the first dark souls was my initial exposure to the series as a whole! I got into it some years ago but I don’t think I was as invested in it then as I am now. I’ve always loved the themes of the series and the gameplay was, despite all the frustration, very fun and engaging so I wanted to check out more souls games after it. Dsi remains my favourite game of all time along with bloodborne btw! I would blame it on nostalgia but honestly the game really does have so much to offer. dark souls i meatriding is very cliche but there’s a good reason for that yk. Nothing teaches you patience like dark souls. (this game also has one of my two favourite characters of all time, gwyndolin! they managed to create a transgender allegory that speaks so closely to me- from familial expectations to the desire to be seen and recognised by the family that constantly neglects you and shames you for your very existence to the point where your identity ceases to exist because you are trying so desperately to belong. you try to forge yourself into the perfect shape but the core of the problem lies not in the shape of your identity, but your very existence. the unending cultist devotion to the people who made your life hell because this is all you have. I love gwyndolin so much)

I moved to dark souls ii after and honestly loved it (and still love it) very much. I feel like people give it too much shit and criticise it too quickly because of its reputation, which is a shame because it has so much to offer. The lore is so rich and the gameplay can get so fun if you just give it a chance. I agree that the start is difficult, but isn’t this true with every new fromsoft game you play? The thing I really love about soulsborne games is that there is a learning curve. Absolutely anybody can finish these games even if they are a terrible gamer because of the fact there is a learning curve. And sure it’s a frustrating one a lot of the time, but when you get comfortable enough with the mechanics and become more confident in playing, the experience becomes so so fun and rewarding. The estus problems people always complain about at the beginning of the game honestly stop being a noticeable issue after you discover items that help you replace this bother. I can 100% see why somebody would dislike dsii because it unfortunately went through developement hell, but I do believe that 98% of the time people judge this game too quickly and too harshly just because of the negative reputation it has. It sucks that they don’t give it a chance. I’ve seen so many people have an opinion on it (always a bleak one) without even playing it themselves also which is so dumb. At least play it man. Idk. It gets the second-installation-in-a-series curse I guess. dsii fans need to stick together and call it the best game oat to piss everyone else off

i got into bloodborne after dsi and dsii, i think I started playing bloodborne in mid 2021? Not that long ago but it has been my absolute favourite thing in the world ever since. SO much about it has kept me around because it manages to cater to so many of my general special interests lol. I’ve always loved cosmic horror and the victorian era of medicine. religion (and how those in power can use religion to control the masses) is another thing i always end up getting fixated on, so bloodborne was just the perfect thing for me. I love the themes! And characters! And designs! And gameplay mechanics! The world building! Everything is so so good. The thing that has mainly kept me around so intensely is how important exploration and personal interpretation is with this game. this is honestly my favourite thing about all spulsborne games actually- fromsoft never gives you any direct answers, and we are still finding new things about bloodborne several years after its release which is insane. It has just an endless amount of things to offer, I can’t say ENOUGH about it. I could write pages upon pages on why I love bloodborne so much, it’s difficult to keep my answer here concise. All I can say is it consumes my every thought every second of the day. Very good.

Dsiii was the last soulsborne game i got into (not fromsoft tho, that was elden ring, which i somehow only got into on august of 2023) i love dsiii because i love the dark souls series so so much in general, but for some reason it’s my least favourite out of all spulsborne games. The story and bosses are all super cool and i loved the conclusion it provided for the series, but it’s the one i find the least entertaining? or not the least entertaining, but it’s the one I think about the least. maybe it’s because i still kind of experience it as a. second version of bloodborne since i played bloodborne before ds3 lol. which is an unfair judgement but I can’t let go of that feeling it gives me for some reason. great game but I end up fixating more on the others fsr

navlaan is my favourite character in ds2 also! i love a little fucked up sorcerer. I need more grey thinking. good and bad mean nothing in the name of acquiring knowledge. nuance is required to understand navlaan and its why I often avoid reading stuff about him lol.

[ OOC: YESSIR i love yapping abt writing omg hi. okay. while im not exactly a Proper rp blog, i still have written a fuckton of rp since i was like . 12. so!

roleplay is far different from writing a fic or a novel or a oneshot or anything because you have to consider the other party involved. you gotta develop a rhythm and learn to entwine what their characters doing with yours, if that makes sense.

tone + connotations + synonyms are like. key shit. pacing as well but. being able to Become the character to understand them (without glorifying their actions (NUANNNCE)) is essential. you gotta talk like they talk, think like they think, while also being aware of Why they do it. i recommend just analysing them with others bc it really does help to put shit into perspective

ive literally yapped about the authenticity behind writing a stutter / stammer into dialogue before

LEARN SYNONYMS !!!! (i highly recommend word hippo.) but the other side to learning synonyms is choosing the right one, which leans into what i said about tone being important.

you gotta think twice about how people will interpret the connotations of a certain descriptive word, like. theres a difference between an eye twitch and squinting. eye twitch = uh oh this isnt good / pissed off / offended. (in most q cases) and a squint leads to disbelief or interest, depending on the tone and situation. i hope im . making a single fucking lick of sense HELVKSJSVH OKAY

using "and" to push sentences into an active run-on state is also fun :3 "and he's grinning, all puffed up and brimming with pride" versus "he's grinning, all puffed up and brimming with pride" has a slight yet useful difference. one's a little more energetic ykwim, thats tone!!!

ANYWAY. being able to swerve through variations and understand context, the ability to involve the other party without controlling their character (reactions!!! reactions to what they do is Epic), and being able to supply an internal monologue—

— is also another fun little thing to throw into your writing. idk!

um. i love analysing writing and giving reason behind every single piece of dialogue, action or internal thought, and. being able to understand a character in that way is both delightfully fun but improves ur writing a shitload. idk if im the best giver of advice but i Hope any of this can be helpful in some sense

Time to yap about Nezha 2 so I can get this out of my chest.

If anything, if it's in theater anywhere you can go to, please go watch it. Also hopefully you can fine it in IMAX.

It really is a movie that deserve to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Let start with the non spoiler yap. will just go through a review of each aspects.

Visual - The best take on this I heard from one Thai reviewer on youtube. Bro was like "So this is the highest grossing animated movie. I set my expectation high. I go in expecting 100 and the movie gave me a million"

Yes. It's that big. and not just big. It's big and beautiful. There are so many wallpaper worthy shots. Not just wall paper on the pc screen. I would put them on my whole wall if can. The composition camera works, colors are all spectacles to be hold.

Fight scenes are extremely creative. Like I remember how honest trailer made fun of marvel about 90% of the fights are punching. Well, welcome to the world of Chinese martial arts. Every fight is so fun to watch.

Music - Great. gave me chill in a lot of places and just build the epicness. Not Pacific Rim level of iconic, but I will be looking for a lot of these music. Sound design is also amazing. It's immersive. I kind of got lost in it so I don't actually have much to say.

Story - This will actually knocks you out of the park. I kind of did not expected this. While base on the Ne Zha mythology, it doesn't matter at all if you never heard of him, might even be more raw. They also changed a whole lot from the original tale (all versions. This one is new and reconstructed in nearly all areas while still keeping key points in a new interpretation)

family theme very prevalent and extremely well executed. (All the dads are not only really hot but also good dads. The mom still steal the moment)

All the epicness of the visuals are also earned. It actually get really heavy at many points. They didn't shy away from dark themes what so ever.

The one cons is probably that it is rather long. With the first half being kind of slow. Nothing is really wasted on nothing, but I personally would shave a bit of the jokes and the longer early mission stuff.

Also Chinese sense of humor can be a bit...um.......... ...eh. At least they didn't swell on it that long.

And then the lock the fuck in and will blow you out of the water with how raw it is.

Recommendation. Find the first movie. watch it. (The first one also made good money, if you can't fine streaming or DVD then , by all means. Someone post it on Youtube and Bilibili)

Then you recognize that one specific little girl and it will hurt that much more.

Where to even start with this...

I can't actually articulate my thoughts so uh....

let's yap a bit about characters.

One of my weak point against Chinese media is I can't remember characters' names. So with animation, it helps a bit since at least I will remember their looks. But Nezha has some how made me remember most characters even their names.

The most devastating details is how they made sure the towns people got their share of screen time. Even better if you watch the first one, then you might remember that one little girl Nezha's saved, and the group of kids who tried to bully him.

Then we see they all die. We see their charred bodies. So no this movie pulled no punches. It will fucked you up real good.

so that's for the supporting characters. Now the main characters.

Everyone keeps talking about the dads. And yeah, the dads are great. (and hot af. Dragon dad especially, but jaguar dad got me. He doesn't have a huge role, mostly cool af fight scene and then something happen and the consequences started the whole second half which, holy shit.)

But for me Nezha's mom is the MVP. The lady of the year. idk man, ppl yapping about strong female character this, girl boss that. And it's all stupid and shallow in the face of the expression of love from Lady Yin.

Okay, picture this. So this kid, this super powered demon incarnated 3 year old kid was being asked to give up his life for his parents. This was asked, infront of his own parents!!

So his mom was taking none of that shit, and they were left to die. So Nezha started crying, because he thought that he has created so much trouble for his parents, that he wanted to die to repay his parents. So his mom hugged him/

Now, right now Nezha was under this piercing spell that cause thousands of needle piercing out of his body so he couldn't move. And obviously, you can't hug him cuz then you get pierced by the needles. (earlier Ao bing's dad went to hug his son and had to back off because it was painful to touch his son. That was the dragon king and he still didn't hug his son here.)

This woman fucking hugged her son, needles and all, to tell him she loved him and that all the years she had him was joyful. so yeah. I bowled my eyes out here too. And then she was gone. So Nezha proceed to let himself be sliced to shred by those needles so he can get out and fucked up the one who did this to his mom. (This is also probably a reinterpretation of a famous event in the myth. At one point Nezha had to pay for killing the dragon prince, so he "carved out his flesh to return to his mother and dismember his bone to return to his father" before he got his new body. Here he let the spell tore his body to shred, then rebuild it to fully gaining his new body)

Yeah if that wasn't raw as fuck I don't know what is. Everything, every feeling is so personal and raw. Your family being at stake is all upfront. The betrayal? they fucking hit my family. Consequence of the betrayal? THEY HURT MY FUCKING FAMILY!!!! ( also Ao Guang "how is my son? is my son alive" Dragon king. Shit happened left and right, this man will asked about his son first)

And then after that, the final battle. While the battle is so so so big. (like fucking Avengers Endgame big). It still manage to be personal.

Because I realized that every single demon in the cauldron was about to die. They all had to fight for their lives. Every single one of those demons were oppressed and were being killed. They weren't even fighting for any others. But for themselves.

So yeah. um...Visuals being epic af aside. I just find the emotions so raw it's quite refreshing. Since, tbh, movies and animation field right now is a bit annoying. The new pixar alien animation looks pretty but I'm not a fan of that style of character design TTvTT. (And yes thank fucking god we have Sonic to look forward too and be normal about.)

I can't, I wanted to finish coloring everyone first, but. I just can't NOT yap about at least one of them. So um. Matsu. He's my favorite I think?

(his necklace and nail polish are the colors of the unit members! I haven't come up with a unit name yet tho,,)

On the left there is Toshiro's (they/he) hand (they're the unit's leader) and on the right is Fumi (she/they) (who's kinda Matsu's friend from middle school)

I love him soooooo much, I may have projected onto him a little with the whole sea autism thing but uhm. I'm not going to give any of them canon labels (except for pronouns) (I want it to be kinda like pjsk itself, but I also just want to be able to play around with ships and their identities), but!!! More about Matsu. Despite not REALLY giving him any labels, he's very much intended to be autistic. He's insane abt marine life (the projecting part lmao) and especially sharks and ESPECIALLY thresher sharks (which is the shark I doodled there beside him with uh other stuff!). Currently he's geberally pretty cheerful and excitable, actually never shuts up, he starts talking and then it's just. Forever. (Not neg I love him so so so so much). He used to kinda get bullied in middle school and Fumi was a very timid child back then and was afraid she'd also get bullied, so she just coudknr bring herself to help, and she kinda blames herself for that right now, she grew to be very confrontational and a bit overprotective of Matsu, and I have like a whole part of the story planned about them coming to terms with everything and learning to not treat Matsu almost as a child as they kinda tenda to do, and I just love these two so much. Am I making sense? Idk this is just a stream of whatever I have going on). By the way!!! The fourth character Seina (she/her) who's completely out of frame in this cropped pic usually keeps Fumi's confrontational and slightly aggressive nature in check, she's overall very caring BUT of course I put some sad story there ue ue whatever (not whatever, I'm insane about her, but I'll talk about Seina more when I finish her part of the reference).

I haven't thought THAT much about these guys' relationships with canon characters, but since we're on the topic of Matsu (are we?? idk at this pojnt), I think at some point he met Emu and they got along pretty well! Maybe even became friends!!! I think they match each other's energy pretty well, even if with all his excitableness (is that a word in english idk) Matsu is still calmer than her, they definitely have some autism to autism comunication going on. Oh!!! Also. I started thinking about the characters' habits and quirks, and I think Matsu would make EXCESSIVE eye contact. This is partially from the impact left not only by ppl bullying him, but just yknow ppl around him as he was growing up. He's learning to be comfortable with not restricting himself around his friends, but *because* he learned that it's pretty much one of the only ways to at least somewhat fit in growing up, it's hard for him. But they care about each other so so so much and I love them. I just started talking about everyone somewhere along the uhh this whole ramble, so Toshiro!!! I haven't said much about them yet. They're actually partially inspired by my super cool and awesome aunt in some aspects of appearance and behavior, but I still piled a bunch of my own stuff to not just copy a real person,,,, anyways. He's the group leader, he pretty much brought everyone together? They all kinda had some sort of connection to each other previously to forming the unit, but uh. I haven't come up with exactly *how* they're gonna end up as a. Group? Band? Ehatever they are. I think I focused way more on their personalities so far, woops. But I'll get there eventually. Anyways. Right, Toshiro. I haven't developed them as much YET, but geneeal appearance stuff: they have vitiligo, pink-ish hair? Overall mostly a pink colorscheme (they're all color-coded yay). He's pretty into crystals and spirituality in general, also has some physical stuff going on (but I haven't exactly figured out what yet), he can't do a lot of physical activity, has kinda weak bones (Seina helps him out a lot when he needs it!!!), Toshiro is overall pretty energetic and tries his best in everything, tho tends to overwork himself a lot bc he's dead set on getting better at everything and making people around him proud and just being reliable. I also plan on expanding on this in the later story, I think so far the themes I put in their unit have a lot to do with letting go of the past (they ALL have that in common), not letting others' expectations ruin you, accepting yourself, all that. I was kinda worried they were walking too close to N25 at first, but I think it's all good actually, esp when I later expand on their story,,,, oh right also Seina. I think she's my second favorite, she's. I love her. ik I said I'm bot giving them any canon labels, but Seina and Fumi are so lesbians and so I love to me. And also I get arospec vibes from Seina BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT I SHOUDL BE TALKING ABOUT. She's kinds the mom friend of the group, always taking care of everyone. As i mentioned, she helps Toshiro with physical tasks when he needs it, keeps Funi out of trouble and also helps Matsu in socially overwhelming situations MY CAT JUST FELL OH MY GOD ok ok she's okay, anyways. But Seina had "failed" to helo a friend in the past, so now she's a bit obsessed with being helpful to everyone as much as she possibly could, or else she feels useless and worthless. And guess what I also plan a whole arc expanding on it and eventually the other members comfort her and they all work on it and the others try to also take care of her, and of course it takes a lot of time, but I like the idea of her uhh healing? Development idk, THIS bring shown slowly and over time. Okay. I think I finished yapping *for now*
