I think I just saw someone vaguing your sarcastic reblog thing from a few days ago about how beards don't make Edward and Izzy hypermasc and pretending you genuinely argued that growing a beard in the 1700s is peak gnc behavior
Anyway I thought you would appreciate laughing at how they spent several paragraphs explaining how beards are "nonconforming but not in a gender way" and make people frightening / project criminal behavior so they don't interfere with being 'hypermasc" or whatever, while Stede is gender nonconforming "in a macaroni way" and clearly gay to everyone who lays eyes on him. (The actual points being made were not addressed. Presumably the French aristocrats and Edward's purple crop top couldn't be reached for comment on masculinity standards?)
