watching a video that uses "teenage girls are being made fun of for drinking water" as a way to talk about jokes online abt hydroflask obsession and its like........ i think we're making fun of how people shell out for an overpriced water bottle just so they have the brand name. to fucking drink their water from. but ok ok

#rubia speaks #like it does come up when making fun of the VSCO girls YES but #i think the hydroflasks are targeted specifically BECAUSE they're used as conspicuous consumerism so ppl can get clout #if it was about girls drinking water ppl wouldn't be naming specific WATER BOTTLE BRANDS.#this probably isnt coherent i have a headache rn and its hard to find the words i mean #i think its a valid criticism that a lot of ppl make fun of what girls especially teenage girls like #but its also important to be able to distinguish that from when people are making fun of the consumerist aspects of 'popular' girlhood #that say you cant be a girl the right way unless u drink from 50 dollar water bottles or — in my day it was wear aeropostale or smth #i think we should make fun of those parts. it should be so meme-ified to be a clout demon rich kid that ppl like that cant get overly #popular from owning products alone #make them have a personality
