Smash Characters and people who main them

So, I was thinking about who mains certain Smash characters. Aaaand I got these ideas.

Mario: Probably Mickey Mouse. Or Emmet from the Lego Movie franchise idk

DK: Surely not King Kong because he has big hands and would break a Joy-Con just by touching it, not even a GameCube controller is safe. 100% Winston from Overwatch is the candidate, even better if he takes the blue DK skin lol

Link: Sora. This one is easy as hell.

Samus: Tony Stark is the first option that comes to mind.

Dark Samus: And since Rhodes can’t use Samus, might as well use the OTHER Samus lol

Yoshi: It is canonically stated in Deltarune that Asriel Dreemurr mains him and loves him to death.

Fox: I’m not sure how a red pirate fox animatronic holds a Joy-Con or two but probably Foxy from FNAF is the perfect main here.

Pikachu: It’s either Agumon or Jibanyan, too easy. Also put Jibanyan in Smash Sakurai pls

Luigi: Probably Donald Duck to parallel Mickey, the only difference between the two would be that Donald has a short temper while Luigi is a cowardly lion (and the plumber-sailor thing)

What Are You Like? Allen Leech

By Adam Farley, Deputy Editor June / July 2017 The former Downton Abbey star makes his American stage debut.℘℘℘ong before Allen Leech drove himself and the Crawley family into American hearts in a 1920 Renault for the surprise 2010 PBS Masterpiece hit Downton Abbey, he was on stage in Killiney, County Dublin, playing the Cowardly Lion in a grade school production of The Wizard of Oz.“I was 11 and I was hooked,” the now 36-year-old actor says. It doesn’t get much more clear-cut than that for a calling. By 16, after two years working backstage at Dublin’s Gate Theatre, he had his first professional acting credit, playing the gentleman caller to Frances McDormand’s Blanche Dubois in the theater’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire. From there, he made the rounds around Dublin’s stages before getting into movie and TV work in the early 2000s.

Laid back and cheekily modest in the way that belies his talent (in 2004 he described his first film, a made-for-TV movie about an Irish woman’s soul trapped in an American woman’s body, as “absolute shite” before knowingly rolling his eyes at the reporter), Leech has had constant work ever since. His credits range from independent Irish films like Cowboys and Angels, a critical darling that saw him play a manic pixie gay Limerick clubber, to Hollywood blockbusters like The Imitation Game and mainstream period shows like HBO’s Rome, Showtime’s The Tudors, and, of course, Downton Abbey, in which he played Tom Branson, chauffeur and Irish revolutionary who marries the Earl of Grantham’s youngest daughter, and for which he won three Screen Actors Guild awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Leech’s most recent stage work was in Mike Leigh’s 2011 London success Ecstasy – a role, incidentally, he took because he didn’t think his character would be renewed for season two of Downton – but now he returns to the floorboards, and is making his American stage debut to boot in the Geffen Playhouse’s production of Nick Payne’s 2012 Constellations in Los Angeles, opposite Ginnifer Goodwin. A famously dense two-actor play, Constellations traces the relationship of a beekeeper (Leech) and a quantum physicist (Goodwin) who talk through, at, and with each other using an assortment of esoteric principles of higher physics to examine both the struggle and the complexity of genuine human communication. The play premiered in London, where it was nominated for both Olivier and Drama League Awards, before being taken to Broadway with Jake Gyllenhaal in Leech’s role, where it earned similarly high praise, including a Tony nomination.

Leech recently bought a house in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles, though no word on whether the emigration from London is permanent – Constellations runs June 6 through July 16. What can be certain is that Leech, who might look even more like Michael Collins than Liam Neeson (pace Liam) will fit in just fine in the city. As Londondesigner Oliver Spencer noted of Leech for GQ Britain when Leech made the magazine’s 50 best-dressed people list of 2015, “Allen has a raw yet relaxed style. He’s funny and charming, but also has an air of danger about him.” What could be more L.A. than that?℘℘℘

Americans know you as Tom Branson, the chauffeur in Downton Abbey. What did you love about Downton, and why do you think it was so popular over here?

I think what made Downton so popular was the characters. Julian Fellowes did an incredible job of weaving the lives and stories of 20 or so main cast together. It’s what I loved about it too.

Julian Fellowes did a good job shedding light on Irish history in the script. Did he ever talk to you about Ireland, or his own Irish roots?

Yes, we did speak about it quite a lot. His brother still lives on an island off Kerry.

You actually had to learn to drive a vintage Renault for Downton. What was that like?

I loved driving that car. It was amazing to drive a car built at a time when there were no rules as to the placement of pedals or brakes. Levers and buttons everywhere. Like flying a plane.

How are you preparing for your role in Constellations? Did you have to learn a lot about quantum mechanics and string theory?

I’ve dipped my toe in. I fear any further and I’ll enter a mental black hole.

What are you most excited / nervous about in your American debut?

I’m very excited about the play as it’s a really fascinating and touching work by Nick Payne, and working with Ginnifer Goodwin, and I’m always nervous about doing a play.

How does it feel to be returning to the stage?

It’s where I started in this business and I always want to do more theater like so many actors. So I feel very lucky to get the opportunity.

Were your parents supportive of your decision to become an actor?

They were very supportive. But the ground rules of an education first were put in place, so I had to get a degree. Thankfully drama and theater studies in Trinity College took me in.

Any relation to the famous Irish painter William John Leech?

Apparently we are related somewhere down the line. Leech isn’t a very common name, so I imagine we must be.

Do you have a favorite spot in Ireland?

I’ve always had a great love of Connemara, County Clare. The mountains and the views are spectacular.

What movie will you watch again and again?

Irish movie: The Commitments.

Classic movie: The Sting.

Do you have a favorite line from a movie, play, or book?

A walk on Killiney beach followed by pints in Finnegan’s in Dalkey.

How do you keep fit?

In L.A. a great friend of mine has a gym called Training Mate. It’s fantastic. And well worth a visit if you’re in town.

What is your favorite meal?

Steak and…… anything!

TV shows and movies I remember from my childhood

Cheaper By The Dozen: I remember the first time I ever saw this movie. I was at my dad’s for the weekend and we were eating spinach pizza with ranch (don’t judge me) and I was so in love with the kid that played Jake.

Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2: I remember this one the most because Mickey D’s forgot to give me honey mustard for my nuggets and my dad tried making me some. Also I thought Sabrina Bryan from The Cheetah Girls was in this movie, but it was Skyler Shaye,who kinda looks like Sabrina Bryan.

The Cheetah Girls: I know all these songs by heart and I remember fighting with my sister and cousin over who would be which Cheetah Girl

Bring It On: I mean who hasn’t seen this and again fought with my sister and cousin over which side we were on

Spy Kids: I was obsessed with the Spy Kids movies. I remember my dad taking me to see all the movies in the theater and he would fall asleep halfway through and snore.

Hotel for Dogs: This cheesy ass movie stayed with me because Jake T. Austin was in it and so was Emma Roberts

Wizards of Waverly Place: I might still like wizardry, knowing full and well that it’s not real but who cares

Unfabulous: Spending the weekend at my grandparents and just watching this show was the best. Also I could never see why Addie liked Jake. I liked that one dude she dated. The one who had all those allergies. . .she kissed him after eating a peanut butter cookie and he had to leave for the hospital

All My Children: My grandma got me into soap operas 

The Color of Friendship: If you have not seen this beautiful movie go watch it. Thought the original story is super sad

Tuck Everlasting: This movie was really interesting. I remember watching this at my friend’s house in Nebraska and swooning over the guy that played Jesse

“Cats” isn’t for everyone – much of it is a cheesy, B-grade affair seemingly crafted solely to take over midnight-movie slots from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ Those with an open mind, though, as well as little kids and the T-Swift posse, might find it somewhat pawesome.” Brian Truitt writes in USA Today, in the most positive review I could find. It’s the annual night of the Jellicle Ball for a tribe of Jellicle cats, and one of them – “the Jellicle choice” – will be picked by wise Old Deuteronomy (Judi Dench) to be reborn into a new life.

My review of the 2016 Broadway revival:

The first Broadway revival of Cats, which is neither wholly reimagined nor an exact replica of the original, is unlikely to turn off Cats-lovers, nor win over Cats-loathers. It works best as a showcase for the energetic young cast and what it does best – which is dance. As Mistoffelees, 20-year-old stand-out Ricky Ubeda, season winner of the TV competition So You Think You Can Dance, delivers an athletic solo turn late in Act II clearly tailor-made for his talents. While director Trevor Nunn and set and costume designer John Napier more or less recreate their work from the original production, new lighting designer Natasha Katz adds her own touches, as does Andy Blankenbuehler, the Tony-winning choreographer of Hamilton. Although the program carefully credits his work as based on the original choreography by Gillian Lynne, anybody who’s seen Hamilton will recognize Blankenbuehler’s signature moves, including some hip rhythmic bending from the ensemble, but the dancing is most marked by its variety, from jazz to rock to ballet. If the lyrics are largely lost in the swirl, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s score holds up. The performances, though, are uneven. Pop star Leona Lewis, as Grizabella, has the voice for Memory, but captures none of the character’s complexity – the quality dignity mixed with pathos that Elaine Page and Betty Buckley brought to the role.
