you calm down. "Judging from your reaction, I'm guessing your answer is a no. And I honestly felt the same too until a few hours back."
"Okay, you lost me there."
"Shut up. What I'm saying is," Beomgyu squeezes your hands, leaning in closer. "I'm sorry I haven't been in touch the last few years. I had a lot of trouble adjusting, and it took a while for me to really get the hang of living alone. I wanted to talk to you as soon as I got there but then I thought that maybe it would've been better for you if I left you to live your own life for a while too."
"Beomgyu.." You squeeze his hands back, sensing the sincerity in his eyes.
Beomgyu shakes his head. "I know this sounds silly and all, but I didn't want you to feel the emptiness I felt when I left. I wanted you to go and make experiences of your own without me."
You frown, refraining to speak until he's done.
"But then I couldn't stop thinking about you. Everywhere I went, I'd think of you and how the place would've been better if we got to hang out there together. Every time I had fun or ate something that tasted good, I wanted you to share the experience with me."
Beomgyu sighs. "Honestly, I thought I could make it through my visit home without seeing you but I passed by your house on my way home yesterday and I just.. I couldn't hold back. And when I saw you for the first time in years at the front of my doorstep.. I knew I had to tell you."
Half of you knew what to expect, and the other half doubted the reality of the situation. But all the doubts instantly melt away as soon as Beomgyu closed the distance between you, pressing your foreheads together.
Face flushed, you stare at him in awe and notice he had his eyes closed shut. "Cute." You thought.
He whispers in a voice so quiet you could barely hear.
"I like you."
You couldn't hold it in any longer, the rush of emotions crashing into you like raging waves against a cliff. The next moment, you find yourself inching closer and closer, face heating up even more as you press your lips against his as a reply.
Beomgyu's eyes widen, body freezing in place. He hadn't exactly expected you to respond so soon, especially not like this. And he couldn't be happier.
You feel Beomgyu returning the kiss, his hands going up to cup your face— his hold gentle. The two of you wanted nothing more than to stay in this moment for as long as life permits, because for once, you could finally see the path to your happily ever after slowly unraveling.
This was just the beginning.
