hello len i hope ur night is as fantastic as u 🫡 question for u and i just want u to picture it and i would love to hear ur headcanons: jegulus having a garden. who would tend to it more, what kind of things would they grow, stuff like that??

i hope you are having a beautiful night too <3 you have no idea how much i'm loving you rn for asking this 

first and foremost, i believe that both would tend the garden to the same extent but in different areas. 

james' speciality would be all plants that have flowers, as monty taught him to look after those in his own garden from which he regularly gives effie flowers (he does the same for regulus now). roses, zinnias, daisies, carnations, chrysanthemums, etc. of all colours fill his part of the garden which regulus could sit and look at all afternoon.

regulus' speciality, on the other hand, would be all kinds of medicinal plants (mint, sage, rue, rosemary, etc.) which he had to learn about for survival purposes, and exotics (carnivorous plants, various types of succulents, a giant monstera which is his pride and joy, etc.).

if it were up to james, the plants would be growing all over the place without control, so it is regulus who would organise the sorting of the plants (flowers/non-flowers, type of soil they need, etc) and who keeps a detailed excel of when they need to be pruned.

when it comes to medicinal plants james also knows a thing or two, as long as it's about flowers. whenever regulus has trouble sleeping or feels very anxious he makes him an infusion of valerian, lavender for headaches, etc.

there was a time (dark times for them) when they tried to plant fruit and vegetables but failed miserably so now they only keep the lemon tree which strangely remained and bore fruit after james (on effie's recommendation) threatened to chop it down.

james thinks that regulus didn't notice that he placed his calendulas and geraniums strategically close to his most delicate plants to repel pests and insects, but every time he remembers it he can't help the smile on his face.

for one of their anniversaries/valentines, regulus would give james a white hibiscus (which is his favourite flower and the only colour he doesn't have), and james would give him an escargot begonia (a plant regulus is obsessed with).

i could go on about this all night lol

Trying something new with shade plants. I dream of having large mixed pots with huge, flowers begonias and pretty leaves. I passed up a begonia escargot today, because I already had 2 begonias I needed to pot up. I just love the little asymmetrical leaves so much.

Looks like they got dressed fancy for this equally fancy dinner, a nice black to silver gradient dress to accentuate their figure with a thigh slit, a cute dress shirt for a top, unbuttoned a little to frame that pretty necklace he gifted them.

They will slide a box into his hand, taking the other and kissing the back of it.

It seems to be some sort of bracelet with bird features, the wings to be wrapped around the wrist, the slightly lengthy tail flexible enough to also wrap around. It's gold and silver, the eyes set with dragon's breath glass.

*It's coded to be able to turn into a bird with some little extra things, lock picking, surveillance, locate small lost things for you. I hope you like it~ It'll fit which ever form you take easily, so it won't be in the way and you don't need to worry about it slipping off.

They pull him into a lingering kiss, putting as much love into as they can, pulling back and cupping the side of his face, the softest look in their eyes and smile.

Spachiel made sure to dress in one of the finest suits he impulse bought, a pink blazer with iridescent dark wings sewn around black lapels. Black slacks, black shirt, and a pink tie to match the jacket. His hair is combed back into a perfectly slick oily coif and his person liberally spritzed in cologne.

With the new energy source he had installed, he felt like a million kromer and by God he is going to put on his best face for Cerise.

Once he sees them, despite all his repairs and careful preening, he still rattles like a tin can in a suit, only this time not from a lack of energy but an overwhelming surplus. His eye lights flash back and forth between their pink and yellow hues and he practically floats the rest of the way to approach them as his wings beat excitedly at the sight of them.

"HII1I CERISE..~" He says with a dopey grin, making no attempt to hide how his gaze travels down from the slightly unbuttoned shirt right to the slit of their skirt. He swoons, sighing out a lovestruck little puff of steam.

Spachiel takes the box and opens it, delighted at how pretty and shiny the bracelet is already, but it even comes with useful features that he definitely is going to use for suspicious purposes? His eye lights flash rapidly again.

He slips it right into his wrist, considering himself lucky that he hadn't chosen to accessorize beyond cufflinks. Short of a watch, the bracelet finishes off his look perfectly he thinks.

"I LOVE THE IT!!!" He chirps, and turns a light shade of red as he offers up his own gift in exchange.

This gift is not nearly as elaborate as his last; it is just a small shiny sachet with seeds inside. He explains with a nervous little chuckle, "HHEHEH,, sO,...I LOVE YOUR [[Better Homes & Gardens]].., I THINK IT'S [[based and epic]][[admirable]][[means a lot to me]] OF YOU TO TRY AND BRING SOME STUFF OF THE LITE WORL TO OUR WORDL. SO I DID SOME [[number 1 search engine on the web]] FOR [[10 Plants That Grow Well In The Dark]], AND I MANAGED TO GET MY [[filthy little paws]] ON SOEM OF THEzE BABYS. SELLER LISTING SAID: [[Escargot Rex Begonia]] AND HAD THE FUNK1EST SWORLY LEAF PICS!! I THOT MABE YOU WOULD [[hit the like button]]." While there was plenty of thought and consideration that went into his choice, presenting such a mundane gift after his last one, and after receiving such a fancy gift from Cerise himself, makes him feel a bit silly and inadequate. Can't be extra every time though.

He worries less about the quality of his gift once Cerise pulls him in for a kiss though. His metallic fingers twitch as he reels in the urge to get handsy with them.

"STAREING? WHOSE STAR1NG??" He scoffs, while blatantly still staring.

His eyes glance about shiftily as he tries to hide it, but his gaze still seems to be drawn every so often to Cerise's neckline or legs. He just can't keep his eyes off them.

Spachiel hooks his arm through theirs and pulls them closer to his side. He may have the sense not to be handsy in public, but he doesn't want to let go of them either. Plus having an attractive and successful addison on his arm has the added benefit of making him feel ten stories tall with smug pride.

"I'LL TRY NOT TO [[beat the rush]] MY WAY THRU [[DINNER]], BUT YOU KNOW I HAVE A K1LLER [[sweet tooth]], AHEHEEHHAHA~!"

Lavali and Flowers  

@ellakay69 OK LISTEN you made a GREAT suggestion because Lavali LOVES flowers! When I read your message it was like she jumped alive in my head and went “YEAH FLOWERS, MY BABIES, PUT THEM ALL IIIIN”.  Her name is ALSO the name of a plant! (And she started researching flowers because of her name). Lavalī (लवली) is a Sanskrit word for Phyllanthus acidus (West India gooseberry), otherwise named as Harfarevadi. This tree is mentioned as bearing good fruits. It is very nutritional and can be used medically. 

There are no specific flowers I connect her with in terms of flower symbolism but I made a moodboard with the flowers she has around her (in her room and her office).

*Azaleas were once so infamous for their toxicity that to receive a bouquet of their flowers in a black vase was a well-known death threat! This kinda sums Lavali up, because she is sweet and kind but if you piss her off, a ticket to the Other World is guaranteed for you!

Begonia update pt. Most of these got a bit of trim, as they had some older leaves that were either damaged or immature and different color The first is "West Texas Blizzard" from Steve's Leaves which I think has actually been renamed "Starry Night" or something. I was disappointed when I first got it because the immature leaves were more rounded with a olive colored edge and it was sold as "true black" BUT in the two or three months I've had it, it has grown some jagged, very black leaves with more on the way so I pruned off the greener ones. Then there's "Fireworks" which has been growing so dark for some reason. Some Fireworks came into work that are almost entirely green/silver with a small purple edge and my Fireworks somehow has lost more and more of the silver on its new leaves so now the freshest ones are consistently very purple with silver spotting. Then my newest which I don't know the name of but I believe is probably just the basic "Escargot". You can see it has different parentage than my other rex's because there is so much pink fuzz. Then Begonia masoniana or Iron Cross which I thought was a cultivar at first because it was very pale but the new leaves have come out with dark, vivid markings. Really REALLY love his texture... spikey. Rough. Then lastly is my Begonia maculata wightii that I bought from Logees in May. There was a bit there where I was worried it wouldn't adjust to my house and I've heard B. maculata can be more fuss than others sometimes but it just needed a bit of time to be a drama queen. Now it has a LOT of new growth and will probably fill out to the extent it will soon need a bigger pot and more stakes. The bit that fell off him during shipping has also successfully rooted and is growing well. Not sure why so many people claim this is such a difficult begonia.
