Local woman CANNOT sing, thinks she can and does so anyways
honestly a main draw of Ally McBeal for me is the characters and their relationships w/ each other
ever since the second season kiss (in my humble opinion) the show leaned away from Georgia as a focus and just mostly showed her and Ally antagonizing each other
this was a nice bit of levity though. I love women

Jonsa Fam Bam, Here are My Top Shows to Watch After Thrones is Over!
Hey guys!
As the show wraps us this weekend, I wanted to bring you content not related to Thrones. As much as I love GOT, I understand that this small part of my life that brought me joy is coming to a close. I have loved every single moment of being apart of this fandom and I’m so incredibly proud to be a JONSA! With that being said, I totally and completely believe in the power of moving on and there are so many incredible shows with exceptional writing that are KILLING IT right now that you should totally watch! So here are my top tv recommendations:
1 .New Amsterdam
Tumblr media
This is my favorite show on TV PERIOD! I never thought that I would be interested in a medical drama but this is not a typical medical drama in the slightest. The show is heads and shoulders above Grey’s and to be honest, I love this show way more than I have ever loved Game of Thrones. I’ve never watched a show where I’m in love with every single character. The cast is extremely diverse, the writers are intentional about every single storyline and the two lead characters are PHENOMENAL!!! If you think Jon and Sansa have subtext, you haven’t seen subtext until you see Max and Helen on screen! Sharpwin ( the ship name for them) is THAT SHIP fam! This show is an absolute must watch!
2. Succession
Tumblr media
Watching a show about a dysfunctional white billionaire family might not seem that appealing but trust me fam, this show is phenomenal! Probably the best show that came out last year! I’m still shook about the first season’s finale. I’m telling you this show is modern day Shakespeare! The music score alone makes this show a worthwhile watch!
3. The Handmaid’s Tale
Tumblr media
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, even if you haven’t watched the show you’ve probably heard of it. I don’t even need to go into detail about why you should watch this show. JUST DO IT! Also considering that Alabama and Georgia just passed some of the most restrictive anti-abortion laws, this show is a hell of a lot relevant than you think!
4. Jack Whitehall Travels With My Father
Tumblr media
Funniest show I’ve seen in a long time! If you just want a good laugh; this is what you watch! I’m praying to God that there’s a season 3 of Jack and his father’s travel adventures!
5. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Tumblr media
There’s a reason why they sweeped the emmys. This is a phenomenal comedy series! A story where a woman finds her voice and path when her husband leaves her with brilliant writing and witty humor, what more could you want?!
Honorable Mentions
Breaking Bad (Greatest show of all time)
Insecure
Mad Men
Billions
Black Mirror
The Umbrella Academy
Power
The Bodyguard
Ozark
Good Girls
Narcos
Parenthood
This is Us
Killing Eve (Love hate relationship with this show)
Stranger Things
The Crown
I’m pretty sure I’ve missed a ton of shows that I’ve grown to love, but these are the ones that I highly recommend you watch! Right now, I’m heavily involved in the New Amsterdam fandom and as they just finished their first season, I would love for y’all to be apart of it! Anyway, go binge watch any of these shows! I love you guys!

THE DEGENERATE’S GUIDE TO COLLEGE FOOTBALL TV WATCH ‘EM UPS 2021: WEEK THREE: THE END OF THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Tumblr media
We’re still really in the early middle of the year. Sure, Oregon looked powerful against Ohio State but it’s possible Ohio State just hasn’t found it’s footing yet and the Ducks just peaked. Shit happens like that every year, more or less. You can pretty much count on Bama to win 10 and not much else. That only applies to football. The continued stratification of social classes, the accelerating collapse of natural systems that support human life, the complete lack of representation the average American in our freedom loving democracy- you can count on those things. Football is different, though: wilder but more ordered while somehow being better and stupider than real life all at the same time. It’ll be fun to all more or less die together, I think. So let’s get to the games!
I forget the business reason for having more major OOC games that actually stay on the schedule but we’re reaping the rewards for now. You know the rules: eastern times, average vegas odds at the time of writing, prediction abilities are bad on a good day, there’s supposed to be a weekly RTARLsman post but I haven’t done a real one in about 21 months, formatting errors up to and including listing the teams incorrectly aren’t worth pointing out because nobody’s coming to fix them anyway. I don’t expect professionalism out of you so don’t ask it out of me.
Tumblr media
Saturday, September 18
Matchup                      Time (ET)        TV/Mobile
NIU at 25 Michigan     12:00pm            BTN
It’s easy to say Michigan is due for a self-inflicted dick kick the trick is to predict ahead of time when exactly the embarrassing, season-unraveling loss will come. I don’t think it’s today but I also don’t have a lot of faith in Michigan to cover a 27-point spread.
UAlbany at Syracuse     12:00pm        ACCN
I find it hard to believe Albany’s football program is in such disrepair that they don’t even warrant a line against Syracuse. I think we’ve had five 1AA-over 1A upsets so far this season. I couldn’t possibly watch this game but I’ll keep an eye out for it on the ticker. Syracuse is bad enough to lose anywhere to anybody.
Tennessee Tech at Tennessee   12:00pm    ESPN+/SECN+
I should probably find a site that lists the good games at the top of each time slot instead of this free for all.
Western Michigan at Pitt     12:00pm    RSN/ESPN3
Pitt has actually looked pretty good so far but they don’t have an AP ranking yet. I can’t say much for this matchup so I just assume the Panthers cover the -14.5 and get a little number next to their name next week.
15 Virginia Tech at West Virginia     12:00pm    FS1
This is actually of some interest to me. Virginia Tech is ranked 15 on account of beating UNC but it’s not hard to imagine that neither the Hokies nor the Heels are actually worthy of a ranking. WFV is favored at home but still might trigger some couch burning and “upset” talk with a win. The Mountaineers are this week’s new collection from Homefield Apparel so expect some magic!
Boston College at Temple        12:00pm     ESPNU
Old Big East rivalry game. Nobody can look away.
Chattanooga at Kentucky         12:00pm     ESPN+/SECN+
I thought Chattanooga had moved up to 1A but there’s no line listed for this game so I guess not.
8 Cincinnati at Indiana           12:00pm            ESPN
Indiana was good last year and maybe that was just a once-in-a-generation fluke but I’ve still got visions of the Hoosiers toppling Cincy and ruining their theoretically possible playoff run. I’m assuming the Bearcats won’t play anybody else better than IU this year but that’s just a guess backed by historical precedent which isn’t a thing you should really use to gamble on college football.
16 Coastal Carolina at Buffalo    12:00pm      ESPN2
Chanticleers vs. Bulls, the eternal struggle writ in football. I don’t think the CSUNY school is particularly good this year but Coastal being favorited by 14 points in an early kickoff road games still feels like a trap to this sharp.
Michigan State at 24 Miami (FL)     12:00pm    ABC
Surprisingly to me, this is the fifth all-time meeting of these two schools. Just as surprising to me, Miami has never before lost to Michigan State. Weird but makes sense if you think about it, this will be the fourth out of five matchups played in Miami. As near as I can tell, Sparty tried to use the Canes the same way Notre Dame used to as an in-season bowl game but bailed on the idea when they kept losing. To be fair, Sparty’s record in bowl games isn’t that much better than their 0-4 against Miami. The last time these two met was 1989 when Percy Snow was on his way to the Butkus Award and Miami was on their way to a third National Championship. The Hurricanes team was pretty well-stacked but is probably the least remembered of their title teams. It did feature future Hall of Famer Cortez Kennedy and a freshman OL that would go on to be September 2021′s hottest head coach in cfb, Mario Cristobal. This year’s Miami roster might look good in 30 years but right now they’re a little messy. D’Eriq King is only 8 months removed from ACL surgery (if you watch the game you will hear about this several hundred time) and has so far looked bad on his throws and a touch slower than he has in the past. Which makes sense given the timeframe but does not generally bode well for Miami’s prospects for this season.
Nebraska at 3 Oklahoma         12:00pm         FOX
If Oklahoma is a real title contender they are gonna lay Nebraska the fuck out. I’m scared of the 22.5-point line just because I don’t think the Sooners defense could stop Bishop Sycamore but it’s not crazy to think Nebraska can saw their own dicks off to the tune of a four-score loss.
New Mexico at 7 Texas A&M     12:00pm       SECN
Fuck. Jimbo must be stopped. I hate this Aggies team. UNM isn’t the team to do it but somebody along the way has to throttle aTm or this season is going to become a plague the likes of which we haven’t seen since... well, now, I guess.
UConn at Army                 12:00pm         CBSSN
Reading this matchup aloud five times in a mirror will kill college football.
Southeast Missouri at Missouri      12:00pm       ESPN+/SECN+
The southeastern part of the state will travel to within the bounds of the state for a classic football game somewhere within the borders of the state.
Minnesota at Colorado            1:00pm         P12N
I’m not completely disinterested. It’s weird and doesn’t have any national impact. Not much more you can ask for in a game you probably can’t find on your TV.
Nevada at Kansas State          2:05pm          ESPN+
Hell yeah, this is trash. Nevada is a road favorite! Take KState all the way.
Purdue at 12 Notre Dame         2:30pm          NBC
Notre Dame has looked a little bit of a mess so far but they’ve won both of their games. Not the worst position to be in. Purdue has also won both of their games. I don’t want to get my hopes up just yet but it seems like the Irish are riding the razor’s edge just asking to be pushed off. Keep an eye on this score, maybe the good people of the world will have something to celebrate in the late afternoon/early evening.
Kent State at 5 Iowa                 3:30pm         BTN
Iowa’s fifth? It’s too fucking early for this shit.
Florida State at Wake Forest     3:30pm         ESPN
0-2 Florida State goes on the road as a 4-point underdog to face 2-0 Wake Forest. Mike Norvell is really out on a plank right now and I am not sure he can safely find his way back to the deck.
Georgia Tech at 6 Clemson        3:30pm          ABC
Clemson’s got talent all over and Georgia Tech sucks but I’m still not sold on DJ Uigalelei as an NFL savior type of player. Or a national championship winner for that matter. He reminds me of EJ Manuel.
Baylor at Kansas                    3:30pm             ESPN+
Baylor is not good but the betting public is getting hip to the “bet against Kansas every chance you get” strategy so the line has jumped four points already this week and I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes it another couple before kickoff to get to 20+. Which is still probably too kind to the Jayhawks.
1 Alabama at 11 Florida           3:30pm           CBS
Bama has only had a couple of practice games against lower division opponents but they look as complete as any team I can remember from a talent/scheme perspective. This is a pretty good test and the 15-point line seems a little over-confident on the road in the Swamp. If the Bammers really do overwhelm the Gators then you can pretty much start planning on their return to the CFB Playoffs.
Tulsa at 9 Ohio State                3:30pm            FS1
Every week of every year I struggle to keep Tulsa and Toledo straight. Toledo is the one that almost beat Notre Dame last week. Tulsa is the one that lost to UC-Davis in week 1. Ohio State may be troubled on defense but that only matters against other top-tier teams. Having the line moving in Tulsa’s direction is absolute lunacy. If the Buckeyes can’t cover 25 points then they’re in real trouble. For now my guess is that Oregon is just better than we realized and OSU is going to be fine.
SMU at Louisiana Tech             3:30pm         CBSSN
This is my kind of counter-programming if nothing else is close. Not sure if there are some ponies down to have points shifting towards the Karl Malones but I think SMU is up to a two-score win.
LIU at Miami (Ohio)                    3:30pm          ESPN+
Sure, whatever you say.
USC at Washington State         3:30pm            FOX
At first I thought this was USC-UW and I was ready to emotionally invest in the drama but it’s just Wazzou. USC giving up on a playoff spot in week two to sit around and wait for Urban Meyer is going to be fucking hilarious when the Trojans end up getting jilted at the altar.
Idaho at Oregon State                3:30pm           P12N Oregon
Pac-12 Network Oregon. This implies the existence of a P12N Washington. I’ve seen the main network on TV before. It was fine if a little bit too “featuring Matt Leinart” for my tastes but seeing the weird way they’ve splintered their content is giving me a deeper understanding of west coast football fans that absolutely hate the Pac-12 Network.
Bryant at Akron                           3:30pm           ESPN3
Tune in to see some guy named Bryant touring around Akron.
Elon at Appalachian State          3:30pm           ESPN+
I hope App State runs this grifter out of their campus on a rail. The more bad stuff happens to Elon Musk the better off all of humanity will be.
Delaware at Rutgers                   3:30pm             BTN
Fuck me, this is just all the pain in the world masquerading as a sporting event.
Eastern Michigan at UMass         3:30pm          FloFootball/NESN+
I don’t have much interest in this game but seeing that it’s available on the Nintendo Entertainment System Network is intriguing.
Colorado State at Toledo              4:00pm           ESPNU
Toledo blew a huge opportunity last week so they’re ripe for a letdown but all signs point to Colorado State being incredibly bad at football this year.
Sacramento State at California    4:00pm          P12N Bay Area
P12N Bay Area probably reaches cable subscribers in like Vallejo and nowhere else in the entire world. When I put it that way it seems like exactly where this game belongs but it’s still not a thing that should exist. I mean the network but it’s true for the game also.
Northwestern at Duke              4:00pm              ACCN
Disgusting.
Mississippi State at Memphis        4:00pm          ESPN2
I think Memphis can knock down the SEC’s middle tier but I haven’t gotten a clear idea of either of these teams yet.
Georgia Southern at 20 Arkansas       4:00pm      SECN
Arkansas rose up last week because of the weird insistence by Lice Dad that playing a middling Texas team was the biggest game in school history. Arkansas has played in the SEC CG more than once. They’ve won a national championship. How does a guy that’s paid to be an SEC homer even make such a dumb statement and keep his job?
Ball State at Wyoming                  4:00pm             Stadium
I watched the CFB 150 episode about the Black 14 this week so now it’s all I can think about for Wyoming football.
Arkansas State at Washington       4:15pm            P12N
What the hell happened to UDub to fall back to this lowly spot? Did Chris Peterson just fall on his ass in recruiting?
Murray State at Bowling Green       5:00pm           ESPN3
This sounds like a sixties movie title for a spy agency thriller that could be mistaken for a comedy when not viewed through a then-contemporary lens.
East Carolina at Marshall                 6:00pm         Facebook
ECU is looking like a doormat and Marshall might be really good again but I would never in good conscience ever contribute to facebook’s good fortunes wittingly.
Fordham at Florida Atlantic             6:00pm             ESPN3
I want to love this game but I actually hate it.
Old Dominion at Liberty                    6:00pm           ESPN3
There is going to be so much COVID passed around this stadium.
Middle Tennessee at UTSA                6:00pm          ESPN+
Beautiful, horrible, unwatchable mess. This is where you go to feel like you are alone in the universe.
Troy at Southern Miss                        7:00pm             ESPN+
There’s also this.
Grambling State at Houston               7:00pm             ESPN+
And this one.
Utah at San Diego State                      7:00pm            CBSSN
This is real entertainment. Twitter will be all over the next listing so I’ll be FOMO’d into watching that for a while but SDSU-Utah on CBS SN might be where I first dreamt up the concept of degenerate football. It was either that or a UFL game featuring a QB duel between Daunte Culpepper and Jeff Garcia.
South Carolina at 2 Georgia               7:00pm             ESPN
I’m waiting for Georgia to bumble. I’m counting on it. Georgia-Clemson was a classic early season game that somehow helps both teams in the rankings all year but ends up actually being a showcase of how shitty their offense are rather than a referendum on great defense.
UIW at Texas State                             7:00pm              ESPN3
I think UIW is a union trade school or something. So I guess I’m rooting for them.
Charlotte at Georgia State                 7:00pm              ESPN+
Charlotte’s semester in Atlanta would shape her life in ways that nobody could have envisioned when she left her family’s home in the late summer following her failed attempt to run a bakeshop.
FIU at Texas Tech                              7:00pm             ESPN+
Maybe I actually hate college football.
Florida A&M at USF                           7:00pm             ESPN+
USF could lose this. Worth checking on if you see an upset alert.
Furman at NC State                          7:30pm            RSN/ESPN3
Body bag game.
Utah State at Air Force                     7:30pm             FS2
Kind of neat degenerate game but, depending on the uniform choices, could be a bit monotone and tough to follow.
Virginia at 21 North Carolina             7:30pm             ACCN
The South’s Oldest Rivalry! Like most of the previous 125 meetings of these two school’s, this year’s game will mainly decide who sucks worse. Of course in the ACC Coastal being slightly less bad than your opponents is the winningest strategy of all. Go Hoos!
Stony Brook at 4 Oregon                   7:30pm            P12N
Great scheduling to follow up an emotional game with a body bag. I’m not being facetious, this is right where you need these games.
UAB at North Texas                          7:30pm           Stadium
Not gonna open an app or whatever to watch this but I bet it’s fun for off-brand college football.
Central Michigan at LSU                  7:30pm             SECN
LSU at home at night is supposed to be the best atmosphere in college football. Way better than a 19.5-point line against Central Michigan. What stage of LSU’s life cycle are we in right now?
22 Auburn at 10 Penn State               7:30pm            ABC
War goddamn Eagle, baby. Penn State is doing that stupid white out thing which, correct if I’m wrong again, only goes for the people in the stands. So they’ll all be dressed up in pretty much Auburn’s road colors to watch Auburn. I hate Auburn but I really hate Penn State.
Alcorn State at South Alabama          8:00pm           ESPN3
Things are looking rough for the rest of the docket.
Rice at Texas                                      8:00pm            LHN
A battle of equals.
Stanford at Vanderbilt                        8:00pm           ESPNU
Look at this American aristocracy horse shit. Fuck these schools and the teams of horses that carried them in.
Tulane at 17 Mississippi                      8:00pm              ESPN2
The racist south may just have the nation’s best QB. It’s a good year for Matt Corral to show off his arm strength because 2022 is not looking like a bumper crop of QB draftees at this far off date. He’s small for the position but Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield and Russell Wilson are all smaller. If the arm talent is real he could go #1 overall.
Jackson State at ULM                         8:00pm              ESPN3
Nope.
SC State at New Mexico State            8:00pm           FloFootball / CW El Paso
Sorry.
Oklahoma State at Boise State              9:00pm          FS1
Whoa whoa whoa. This is uniform heaven. And on the blue turf? Your eyes will burn. Embrace that feeling.
Northern Arizona at Arizona                  10:00pm          P12N AZ
P12N AZ. Holy shit. What the hell were these people thinking? This has to be the smallest demo ever targeted by a network.
19 Arizona State at 23 BYU                     10:15pm          ESPN
Seeing these teams face off as ranked opponents is very weird. Real late 80s vibe here. It’s titillating in its way. Might not even be the most fun game in the late night region.
14 Iowa State at UNLV                           10:30pm           CBSSN
UNLV is an absolute wasteland of a program. It’s kind of stupid, really. They aren’t in an unsellable spot and they don’t play the most rugged schedule but year after year after year they lose 9 or more games. Makes more sense than not having a good baseball program but there should be some G5 magic in Vegas. Iowa State is going to roll.
Fresno State at 13 UCLA                       10:45pm            P12N
Chip Kelly having UCLA as the premier program in L.A. is something I couldn’t have seen coming just last week but we’re there now. And Fresno State plays some wild offense that could/should make this the late night hangout spot. If you can find it. If you have this channel. That shouldn’t be a question! Fuckin’ a, Pac-12, what are you doing?
San Jose State at Hawaii                      12:30am            FS1
Technically a Sunday game but I cut the header because if you’re watching this there is an implicit understanding that it’s still Saturday. Not sure what’s going on with the kick time, though. I was under the impression that Hawaii games had to kick off by 11:59pm Eastern to count with the rest of the week’s games. Very odd. That’s really all I have to say about this game.

2017 for my regressive side
Well guys, this is it; we’re really already at the end of 2017! Hard to believe, ain’t it? Well, I normally don’t do year review thingies, bu’ I figured I should probably do one this year, mostly cause this year’s been the best out of all the years of my life- and that’s saying a lot. I mostly wanna cover what this year has held for my regressive side, also with bits of stuff that happened in my big girl life!
If ya want, I’d love if ya made one of these posts about what this year held for your regressive side and you tagged me in it! Chances are, I’ll be reading it and replying very quickly!
Anyways, time for the year review! It begins below the cut!
This year’s held a lot of things for my regressive side; a lot more than the previous years. I’m going to try and cover everything, for every month of the year!
January held my fifteenth birthday and also marked four years since I started liking diapers nonstop again, which ultimately led to me beginning to age regress. I discovered that it seems my regressive side is most active this month, something that’s really helpful to know for obvious reasons. I attempted to indulge in my regressive side discreetly to cope with stress, as I was still hiding this whole thing at the time and seldom spoke about it to Kaiya, my younger sister. I also remember that the month before, I stopped identifying as a chireb, and was trying to find a new label for myself, but was failing. This was frustrating to me.
I don’t really remember a whole lot about February! Not much that I can note, that is. Thinking about it, this month is kinda a blurry, confusing mess if that says anything; I just can’t remember a whole lot from it! I think either this month or the month after was when I gave up on finding a label and just settled on the generic age regressor term.
March held quite a bit of things for my big girl side; I began playing baseball, got my own room at last, and mourned the loss of a big part of my preteen and early teenagehood when Club Penguin shut down. Even with more privacy for my regressive side and my life in general, I mostly forgot about my regressive side around this time and moved on with my life.
April doesn’t hold a lot of notable things for agere, either. I do know that starting four months before, I started feeling other ages in my identity (I feel all the ages I regress to in my identity. Like, I feel like them and at times, that for example, I’m a 7-year-old trapped in a teenager’s body. It’s not a fun feeling) and I accepted two without a problem (10 and 11), but I continued to deny and push aside another age I felt, thinking it seemed too young. After all, I was content with my youngest being two-years-old; or so I thought.
I wanna say May started getting a bit tough. As the spring season of baseball drew closer to the end, of course, my regressive side began trying to rise from the depths. The little girl inside me wanted attention and more space. She couldn’t keep sitting back and hiding forever.
The most I could do for my little self was watch toddler and little kid shows in private, play with my toys, play children’s games online, and color. Not a whole lot, clearly, and I was still self-conscious of a lot of this. I am sure this is the time where I began feeling trapped regarding all of this.
June began to show signs of easier times. Baseball finally ended for the summer, which of course, led to the “Well dang; what am I gonna do with my life til the fall season?” moment. My regressive side, of course, took the wheel for most of the summer at this point. Hiding this was becoming very hard; I had to find some way to cope, some way to be open, anything. My little side could hardly take it anymore; this month or the next month marked four years since she first stepped into my life and you can only hide yourself for so long before it becomes too much (I had been making an effort to hide for a year or two before then).
Towards the end of the month, I finally reluctantly accepted the fact I seemed to regress to age 1 and 4 days later, I finally gathered the courage to make this blog, something I had thought about for a year, but could never do it. I told myself if I regretted it, I could just delete it, no problem; that was what I was expecting I’d end up doing.
But instead, with a place I could be little, the trapped feeling began to ease. I was scared, of course, but also relieved and very happy. In fact, I was so happy that when I went to the bathroom shortly after a brief flood-reblog, I had to happy stim for a minute or two before I could actually do what I came in there for. I gave Mom and Kaiya the link to this blog. I’m sure making this blog is one of the best decisions I’ve made this year- and I’ve made a lot.
Making the blog reminded of my love for diapers, which brought back a memory of when Mom sneakily bought some for me the summer before. Talking about it here was really hard at first and took a lot of courage, but if you can’t tell, I can do it without flinching or hesitating now. After a quick chat with Mom, I decided at last, I’d finally try them whenever Dad left the house for a few hours (shout-out to the anon who sent that ask after I posted about it, you’re amazing and I hope you had a wonderful year. We need more people like you. Also, I started happy stimming when I reread the ask before linking it here).
Also, I rediscovered Small Elephant (I received the lil guy as a gift a year before and played with him once, but never got too attached to him) around this time and idk what exactly happened or how it did, but apparently, I ended up attached to him and I still am. He’s my lil vacation/severe weather evacuation buddy now.
July was a blast! I finally tried out my diapers shortly after Dad left to help out at a vape and tattoo shop he volunteers at and by the time I finally changed out of my first diaper, I had officially decided I was wearing them for the rest of my life (not as in 24/7, but... I’m sure ya know what I mean). The only problem is that because I was used to seeing what all the a/b/d/l community advertised, I ended up developing a rash the second time I wore and had to learn how to take care of myself properly mostly by myself with the occasional help from Mom and the internet (and literally now is when I see everyone from that community talking about the proper way to do things...).
The day I tried diapers out, I tried out regressing to age 1 to see how I’d like it and well, the rest is history. ;)
Kai relearned of the diapers this month (read it once somewhere on my blog according to Mom, then I had to tell her about a sample pack on the way, and then Mom had to have a conversation with her about it in the car when they were the only ones in there) and said she was cool with it and briefly even began joking about the whole age regression thing (in a friendly way, mind you).
I told Kim, my older sister, about my regression, and she took it wonderfully, of course. I also told a friend of mine about my regression and liking of diapers, who also took it just fine and showed a lot of support for it.
I began to indulge more and more into this and I even had a friend who also age regressed by the end of this month (Rayyyyyyy~).
I went to Florida with Mama, Kai, and a former (? I don’t even know anymore, honestly) friend of Mama’s and it held some interesting adventures there, too! I took Small Elephant places, regressed at the beach twice (@ Kai, psst. Remember when I trapped you in that hug and almost sunk us into the ocean? Well, there’s your reason why), got a Winnie the Pooh book from Goodwill, and indulged in some tasty smiley fries one afternoon! Clearly, this month is one of the best for my age regression. The little girl inside was happy; I was no longer feeling trapped.
August was pretty wild. Small Elephant came with me to Georgia; I don’t think he got to come along on any adventures outdoors, however. I got a jack-in-the-box style toy with a mama kangaroo and her baby joey inside. I also regressed at some point at our cabin and enjoyed running around outside just before a storm blew through. Mom chose to tell someone about my age regression without my permission (talk about a thought to occupy yourself down the lengthy lazy river) and thankfully, that person was fine with it. I was thinking about telling her not too long before, funny enough. I’d prefer permission and a warning before telling someone, though, aha.
I got two “0+ months” pacifiers that month from Mom and literally spent 2 hours sucking on them, save for when I briefly stopped to switch; needless to say, my TMJ relapsed very quickly after around six months of absence of symptoms, aha.
My ex broke up with me (I got with him back in May), despite promising that no breakup would happen 3 days before. This was mostly a good thing, though; no more worrying about how and when to tell him about the diapers and age regression! I’ve been single since and content with it. The thought of telling my future boyfriend(s) this is terrifying, but maybe he’ll be fine with it. Maybe I’ll even meet someone who also likes diapers (nonsexually, mind you) and age regresses as well! I imagine that’s a once in a blue moon thing, though.
We also told Dad about my regression and he took it fine, something that surprised me, as I was genuinely not expecting it. Mom didn’t tell him a lot and eventually, decided to back off for a bit temporarily after mentioning that I “liked to act like a 7/5-year-old sometimes” and that I liked pacifiers and wanted one (this was after I got mine). According to Mom, he didn’t respond to the pacifiers thing and honestly, it’s still kinda scary (if it’s the no reply I think it is, I got him to do it back in October and it’s really unsettling). I don’t know what it means and I don’t think I want to know. He still doesn’t know about the pacifiers to this day. It’s wild.
September held its own adventures. I finally rediscovered an old bag of Mom’s (I mostly remember it because she had it when I was an ‘’actual’’ toddler) and what’s inside? A baby bottle I held on to for three years from when my parents had me treat Puzzle Piece as if he were a baby, thinking it’d rid of my age regression tendencies (if anything, I think this just fed it tbh). I planned to wash it and perhaps try it out or look into a new one.
This also held a notable visit from my older sister. She was told about my liking of diapers and you probably guessed it, her response was coming to my room (I panicked and ran away while she was on the way to the living room after Mom called her in there), giving me a hug, and saying, “I love and support you no matter what you do”. My sisters are great if you can’t tell, and I also mean that outside of agere.
The night before the diaper reveal, Mom noticed me lying on Kim while she rocked the recliner one evening and Mom offered to rock me someday while Dad was gone, something I accepted pretty quickly. I got Mom to rock me for the first time ever two days later. Mom also told me that Dad was fine with the rocking, hence why I was rocked literally right next to him at some point, and he even said he could rock me someday. I don’t think I could do that, though; age regression related stuff is really hard to do around him, and I’d be too worried about his back (he has a bad back).
That month, the day before the rocking part took place, I finally gathered the courage to actually refer to her as “Mommy” on here, along with “Daddy” for Dad. It honestly feels so good to do. I just find it sad I was so scared to use those words at first thanks to the kink/sters. I refer to those two regularly by those titles, mostly to try and reclaim those words as innocent, pure words I call my parents occasionally, rather than terms that are tainted with reminders of ki/nk. Mommy’s easier to use, because I’m closer to Mom than Dad (as of late, that is), and also because “Mommy” isn’t as corrupted as “Daddy”.
I got a Pooh Bear sleeper the day of my second baseball game of the fall season. It’s soft and it makes me feel like a toddler; the only problem is that it’s so easy to overheat in it (which really sucks because I’m hypersensitive to heat and can’t handle getting really hot) and sleepers take up a lot of room in a dresser.
Oh, and this month, Mom called me a nick name she uses for me quite a bit now; “My baby”. Out of all the nicknames I know, I never thought of that. I still melt when she calls me it tbh.
October was a mix, really. I don’t remember a whole lot involving this, really. Rocked by Mom again, got another sleeper, and witnessed Kaiya prove that she was okay with the whole diaper thing by insisting she was fine with it, actually going to the adult diaper aisle with us at Wal-Mart (she stayed a bit away from us, though), and when the cashier bagged the diapers up, she moved so dang fast and had them hidden in no time. I know this because I watched her load other stuff into the cart and she was much more relaxed. I did see her look into the cart at some point before we went to check-out, so perhaps she memorized what the package looked like so she could hide them? Idk if she remembers it or if she’d even want to talk about it, so... Who knows
Towards the end of the month, something began happening. I don’t know what, but it eventually led to me becoming depressed again for a little while, but we’ll discuss that in a few minutes. I discovered I was so indulged in my regression I actually forgot aspects of myself and chose to take a break for a week the next month. I came back feeling better about agere and somewhat better about myself in general. I still don’t understand what happened, but it hasn’t happened again since. Hopefully, it’ll never happen again.
November was a pretty miserable month for me tbh. Has a few good or at least neutral parts, mostly in the beginning, of course. One of these is that I discovered that I can go so deep into my baby mindset (I refer to my 1-year-old self as a baby for brevity) that I’ll chew on things without a thought and well, perhaps that other part’s a bit tmi. I also finally tried out my bottle one evening; very comforting and relaxing.
In the middle of the month, I struggled with accepting that perhaps I did need meds after all (spoiler: I definitely need them) and stress from this, a fixation on childhood trauma, and chores, which were gradually becoming stressful instead of enjoyable, began building up. I began to fall back into a depression, something I was in denial about the entire time.
It was this time that I noticed I was having a harder time regressing, something that was terrifying to me. I was scared that perhaps my regressive side was going dormant; one of my biggest fears is that I stop regressing for good and I was scared that was what was about to happen. That was, until one night, I had an involuntary episode briefly. I didn’t think much of it and went on with my night as normal once it concluded. I don’t know why I didn’t become concerned; involuntary episodes are rare for me, after all. But then, I thought I was about to have a block, so I guess that’s why I thought nothing of it.
I tried my best to cope with everything, but it was futile. One night, just witnessing the dog we were dog-sitting have an accident and having to take all three by myself while they all cried and tried to get out just made me snap, I guess. I fell deeper into my depression, began craving to be an actual baby/young toddler again for the first time in a couple of years, and briefly began having involuntary regression episodes every night. Wearing a diaper to bed and having Small Elephant with me every night for a couple of nights, drinking from my bottle one night, spending more time with my pacifiers, and easing up on everything I could helped pull me out of it.
I still don’t understand what exactly happened, but I hope it never happens again. Also, I guess this confirms that I have involuntary regression episodes when I’m overly stressed. Hopefully the next time this happens, my regressive side will keep me afloat, like it always has.
December was pretty good! I got rocked again by Mom while I was being bottlefed by her, got a new bottle and a toddler snack, and got more toddler snacks later on that day (again, Kaiya moved them to another bag quickly before Mom gave me the bag with them inside). Dad learned about the bottles and snacks and thankfully, is alright with it. I wish it was the same way with diapers. He still doesn’t know about me wearing diapers behind his back, as you probably guessed, and it will stay that way for a while.
I think I kinda cheated another depressive episode, but? It never came. I was just really grumpy and easily upset for a while, to the point of punching my bed and stomping, which I hardly do (heck, I still am as of right now, but it’s calmed down some). I wish whatever my brain’s doing would stop, because it’s getting rather annoying and I’d rather not spend any longer whining frequently and worrying about getting upset to the point of punching or kicking my closet door off its hinges or something. :’)
Christmas was great; I mostly got big girl gifts (see: My new camera) or at least neutral gifts (see: My stim toys and maybe my Pikachu necklace), but I did get a few things that appealed to my regressive side, like a set of five different Paw Patrol puzzles, a penguin plushie with my name written on its tummy (glitter and everything!), and an Animal Jam playset thing!
To end this year off, I got a sippy cup, one of my most-wanted regression items around that time. Now, if only I could actually bring myself to wash my bottle and sippy cup in the dishwasher (they’re top rack safe)... I guess I can start off the new year washing them after I listen to Bring Me to Life or maybe while I’m listening to it, hee hee hee.
As you can see, I had a pretty wild year full of adventures and experiences! You know what? Why don’t I mention some folks who played a role in making this year the best?
Mom - Mom, I think you know how you’ve helped. You’re literally a big aspect in this post. When I was 12, I thought I’d never have your support about all of this, but now, here we are. You’re my mommy and I’m your baby and I always will be. I love you.
Kai - Sis, I think you see your role here, too. I thought you’d never support me, either, but here we are. Thank you for being cool with the diapers and everything else and always being respectful about it. I love you. Also, sorry for almost drowning us that time
Kim - You don’t get on Tumblr anymore, but I figured you deserved your own spot here, anyways. You haven’t gotten to see a lot, but you’ve still been very supportive of all this. Thank you for being fine with it and loving me for who I am, no matter what I choose to do. I love you. Also, I still can’t get over the fact that you seemed to do so good with little me that one time and you didn’t even know I was regressed at the time and you literally treat me how you treated regressed me all the time, but I still can’t get over it
Ray - You were my first friend who also age regressed. Tbh, I’ve admired ya from afar for like, a year before we started talking, but I was always scared to talk to ya. Thank you for being so supportive, helping me out and offering help for things occasionally. Also, thank you again for the regression moodboard ya made in the past for me! I still think about it a lot, and have looked at it so much that I’m pretty sure I have it ingrained into my brain.
Bug - We haven’t known each other for long, but I wanted to say thank you for taking an interest in me and being my friend. You’re adorable and so sweet (and so is your fursona. I love seeing other people’s fursonas, ahhh). My bumblebee plushie told me to tell you he said hi~
Leah - We haven’t known each other for long, either, but you’ve been so sweet to me the entire time we have. Thank you for the times you’ve checked on me when I didn’t seem to be doing so well. We need more people like you. Honestly, your kindness is goals for me; I’m always wanting to be kind at all times and you’ve got that perfect amount, it seems.
All my other followers - I can’t list all of y’all, so I figured y’all should get your own honorable mention in one go~ Some of you I’ve known almost as long as this blog has been around (6 months!), some of you I’ve only recently gotten to know. I don’t know why y’all followed me, but I appreciate it. Thank y’all for following me, sticking around, and just being all-around cool. Y’all are adorable and lovely and I love y’all (and so is everyone else who got a specific mention. Yes, I love you guys, too).
I think 2017 is the best year for my age regression by far and the best year of my life in general. I’ve learned things, laughed, cried, shook from excitement and fear, grinned, and stimmed in many different ways for many different emotions. I can finally be myself without feeling as much shame. An autistic, ADHD teenage girl who is occasionally in diapers and often feels more like a little girl than a teenager sure is an interesting thing to be, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I don’t know what 2018 could bring, but I am ready for whatever it throws at me, whether it be pie (fun fact: I have never eaten pie before), problems with other people about this, or a pack of diapers.
To all my fellow age regressors, I hope 2018 brings you lots of happiness, acceptance for who you are by others and yourself, and anything you may want for your regressive side, whether it be more toys, a sippy cup, or a lot of marathons for your favorite cartoon/anime/TV show. Even if it’s hard for you right now, it will get easier; I promise.
Happy new year!! Stay little/tiny/smol.

Gave it some time, here are some thoughts.
Isn’t it funny? Two weeks ago, we were all gloom and doom, sky is falling, chicken littles.
Gus Malzahn wasn’t going to be the guy, but there was nobody prepared to fork over the cash for the buyout. Everyone that figured Yella Fella would pony up a solid $25M to send Gus off to Arkansas or somewhere found out that rich businessmen get rich by not paying that kind of money on a gamble.
Then, there we were. Gus is still on the sideline, coaching against Alabama in a game that he absolutely could win, especially without Tua under center for the Tide.
So what happened?
Gus not only tricked the greatest coach of all time into blowing a gasket, but he tricked all of the Auburn fans that wanted him gone as well.
Auburn beat Alabama 48-45 in the 84th Iron Bowl, which turned out to be the most insane edition of the storied rivalry. At a high level, here are some of the things that stood out:
The win puts Auburn at 9-3 for the regular season, which turned out to be one of the toughest in school history. The Tigers’ only losses came by 11 at Florida, 3 at LSU, and 7 vs Georgia. Before the year began, if we’d said that Auburn would go 2-1 against Oregon, A&M, and Florida, and 1-2 against LSU, Georgia, and Alabama, you’d probably take that. We did it. Successful year. Auburn now has a chance to reach ten wins in a bowl game, which will likely take place on New Year’s Day in a sunny Florida location.
Alabama’s season is ruined. Imagine being so spoiled as to think that your season is ruined at 10-2, with both losses coming by fewer than ten total points. There will be no Playoff appearance for the Tide in 2019, which means they miss the Playoff for the first time since its inception. MUST BE TOUGH. Cry me a river. While they’ve had incredible longevity over the last decade, this is a bit of a different feel. The last three good teams that Alabama played put up 44, 46, and 48 points on Nick Saban’s vaunted defense. In 2020, they stand to lose the vast majority of their skill players, offensive line, and a ton of their defensive stalwarts as well...
Tumblr media
You know, these kinds of defensive stalwarts...
...who knows what kind of coaching turnover happens in the meantime for them as well. The point is, the #decline seems a little more founded in reality than hope.
Gus Malzahn once again showed that he’s THE guy that can get Saban’s gourd. Nobody else has that ability. Sure, Dabo’s beaten him a couple times, but those were straight up one-on-one slugfests where Clemson was just better. Auburn was better in 2013 with the Kick Six, and they were better last night too, but when you roll out something new (pop pass/punter substitution trick) and it causes Saban to bitch about the rules, you know you’re doing something right. You’re putting mileage on that engine, and that’s a good thing.
As for the game itself, what a wild ride. We had 48 combined points in the second quarter, two pick sixes (including one that went for 100 yards), and so many elements that harkened back to the Kick Six and must’ve given Saban a feeling like he was Buckner walking back into Shea.
Let’s dive in.

I saw so many people (Auburn fans even) talking about how rushing the field was dumb. If it annoys Alabama then it can’t possibly be a bad idea.
Also, doing anything to entertain of the MVP of the 2017 Iron Bowl is fine by me.
Bama just put this this L in a little rice it’ll be okay in a couple days

— Coach T-Will (@T_WILL4REAL) December 1, 2019
One point of contention earlier in the year was the fan support at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn didn’t get to play any big games at home until Georgia, and while the crowd was unreal for that affair, we had to endure the “It was cold” excuses from the students after Ole Miss. Last night paid any sort of fan support debt in full.
Jordan Hare Stadium was ROCKIN tonight! BEST GAME EVER! #WarEagle #ironbowl pic.twitter.com/u7NvI8Qhn8
— Dana Spurlin (@dspurlin_tift) December 1, 2019
If you're wondering why Jordan-Hare Stadium was screaming "It's great to be an Auburn Tiger," it's because the Alabama section started a "Roll Tide" chant while Daniel Thomas was still down on the field injured.
— Nathan King (@byNathanKing) November 30, 2019
In the past, the Iron Bowl has always been a rivalry game that seems pretty clean on the field. Most of these guys grew up together, played against or with each other when they were younger, and so the bad blood on the field is kept to a minimum. It’s usually the idiots in the stands that can’t handle the tension and do things like “destroy historic landmarks”.
Yesterday, though, we got to see some real chippy play from both sides. Seth Williams got tagged with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty (he is from Tuscaloosa, after all), and Boobee Whitlow was on the receiving end of a penalty after a helmet slap too.
All that an emotional ballgame means is that when it’s all said and done, you end up with a heck of a celebration... even if it is super goofy.

Gus has reason to be excited. His offensive line — much-maligned throughout the season — did something incredible when you put it up against what we’d seen earlier this year —
Auburn's O-Line did not allow a single sack today and only allowed 4 tackles for a loss. AUsome job, young men.
— Auburn Elvis (@AuburnElvis) December 1, 2019
We got a superhuman effort from Derrick Brown with 3.5 TFLs, we got 114 yards from Boobee Whitlow, a turnover free game from Bo Nix, and we got the effort you’d expect from our opposing kicking game voodoo.
if you told me Auburn mic'd the uprights for this game and hooked them up to the stadium speakers I would 100% believe you https://t.co/gAigjBOdCW

— Graham Brooks (@The_GBrooks) December 1, 2019
For real, though... Auburn somehow escaped that game with injuries galore. Anthony Schwartz played exactly one snap before going out with an ankle injury, and we saw tons of dudes laid out on the carpet at various times throughout the game. Honestly, with the receivers that Alabama put on the field (Waddle was their FOURTH OPTION), there’s no reason that the Tide should ever lose with Tua, Namath, Mac Jones, you, or me at quarterback. Auburn somehow also forced Alabama to only use Najee Harris in a semi-meaningless way. He got 146 yards on 27 carries, and scored, but in the grand scheme of the game, did his performance really matter? It didn’t.
For the first time all year, against a good opponent, I had confidence that the offense was going to do something. Driving late to take the lead for good, I didn’t really feel nervous in thinking that we’d need some other miracle to take place for us to win. We went right down the field and got a Classic Gus Wildcat call for the game-winning touchdown. It just so happened to clown a Bama defender and make a meme out of Xavier McKinney.
And how about the final play? Being at the game, it was wild to watch. Jaylen Waddle was out there about 40 yards deep the whole time, and he had no idea he needed to run off until the final moment, but he didn’t get off the field before the flag was there to greet him at the sideline. Bama’s hero all game long was the guy that got flagged in the end. It’s poetic. What’s also poetic is Gus’ ability to needle at Saban by doing something completely legal. Saban’s literally just mad that he couldn’t use it first. The way he described the entire ordeal as “unfair” makes it seem as though Auburn put some sort of a cloak on Arryn Sipposs and smuggled him into the formation. Instead, they trotted him out with the rest of the offense, stuck him at receiver, and five-star corner Patrick Surtain decided to cover him.
Maybe Saban should’ve known that Auburn wasn’t going to go for it when a failure has the Tide already in field goal range. Maybe his years of football knowledge should’ve taken over. They didn’t. He panicked. His staff panicked. His players panicked. The process failed, and the best collection of talent in the country folded when it mattered most.
Gus Malzahn bamboozled Nick Saban. He ‘boozled him hard, and that’s going to be the most satisfying thing to come out of this Iron Bowl. Auburn scored 48 points, but the number of Nick’s gray hairs that’ll resist Just For Men’s latest formula are far more numerous.
War Eagle, everyone. #WeBeatBama.

How to watch the European Qualifiers
It’s the first international football break this season. Over the next whole week, 55 teams will play two games each in the Euro 2020 Qualifiers in a bid to enhance their selection for UEFA Euro 2020.
This will be followed by two more international breaks – in mid-October and mid-November – after which 55 teams will be whittled down to 24 to represent their country at Euro 2020. The draw for the tournament takes place on 30 November 2019, where these teams will be drawn into six groups of four teams each.
Most teams have already played three or four European Qualifier games, with only England, Netherlands and Portugal having played two each. Belgium and Northern Ireland are the only teams to have won all of their four games. England, too, has a flawless 2-0 in both their games.
Next year’s marquee football tournament, UEFA Euro 2020, will be held in 12 cities in 12 European countries from 12 June to 12 July 2020. For the first time since 1976, no team will automatically qualify as the host country. The semi-finals and final will be hosted at England’s national stadium at Wembley.
Former UEFA president Michael Platini said that Euro 2020 is being hosted in several nations as a romantic one-off event to celebrate the 60th birthday of the European Championships.
As some may remember, the last tournament, Euro 2016, was won by Cristiano’s Ronaldo’s Portugal who defeated France 1-0 in the Final which went into extra-time. Portugal has yet to register a victory, having drawn both their European Qualifier games so far.
All the Euro 2020 Qualifier games will be shown on television in the UK. While both England’s games over the next week will be on free-to-watch ITV (see section below), all the other games will be shown on Sky Sports. Most of the big games will also be broadcast simultaneously on Now TV Sky Sports Pass.
How to watch the European Qualifiers in the UK: ITV
Free-to-air channel ITV is only broadcasting two games over the next week, but to British fans, they’re probably the most important ones.
England vs Bulgaria at 5pm on Saturday, 7 September
England vs Kosovo at 7:45pm on Tuesday, 10 September
While the first game is at the national stadium at Wembley, the Three Lions will face Kosovo at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton on Tuesday.
Watch England’s games on ITV
How to watch the European Qualifiers in the UK: Sky Sports
The best way to watch the other 48 European Qualifier games that take place this week is to subscribe to Sky Sports. If you have Sky TV, then you’ll need to add Sky Sports to your existing TV package.
This currently costs £23 a month on an 18-month contract, but you get access to a variety of sports including the Premier League, Ashes, Formula 1 and other sporting tournaments from around the world.
Sky TV currently has an offer that gives you access to its two exclusive football channels for £18 a month. Apart from the European Championships, this will let you watch all the Premier League and EFL Championship games that Sky broadcasts during the 2019-2020 season.
As you will see below, some games are only available on the Sky Sports Red Button. These matches are exclusive to customers who have Sky Sports on their TV package. Now TV subscribers, for example, won’t be able to watch these games.

How to watch the European Qualifiers abroad
As we mentioned before, there are 55 teams taking part in the Euro 2020 Qualifiers and all 55 will be involved in action over the next five days.
Thankfully, most of the European Qualifiers are being broadcast on different national channels all around the world.
Click the link below to see which channel or streaming service you can watch all the games on in your country.

How to watch the European Qualifiers abroad: use a good VPN service
If you’re away from the UK this week, then your only way to watch the European Qualifiers is to use a VPN. You will first need to purchase one of the VPNs (see below links), then change the location to the UK. The same process works if you’re away from your country and want to watch the European Qualifiers on a streaming service or website that’s broadcasting the games live in your home country.
A VPN helps you geoshift your location so that websites think that you’re browsing from the country you select within the VPN, even though you can be based anywhere in the world. Both the services we mention below also encrypt all your browsing traffic, so no one will ever be able to see what you do online.

ExpressVPN: To stream any live sports content using a VPN, speed is the main criteria and ExpressVPN is far and away the leader of the pack in that regard. It is absolutely worth it for its speeds, 24/7 customer support and useful tutorials. You get a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you really have nothing to lose. Even better, our readers get three months free when they choose the one-year plan, saving you 49%!

NordVPN: Our second-favourite is NordVPN. Even though it’s not as fast, it works with a wide range of devices and you can use it on six devices simultaneously. Apart from that, it also has 24/7 customer support to assist you should you need help at any given time. Both NordVPN and ExpressVPN have been independently audited to prove that they don’t log any user data.

The degenerate’s guide to college football TV watch ‘em ups, 2019 season, week 9
Tumblr media
It’s week 9 and it’s time to get serious about all of the football watching and the gambling and the talking about and all of those things and there is a World Series game tonight but the best sports thing of the day?
Miami @ Pittsburgh got listed as “must watch” in the SB Nation watch grid this week and I can’t stop laughing. Yes, it was listed as that because of the high probability of inexcusably bad football leading to a frontrunner to play in this year’s Orange Bowl. Sigh sigh sigh.
The format is a weekly battle. The information is taken from FBSchedules and Vegas Insider. Be very leery of any opinions contained in this post.
Saturday, October 26
Matchup                                                          Time (ET)              TV/Mobile
San Jose State at Army                                  12:00pm                 CBSSN
I haven’t kept up with Army this year and I see they’re sitting at 3-4, the same as San Jose State. Good.
Mississippi State at Texas A&M                     12:00pm                  SECN
I’m rightly astonished that neither of these teams is ranked right now. aTm is above .500 and has a very well-compensated head coach. What more does an SEC team need to get a ranking?
21 Appalachian State at South Alabama       12:00pm                 ESPNU
App State is 6-0 and favored by 27.5 on the road. I know USA has been trash this year but I’d put a nickel or so on the Jaguars to keep it close enough to win money. Strong words? You bet.
13 Wisconsin at 3 Ohio State                          12:00pm                   FOX
Wisconsin just had to beat Illinois to make this the biggest of Big Nude Saturdays and they couldn’t do it. Now I’m not really sure what argument there is to take the Wolverines +14.5. Funny stuff, Chryst.
5 Oklahoma at Kansas State                           12:00pm                    ABC
The line is going up and, sure, KSU isn’t as good as their record but when have they ever been? Even when they were a yearly threat to lose all their games K-State has found a way to be worse than their record. But 23.5 seems like a lot to favor anybody in Manhattan.
Bowling Green at Western Michigan              12:00pm                ESPN3
Tumblr media
Illinois at Purdue                                               12:00pm                   BTN
Illinois isn’t good at all even though they beat Wisconsin last week but if they were in the ACC Coastal they’d be in contention for an Orange Bowl berth. Purdue is favored by 9.5 which seems bold to me.
20 Iowa at Northwestern                                   12:00pm                 ESPN2
The weather forecast I’m looking at has clouds, no precipitation, normal wind. The over/under is 37. I’m not sure what to do with this. It seems reasonable.
Liberty at Rutgers                                              12:00pm                  BTN
Liberty is playing for bowl eligibility against the oldest program in FBS here in college football year 150. What a horrible world. If you feel like watching this for some reason, Antonio Gandy-Golden needs 123 yards to get to 1,000 for the season.
Miami (FL) at Pitt                                                 12:00pm                ESPN
Miami has only won one conference game this year and it was against Coastal power Vir.... v-vv-v-vvvvv.... Vir... Virginia. LOL. This ain’t your daddy’s ACC! It’s as bad as it used to be but now there are more teams. If the Canes win they’re right back in the race to get humiliated by Clemson on the way to a large bowl payout.
Southern Miss at Rice                                         1:00pm                 ESPN+
Rice is on the road to 0-12. Southern Miss is bad but has a QB in the top 10 nationally for pass efficiency. If you’re in the mood to make weird money put something down on the Fightin’ Favres -10.
Nevada at Wyoming                                             2:00pm                 ATTSN
Great off-brand west coast football that is only available if you have DirecTV or if you bootleg your sports.
Ohio at Ball State                                                  2:00pm                ESPN+
Tumblr media
WKU at Marshall                                                      2:30pm               Facebook
Pound the over in this game that you shouldn’t watch unless you work for the NSA. I love the C-USA but don’t countenance using facebook for anything.
New Mexico State at Georgia Southern                 3:00pm               ESPN3
This is passable alternate programming but there’s something much better starting 30 minutes later.
Tulane at Navy                                                          3:30pm              CBSSN
Malcolm Perry has turned things up a notch in recent weeks but I still feel unsatisfied with the Middies and think just enough of Tulane to recommend taking them +3.5. I definitely think o/u 57 is too low.
Maryland at 17 Minnesota                                        3:30pm             ESPN
All year long the dozens of people that pay attention to Minnesota football have been saying they’re the worst undefeated team in the country. If the Gophers want to live up to their reputation, Maryland is exactly the type of team they should lose against at home.
UConn at UMass                                                        3:30pm  FloSports / NESN
I don’t think about UMass football very often. Can they really be so bad that +10 to UConn is justified? That is breathtakingly awful.
Virginia at Louisville                                                  3:30pm           ACCN
If Virginia can get past the imposingly average Louisville Cardinals they may effectively have the Coastal Division locked up before we get to November. That’s not usually the way things work for Virginia in particular or the ACC in general.
15 Texas at TCU                                                          3:30pm           FOX
This is bullshit.
Syracuse at Florida State                                           3:30pm         ESPN2
We’re pretty close to the twentieth anniversary of this matchup becoming almost completely worthless. Now that both programs are just barely hovering above the dirtline it’s exceptionally worthless.
6 Penn State at Michigan State                                  3:30pm          ABC
Tumblr media
Oklahoma State at 23 Iowa State                                3:30pm          FS1
Iowa State at -10.5 seems dicey as hell to me but my faith in Chuba Hubbard is as unshakable as my faith in Oklahoma State overall is built on a foundation of sand.
North Texas at Charlotte                                              3:30pm        ESPN+
UNT UNT UNT. That’s all.
Miami (Ohio) at Kent State                                           3:30pm        ESPN+
Boy, look at all this MACtion.
Indiana at Nebraska                                                      3:30pm         BTN
Indiana opened as a favorite on the road at Nebraska. Huskers aren’t making it back to prominence without the kind of violent criminal element that made the program great to begin with.
FIU at Middle Tennessee                                               3:30pm        NFLN
FlInt’l is favored by 2.5 to get their first win on the road. This game is on NFL Network because Butch Davis used to work for them.
Eastern Michigan at Toledo                                           3:30pm        ESPN+
Central Michigan at Buffalo                                           3:30pm       ESPN+
9 Auburn at 2 LSU                                                          3:30pm        CBS
What if Joe Burrow throws three 4th quarter INT touchdowns? That would be a great tribute/way to announce he’s quitting the Heisman race.
Tumblr media
Arizona at Stanford                                                     3:30pm         Pac-12N
This is probably as bad as anything the MAC could throw at you. Fortunately for most of you, there’s no way for you to see this game legally.
Akron at NIU                                                                3:30pm           ESPN3
Awful.
Florida Atlantic at Old Dominion                               3:30pm            ESPN+
I’m really looking forward to Urban Meyer spurning FSU and having them end up hiring Lane Kiffin. We’re probably 8 weeks away from that.
USF at East Carolina                                                   3:45pm          ESPNU
A lot of times a confluence of factors gives a certain matchup a bittersweet, melancholic tinge. This is the saddest game of the year so far.
Duke at North Carolina                                                4:00pm            RSN
On the one hand I don’t really like UNC at all. On the other hand I want them to win this game by 65. This is the scrappiest piece of shit game you will not see at all today.
South Carolina at Tennessee                                      4:00pm            SECN
This game is also a total piece of shit but Tennessee is not scrappy at all. They will quit at a moment’s notice.
Hawaii at New Mexico                                         4:00pm  Spectrum PPV / MWN
Hawaii is favored by 10. The o/u of 71 is tough but I bet the Rainbow Warriors hold up things on their side.
Arkansas at 1 Alabama                                                7:00pm           ESPN
Are you ready for the Mac Jones Era to start? Tua Tagovailoa is out for at least this game and the line has dropped from 35 to 31.5. Great chance for Arkansas to not lose by as much as we all expect them to lose. Could be huge for the program that has lost 15 conference games in a row. It’s not every week a coach can tie a record held by the great Bret Beilema.
Memphis at Tulsa                                                         7:00pm           CBSSN
Gainwell! RTARLsman! I’m good with stats and I’m expecting Kenny Gainwell to get about 105 yards rushing and 364 yards receiving. Book it.
Texas Tech at Kansas                                                  7:00pm             FS1
Lawrence at night, one of college football’s most magical venues. the line is creeping down as bettors realize the homefield advantage for the Jayhawks is, uh, almost equal to the badness of Texas Tech. Almost!
UCF at Temple                                                              7:00pm          ESPN2
Temple got pretty lucky to beat Memphis (bad turnovers, bad call late) and now they’re going to need some more magic to stay alive in the AAC race. A major bowl is probably out of the question for both of these teams at this point but this should still be pretty entertaining, even if UCF is pretty heavily favored for a road conference game.
Texas State at Arkansas State                                     7:00pm          ESPN+
There is a huge buzz of disinterest surrounding this game.
Troy at Georgia State                                                    7:00pm          ESPN+
I don’t have a great handle on the goings on in the Sun Belt but Troy opened as the favorite here. That’s kind of weird, right? Even now Georgia State is only favored because of hometown bump.
Boston College at 4 Clemson                                       7:30pm           ACCN
Boston College is about due for a massive upset, aren’t they? No? Yeah, no.
Colorado State at Fresno State                                     7:30pm         ESPNU
Actually kind of fun in theory but I’m not gonna watch it. This is true football degeneracy in action.
Missouri at Kentucky                                                     7:30pm          SECN
Kentucky is still playing that WR at quarterback but I still want to put money on them +10. Because Missouri isn’t great, either.
8 Notre Dame at 19 Michigan                                        7:30pm          ABC
This is a pick ‘em? Is Notre Dame really exposed to that level? I’m rooting for Michigan in this one but Notre Dame is gonna beat them by like 50, right?
24 Arizona State at UCLA                                              7:30pm         Pac-12N
Arizona State got killed last week and hung in the top 25. There are not 25 good teams this year.
Louisiana Tech at UTEP                                                8:00pm         ESPN3
UTEP, it turns out, is very bad. If you want to be a good degenerate you’re gonna need some hooch and a rooting interest in one of these teams beating the 20.5 point line. Louisiana Tech is the easy pick but live an exciting life in your underwear, alone on your couch.
California at 12 Utah                                                     10:00pm           FS1
If there’s a prop on the number of plays run in this game take the under. I am going to absolutely love this one.
Utah State at Air Force                                                  10:15pm        ESPN2
I still have no idea what to think of Jordan Love. I don’t think he’s great but what if he ends up in San Francisco? He definitely hasn’t lived up to the preseason hype but we’ve got at least one recent example of that not mattering at all with a “small school” prospect. Air Force is a weird environment and a true homefield advantage. Maybe Love can get off some lasers and hang around as a top prospect for the 2020 draft.
San Diego State at UNLV                                               10:30pm       CBSSN
SDSU is starting to pick up steam and UNLV is mostly a speedbump of a team so go for that -12.5 if you’re feeling lively.
Washington State at 11 Oregon                                     10:30pm        ESPN
For all of the tank for Tua hype there’s still a realistic shot that the much taller, much stronger armed Oregon QB Justin Herbert goes #1 overall in 2020. The Ducks are probably the Pac-12′s only outside shot at a playoff appearance this year but they aren’t quite so good that I’d feel safe putting money on them even now. Autzen isn’t as intimidating as it used to be and Washington State still has some punch left even if they have been a huge disappointment this season.

Georgia’s Long Lines – The New York Times
Want to get The Morning by email? Here’s the sign-up.
Good morning. Republicans are considering their own police reforms. Brazil’s president is threatening a military takeover. And Georgia’s primary was a mess.
Chloe Mexile Benard got in line to vote in the Atlanta suburbs at 7:30 a.m. yesterday, according to The Guardian. She did not vote until almost noon.
Marneia Mitchell, a stationery designer in Atlanta, was starting her fourth hour of waiting in line when she told The Times, “It’s despicable.”
And Greg Bluestein, a politics reporter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, called yesterday’s primary elections in Georgia “like nothing we’ve ever experienced.”
In several counties around Atlanta, voting machines malfunctioned, and thin staffing because of the coronavirus left fewer poll workers to deal with it. As a result, many Georgia residents had to choose between enduring hours in line or losing their right to vote.
Yesterday’s problems were worse than usual — partly a result of recently bought voting machines — but were also part of a much larger issue. In no other affluent country do citizens regularly have as hard a time voting as they do in the United States. Most of our elections are held on workdays, and a shortage of election equipment and workers often forces people to wait in long lines.
The waits tend to be longest for African-Americans. One study of the 2016 election, using smartphone location data, found that voters in black neighborhoods waited 29 percent longer on average than voters in white neighborhoods.
And as was the case in the 1950s and ’60s, Georgia has again become a battleground over voting rights. In the 2018 midterms, the state had the country’s longest waiting times, according to a Bipartisan Policy Center analysis. Republicans in Georgia, who control most of the state government, have frequently opposed efforts by Democrats to make voting more accessible.
It was not fully clear why yesterday’s lines were worse in the Atlanta area than elsewhere in Georgia. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, blamed local officials — who are heavily Democratic — and said they had not properly trained election workers. Local officials, in turn, blamed him, saying he had not provided adequate training resources. Virus fears among election workers and high turnout, after George Floyd’s killing, may also have played a role.
“No corner of the state had a fully functional voting experience,” The Times reported. Michael McDonald, an elections expert at the University of Florida, wrote: “I have never seen the scale of election failures happening in Georgia today. This does not bode well for November.”
In yesterday’s election results:
THREE MORE BIG STORIES
1. Republicans respond to police violence
Senate Republican leaders have assigned Tim Scott of South Carolina, their only black member, to lead the drafting of legislation that conservatives could rally behind.
Republicans face a dilemma: For decades, they have built an image as tough on crime, and it has helped them win many elections, often by winning the votes of whites who previously voted Democratic. But public opinion has shifted significantly, amid growing video evidence of police brutality and racism, and Republicans are trying to figure out how much to change their stance. For now, several congressional Republicans have changed their tone but not yet supported new policies.
In other politics news:
President Trump floated a false theory that a 75-year-old man in Buffalo who had been knocked to the ground by the police was “an ANTIFA provocateur.”
A group of white counterprotesters in New Jersey, appearing in front of a pro-Trump sign, mocked Floyd’s death, with one man kneeling on the neck of another who was facedown on the ground. One of the counterprotesters was a corrections officers and was quickly suspended.
Democrats are increasing their pressure on Joe Biden to pick a black running mate.
2. Funeral for George Floyd
Two weeks after Floyd died at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, he was laid to rest in Houston, in a grave next to his mother’s. Two rows of police officers saluted as Floyd’s coffin went past. (The Times recently profiled Floyd’s life.)
As the service began, the New York Stock Exchange went silent for eight minutes, 46 seconds — the length of time a police officer held his knee on Floyd’s neck. It was the longest moment of silence on the stock exchange floor in its 228-year history.
3. The threat to Brazil’s democracy
Daily coronavirus deaths in Brazil are now the highest in the world. Investors are fleeing. And President Jair Bolsonaro and his allies are under investigation.
In response to the chaos, Bolsonaro is raising the prospect of military intervention to protect his grip on power — an ominous prospect for a country that was under a military dictatorship as recently as the 1980s.
More on the virus: A Times graphic compares the death toll to the toll from historical disasters.
Here’s what else is happening
The founder of CrossFit, Greg Glassman, has resigned, after BuzzFeed News published the details of a call with gym owners in which he maligned Floyd and shared coronavirus conspiracy theories.
Paramount Television canceled “Cops,” the once-popular reality show that ran for 33 seasons and that civil rights groups criticized for its portrayal of African-Americans. Separately, HBO pulled “Gone With the Wind” from its new streaming service, but pledged to bring back the 1939 film that romanticizes the Civil War-era South “with a discussion of its historical context.”
Lives lived: Bonnie Pointer was there at the creation, when she and her siblings decided to form a vocal group called simply the Pointer Sisters. But before the 1970s were out, she had left the group to pursue a solo career. And then they hit it big, without her. She has died at 69.
BACK STORY: Facial recognition
IBM announced this week that it opposes using facial recognition for mass surveillance and racial profiling. We talked to our colleague Shira Ovide, who writes The Times’s On Tech newsletter, about the problems with the technology.
“Facial recognition is terrible at identifying people with darker skin,” Shira said, pointing out that some research found it has no better than a 50-50 chance. “And there’s a dangerous tendency to over-rely on this kind of technology, even when it’s not accurate.”
She added: “We don’t know when facial recognition is misused. What if law enforcement agencies use it to identify people who are attending peaceful protests, like the ones happening now? Do we want to live in a surveillance state where everyone is in a vast database and we can be identified on sight at a massive scale?” That, of course, is the situation that China’s government is trying to create.
PLAY, WATCH, EAT, STREAM
How to feed a crowd
A key part of the Sikh religion is providing free meals as an act of faith, and many gurdwaras — the places of worship for Sikhs — have large kitchens, ample numbers of volunteers and regular food donations from community members. Some gurdwaras serve more than 100,000 people every day.
This tradition has enabled Sikh communities across the U.S. to respond to the increase in hunger caused by the pandemic, while many food banks have struggled, Priya Krishna writes.
Reckonings in culture
In the publishing world, a viral hashtag this week encouraged black and nonblack authors to compare their pay, in an effort to highlight inequality. One example: A white science fiction writer said he had received $3.4 million for 13 books — more than $260,000 per novel — while a black female author said she had received $25,000 for each installment of her award-winning science fiction trilogy.
In theater, more than 300 artists — including stars like Viola Davis and Lin-Manuel Miranda — published a statement that outlined how artists of color are unjustly treated.
A guide to TV streaming bundles
Inspired by this clever interactive from Bloomberg about the best streaming bundles, we asked Adrienne Maxwell, an editor at Wirecutter, to offer advice to anyone who’s gotten rid of cable television or is thinking of doing so:
When trying to decide whether or not to cut the cord and what services to subscribe to, I think the first question anyone should ask is whether they still want access to live TV and, especially, sports. Hardcore fans who love to watch a variety of sports and want access to their local affiliate broadcasts are probably better off sticking with cable.
If live TV is not something you care about, then it really does come down to personal viewing preferences. The beauty of streaming is that you aren’t locked into a contract, so you can subscribe to one service for a couple months, get caught up on their exclusive content that you love, then cancel and switch to another service.
But if you’re more of a “set it once and forget it” type, I’d say some combination of Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ is likely to be the most satisfying for the most people.
Here is Wirecutter’s more detailed guide.

Hello World
Tumblr media
Wednesday December 18, 2019 1:02pm - Atlanta
It’s weird to be writing personally but here it goes: This is Reflections, an opportunity for me to write about whatever’s on my mind delivered straight to your inbox, on Tumblr (finally found a use for it lmao), and on andrewokwuosah.com every weekday evening.
Practically, this is an opportunity for me to build an email list that I can use to achieve world domination a way to promote myself without needing to rely on social media if something were to happen to my presence on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and the like. Even if you do end up reading these posts on Tumblr or .com on a daily basis, I implore you to subscribe to receive this in your inbox since I’ll be posting secret links only in the email version of this newsletter like early access to content, discount codes, and other surprises that you’ll just have to be subscribed to find out about.
Personally though, this is an opportunity to rejuvenate the habit I once had of writing on a consistent basis in a non-academic context. Sometimes this newsletter will pertain to current events but the goal is that these newsletters are something that you can read today or a year from now and still draw something from it whether it’s a story, an analysis or something, or just me ranting about something. The goal is for this to feel like my diary because well it pretty much is. Aside from my bullet journal where I plan out my daily tasks and plan out specific products, this is the place to go for my thoughts in a format that’s longer than a tweet. I’ll also be closing these newsletters with recommendations on things to watch, listen to, do, or check out around the Internet.
Speaking of personality though, I should probably introduce myself if you’re somehow stumbling onto this without knowing who I am. I’m Andrew Okwuosah, a sophomore at Georgia State University studying journalism based in Atlanta. In my spare time, I consume and create a ton of content from the mixes on Andijack Music to photos and videos around the Interwebs. Did I mention that I tweet… a lot. Like more than President Trump.
Thanks for reading this far, and I hope to see ya tomorrow. Feel free to reply to this email, leave a comment, or tweet at me if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or topics you want me to reflect on in a future newsletter.
Onward,
Andrew Okwuosah

The least successful people I know run in conflicting directions, drawn to distractions, say yes to almost everything and are chained to emotional obstacles. The most successful people I know have a narrow focus, protect against time-wasters, say no to almost everything and have let go of old limiting beliefs.”

Time for an embarrassing story. Just for your entertainment.
While we’re all sitting here quarantined, or sheltered-in-place, or whatever you may be doing, we’re all looking for entertainment and content in some form or fashion. There’s only so far you can get into Netflix before kid’s shows and obscure anime start to look appealing, so we’re going to try to regale you all with a story of self-deprecation and a little Auburn football.
Let’s go back to 2009. November 14th. The scene? Athens, Georgia. Sanford Stadium. Kickoff was a 7 o’clock affair between the hedges as Auburn came in at 7-3 in Gene Chizik’s first season. Do you remember the fun of that season as Auburn started 5-0 and rolled into the rankings behind Gus Malzahn’s offense and an opportunistic defense?
2009 began with the Gus offense fooling ESPN cameras with motion, end-arounds, pump fakes, and more as the Tigers dispatched Louisiana Tech and Mississippi State. Game three was the rain-soaked epic against West Virginia, where Auburn came back from an early deficit and forced four fourth-quarter turnovers on the way to a 41-30 victory over Noel Devine and company.
After an easy Saturday night against Ball State, Auburn hit Knoxville for the first road game of the year and a tilt against Lane Kiffin. Auburn controlled the action from start to finish, and the Vols never really threatened, as Ben Tate destroyed Eric Berry’s night and the Tigers improved to 5-0.
Tumblr media
Things were great. Auburn was rolling, and the mirth and merry-making that only a successful football can produce were rampant on campus. Unfortunately, since we were less than a year removed from Tommy Tuberville’s reign, some of his tendencies remained in the football program, and we had a stinker against Arkansas the next week. Ryan Mallett tore us up, we limped home, and the hangover lingered for the next two games.
A cold night at home led to a tepid loss to Kentucky (c’mon, guys) and then we couldn’t handle ourselves in Baton Rouge, where Chris Todd threw for only 47 yards and Auburn fell behind 24-0 before giving up and falling 31-10. Things were fine the next week at home in a win over Ole Miss (maybe the most complete win of the season) and then the next week as Furman came for the annual paycheck game.
7-3. Not bad for Gene Chizik’s first year. “We want a leader, not a loser!” had not begin to ring true yet. The airport screamer’s fears weren’t yet realized. Chizik had formed what looked like a great staff, with recruiters and motivators galore, as well as the then revolutionary mind of Malzahn running the offense. We didn’t see the cracks in the staff yet, and we weren’t quite aware of what would bring the team down three seasons later, but in year one, it was pretty good. After the first losing season since Tuberville’s first year, we would take success in any form. Especially since Alabama was sitting at #1 in the polls in Nick Saban’s third season. We needed something, man. Chizik and company began to give that to us.
So, it brings us to November 14th. Auburn hadn’t had an open week yet, playing ten straight games to begin the season. With the year starting on September 5th, teams would only get one off week in a twelve-game season. It was a rough stretch, but with Auburn not having a break yet, the team was likely feeling the bumps and bruises a little more than other schools around the league.
Georgia wasn’t particularly great that season, either. After the year when they were supposed to dominate — 2008 saw the Dawgs sit at #1 before they got whacked by Alabama — they’d been middle of the road in 2009. Mark Richt’s team beat who they should and lost to who they should. In the end, both Auburn and Georgia would finish at 8-5 in 2009. Both schools were sporting serviceable, but not special quarterbacks, very good running backs, and average wide receivers.
The game? Not so exciting, at least not in my unassisted memory. My friends and I climbed to the top of the upper deck — last row — and sat next to a Georgia fan who aggressively did the Shawne Merriman Lights Out celebration with every little victory for the Dawgs:
Tumblr media
It was a lot.
I had to find the box score to remember exactly what happened in the game. The only lasting image that came to me was Demond Washington’s kickoff return touchdown —
— that tied the game at 24-all after Auburn initially went up 14-0 and lost that lead. Apparently Caleb King scored twice in the fourth quarter, and Auburn didn’t have the answer offensively afterward. We lost 31-24. Okay. Whatever, that was now four straight defeats at the hand of the Bulldogs. Mark Richt had our number.
So, what do we do after a loss? Well, if the 2009 meeting in Athens was any indication, we meet with the entire population of the whole world in “The World’s Greatest College Town” and go drink. I think I saw everyone I ever knew that night at different bars in Athens, and we were all drinking like it was the end of the world. Keep in mind that I was only born in 1989, so if you’re not a Georgia grad, you can do your math and figure out that I was not yet of the legal age to consume alcohol. More on that in a moment.
When we left the stadium, we had no idea which direction to head to find our friends. This was before the days of smart phones, and you had to rely on getting a signal for a phone call so that you could somewhat coherently describe your location to someone else in hopes of finding them. The plan was to meet downtown for food and some sort of healing dark liquor. Downtown is north of the stadium, so naturally, we wandered south instead.
Here’s our general route:
Tumblr media
Eventually, we made it downtown, but not before walking an extra mile or two and complaining the entire way. The memory of the next few hours involves drowning our sorrows at the Boars Head Lounge and then seeing Brandon Cox and telling him that he wouldn’t have lost to Georgia that night. Somehow my intoxicated brain remembered only the 2005 game in Athens — still somehow the last time we’ve won there — and did not remember the eight (EIGHT) combined interceptions he threw in his last two games against Georgia.
Anyway, it made me feel better. Somehow, though, it got to be late! Imagine that. We endured too long drinking, and now we needed to eat and go home. The process was real, Nick Saban would be proud. So, we head down the road, make our way to Lumpkin Street, and start walking back in the general direction of the house where we were staying. I was told that we’d get ourselves some McDonald’s before crashing, but I’d never get to indulge my late-night craving.
We’re walking, and I feel a particular need to relieve a certain biological pressure. Whatever, I can hold it until we get home. How long will that be? Two more miles? Nope, going to have to pull off the sidewalk and find a dark spot to take care of business.
Enter the Zell B. Miller Learning Center and it’s nooks/crannies.
Tumblr media
A campus building that won’t have many people around it? Away from the heart of downtown? Perfect. I asked my group of friends to hang on a second and I skipped back into the dark corners, did my business, and came back to the street to find that they had not waited for me. They were at least two hundred yards ahead, not even noticing that I was absent.
I shouldn’t have gotten cocky, but fortune seemed to deal me a hand that should have played out splendidly. We’d been walking all day, and I was still breaking in the new pair of cowboy boots I was wearing, so my feet were a little sore. I wasn’t pleased about the likelihood of having to speedwalk/jog to catch up with them, especially in my drunken state. And what do you know? I was given a gift from the gods.
I look down into the bushes right in front of the Learning Center, and there’s a rusty, derelict bicycle underneath some foliage. In my mind, I’m going to hop on, speed down the sidewalk, catch my friends, perform a fantastic dismount, and continue along the way.
Tumblr media
In reality, I picked up the bike, swung one leg over it, and instantly the wash of blue lights came over me. A police cruiser careened across the road, hopped the curb, and hit me with the floodlight and loudspeaker.
“YOU. ON THE BIKE. DISMOUNT NOW.”
For one wild moment, I considered running. I could’ve disappeared into the darkness of campus and I would’ve gotten away...
Tumblr media
Instead, I stayed put. They’d been watching that bait bike and had me like they got several other dumb kids that weekend. I let them come up and start the interrogation.
In typical fashion, the officer asked me if I’d been drinking. What did I say?
Tumblr media
Somehow, he saw right through that, and he threw me in the cherrytop.
So now I’m on the way to the Athens Clarke County Detention Center. On the ride, the cop proceeds to ask if I went to Auburn (“Yes sir”), and then to tell me all about his wild days when he was at Georgia, and how he probably should’ve been in the back of a cop car multiple times.
We arrive at the jail. Washed out floodlights fill the parking lot behind a tall chain link fence. It’s a desolate place. Doors open with a loud clank and a buzzer. The fluorescent lighting reveals bags under every eye inside. A bunch of portly cops shuffle around moving as slowly as possible to start the processing. Fingerprints. Mugshot (it’s probably available somewhere online).
My one phone call. Here’s the secret — you actually get as many phone calls as it takes to get the wheels turning to get you out of jail. They just want your money, they don’t want you there any longer than you have to be there. Not really knowing what to do, I called my parents, at 3 AM CST in Montgomery, Alabama. Surprisingly, the phone only rang a couple times before my dad picked up with a surly “What’d you do?”
After that, I happened to call the first bail bondsmen listed in the directory.
Tumblr media
That gave me a chuckle. After confirmation that they were processing me, I got to go sit in the drunk tank and wait.
Concrete walls, concrete toilet, concrete water fountain, and metal benches. They took my boots and jacket, and tossed me in with five other college kids. One guy immediately started crying. Another kept talking about how his dad was going to come beat up the cops. One was passed out drunk and never woke up the entire time. I sat there about two hours before my buddy arrived with the bail bondsmen. After seeing who else had been in jail, I started to believe that I was the toughest inmate in the entire place that night. That was before I walked past the other holding cell, where two 6’6, 250-pound men were pushing each other back and forth in the middle of the cell with several other giant guys egging them on. Reality check.
At this point, the sun’s thinking about coming up. We pay the guy $300, and I’m free. A couple hours later, I’ve showered, washed the jail smell off me, and have my marching orders to return in a couple months to appear before the judge. Fun.
Now, the same night that I had would’ve won me a simple ticket in Auburn, and certainly nothing aside from a small fine. In the end, I paid what amounted to a couple months’ rent in fines to the state of Georgia, had to perform community service, and check in with a probation officer for six months.
Tumblr media
That Sunday night when I got back to my apartment in Auburn, someone showed me a news article that said something like 50 college kids had been arrested overall that weekend in Athens. I paid my fine and served my nickel at the humane society feeding puppies and hosing out kennels.
I guess the moral of the story is, go to Athens, and you’ll end up cleaning dog shit.

The Linc - ESPN predicts Nick Foles will end up on the Jaguars
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...
Ten bold NFL predictions for 2019 season: Landing spots for Le’Veon, Foles - ESPN 1. The Jaguars will acquire Nick Foles, somehow, but still miss the playoffs. This is not to diminish the talents of Mr. Foles, and woe unto the rest of the AFC South if those teams let him hang in contention until mid-December. But the Jaguars team we predict Foles to be joining is not of the same caliber as the Eagles teams for which he performed his late-season and postseason magic the past two years. I believe the Eagles will work with Foles and allow him to have some say in where he ends up. I also believe they’re wary of him ending up in the NFC East with Washington or the Giants, and directing him to a faraway AFC destination like Jacksonville will be more appealing to Howie Roseman & Co. Jacksonville’s hiring of former Eagles QBs coach John DeFilippo as offensive coordinator could make the Jags appealing to Foles as well.
What the Eagles should do at linebacker - BGN If the Eagles don’t retain Hicks, they’ll need a new starting linebacker alongside Bradham. One free agent with a connection to the Eagles is Bradham’s former teammate, Preston Brown. Jim Schwartz trusted Brown enough to have the rookie start 14 games at linebacker for the Bills in 2014. He remained as a full-time in Buffalo before joining the Bengals as a free agent on a one-year, $5 million deal worth $2 million guaranteed in 2018. Cincinnati placed Brown on injured reserve in late November due to a knee injury. With the Bengals bringing in a new coaching staff, the 26-year-old Brown could be looking for a new home that offers familiarity. The Eagles might be able to get him on a one-year, “prove it” deal.
The Kist & Solak Show #76: The Sort of Super Bowl Recap - BGN Radio Michael Kist and Benjamin Solak kind of recap the Super Bowl, touching on the play of Jared Goff and the defensive gameplan from the Patriots, plus a bunch of draft talk because it’s officially the offseason! Powered by SB Nation and Bleeding Green Nation.
Previewing the Eagles’ next calendar year, in stick figure form - PhillyVoice Let’s see if we can get back in the win column this year.
Carson Confirms He’s Human - Iggles Blitz I think Carson handled this situation wisely. He addressed this in a timely fashion. He wasn’t defensive. He didn’t come off as holier than thou. The next year is going to be really interesting for Carson Wentz. He’s going to have a lot of pressure on him to play well and carry the team. He needs to show he can stay healthy and actually make it to the postseason. Carson also will be under a microscope when it comes to incidents. If he is seen looking frustrated at a teammate, that will lead to speculation. If he gives a coach a funny look, some will question that. If Carson and the Eagles have a terrific season in 2019, all of this nonsense will go away.
Carson Wentz opens up about controversial article, relationship with Eagles teammates - The Athletic As for his on-field performance, Wentz was the 12th-ranked quarterback in the league in the all-encompassing metrics like QBR, DVOA and ANY/A. As we’ve pointed out previously, his numbers were strikingly similar to Foles’. Wentz’s accuracy was actually better than it was in 2017, but the improvisational plays he’s accustomed to making outside of the structure of the offense were not available to him. During the interview, Wentz acknowledged that he never felt quite like himself in 2018. “It’s a process,” Wentz said. “As far as injury prevention, I felt great. I didn’t feel – I felt confident, all those things – but as far as being explosive and all those things, I never quite, and I’m not going to use it as an excuse by any means, but I watched the tape from two years ago, you watch last year, you can say I wasn’t quite there as far as mobility stuff. And that’s something I’ll keep working through. And everyone says it’s an 18-month, two-year thing to get really feeling strong again and back to normal. It’s getting better. It’s going to keep getting better. And I don’t think we’ll worry about hopefully either of these injuries going forward.”
Complete transcript of Carson Wentz’s conversation with select media - NBCSP “I heard it that morning. John (Gonoude from Eagles PR) actually sent it over to me and I was, like, I just read it and I was a little confused, I guess. It’s never obviously fun to read your name being thrown around like that, but at the end of the day, try not to stress about it too much and let the media or the perception of others dictate who I am. I know who I am, first of all. I know how I carry myself, I know I’m not perfect, I know I have flaws. So I’m not going to sit here and say it was inaccurate and completely made up, I’m not going to do that. But at the end of the day, I will say our locker room is really close. If there were guys that had issues, in hindsight, I wish we could have just talked about them. But, again, I don’t know how that all happened and everything with that. Again, it’s never fun to read, but to extent, you look at it and be like, ‘well, if someone did have this perception of me, why? What have I done wrong? What can I get better at? I realize I have my shortcomings. Yes, I can be selfish. I think we all have selfishness inside of us. There’s human elements to that, that I really look at and say, ‘well, I can get better.’ I always say I can be better on the field, off the field, how I carry myself. But I didn’t want to make it bigger than … I think everyone probably ran with it different ways and I just kind of said, ‘look, I’m just going to live my life out here and I’m going to let that kind of shape out how it may.’ Honestly, I haven’t really read what’s been happening since. Again, it’s not fun to read, but you try to take what you can from it and be better, I guess.”
Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz says his personality ‘ain’t going to change,’ and it shouldn’t - Inquirer The QB has already proven he has what it takes to thrive. Are there minor modifications he can make? Absolutely. But authenticity matters most in an NFL locker room.
Fans Encouraged To Support Second Annual Carson Wentz Softball Game - PE.com The 2nd Annual AO1 Charity Softball Game benefiting The Carson Wentz AO1 Foundation takes place on May 31 at Citizens Bank Park. Tickets go on sale through the website AO1Foundation.org on February 7. The family-friendly event begins with a home run derby at 6:30 p.m. followed by a game between members of the Eagles playing on opposing teams at 7:30 p.m.
Jay Ajayi updates progress on ACL rehab - CBS Sports Jay Ajayi is just four months removed from ACL surgery, which ended his season with the Philadelphia Eagles and hindered his opportunity for a big payday on the free agent market. Ajayi will be forced to sign a “prove it” deal in order to restore his value in 2019, a year which he likely won’t be 100 percent until October (but still should be ready for the start of the season). Spotrac has started to project market values for all the free agents out there, which Ajayi comes in at $3.6 million per season. Needless to say, Ajayi is working towards getting that contract. The Eagles running back updated his progress in his ACL rehab, jumping up on a step...three days shy of four months to the day he tore his ACL.
February All-Sleeper Team - The Draft Network RB: Elijah Holyfield, Georgia: I just got eyes on Holyfield a couple of days ago — boy, am I glad I did! Holyfield has gotten sparse attention in Draft circles that see him as the blip on the radar between Georgia’s two stud backs of the 2018 cycle — Nick Chubb and Super Bowl champion Sony Michel — and their rising junior star in D’Andre Swift. But Holyfield is a strong runner in his own right — and in this class, that’s enough to vault him to my RB2 slot, which ruffled more than a few feathers when I publicized the ranking. He carries a mid/late second-round grade off of his film, and is a fringe Top-50 player, but he offers the only bellcow profile I’ve seen in this class besides Alabama’s Josh Jacobs. He just never saw that opportunity in the Bulldog backfield. Holyfield wins with sweet feet, as he remains tethered to the ground through sharp and explosive cuts. He can string together moves, load his lower half to deliver a powerful shot, or pick up steam in a hurry when attacking the outside. His meager pass-catching usage is harrowing, but there’s no reason to believe he can’t handle more targets and catches — and for teams that don’t heavily feature their backs in the passing game, or already have a strong pass-catching back — Holyfield makes sense as the “thunder” in a 2-part backfield.
Choiceology: Season 2 Episode 7 - Schwab Seeing as it’s Super Bowl season, it seemed like a good time to revisit last year’s contest as a case study in decision making. The 2018 Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles played incredibly well against the formidable New England Patriots. The game could have gone either way, but the Eagles had a secret weapon that gave them an advantage. We speak with Michael Kist from Bleeding Green Nation on the Eagles’ integration of computer models for decision making both on and off the field. You’ll hear the story of how those models were temporarily abandoned and the team struggled before re-embracing them.
Bengals hiring James Casey and Ben Martin, per report - Cincy Jungle Zac Taylor is wasting no time in finding who will be on his staff with the Bengals. Not long after Taylor was hired as the team’s next coach, Field Yates of ESPN reported that Houston Cougars tight ends coach James Casey was joining Taylor’s staff. The team is also hiring Ben Martin, an offensive line coach from Bryant University. Casey is someone you may be familiar with, as he enjoyed a productive career with the Houston Texans from 2009-12, then with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013-14. He ended his career following a one-year stint with the Denver Broncos in 2015.
Connor Barwin release made official by Giants - Big Blue View The Giants made the release of Connor Barwin official on Monday. Barwin had said last week via social media that he would not be a Giant in 2019. Releasing the 32-year-old saves the Giants $1.5 million against the 2019 salary cap. The 10-year veteran had a career-low one sack in 2018.
The Rams Went All In to Beat the Patriots—and It Still Wasn’t Enough - The Ringer Sean McVay’s team exemplified the tenets of modern team building in their run to Super Bowl LIII. They just learned the lesson that’s defined this decade in the NFL.
It’s okay to admit that the Super Bowl wasn’t a good game - SB Nation There are those who want you to believe that Super Bowl LIII was a good game. But... was it? Or are we putting lipstick on a pig for a game that had all the drama of a Week 4 Jets-Dolphins game on a Thursday night? The praise is coming from everywhere, sources both credible in their knowledge of the game of football and not.

Turn Up the Music in Studio – Dec’18 Mix
As 2018 comes to a close, we normally find ourselves in a bit of a lull as our clients start shuttering projects for the holiday season … that behavior isn’t too crazy as there are parties and trips to take and between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, and everyone seems to have a lot going on. This is fairly normal for a residential architecture firm, except this year we are busier this November and December then we have ever been and as a result, I have been digging deeper and deeper into my studio playlist to keep myself energized as I put in some longer than normal hours.
One thing that brings me great happiness is when I play something that few people have ever heard of before … and they like it. With the current mix of people in my office, playing something that nobody has heard before is depressingly easy (they irreverently claim “youth” as the main reason they have never heard of the music I play for them) but I still think finding something that they like is a worthy goal.
So combine longer hours at the office with my goal of finding and playing music that exposes my office to something they enjoy and you get my current playlist …which I’d guess achieved a ±90% “I’ve never heard this before” rating.
Maybe you’ll fare better and have heard some of these songs before… or not. Okay, let’s get to it.
youtube
All Them Witches – Charles William While they are musically categorized as a “Metal” band, don’t let that fool you or put you off. Sure, they play loud at times but I have never wanted to whip my hair around or hold a lighter up during one of their songs. My typical response is that I do whatever it is I’m doing a little bit faster than I was previously.
I have two things about this video that might provide additional entertainment value to the song … First: Watch the right leg of the drummer, it’ll help show you how the bass drum is driving the beat. If you were me, you will also get a kick at the pattern of the hi-hat. Second: Stick around to the 2:30-minute mark and you’ll see what a rock-n-roll band looks like.
youtube
Bonus Track – When God Comes Back I don’t know many metal bands that play with a Rhodes keyboard, this seems more like stoner rock to me. Either way, if this song is playing while you’re working out, go ahead and slide an extra 40lbs onto the bench press, you’ll be able to lift it.
youtube
Matt Simons – I’m Already Over You Matt received his college degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance and you can definitely hear the jazz influence in his music. While this is probably not his most popular song, I like the keyboard … a trend I noticed that makes an appearance on a few of the songs on today’s list.
youtube
Leon Bridges – Coming Home Hailing from my backyard in Fort Worth, Texas, Leon Bridges has a great throwback sound and a wonderfully smooth voice that is reminiscent of 1950’s crooners Otis Redding and Sam Cooke.
youtube
Bonus Track – Smooth Sailing From the genius that is the NPR “Tiny Desk” series, in this song you can get a better feeling for just how good a voice Leon Bridges actually has –
youtube
Passafire – Submersible I only recently discovered Passafire and for the last several months, they’ve figured heavily into my playlist rotation. Formed in 2003, they are a reggae band made up from students that were attending the Savanah College of Art and Design … that’s right, it’s a reggae band from Georgia … that makes total sense.
If you want to get your groove on, this is a good group to put on your radar.
youtube
Agnes Obel – Familiar Another new artist for me – I originally discovered her from tracking down the music from a “Peloton” fitness ad (which was September Song if you are interested, as you should be).
Pay attention at the 1:35-minute mark. That is still Agnes singing, it just has this interesting male timbre to it that made me go searching to discover who had contributed additional vocals to the track. I learned that Agnes sang that portion herself and had it slowed down to give it the sound that it has. Pretty cool I think.
youtube
The Temptations – Papa was a Rolling Stone This is definitely a throwback song for me – but you know how I like a solid bass line. A psychedelic soul song that was originally written for the Motown group The Undisputed Truth. It was re-written as a 12-minute song for the Temptations that went on to hit #1 on the Billboard chart and take home 3 Grammy’s … Most of the time all I can think about is how pissed I’d be if I was in The Undisputed Truth and didn’t get the new version.
But the Temptations are amazing AND this video has them singing the song on Soul Train. If you are like the people in my office and don’t know what Soul Train is, you need to go here  … you can thank me later.
youtube
Marvin Gaye – Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler) Probably my most favorite Marvin Gaye song – which is saying something because all of Marvin Gaye’s songs are amazing … and it also has one of the best bass line hooks ever. This is one of those songs that I think everyone will know until I ask the folks in my office and learn that nobody has ever heard this song before.
youtube
Nappy Roots – AwNaw I don’t know what to tell you other than I like this song. Whenever it comes up in my musical rotation, you had better watch out because I just might start bustin’ a move … also, this track is best listened to with the volume turned up. Recorded in 2002, there are a handful of songs from this period that is similar in sound to this one … maybe it’s the unexpected addition of the organ that pushed this one onto the list. Do yourself a favor and try to make it at least to the 45-second mark of the song before you punt out. Besides, it was either this song or Trick Daddy and In Da Wind
youtube
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Rascal King This is one of my favorite bands from my college days. Affectionately referred to as “The Bosstones” they are a hybrid ska-rock band and have been around since the early ’80s. They have never experienced huge commercial success but their fans are fairly passionate about the group. My favorite album from them was the 1993 studio album “Don’t Know How to Party” but I couldn’t find any videos from that album so I went with the Rascal King.
Fun fact – there have been 15 members of this band through the years with only 4 being there the whole time; the lead singer, the bass guitarist, the tenor saxophonist, AND THE DANCER!  If you watch the video, the conductor is the dancer – Ben Carr. I can’t tell you how many times I practiced perfecting his moves. (FYI – The dancer in this video towards the end is not the dancer)
youtube
The Green – Love I I haven’t met anyone in my life who has heard of The Green – which probably wouldn’t be the case if I lived in Hawaii. The song I have included here is off their debut album, which was named iTunes Best Reggae Album of 2010. I first heard them in an ice cream parlor when my wife and I first brought my daughter there on vacation back in 2011 and I’ve been a fan ever since.
youtube
Talking Heads – Once in a Lifetime I wasn’t going to include this song in today’s post but it fell into the “Everybody needs to know this song” category. In fact, I’m not sure that we can be friends if you choose to dislike this song. Another great bass line, the genius of David Byrne both musically and from a performance standpoint, what’s not to like? I typically try to avoid providing commentary on the video because they are only here as a medium to allow people to hear the song I am talking about, however, I specifically chose this version BECAUSE of this video.
So there you go – hopefully, there are some new songs and bands in today’s post that are worth adding to your office playlist. This is the 5th entry into my “What Am I listening to” series. Just in case you make it through today’s list and you’re hungry for more., here are the links to the previous four:

What else are you gonna do with your stupid life? College football watch ‘em ups for week 2 (officially) of the 2018 season
Tumblr media
I’m all in on the rebirth of the run & shoot and don’t know if I have enough caring in me to write about every game this week. FUCK IT WE’LL DO IT LIVE!
Disclaimers about time zones and other sites and what the fuck ever go here. It doesn’t matter, we rake in like zero ad dollars from these posts.
This week is an oddity due to a lack of off-day games. Just one Friday and no others. I kind of wish every week was like this but I think this is the only one for the year.
Saturday, September 8
Matchup                                                     Time (ET)                 TV/Mobile
Arizona at Houston                                   12:00pm           ABC/ESPN2 (RM
Khalil Tate and Kevin Sumlin might just be a match made in hell. Ed Oliver has personally humiliated some great dual-threat QBs in the past but I don’t know if Tate is actually a threat through the air. Not sure what that means for the all-important stats.
Duke at Northwestern                               12:00pm                    ESPNU
Northwestern sucks. I’ll still root for them but they’re not good.
Eastern Michigan at Purdue                      12:00pm                      BTN
The nation’s leader in all-purpose yards at home against EMU? Hell yes.
Georgia Tech at USF                                   12:00pm              ABC/ESPN2 (RM)
I almost made a national champions joke but USF and UCF are actually different schools. Not by much, mind you. Based on one week against stiffs I have the impression this is a good year for the Ramblin’ Wreck.
Liberty at Army                                            12:00pm                       CBSSN
Army doesn’t even play a cool version of the option. This game is a pox.
Mississippi State at Kansas State              12:00pm                        ESPN
A bunch of guys who will play in the NFL next year are playing against each other for teams that will combine to lose 10+ games this year. This is a headache in a bag. I think I’d take KState +8 and the over of 54.5.
Nevada at Vanderbilt                                    12:00pm                        SECN
Oddly enough, I’d be totally into this one if Vandy were flying West for a 10pm kickoff. This version looks terrible, though.
New Mexico at Wisconsin                            12:00pm                         BTN
Can’t wait for Hornibrook to end up getting a Heisman invite. He’s Wisconsin’s answer to Gino Torretta.
Towson at Wake Forest                                 12:00pm                   ACCNExtra
I’ve always thought of it as “Nextra” but then I saw it written as ACCNE and now there’s no going back.
Western Michigan at Michigan                      12:00pm                        FS1
I know I’m stupid and crazy but I haven’t sold all of my Harbaugh stock just yet. I’ve heard about how he’s not a college coach and he’ll be back in the NFL next year but I can’t shake the feeling that he can still get things to click with just a little more time.
Georgia State at NC State                              12:30pm                       RSN
NC State lost a ton of talent to the pros this year and the next in line from QBU isn’t really as great as his offseason draft hype. Georgia State is absolutely going to beat the spread.
Holy Cross at Boston College                         1:00pm                     ACCNExtra
Somehow this battle for Boston reminded me of somebody explaining in excruciating detail about how BC isn’t in Boston and it just makes me hate that place and its people all over again.
UCLA at Oklahoma                                           1:00pm                        FOX
UCLA generally doesn’t do very well in early games and Oklahoma’s talent level is very obviously higher than the Bruins at every position. I don’t know what point to make here. Hopefully Rodney Anderson gets more than 5 carries this week but he might not need to.
Air Force at Florida Atlantic                             2:00pm       CBSSN / Facebook
FAU got murdered by Oklahoma last week so I’m a little bit intrigued by how Lane bounces back. Vegas really likes the Owls but I’m not really sure why.
Portland State at Oregon                                 2:00pm                    Pac-12N
This is some high quality trash. I won’t watch it due to dumb circumstances but I’d enjoy it if I could.
William & Mary at Virginia Tech                       2:00pm                ACCNExtra
The Hokies looked pretty good against FSU. I forgot all about Josh Jackson since he missed the 2017 season but I think he’s a pretty good college QB.
Kansas at Central Michigan                            3:00pm                  ESPN Plus
What can you say about Kansas football without laughing maniacally?
Arkansas State at Alabama                             3:30pm                    ESPN2
Red Wolves vs. Crimson Tide should be some sort of rivalry. Bama looks every bit as good as expected so this will probably be a bloodbath. In red.
Ball State at Notre Dame                                 3:30pm                     NBC
Notre Dame gets to walk around like a top 10 team for now but a 7-point win over Michigan at home in a game that felt like a blowout doesn’t strike me as a springboard to a CFB Playoff berth. Brian Kelly is still a shitty murderer so fuck him.
Buffalo at Temple                                              3:30pm                    ESPN3
Tyree Jackson threw 6 TDs last week while Temple was losing to Villanova. The result? Temple is favored by 5. That seems wrong. Are there really people betting their hearts in what looks like a classic degenerate’s matchup?
Colorado at Nebraska                                       3:30pm                      ABC
Big 8 rivals square off in the first game (probably!) of the Scott Frost era. Smart money is probably on Colorado.
Georgia at South Carolina                                 3:30pm                     CBS
If Coach Boom is going to make the most of his great roster he needs to spring the upset here. That doesn’t seem crazy to me so look for UGA to win by 40.
Howard at Kent State                                        3:30pm                ESPN Plus
A bunch of 1-AA teams are in the watch ‘em ups for a second time this week but Howard is closest to my heart. Love the Bison to trample the Gun Girls.
Memphis at Navy                                               3:30pm                    CBSSN
This is the only game most years where I cheer against Memphis. I don’t have a great feeling about this Navy team, though, so my advice for you who are wondering is to put the mansion on Memphis to win by more than 6 and for the over to hit some time in the third quarter.
Morgan State at Akron                                      3:30pm                  ESPN Plus
I’ll leave this one to Soused.
North Carolina at East Carolina                       3:30pm                     ESPNU
This game was in the maybe watch column on SB Nation’s grid this week and I can’t comprehend why this is anything but AVOID!!!!! even if they don’t offer that designation.
Rutgers at Ohio State                                        3:30pm                       BTN
Ohio State is out here with a boatload of talent and a scheme that mostly runs itself in games like this. I wish all bad things on the Ohio State football program but they have some really great players that I don’t hate.
Wagner at Syracuse                                           3:30pm                 ACCNExtra
Eric Dungey’s quest for a rushing title continues.
ETSU at Tennessee                                            4:00pm                      SECN
Without looking I think Tennessee is probably favored. By too much.
Lamar at Texas Tech                                          4:00pm                 FSN / FSGo
I make jokes about Lamar being just some dude every year and it’s dumb but I can’t look at Lamar and not think it’s just some dude instead of a team.
Southern Illinois at University of Mississippi    4:00pm                     SECNA
What’s up with fixing the mascot name but not the other super racist allusion in your sports programs? Progress of some sort, I guess. This is a body bag game of the lowest caliber.
Iowa State at Iowa                                              5:00pm                      FOX
Potentially cool game at college football’s most heartwarming stadium. Nothing here not to love.
North Dakota at Washington                              5:00pm                  Pac-12N
Is this the same school that Carson Wentz went to? I’m not looking it up. A lot of you were all in on Auburn trashing UDub last week but that didn’t actually happen. Washington could still win 12 straight and end up back in playoff contention, even without their star LT.
Appalachian State at Charlotte                          6:00pm                ESPN Plus
Wild to think this is 1-A on 1-A.
Maryland at Bowling Green                                 6:00pm               ESPN Plus
It was funny to see Texas lose and all but let’s all remember to hate the fuck out of Maryland’s coaches and program from here to eternity.
Savannah State at Miami (FL)                             6:00pm               ACCNExtra
There is no reason for most people to give a shit about this game but I’m interested to see if the freshman QBs are really bad or if Mark Richt is just being way too conservative with his roster by starting Malik Rosier. My gut says nobody is worse for this team than Rosier. I know Ahmmon Richards, for one, agrees with me.
SC State at UCF                                                   6:00pm                  ESPN3
Here’s the national champs. Not gonna lose the winning streak here.
UMass at Georgia Southern                                6:00pm                 ESPN Plus
Now we’re getting into some good degeneracy. There are too many other games at this same time to really dive into this shitfest but it’s real as hell to me.
Youngstown State at West Virginia                     6:00pm                    ATTSN
I was looking at games on CBS Sports and they didn’t have a channel listed for this game. ATTSN = AT&T Sports Network, guessing a DirecTV exclusive? I love Holgo even if I kinda hate the Air Raid.
Eastern Kentucky at Marshall                             6:30pm                 ESPN Plus
Here’s another great backup game. I don’t know if anybody good is on either team this year.
Baylor at UTSA                                                     7:00pm     CBSSN / Facebook
Ugh. Fucking Baylor. Go the fuck away forever, Baylor.
Clemson at Texas A&M                                        7:00pm                      ESPN
Until about 5 years ago Clemson and aTm were actually the same program. Now Clemson is a legit 5-star program and I fucking hate it. Not enough to root for the Aggies, mind you. Talent watching is pretty good in this one but the idea of Jimbo Fisher falling flat on his face in Aggieland is too good not to dream about.
Florida A&M at Troy                                              7:00pm                  ESPN Plus
Let’s go Rattlers!
Indiana State at Louisville                                   7:00pm                 ACCNExtra
Petrino might be on the verge of sunsetting unless he flukes his way into another megastar. Louisville looks like the most ACC of ACC teams right now even though they have no business being in the conference. This should be an AAC team all the way.
Southeastern La. at LSU                                     7:00pm                    ESPN2
I want to whisper to all of you that LSU really isn’t all that good but I’m typing and you’re maybe reading it instead.
Southern at LA Tech                                            7:00pm                 ESPN Plus
Louisiana Tech is one of my pet stupid programs. I always think they’re one random star recruit away from becoming the next offense lab in college football. This probably isn’t the year, though.
Texas Southern at Texas State                           7:00pm              KNVA/ESPN3
If anybody has more than a gambling interest in this one I am dying to hear about it. Seriously. Explain yourself.
UAB at Coastal Carolina                                      7:00pm                ESPN Plus
Last week I insulted UAB’s football program and they went out and won 52-0, their first shutout victory in 10 years. So let me continue my campaign for them to drop the program again.
ULM at Southern Miss                                          7:00pm                 ESPN3
I don’t think I realized until right now that CUSA is the surviving shell of the old Metro Conference. I thought the Metro just died. Anyway, CUSA football is MACtion for degenerates. Meaning that I like it. This game got a shoutout on the NFL’s season opener so maybe it will draw an audience in the hundreds.
UT Martin at Middle Tennessee                           7:00pm               ESPN Plus
The Tee Martins are back! How does it feel to play football your whole life and go to college for football and then realize that you’re playing for the team that’s being paid to lay down to Middle Tennessee State? Not even like Wake Forest or somebody like that - worse! It still sounds kind of fun but embarrassing at the same time.
Wyoming at Missouri                                             7:00pm                  ESPNU
Drew Lock has some similar physical traits to Wyoming’s QB from last year but I think he’s gotten better coaching. Similar arm talent(!!!) at least. I don’t know about the raw athleticism which, no shit, Josh Allen has tons of. Anyway, Missouri should stomp all over Wyoming.
Samford at Florida State                                       7:20pm              ACCNExtra
The Bobby Bowden Bowl! The immediate reactions to Willie Taggert at FSU were loud and angry but he needs some time to sort through the weird mess that the team devolved into last year. I don’t think he can keep running the offense he had at USF with this roster, though, and he needs to figure that out quickly.
Alabama State at Auburn                                       7:30pm                SECNA
The Littlest Iron Bowl! Auburn is another team that didn’t look great to me in week 1. And they don’t have any obvious path to the playoffs.
Arkansas at Colorado State                                  7:30pm                CBSSN
This might be the farthest an SEC team has traveled for a regular season game this century.
FIU at Old Dominion                                               7:30pm          beIN SPORTS
Keep the faith in Butch Davis. It’ll turn out pretty well in the end. I think.
Fresno State at Minnesota                                     7:30pm                   FS1
I think CSU-Fresno had the highest point total in the country in week 1 but it came against 1-AA Idaho State. Yeah, I just wanted to drop a mention to Idaho State as a (once again) 1-AA team. This game is probably trash but it has the decency to be a dumb night game that nobody will notice unless it gets wild.
Incarnate Word at North Texas                               7:30pm             ESPN Plus
This is truly bottom of the barrel stuff but UNT does have the nation’s leader in passing yards per game!
Kentucky at Florida                                                 7:30pm                  SECN
UF is really heavily favored to win their 32nd straight against Kentucky but why? The line is only 14 but odds are weighted like 88% for the Gators to win. Kentucky sucks but doesn’t Florida?
Maine at WKU                                                          7:30pm             ESPN Plus
A lot of oddball evening games this week. I like it.
Utah at NIU                                                                7:30pm             ESPNews
Northern Illinois got blown out by Iowa last week. Utah looked like hell for the first 30 minutes against Weber State. I don’t have a point. Utah will probably win by 20.
Virginia at Indiana                                                      7:30pm                BTN
UVA and IU are more similar than dissimilar historically speaking. This game makes me annoyed just knowing that it’s going to happen and that it’s on Big Ten Network. Get your shit together, Hoos.
Western Illinois at Illinois                                          7:30pm                BTN
It would be so Lovie Smith to lose this game.
Cincinnati at Miami (Ohio)                                         8:00pm   Raycom / ESPN3
I agree with what Ohio State fans were saying a few years back: Luke Fickell sucks.
New Mexico State at Utah State                              8:00pm           Facebook
Facebook? For this one? Boo hiss. This is prime gambling athletics, nobody should be tracking you as you watch this one.
Nicholls at Tulane                                                      8:00pm              ESPN3
Nicholls! The Nicholls Nickels! Tulane doesn’t get a lot of easy wins but I think we can all agree with some bit of confidence that Tulane may suck loudly but they’re still better than Kansas.
Penn State at Pitt                                                       8:00pm               ABC
I have an unhealthy and unrealistic need for Pitt to win this game.
Sacramento State at San Diego State                     8:00pm             No TV (!!!)
What in the goddamn fucking hell is SDSU doing with no TV coverage in 2018? Christ almighty. This is hilarious.
South Alabama at Oklahoma State                          8:00pm                FSN
I wish South Alabama was good enough to at least put the fear of god in Okie State but they really aren’t. Expect a typical early season massacre from the Cowboys.
Southern Utah at Oregon State                                8:00pm             Pac-12N
What the hell is this?
Tulsa at Texas                                                             8:00pm                 LHN
Tulsa only beat Central Arkansas by 11 last week but Texas lost to Maryland. 23 points might be too much to expect for the Longhorns at this juncture.
USC at Stanford                                                          8:30pm                 FOX
The Pac-12 is known for two things: bad scheduling and bad referees. Also, bad defenses so that makes three things. This is bad scheduling. Why is the most marketable game of your whole conference year happening in week 2 at 8:30pm EST? This is absolutely moronic.
UTEP at UNLV                                                              9:00pm               ATTSN
Ever since it popped into my head last year or the year before I just can’t get over UNLV being confederate-themed. What the hell is that?
California at BYU                                                        10:15pm              ESPN2
This is actually beautiful scheduling which makes me think BYU came up with it themselves. Great uniform matchup even if both teams stink.
UConn at Boise State                                               10:15pm    ESPN2/ESPNU
Haha, UConn. What are you doing? How did this program actually make it to major bowl game in the last 10 years? They’re 31-point underdogs playing past their bedtimes against an OK-at-best Boise State team. This somehow feels earned.
Michigan State at Arizona State                               10:45pm               ESPN
Really not sure how Sparty agreed to this one but if I have one strong conviction from week 1 it’s that Herm Edwards should have stayed a TV talking head and left the coaching game to everybody else.
San Jose State at Washington State                         11:00pm           Pac-12N
Very fine watchin’ ‘em up here. You have to catch them all.
Rice at Hawai’i                                                              11:59pm          Spectrum
Spectrum is a station? Spectrum is a cable company. Anyway, Rice played Ed Oliver last week and now they have to face early RTARLsman frontrunner Cole McDonald. I’m cautiously bandwagoning for Hawai’i.

Joe’s Weather Blog: Cleaning off the desk (THU-1/25)
Every so often as I see things pop up in my twitter feed that I find interesting…I save them to use for the blog. My hope is to use them in that day’s blog or the next day. Well usually the weather changes what I was going to write about that particular day and instead all these little ditties end up collecting dust. So for long time readers of the blog…every so often I like to “clean off my desk” and just get it all out there. There isn’t necessarily a cohesiveness to all this but at least my “desk” will be a bit emptier when I’m done with it.
The other reason why I do this, is that usually there isn’t a lot of interesting weather to talk about in the short term…and there really isn’t aside from the wind…milder temperatures, cooler Sunday and then a nice warm-up again early next week. Let’s still keep an eye on the 2/1 time period for what it’s worth (probably not a lot though).
Forecast:
Today: Sunny and windy with highs around 60°. Some may do better than that. Winds will gust to 30+ MPH. Be alert for the risk of grass fires today with the dry vegetation and gusty winds!
Tonight: Breezy and mild with lows in the 40s
Friday: Windy and mild with some more clouds…highs should again be well into the 50s.
Saturday: Mostly sunny and nice with highs in the 50s
Sunday: More seasonable with highs closer to about 40° and more clouds too.
Discussion:
Hey…give me a follow on Instagram if you feel like it…joelauriafox4 on Instagram.
So let’s start the randomness of this…
December average temperatures were .6° above average
January temperatures so far are 3.6° below average…that will be whittled too over the next week. We may end up below average…but not by much.
This is our 35th coldest winter (12/1-1/24) so far.
Precip wise…
December we only had .19″ which was 1.34″ below average
January (so far) we’re up to 1.13″ which is (.35″ above average so far)
It’s clear the month of February will make or break a variety of winter forecasts. IF temperatures are somewhat above average…the winter overall may end up near to above average. If it’s a colder month overall…the winter will be colder than average in the end.
Precip wise…all it will take is one substantial storm (rain or snow) considering our monthly average for precip is around 1.5″…one or two decent storms can easilty push our winter totals above average…although many may perceive this as a dry winter in the end though. Let’s see how February goes before we determine how winter has been from a temperature and precip standpoint.
Not surprisingly the “official” forecasts offer little help from the Climate Prediction Center.
Rain/snow…
EC by the way represents “equal chances” of either above or below average precip or temperatures…in other words a major collective ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not really helpful for our area.
I do think that we may be colder than average over the 1st half of the month…not sure what happens on the back half though.
For snow lovers…there are some hopeful signs…especially after the 5th-7th of the month. We’ll see and we’ve been down this road (somewhat) before but at least to me the road does appear a bit different this time.
Now its time to clean off the desk.
Remember how wet and snowy the western US was last season. All sorts of records breaking precip events. Tremendous mountain snows…well this season is not following suit and in some cases some of the mountains out west in CA have even less snow than the drought years, especially the season from 2 years ago…which was very little.
Latest #water supply update: Snowpack in the Sierra & Upper Colorado River basin are lagging well below normal. The current snow water content in the Northern Sierra is tracking the worst snowpack in history (WY '14-'15) https://t.co/cKfalZMCz2 pic.twitter.com/bhi0gMQ3RP

In the tweets above…the RED regions are the ones really lacking. The GREENS are the regions that are doing average to good.
Remember Harvey in Texas…all that rain…well now they’ve really dried out…and drought is becoming more and more of an issue.

This tweet is from a couple of days ago…and the streak continues.
Lubbock is now reached 75 days without measurable precipitation. This ties us with 1995 for the 5th longest streak. Moving into 3rd place this week seems like a sure bet, trailing only the 88 days in 1921-1922 and 98 days of 2005-2006. https://t.co/Tp7DLqzeFA #txwx #lubwx

Amarillo is crazy dry…tack on another day to this…their last real measurable rain, and it was .01″ was back on 10/13!
Today is day 103, and we are still dry, with several more dry days to come. Although there might be a small glimmer of hope on the last day of January (Day 110), we may have to look to February to see if we can end this dry streak. #phwx pic.twitter.com/FpOFRvn5Et

Again a study of contrasts…back to Harvey…so much water in the Houston area…it actually sunk the land.
Because of the weight of the flooding around Houston due to #Harvey, the land sunk 2cm or just over 3/4 of an inch. #OSSTahoe

The NE part of the country is thawing out somewhat now…but like us it was very cold for awhile there. That cold, combined by the rivers that are common led to many ice jams. Worse this year than in the past because of the length of the colder temperatures
