i'm rewatching princess tutu and realized i never actually went back and watched any after getting into it in middle school, but it's like, THE shoujo of shoujos. everything abt it is so beautifully oldschool shoujo. i remembered duck x fakir endgame4life but forgot that the first time duck sees fakir in a good light is bc he finds her as a duck and carries her into a nice patch of grass and gives her some bread crumbs like "you stupid bird :) you weren't gonna find any food in there". it's literally this tweet with a tsundere boy

#the other 2 big thoughts i'm having are 1) wow this dub is awful #in the most beautiful way. but wow did i just forget that early 2000s anime dubs were like this or is this one exceptionally bad?#the way they talk is like the writers translated the japanese sentences in japanese grammatical order #they say things like 'somehow he seems happy today' and it's like you didn't have to directly translate 'nandaka'#props for preservation effort but i can't imagine someone watching this as their first anime and going yeah that's how tv shows sound #the other thing i've been thinking is that fakir and mytho must've had some craaaazy yaoi written about them in the early 2000s #like dude oh my god #anyway those are two distinct points that keep coming up but mostly i'm just happy to be watching it again #i like the cheesy dub bc it kinda contributes to the soft warm feeling the whole show has #so pinnacle of its aesthetic so classic so good #personal
