Shortly after the end of the Titans War Percy is so adamant about making Alabaster feel like he has a home so he tries to take him to meet his friends and the first one is Nico. And Alabaster is like "I don't want to meet any of your stupid siblings stupid Jackson just LeAvE mE aLoNe" but when Alabaster and Nico see each other for the first time and Percy introduces Alabaster as his reluctant friend, by some reason Nico and Al feel they could get along and the meeting goes surprisingly well.

Nico's soft, doleful features shutter closed like a lemon being wrung of its juices. "Torrington."

"You know each other?" Percy awkwardly laughs, scratching the back of his head.

"Do we know each other? This little shit owes me 20 drachmas!"

"20 drachmas?!"

"Ahem. I'm leaving. Very important Ghost King stuff to attend to..."

"Oh no, the fuck you don't!" Alabaster snarls, and the shadow bleeding across the wall to embrace Nico suddenly juts out, knocking the son of Hades onto his ass. Nico shouts in pain. "What, is the little Prince too broke to cough up the pretty penny he owes me?"

"Nico, why do you owe Al 20 drachmas?!" Percy demands. "That's too much, money doesn't grow on trees!"

"It does for him, he just dips his hand in daddy's mines anyway."

A string of curses leaves Nico. "I'll pay you your winnings—when you don't cheat to earn them!"

"Do you know how hard it is to earn money when—" Alabaster slips into a violent mix of Ancient Greek and Latin, blinding green unfurling from his hands like—

Percy's eyes widen as Nico unsheathes his Stygian Iron sword just in time to block Alabaster's... beam batons? Lightsabers without the saber handles. Glowsticks if they grew out of hands and didn't have a plastic encasing.

Maybe it hadn't been the best idea to introduce these two.

Okay but real talk, ngl I kinda hate Childe, but I’m gonna take that as a challenge WAHHAHA That is why I’ve inserted Zhongli as a buffer 

SO THERE here’s Childe, Zhongli, n you having a date in a pavilion <33

As usual, no pronouns used. The only way to describe you is shorter than Childe cause let’s face it, no matter how tall you are Mihoyo is going to make him TALLER

“C’mon, it’s around here!”

You’re keeping up with Childe as best you can. At times like this you solemnly swear that there’s something in the Snezhnayan waters that make them so tall. Nonetheless, you stomp through the tall grass. You know he’d found a nice, isolated spot you could all go to, but you didn’t actually know where he was leading you.  

“How’d you find this place, again?”

“I stumbled into it last time I was around here.”

“You mean, stumbled upon it?”

He laughs, “no, into it. Don’t you trust my wording?”

Go figure. “I’ll decide that once we get there.”

“If, we get there. You look like you’re having a little trouble there?”

“You act as if I’m tiny.”

“If you were tiny I’d have you on my shoulder and at the place by now.”

You roll your eyes. “Okay fine I’m going faster.”

Much to your relief it wasn’t much farther. The tall grass gave way to shorter grass, gave way to dirt and pebbles. Once you lay eyes on it, you understand what Childe meant.

“These are ruins?”

“Uh huh, looks like the ruins of some kind of pavilion.”

It’s no wonder Zhongli insisted on arriving first, it looks ancient! By some miracle the roof is still in one piece, save for some holes. The same can’t be said about the beams holding it up, nor the railings, not even the floor.

Your scrutinising stops when you spot Zhongli returning to the pavilion from the opposite side.

“Hey! We’re here,” you call out to him. Childe joins in as well as you cup your mouth. “HI ZHONGLI!”

He visibly stands up straighter, his pace hastening. Once he gets closer you can even see the smile on his face.

Before you can say anything more though, your eyes zero in on, not only dirt, but a bit of blood on his clothes.

He picks up on your gaze immediately, and he’s quick to close the distance and reassure you. “I only needed to clean up after a few troublemakers, nothing more”

“Oh come onnn, there was a fight and you didn’t even wait for me?” He gestures so wildly that for a second you’re afraid Childe’s going to drop the food. “I could’ve gotten rid of them, easy.”

“There was no need.” Zhongli wipes the dust off of his gloves. “As I said they were only a few, couldn’t have taken me more than five minutes.”

Thankfully Childe knows himself well enough to put the food down. “All I’d need is one.”

“You wouldn’t have the chance to lay a finger on any of them before I’d have them all dealt with.”

“You just said it took you five minutes!”

“Well with you around, I’d have to be swift, lest anything happen to the both of you.”

Childe groans at that, “yeah, yeah, whatever you old hen.”

You smile fondly at their exchange. Too often does Childe get himself riled up for a non-existent battle, which leaves you and Zhongli to pull him back down.

With that out of the way, you find your eyes wandering the ruined pavilion. It must have been beautiful in its full glory. It’s big, maybe even rivaling the one in Liyue. There’s way more space here than needed for a three person meal. Under closer inspection, faded paint and eroded engravings leave you wondering, what was such a grand pavilion doing all the way out here?

However that’s just another quirk of being with the two of them. If you and Zhongli have to pull Childe out of fights, you and Childe have to pull Zhongli back to earth. It’s reasonable to believe that he has a connection to this place, somewhere in his ancient memory. You understand how bitter it must feel to outlast these things that he holds dear, but a part of you fears that he may fall too deep in his ache for the past.

“Over here please.” You’re pulled out of your thoughts when Zhongli beckons you over to him.

He has cleared the center from any dust. What you didn’t realise is that he’d set up a big mat on the ground.

“Aw man, I have to eat with chopsticks on the floor too?!”

You laugh at that, your voice mingling with Zhongli’s low chuckle. “Oh don’t worry Childe, you’ll get the hang of it someday.”

“And you’re always right, aren’t you.”

“Only as often as when you’re wrong. Which happens to be a lot.”

“Hey!” Childe makes the mistake of turning to Zhongli, who merely shrugs with a smile. “Oh the two of you are just-” his complaints turn to mumbles under his breath. You both know he isn’t actually upset by your teasing though.

After you all settle down, you fall into a comfortable silence while you eat.

Zhongli is sitting as proper as always, which really makes Childe’s slouch look worse than usual. He can’t help it though, he’s too focused on trying to pick up any food at all with his chopsticks.

While you’re watching him struggle, you hear something shift, loudly.

It seems Zhongli heard it too, as his gaze snaps up to the roof. You can’t help but shiver when his eyes glow gold.

That’s when it happens, one of the pillars crumbles, leaving the roof to free fall onto the three of you.

You and Childe both leap, trying to shield the other. The only thing you do manage to do though is bump your head with his. Thankfully for the two of you, Zhongli shoots up to materialise a stone pillar to support the roof before it can fall.

“Are you alright?!” Your voices mix together all at the same time. After a stunned pause, you all laugh in relief.

“I knew this place was old, but not that old!”

Zhongli nods. “It may not be the oldest, but it’s definitely been a victim of time.”

After making sure the other two (and yourself) were okay, you look down at your plates.

“Aww, some of the debris got in the food.”

Your lovers look down as well, both frowning.

“Well,” Childe puts down his chopsticks with too much glee, “that was nice while it lasted.”

1. Tricky question, but as much as I'm charmed by the ocean's mysteries, the space holds a special place in my heart ^^ Also I'm listening to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds so it kinda speaks for itself wahhaha but... It's timeless worlds we know nothing of, maybe worlds ruled by otherwordly creatures that are so similiar yet the same as mankind... Welp I could go on and on about my love for space for long hours teehee

55: what’s the most dramatic thing you’ve ever done to prove a point?

Anyone who knows me will know that my default mode is being chill, but by god am I dramatic. I once wanted to prove to my friends that this fruit that we eat exists dang it (they wouldn’t believe me asdfghj) and marched towards the school garden.

It didn’t have fruit yet and our plant here in our house had nothing yet, so I told them to search it because they were totally ganging up on me because they believed I was joking.

Few months afterwards, our plant bore fruit and I literally sent them a video illustrating the fact that a Malunggay/Horse Radish in fact, does exist.

56: what are some things you find endearing in people?

Their smiles when they talk about their favorite things. While sometimes I don’t understand what they’re talking about, I do love seeing people happy. It makes me happy as well :D

57: go listen to bohemian rhapsody. how did it make you feel? did you dramatically reenact the lyrics?

Buddy. I’m one of those people who can sing the whole song off the top of my head, guitar riff and all. I always get pumped up because that’s a hype song especially the “so YOU THINK YOU--” part. Also dramatically reenacting everything is part of the song. I air guitar that guitar riff, man.

58: who’s the wine mom and who’s the vodka aunt in your group of friends? why?

Oh god. Wine mom is definitely this person I will hide by M, because she is totally a mom. And loves wine because beer is so disgusting (and wine is sophisticated. Fits her.)

Vodka Aunt is either is S. She has downed alcohol before, but it’s the attitude that brings it out. I think her default is capable drunk WAHAHAH

59: what’s your favorite myth?

My fave myth is the one I still respect till this day. It’s the belief that “engkanto”  or the spirits around in the environment co-exist with you, and nature is their home. So, when you go around, you say “excuse me” beacuse it’s their home and you’re signalling them that you’re passing through.

60: do you like poetry? what are some of your faves?

I love writing poetry more than reading it, to be honest. Though, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet-- Benvolio’s lines have a special place in my heart.

Oh! Also the one about the Trees by Joyce Kilmer! I can recite that word by word because I really love that poem. As well as that weird poem about English being wonky. I don’t remember what it was but the pronunciations make the poem really creative.

61: what’s the stupidest gift you’ve ever given? the stupidest one you’ve ever received?

Is making flower bracelets for someone stupid? I like making them with this plant called santan. Or this paper airplane I make with the smallest paper I could.

Stupidest one I’ve ever received? Would it be annoying to say I love gifts, no matter how weird they are? It makes me feel happy no matter what. But I guess the one wallet I received (knock-off, obviously) that had every bad grammar written on it WAHHAHA

Reflection of an Academic Fellow

From a little boy who was living in a remote area (Tonle Sap Lake) that left home for 10 years, I struggled to survive in a pagoda without clear goal until I graduated high school and went to university in Siem Reap. I had fulfilled my dream. About 9 years ago, a teacher told me the greatness and prosperity of the United States that made me dream to be there

 I remembered that I told people that I will study in the United States once day, no matter how short or long. Many people laughed and told me it was impossible. But now, a boy who only spoke about this made his dream come true through YSEALI. It was really incredible. This experience made me realize that everything is possible if you follow your dreams, do not give them up and do not be afraid of them. On the other hand, YSEALI gave me the skills to be a young influential leader in Cambodia. That's what I've been wanting to be all my life.

Omaha Nebraska and University Omaha Nebraska Omaha Nebraska and University Omaha Nebraska is really nice. The people are amazing, kind, hard-working and lovely. It's a quiet State which has some scenic scenery, especially the streets and parks. UNO is my dream school because I’m a quiet person. I loved everything there. Community engagement centers are also one of my favorite places to go to there because it’s a space for research and consultations for those who have innovative projects.

I attended a few classes with other fellows in the second week. It's so wonderful to see how classes look like in the United States. I remembered as we entered an international class we got lots of welcomes. Each of us shared about our countries. It was exciting, because I felt as though I were a president representing a country.

Program schedule

It was unbelievable how well-prepared the program was. We didn't feel pressured or bored. In addition to the classrooms, they made tours to many places such as the downtown, Gallup Center, Zoo, MICAH house, State Capitol etc. We were welcomed and given a tour around the places. Our excitement to see and explore America as much as possible was our dream, so we felt very excited every time we went to places. I remember when I was looking for a place to study and found the MICAH House, a non-governmental organization that supports families and children. Wow! I had a great time because it looks like my workplace in Cambodia. I got the opportunity to get some work done there.

 Food, Accommodation and Weather

For food, it was a bit problem for me. Did you know? It was the first time in my life that I had meals without rice. It was ridiculous that I and some other friends had to look and ask each another about rice in the first week. Thankfully we bought a lot of rice in the second week. Well, things really changed me because I started to like the food there at the last week of program. I liked beef and cheese lasagna. It was really delicious. My stay was so good, thanks to UNO organizers for accommodating us at such a great location. I have a private room, my own personal dining area and a personal kitchen.

Home stay

Lynne and Paul gave me so much warmth. In fact, I met Lynne a couple of times previously and she always complimented the Cambodian people and said that the country was beautiful. She often called me "son" and asked me to study there. We talked a lot back then and I told her that I will visit her house on Khmer New Year if it was possible. A couple days later I heard that I would stay with one family. Wahhaha it was very special because the family I was going with was Lynne's family!

Paul and lynne made dinner for me and we talked a lot till late. The next day Lynne took us to national museum, then we went to buy some vegetables. I made a beef Loklak and Patrisa, my sister who from Philippines (another Fellow) made soup. On the last day, Lynne took us to a Vietnamese restaurant and she offered to get me a haircut because it was Cambodia's new year before she sent us off. I really enjoyed staying with this family. It felt the warmth as though it was with my real family. Lynne is so good she spends her time with two dogs and feed her birds every morning. I really miss this family so much.

 Young ASEAN

Since I was the only Cambodian around I could not even use Cambodian language. But friends from ASEAN I made there made it feel like I wasn't alone. They love to share and stick together as a family. It thinks this program not only teaches us about America, but it also made us learn about who we are as the youth from ASEAN. The fellows from Southeast Asia are awesome and I believe they will become great leaders in their own countries.
