TWNG 2- Squealing is not a form of communication.
<<<Part 1 Part 3>>>
Tumblr media
Your very first day at Beacon Hills high school was an absolute blast, you had found yourself making loads of friends. All of your classes were no match for your level of intelligence and you felt at home... everything fell into place.
You sighed, your head falling into your hands. That would have been the perfect scenario, if only life was that easy.
In reality you were still sat outside on the hard concrete steps that lead up to the prison walls an hour after your father Derek Hale had dropped you off. What if you just...ran? What if you just ran and hid somewhere until it was time to go home. Pffft. Home if that’s what you call it.
You jumped up from the stairs, mentally applauding yourself for the genius plan you had just conjured up in your brain. Relief washed over you as you waltzed further away from the school but a familiar voice and endless panting stopped your legs from moving any further.
“God, I really am unhealthy for a girl that’s supposed to be half wolf half coyote, I’m so out of shape”the voice started to get closer to you as you pivoted to face the owner.
“So this morning I woke up and I was late for school- the girl continued.
“Nothing’s changed then”you interrupted whilst snorting, watching the brown haired female practically throw her bike on the floor.
“-and...wait I’m not finished, I walked down into my kitchen to see Derek Hale sat at the table with my parents and I was just wondering when my favourite cousin was going to tell me that she was moving to town?”she spoke out to you, lifting her finger to stop you from interrupting a hint of curiosity lingered in her words.
Phoebe McCall stood in front of you, her bike in which she’d owned for an eternity lay down next to her ankles the wheels still spinning from her previous bike ride to school. Her brown hair was curled perfectly even after blowing in the wind for ten minutes straight and her lipgloss almost blinded you.
She definitely looked like her mother Malia, but you could tell she was a McCall with her dark hair and slightly tanned skin.
“Surprise?”you offered, opening your arms inviting her in for a reunion hug. Phoebe stood unimpressed for a second however her mood switched instantly and she grinned squealing loudly as she jumped into your arms wrapping her legs around you tightly.
You began to choke for air when you realised that she was mumbling something in between her squeals of excitement. You rolled your eyes, still sporting the same sweet smile.
“Phoebe, squealing is not a form of communication”you laughed as she brushed herself down in front of you. She inhaled and then exhaled, composing herself.
“I- am so happy you’re here, my favourite person now literally lives a couple of minutes away and now we go to the same schooool and oh my this is going to be so fun”your cousin yelled aggressively, pulling you over to her bike.
She stopped for a second, becoming oddly silent after her outburst of energy. Her head fell at an angle and she narrowed her brown eyes at you.
“Wait, what are you doing here?”she asked inquisitively.
“You tell me, I mean I don’t actually know Pheebs we just of- uhhh packed up and left”you rubbed the back of your neck awkwardly.
She could tell that you weren’t lying, from the way your heart was beating and the look of absolute cluelessness on your face told her all she needed to know. Phoebe looked as if she was in deep thought for a second before biting her lip, addressing you once more.
“That’s very interesting”she hummed before pulling you towards the school. Well, apparently you weren’t skipping school today.
“Puberty did right by you, you got hot y/n”Phoebe said innocently as she lead you towards the double doors after locking up her bike.
You started to choke suddenly, furrowing your eyebrows at your cousin who was facing straight forwards.
“T-Thankyou I think?”you answered back slowly.
“I’m going to show you around this circus of a school, just stick with me”Phoebe gripped onto your hand, dragging you towards the unknown.
Thankfully and surprisingly the corridors were empty, but you figured they wouldn’t stay like that for long. The corridors of Beacon Hills high looked almost identical to how it did in the pictures your father had shown you well apart from the buildings that had to be re-structured after certain happenings.
As a child your mom Braeden and your father would often tell you stories about their adventures and battles they’d had when they were your current age. Each tale was always filled with action, danger and excitement. It was sometimes hard to believe that your parents got up to that sort of mischief when all you’d ever lived was a normal life.
Sure you were a werewolf but that was ordinary for you. It was all you had ever known. Nothing drastically exciting or dangerous had ever happened to you, probably due to your father’s over protective tendencies.
“Since we are in fact - oh would you look at that we’re over an hour late why don’t we just scrap going to class all together, we can get you a timetable and I can give you a tour of the school”Phoebe cringed as she looked down at her watch, nodding to herself as if she was informing herself of those plans instead of you.
“Uh okay su-
“Brilliant”she chirped happily, continuing to pull you down the deserted hall. After you had recieved your timetable the two of you paused for a moment so that you could compare classes. Noting that you had gym, english and math with Phoebe.
Phoebe snatched the piece of paper out of your hands, which resulted in you hissing out in pain due to the paper cut you had recieved in the process.
“Quit whining you’ll heal”Phoebe muttered under her breath as she scanned your schedule.
“Y’know- she peered up at you for a second a small smile appearing on her face - I’m really not surprised that you’re taking double art lessons this year”she laughed to herself lightly remembering that you loved drawing and being creative. The two of you would drive your parents crazy, painting the walls with your claws instead of the paper you were given.
You nodded over at her as she handed you your schedule back.
“Oh, I almost forgot I should probably show you to your locker aswell, luckily it’s on the same floor as mine”Phoebe tugged at your arm eager to show you everything. You and Phoebe approached the second floor lockers and you started to feel uneasy, in your stomach a storm was brewing.
Your eyes scanned the empty corridor, setting on the janitor who was lurking around outside of what you presumed was the science labs. You narrowed your eyes as the janitor froze on the spot, watching you intently.
Phoebe’s head snapped in your direction and she stopped fumbling around with the combination to your locker.
“Y/n, why is your heart doing that?”she leant forwards, lowering her tone.
“Pheebs, do you get a weird vibe from the janitor?”you asked, your eyes still trained on the man who was currently pushing his maintenance trolley towards you.
Phoebe then moved her eyes in the direction yours were. The janitors eyes widened, noticing the two of you watching him. He quickly spun his trolley around disappearing in the opposite direction.
“I mean, it’s the janitor everyone thinks he’s weird”she shrugged it off. She had a point, but that still didn’t stop your stomach from flipping upside down with dread.
“Do you not feel that though?”you mumbled as you turned back to face your cousin.
“Feel what?”her eyes sparked with curiosity.
“Y/n is everything okay?”Phoebe’s voice became a background noise as your wolf hearing began to involuntarily tune in on the conversations coming from the end of the hall.
In fact you could hear every conversation that was taking place in the whole school.
You dropped your new books to the ground as you reached up to clamp your hands over your ears, groaning out in pain.
Phoebe’s arms wrapped around your shoulders as she guided you towards the girls bathrooms.
“You’re wolfing out y/n”she whispered with widened eyes.
“I-I can’t stay in here I’ll tear this place apart Phoebe”you warned as you clutched your arm, trying to distract yourself from the endless noises you were hearing.
Scott McCall’s daughter hesitated for a second before nodding to herself.
“I know where I can take you”she put her arms carefully around you once again. It was like you were zombified and your feelings were just taking over your body. Phoebe guided you towards a set of black double doors, she swung them open before leading you into a quad like space.
You were sure that your eyes had returned to their yellow form because Phoebe quickly sat you down in the corner of the room kneeling in front of you. Your eyes flickered around the room, there weren’t many people in the area but there were a couple of teens lounging around.
“My eyes, what if they see”you shielding your eyes by holding your head tightly in your hands.
“It’s okay, you can do that here”she reassured you.
After minutes of panicking your eyes changed back and you sat still, panting from your previous episode. You came to and suddenly your cheeks started to heat up with embarrassment. This would have been the perfect time for you to run and hide but you didn’t have the energy.
“W-what do you mean I can do that here, does everyone in Beacon Hills know about us?”you asked in hushed tones.
“No, but everyone in this room is supernatural, this is kinda where we hang out to keep away from the humans”Phoebe informed you.
Your pupils lifted, meeting a pair of dull green ones. It was almost as if he was staring into your soul and you promptly looked away, ashamed by what had just happened. The boy smirked to himself before turning his attention elsewhere. It was your first day and you’d already freaked out in front of people.
Phoebe watched as you dropped your head slightly, staring off at the floor.
“Show is over people”Phoebe shouted, clapping her hands together firmly. Snapping at everyone who was staring. Everyone quickly went back to what they were doing however you could still feel two pairs of eyes staring intently at you.
“Are we gonna talk about what just happened I mean it’s not even a full moon for another month yet”Phoebe enquired sympathetically.
“I don’t really wanna talk about it”you sighed to yourself. Phoebe hummed in response before grabbing your hand, dragging you across the room to a group of teenagers your age sat in the opposite corner of the room.
