i believe this is because:

all the holy quintet girls (sans nagisa, but she is also on the table but less likely) have gotten a new lim unit this year except sayaka, so she’s up for one

sayaka already has a haregi unit so she can’t be the new years lim, leaving christmas as her only chance

nutcracker themed event would be fun AND would fit amazingly with sayaka’s prince/hero aesthetic she has going on

She had decided to visit Kanade in the hospital, after getting a panicked phone call from Mizuki and Ena calling for help. "Good evening, how may I help you?" The woman at the register spoke, typing on a clanky keyboard and staring at Mafuyu. Fear sunk in her stomach, Kanade had gone several days without eating again, or so said Mizuki and Ena. "I'm here to visit," Mafuyu's words were cold, she had a habit of closing off when her emotions washed over her like a wave out of control. "You must be here for Miss Yoisaki, then, right away. Room 102," The woman pointed in the direction of the hallway, giving Mafuyu a cheery smile. Mafuyu wished she could wrap her hands around her throat, how could someone be so cheerful working in a place like this? As Mafuyu entered the room, she felt a pang in her chest. For years now, with everything going on with her mother and the expectations, she assumed she didn't have a heart; medically, of course yes, but emotionally, she thought she had cut ties with that part of herself. However, seeing Kanade, tubes attached to every inch of skin that peeked out of her dotted nightgown, she realized otherwise. She was frail, her hair thinning. A doctor, presumably by his appearance stood in the corner of the room with a clipboard. "You must be Miss Asahina," He said. "She's not doing too well, as you might have guessed," He stepped towards her bed. "She's got a failing kidney, and several permanent damages to her organs, we're trying to help but--" He cut himself off, and stared at the floor. "She's going to be alright, right? Mafuyu asked, though she knew the answer already. She had been forced on multiple occasions to study medical conditions, coerced by her mother, even if it was against her wishes. Silence. "Kanade?" Mafuyu stepped right beside her bed, staring at an asleep Kanade. The room was completely silent, besides the slow beeping of the monitor beside her. Kanade weakly opened her eyes, and returned Mafu's gaze. "Mafuyu, you came, I'm glad," She croaked, giving her a weak smile. "Of course I came, Kanade, I.." Mafuyu fiddled with her thumbs and let the silence fall over them once more. "I lost track of time, my father is here too... Honami stopped checking on me after a while, I think she's on tour..." Though she was clearly trying to make conversation, it didn't sooth Mafu at all. "Kanade, there's... we've barely spoken, you'll be alright, they'll save you, and, we'll make songs together, and..." ... "Kanade?" "Kanade!" ... A letter crumpled in her hand. She didn't cry, she couldn't, she had no energy too. I love you, Kanade. I love you, Kanade. I love you, Kanade. ill repeat some stuff ive said on my twt here but go more in depth— can yellowfell even be considered an undertale "yellow" au? cause technically it isnt. i have plans for the au to open with and feature the Kindness Soul instead. not only that, but the themes are different too

Yellow asks "what is justice?"

yellowfell asks "what is a good person?" who decides if you are? what qualifies as one? can you take a life and still be a good person? would you be qualified as good even if you simply stand by and watch something bad happen? is goodness about innocence? and what if your good intent has negative effects? where is the line drawn between kindness and "weakness"?

I find it interesting if the Kindness soul Did have the kind of naive mindset that you'd expect from a child. "good things happen to good people, bad things happen to bad people." this is especially interesting if i add in the fact their Falling Down was not an accident, but rather a betrayal. so what does that say about them?

as they traverse the underground, those beliefs get challenged and they are forced to Make A Choice. they do what they think is right in their mind, what they think is kindness, what they believe to be mercy

no matter what route they choose, they're doomed. but its not as if their efforts will completely be in vain. in the end, whether it was good or bad ones, their choices mattered. their choices are a step towards the future; an uncertain one, but a future nonetheless. now its up to the Ones Who Remain to decide if they want to fall into despair or hold out Hope.

omfggg jake your critique on the omori manga was SO GOOD i agree with everything. i read it on twt bc the platform it was officially released on isn't available in my country and i was like 😦❓️warning long ass yap ahead, you don't have to reply to this AKDKSKD i just wanted to say ur post hit all the points i was thinking of as well

i was sososo excited for the manga when it was announced, and now that i read it im kinda like. Hm. the art style is gorgeous, but 100% agreed on the way they depicted the characters in the real world because they look so young 😭 like wtf aubrey is supposed to look intimidating when the player first meets her [as a stark contrast to her headspace personality] but then she lirerally looks 12 (like you said) 💀 also this might just be a me thing but i always imagined that sunny would be very expressionless in the real world until the end of the game, like how he has the neutral sprite the entire time until he finally looks scared in the basil fight & cries in the hidden ending cutscene. but the sunny in the manga feels so grounded and human (which might sound like an insane thing to say but hear me out), which i feel kinda undermines the fact that he's disassociating like 99% of the time and also has not been outside + talked to ppl in literal years. it deadass looks like him and kel going out is a regular occurrence for him 🕴

AND THE PACING AUGHHSKWKKDA IT MAKES ME SO MAD 😭😭😭 the entire first chapter is so disorganised and clunky it makes zero sense unless you have alrdy played the entire game. i kept rereading bc it felt like everything was happening so fast and i was wondering if i missed panels 💀 it felt like they couldn't decide what approach the manga should take, like whether it should be a horror story or one abt friendship when the beauty of omori is that it blends both of those (in extremely nuanced ways) so seamlessly. there's like random ass jumpscare panels that don't even make sense and why the fuck is the headspace sequence at the end 😭😭😭???!(£&+(£&@(*£ that's supposed to be the prologue!!!!!!! before we meet everyone irl!!!

as for characterisation i genuinely dk wtf was going on 😭 aubrey whacking basil with the bat was so crazy i was like HUH??? and then sunny just fucking slashed her 😭⁉️ it makes them seem absolutely deranged bc there's zero context, and the whole point of sunny attacking aubrey is to show the player that it still hasn't clicked for him that he's in the real world now and he can't just use a fucking knife on people 💀 also the fact that in game it's depicted as a battle cutscene, once again showing how detached he is from reality. connecting back to my earlier point abt how he seems so grounded here, in the manga it looks like he just purposefully decided to stab aubrey when that isn't something he'd do at all?!?!?!

but okay ill shut up here, omfg im so sorry i yapped so much 💀 a Lot of thoughts abt this manga fr,,, honestly disappointed and definitely would not recommend it to fans or non-fans 😭

i also really like the artstyle, i think its very well drawn ESPECIALLY the horror elements but yeah, the style just doesn't super scream OMORI to me..... if yk what i mean 😭 AND I TOTALLY GET WHAT YOURE SAYING ABT SUNNY'S EXPRESSION. he has WAY too much emotion and i wish i thought to touch on that in my essay (lol) but seriously yeah. i'm SO glad they left him as a silent protag, but my god. to me in the game he's always been really emotionless since we literally NEVER see anything besides his sprite (unless in battle, but im not counting that rn bc its a lot different than the dialogue facecards we get for other characters) but that super duper bothered me as well IT REALLY DOES FEEL LIKE HE JUST GOES OUT WITH KEL ALL THE TIME LIKE DAWG THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE SUN HAS TOUCHED U IN 4 YEARS. BSFR

the pacing is RIDICULOUSLY clunky and weird AND YEAH ME TOO I ALSO KEPT TRYING TO GO BACK AND SEE IF I MISSED STUFF ??? like there was just so much happening on each page and it was so goddamn fast that i was literally like "whoa" YKWIM ?? like specifically that one panel i put in my post where he randomly went up to the bathroom just to open the door, see Something, and then suddenly leave but also there is barely ANY context as to why he's suddenly up at the bathroom ?? like obvi WE know bc we played that but in game the screen got all wobbly when we needed to throw up the steak but in the manga its like wtf is going on ???

ANF UAGGHGGHSB I COULD GO ON AND ON AND ON ABT THE CHARACTERIZATION BRO. the whole last few pages were absolute DOGWATER bc it literally makes them look just weirdly violent with NO context bc its exactly like you said, SUNNY DOESNT KNOW. the whole point of that first battle was to show how detached sunny is from real life. he doesn't realize that slashing her with a knife is going to have real consequences. AND THE BEST PART ABT THE GAME IS THAT NEITHER DOES THE PLAYER !!!! we forget after hours and hours of headspace (AND using sunny's knife attack as a primary damage dealer, MIGHT I ADD) HAS REAL DANGERS AND CONSEQUENCES. like theres SOOO much cool storytelling there and it's all lost on the manga bc theres just no baseline for the reader to be like whoaaaa thats WEIRD. bc my first impression upon seeing aubrey, as was most likely yours and all the other players, was WHAT THE HELL. but the ruined her in the manga. i can literally go on and on about this forever and ever

i see a lot of the same "theyre only in love because of fate/their superhero alter egos/their past" takes A Lot (to be fair its usually directed at the 90s anime, to which i do agree n understand, however ive also seen it directed at the manga which is why im talking abt it) and i just Do Not Agree, so im gonna talk abt it in a twt thread bc im insane and twt is my outlet for my insanity. (this was originally written for twt but got too long oops.)

starting with the whole "theyre only dating because of past lives" because its the easiest to debunk, its just flat out not true. mamoru n usagi never really got the chance to officially get to together pre-past lives reveal in the manga but its pretty damn clear they were going to, probably the next time they met as civilians and swapped their different keepsakes that they have from each other.

theres also the whole "oh well their feelings are remnants of silmil" which i think takes away a lot of their agency as characters and also just isnt true and is also pretty easily disprovable, usagi likes mamoru for being there for her and supporting her when she needs it, and mamoru likes usagi for being this incredibly strong heroine but also being a normal cheery girl all at the same time.

which leads me to the next point! "they only like each other because of their alter egos", two rebuttals here, they dont exactly stop being tuxedo mask/sailor moon just because theyre out of costume that is still them but i do see why this is a popular criticism. my other thing is that its definitely not true for mamoru, whos usually the one criticized for not truly liking the Real Usagi™️ and only liking her for sailor moon (or serenity but we just went over that and funnily enough this criticism should be directed more to usagi but we'll get into that later).

for this lets go back to why mamoru loves usagi, according to earlier in this post i claimed it was because of the dichotomy between her and sailor moon, the crime fighting warrior, and usagi the happy-go-lucky school girl who always brings a smile to everyones face, thus showing that he loves /all/ of her not just one side over the other.

but me saying so isnt really enough so lets hear it from the boy in question: "its true... for a long time the crystal was the only thing i wanted... but now when i see her... angry one moment then laughing the next... the crystal? no thats not what i really want... usako youre what i want" - (crystal ep 7) so... yeah thats pretty cut and dry, oh yeah nows also a good time to mention that ill be pulling stuff from crystal too because of the nature of crystal having been more closely supervised by naoko and being a stricter manga adaptation, any scenes it adds are retroactively canon to the mangaverse (at least to me, but if youre looking for a similar line from the manga: "youre strong today sailor moon, everyday i feel like im seeing a different side to you, is there other versions of you ive yet to meet? i want to know everything, who are you really?" - (chapter 8) same idea as the crystal quote just a lot more vague lol)

also this is reflected in more than just words, its actions too, tuxedo mask is a lot more closed off towards sailor moon earlier on and its not until chapter 4 that he starts being a lot more openly caring and affectionate, and you wanna know what happens in chapter 4? he finds out sailor moon is usagi, and it doesnt take a lot of media literacy to put two and two together to figure out why that shift happens there.

now for usagi, remember when i said the whole "liking the alter-egos" criticism applies to her more but is never directed at her? well heres why, we never really see her civilian relationship with mamoru develop much on her end before the reveal, she is of course attracted to mamoru but on a way more superficial level (usagis pretty notorious for her immediate, but ultimately kinda surface level crushes on people: see rei).

she denies her crush but its pretty obvious she has one, for example when mako points out that usagis blushing after one of their interactions and asks about it and she insists pretty loudly that she "doesnt like him!" but never really explains the blush (earlier in the same scene when she sees mamoru she blushes and b-dmp! is written in the bg, keep in mind he hasnt done or said anything yet so its not embarrassment) and then theres chapter 3 where she recognizes that his profile sorta looks like tuxedo mask which she'd actively try to deny if she didnt like him like she says she does, so its pretty obvious she has a crush on mamoru.

but her relationship with tuxedo mask is what gets more development, she goes from that superficial crush she has on mamoru to liking him for deeper reasons than just: pretty guy! i.e. helping her, being there for her, and grounding her when she needs it. also in the same vein as her recognizing him in chapter 3 the reveal is her just recognizing him as tuxedo mask, which obviously she has to like mamoru quite a bit to do (even if the evidence was quite literally all around her) (in saying all of this i do think pgsm does a much better job at showing her genuinely falling for all of him but pgsm also skews more towards the 90s anime in terms of characterization so i wont be using that).

and finally "usamamo are only together/feel pressured to be together because of fate/chibiusa" short answer: no. long answer: noooooooooo. no but in all seriousness this flat out isnt true, if you'll remember the first 14 chapters of the manga are kinda. yk. dedicated to this. their fate isnt to "be together" their fate is to literally DIE if they dare attempt to be together again, they are together DESPITE fate, like i dont even know how else to put it because multiple characters comment on fate repeating itself when it comes to dooming usamamo, they werent reincarnated to be together they were reincarnated to be happy and live normal peaceful lives.

as for fate as in the future, thats pretty easily disprovable because its ALSO something the manga goes over, during the dream arc when mamorus suffering from nehelennias curse he starts feeling guilty and selfish for constantly being a burden on usagi to the point he asks her if she really does want a future with him, even saying that he feels horrible for potentially tying her down to a future she might not want, which yk would kinda not be a concern he would have if he was only with her for the creation of crystal tokyo (side note: nowhere does it say usamamo NEED to be together for crystal tokyo to exist, usagi could very well rule alone like queen serenity or with any other partner, its just that the current timeline has them together in ct) as for usagis response, mamoru falls asleep before he can hear it, but she says point blank that she can change the future if she wants. So. Yeah. dont really think i need to say much more than that on that front.

And the last part of the "fate saga", "theyre only together to have chibiusa" which is such a crazy and lowkey highkey misogynistic sentiment, but for arguments sake lets take a look at why its completely wrong, first off, again. "i can change the future as much as i want" - (chapter 40) she could have chibiusa by other means (for example the way queen serenity had serenity) but also, the reason they care so much about chibiusa is because she's a product of their love, they obviouly care about her as a person but they wouldnt just force themselves to be together just to have her and her alone (if that makes sense i have no idea how to phrase what im trying to say) in any case its a really gross thing to say because it insinuates a lot of really weird things!

if you made it through all that you deserve like a medal or something but thanks for listening to my silly little thoughts about my favorite couple right now

i was checking back on the other enstars polls and saw you on the lightbrush one— actually wataei sweeped succesfully against pearlxbismuth but a ton of discourse happened in round two.

being someone who was campaigning that poll non stop, apparently they brought the drama over from twt which made both sides very heated but especially the other fandom.

personally speaking a lot of the propaganda at the start was how the other side kept saying "anime men sucks" so I refuted that when it happened, and I did acknowledge the other propaganda (although some were still using the same argument)

though yeah it was bad, i do think it was the other side's responsibility to help other people learn more about their fandom instead of saying that it was inconsiderate that we didn't know much about it alongside the propaganda for their ship.

Really sorry for the ramble here, i just have a lot of thoughts about incidents like this.

i agree with everything you just said, and i was planning to wax poetic about this, but 1) enstars grind 2) a sudden wave of drowsiness, so ill just ramble.

this poll is an outlet for fans of any of the works involved to talk endlessly about not just the ship, but the narrative, the work itself. after all, when a ship is "basically canon," its got its fucking claws deep into the themes of the story.

i think thats what we (and probably other fandoms too) have done pretty well! compiled screenshots of dialogue and imagery and all that as evidence! the passion shows, and you know the propaganda worked when one of my mutuals (who has never touched enstars btw) submitted an ask to me wondering how to get into the series' story!!! the propaganda fucking worked! my screams of agony in the reblogs fucking worked!!!

this made me appreciate the community here even more, because we were respectful, we were so fucking happy to talk about a work we enjoy so fucking much! and now im interested in the other works too! like wtf do the motherfuckers over at night the museum have going on? i dont watch any movies, but im interested in giving this series a try.

THIS is how you engage with other fandoms if you have to. it is simply just a killjoy to convert your passion into vitriol/hate for the other party. if anything, itd push people away from what you love because you left a bad impression on them! that is just not the right way to go about things!! be constructive, not destructive!

and i love how people say anime men suck, but theres literally the orv ship, soriku, narumitsu, and others that i dont remember off the top of my head. its their opinions at the end of the day, but if they draw the line at wataei, they should do the same to those other "anime men" ships too. and here i thought cringe was dead in this site.

overall, let us as a fandom be the better people here. practice some sportsmanship, spread the enstars love, and have fun!

the story and characters are not bad all this fear mongering about them being terrible is false. yes some of them are super one note, but a lot of them are great. my favs (who aren't main cast) are yunaka, goldmary, pandreo, jade, and louis. anna is also so cute in this game although i dont know how ethical it is to let her fight in the war lol. and i love the entire main cast🫶veyle, ivy, diamant especially.

i also really loved the story of the four hounds, probably some of my favourite villains of any fire emblem game tbh and maybe even all games? i was actually really excited to fight them over and over again since the game sorta presents itself as not only a war but a race to see who can get all the rings, so it actually felt like they were trying to get in your way.

the story is fairly basic and you can probably see things coming from a mile away, but the writing isnt abysmal like Another modern fire emblem game. and it did actually catch me off guard at some points which i appreciated.

overall its good i love it and ill be thinking about it for however long probably a while. i was so excited for this and it delivered 😭i was a hater when the first trailer dropped but not anymore i prommy🫶

I guess I was thinking of how SM became both a tool & a weapon to many celebrities. We can't fully step into their shoes. Integrity is something they guard- w/ privacy. Someone said how celebrities now are more exposed by SM- which takes a toll on mental health & their lifestyles- (and those who care about them). At times we only see what may be seen as "calculated"- a strategy- a vicious cycle- especially when people get cruel. Only the good (truth) die young, lies thrive (like weeds).

social media is such a nightmare and such a morass of cruelty and fabrication that if i had even the smallest level of fame, no one would ever hear from me again. i say this as someone who also cherishes sm because of it being my one outlet in the midst of illness, since it affords me my ability to connect with the world at all, and the blessing it provides me in the incredible friends i've made, and the help and comfort, knowledge and kindness, it has given me for many years as an invisible person in her room. the gulf between social media for us vs. for famous people is immense, and while they also have extraordinary privileges and wealth and resources we cannot access or even entirely calculate, which is a social imbalance, it comes with losses too. the celebrity vs. privacy, exploitation vs. art issue has always been unfortunate, if not outright tragic, since hollywood came into being. tabloids ruined lives and exposed confidentiality even back then, but now anyone with a cell phone and an imagination can snap a photo or send an anonymous tip in to a gossip account and the thought of that is terrifying. tbh we should only have to see the strategy - ie: the necessary press and marketing - and in return receive the art and accept it in an embracing and thoughtful way, but that's not the structure of the machine. we crave the personal, we seek the details, the pieces, we idolize or we tear apart based on very little. i'm guilty of this by nature of being here talking about it, you know? i enjoy learning about people and what their process is and what inspires them and what they carry and go through because that humanism reveals so much in the art and is a source of empathy and connection, but it's almost paradoxical that that's also the thing that can cause harm. they can't succeed at megawatt star levels without fans' love and interest, and yet that can turn hostile and damaging because the press and the negativity follows too. it's worn down people's mental health and well-being for decades because no one is built to live under and withstand such constant scrutiny and invasion, it's frankly a miracle anyone ever survives it and gets through somewhat intact. but that doesn't mean those who don't or can't were lacking. the testament to personal integrity and strength comes from many different individual facets. fans could help this by acting with more empathy as a whole, but sadly we see fandom devolve into fighting/bullying/intrusion consistently instead (and stan twt thrives on that mean-spiritedness for reasons beyond my comprehension), at which point the best we can do is to individually treat others with care, and approach the artists we admire with respect and compassion (and subjective boundaries) ourselves. we have to hope goodness and truth will rise to the top - and it doesn't always, but we can still try to champion it whenever possible.

since i only have 3 oomfs from twt here (n I also assume they dont go on tumblr a bunch) ill just say some of the ideas for the art of the untitled logs I been keeping on my mind for a month now 🤧

art direction wise: itll be very focused on stippling for the 'pictures' taken by the camera, since pictures look fuzzy n crunchy if you look hard enough, which will be interesting to do with a pen I gotten recently, a pilot 0.38. but for the other ways to go by the art and how it'll be done will be somewhat different. the 'pictures' will be in these rectangular boxes to signify they they were taken by a camera (though not too strict on that aspect since i dont want it to be the same rectangle) but if I'm drawing a character talking from memory it'll be very gestural with simple indicators to what a thing is. a single pen stroke for the hair, n will just look very clean. but if it's of a fight scene then that's where things get interesting.

i will mainly use printer paper for the 'pictures' n other not very detailed or heavy handed works, but for a fight that needs that sort of reworking because of how I want it to look in the sketch, then the inks, and the (very very Very minimal) color placement will be more important. which i have more somewhat thicker paper I nabbed from school for another use but never got to. and regarding color, I've always been interested in the high contrast, inspired by pitch canker with the usage of reds black n white he does and haruko ichikawa, the mangaka of land of the lustrous. but how I'd intend to use high contrast is for something with a impact or the drama, shock of the sorts, with a whiteout pen for drawing very minimal detail. like if I want to emphasize the face or even the body, showcasing their strength or emotions while they're the black silhouette with the background being one solid color of white or red. but if i do want to draw all the pen strokes n detail then I'd wouldn't do the stippling, it'd be more reminiscent of BLAME! from tsutomu nihei, messy detail and most importantly: Cool as hell. it is the big inspiration for TUL anyway so why not go all out. i use crosshatching for my shading, so it may or may not work out? as crosshatching isnt very known to be Messy, moreso Perfect and Precise but ill manage.

back to the very minimal color usage I said I'd do: why so? well it may have something to do back to pitch canker again and another visual style that is very much so Cool. at least to me.. let's say I want to emphasize a character bleeding out, ill only do black and white as i actually dont have many pen colors besides the ones I Stole from school or i was given to by my parents, and also cuz BLAME! god damn it! ill use a blue pen, if you're wondering. or a character has a color code in mind, if they feel like a Phosphophyllite cyan then ill use that color to assign them with.

also. acrylic paint. that high contrast style I'd need to use a better paper for? yeah that's a big reason why, i only have blue Vermilion (because I'm DUMB and didnt realize it wasnt a good shade because walmart is SILLY) yellow black n white. obviously I need to make these drawings all in one thing so it wont be on a canvas. i described the idea I have for creating the one and only TUL book on twitter but I basically need the following: holepuncher, black n white paint, wire, scissors, ceral box, and the Prayer i have if i actually get far into making the untitled logs in the first place. itll be a book all compiled of the loose leaf, printer and slightly better papers all given 5 holes (I don't trust loose leaf with only 3) with maybe 130 pages. 100 pages isn't actually that much if you're making many different scenes in a span of 2 or 3 logs with 10+ drawings in there so, it'll be a moderately ok size for a handmade book made from paper and a ceral box with black paint on it.

okay here’s my post match analysis for leeds:

few things before we get into the analysis itself, i’m still very ill so this isn’t going to be as detailed as normal bc i don’t have the brain capacity to do that and also my stream last night kept cutting out so i didn’t really enjoy the game bc of that (literally massive fuck u to sky, bt and amazon prime for making us pay an arm n a leg and u can’t even show the fucking match!!!)

anyways onto the football. honestly from the little i did get to watch it was all around a bit of shit performance, not really too sure what happened there like antony, casemiro n eriksen were all solely missed but i’ve said it before how the squad should adapt to these absences bc otherwise we will just be demolished in these next few games

anyways now you all know i’m no.1 garnacho fan, so i’m just going to say that he’s 18. it shouldn’t come as a surprise his game is incomplete and i saw some ppl on twt saying well look at bellingham. first of all jude has been playing senior football since he was 16, this is garnacho’s first year. secondly, jude still makes mistakes!!! i don’t think garnacho should be criticised so much like he is still developing as a player and i’m excited for when he is a complete player because he’s a very exciting player to watch

now onto the goals: OH MY GOD SANCHO IS BACK ON THE SCORE SHEET I COULD CRY!!! i’m so happy and idc it were a 2-2 draw my baby boy is back and back to his scoring ways!!
