you've been in the voca scene a really long while, so do you have any songs from when you first got into it that are still bangers despite your taste changing over time?
yeah!!! although for the most part what i listened to when i got into it were the popular songs at the time. or at least semi-well known.
kemu's pandora voxx songs are still up there on my fave songs list especially rokuchounen, reincarnation, and ikasama life game.
i also still have a special place in my heart for the shuuen no shiori project songs despite not being active in the fandom the past few years. sarumane isu tori game is literally how i came up with my url. d-ne my beloved. theres a part in the ia ver of the song towards the end that always sounded similar to when u blow into a straw i always thought that was neat. arikitari heroes is still my most listened to song in my life. song i listened to for like a month straight if not more (+ multiple weeks on & off. for months.) Back In The Day & still have trouble turning off if i put it on.
i also adore old mafumafu songs adagaeshi syndrome was my first & still goes hard & kakushigoto & yuugure semi nikki are still songs i listen to frequently. kuusou sekai to omocha no shinzou was also something i latched onto heavily. also as the resident aoki lapis fan im required to tell u mafu owns her & has used her exactly Once in an album only song toumei palette which thank u for reminding me i think i'll go listen to that now
now the one producer i miss SOOO much who also deleted most of their works is sekaikeiP or #n/a. their songs are. loud. to say the least u will want to turn ur volume down for all but one of them but i HIGHLY recommend sekaikei shoujo wa dennou sekai wo oyogu which is my second fave song of theirs so im super glad its still up. it gets stuck in my head frequently. there was no translation for this when i found it so i tried doing it myself & it went poorly so its a really cool feeling to go from completely not understanding to being able to understand most of it without double checking anything. but i digress. also highly recommend muhyoujou shoujo to yume miru kusuri. again volume warning. solid song tho & this one does have a translation if i remember right. the last one no longer has an official upload anywhere HOWEVER its my favorite of all their songs so i'm breaking my own rules & linking a reupload here. shounen A to mousou shoujo. this one has a normal volume btw its the one thats not super loud. absolutely devastated they didnt keep this up it was one of their more popular songs too. i drew fanart for it & they found it & followed me bc of it. good times. this producer's been missing since 2015 but i still think of them fondly.
debated leaving him off bc of the drama around szm but i. legitimately have no clue if new fans know szm's songs. the idol series of songs are iconic of course. undead enemy as well. personally i also really liked jinrui gofun mae kasetsu. there was a period of time i drew a lot of the girl in the video.
as for more one off songs i still go back to
clean tear's suki ni natteshimatta... ayatsuriningyou. what can i say i love trance songs & aoki lapis.
ken's yokkyuu fuman march.
ych's yotei chouwa quest. also ych's poker face but everyone knows poker face i want people to know this one too.
takamatt's dragon rising.
seleP's ref-rain. actually im a seleP fan in general but this has pretty solidly been my fave the whole time. they do mostly yandere theme songs. which if ur a naisho no pierce fan ur used to anyway. but seleP's more dance/trance in genre.
im sorry this is such a long post ive listened to nearly exclusively vocalo songs since 2013 i know. so many

favorite thing about them:Her determination to never give up and maintain a positive outlook even in the face of despair, spreading hope and cheer to those around her and bringing light to the Batcave. least favorite thing about them:The fact that she tends not to look before she leaps, often leading her to trouble (and tragedy in some cases OTL), and that in the beginning she didn’t seem to take “superheroing” very seriously, seeing it more as a way to get revenge on her dad/close to Robin.  Her transition to Batgirl shows tremendous growth in that regard, as the below quote(s) illustrate.favorite line:”Everything doesn’t have to be about fear.  There’s room in our line of work for hope, too.”and “You said I haven’t changed much… but I have.  For the first time in my life, I’m fighting this fight…  I don’t know… not even for me.  I’m doing this for all of them.“and“The only variable you can control is yourself.  You can forget who you are, or you can be who you want to be.  That’s why you stay.  You stay for a second chance. “brOTP: Cassandra Cain, although I also like her relationship with Damian in the “bratty little brother” kind of way.  (I also think she and Jason would get along/could at least relate to each other, if they interacted more.)OTP: (DCAU) TimSteph nOTP: DamiSteph kinda???  Again they’re cute in the “sibling rivalry” sense, but unless Damian really matures when he’s older I don’t see them working out romantically.random headcanon: Not so much a headcanon as a “wish” for Young Justice S3, but I really hope we get to see Steph bonding with Artemis over their jerk criminal dads (and being butt-kicking blondes together).  Plus now that Cass is soft-confirmed to appear this season too, add her into the mix of “traumatized kids who grew up to defy their abusive fathers’ bad guy backgrounds” and let them all be kick-ass girlfriends pls. =3=bunpopular opinion: Uh… Does me preferring to ship her with BTAS Tim/Timmy Todd count? *shot*song i associate with them: We’ll Be the Stars - Sabrina Carpenterfavorite picture of them:I’ve come across quite a few pretty pics of Steph, but these two are probably my favs:

Stephanie Brown, by 陌桑While the first features her current Rebirth design (which I’m not opposed to, I’m just not as familiar with that version of her), I love the visual detail and freedom of the image and the fact that it almost feels like a crossover with Kagepro, my other favorite fandom. *cough* The second one (which sadly depicts Steph as she’s leaving for Africa following her torture and supposed “death” at the hands of Black Mask ;() is also lovely, and I like the animé-esque inspired style since I’m still a weeb. =P The little robin is a nice touch too. ;~;

Ten Songs I’m Currently Obsessed With
@thenerdwhodrinkstea, thank you for tagging me in this! I don’t wanna clog up dashes, so I figured I’d make my own post~ Also I’m putting it under a readmore because I kinda talk about these songs a little, pfffft, I love to ramble sometimes.
How Bad Can I Be/Biggering- The Lorax Soundtrack
This is technically two different songs, but they convey the same idea, so you know, haha. The movie they’re from is garbage, but I’ve still got a soft spot for it, and I’ve lowkey been wanting to rewatch it because of the nostalgia, haha. Anyway, for Biggering I linked to this neat storyboard that someone just did in their freetime, haha. Funny enough, I think Biggering works better with its visuals, while How Bad Can I Be’s visuals from the movie kinda... Make it too on the nose with its message, haha.
Jump Up, Superstar! Remix- Super Mario Odyssey (The Living Tombstone)
Ahhh, this is just a feel good song for me, haha, I absolutely love it~ It makes me wanna play the game but I don’t have a Swiiiiitch!! Also the animation in the video is just super cute too~
Basics in Behavior [Blue]- The Living Tombstone
This is technically a Baldi’s Basics fansong, but you knooooow. It’s really catchy and it’s been stuck in my head on and off for a few days now! There’s also a “Red” version, but this is the one I personally like more~
I Can’t Fix You- The Living Tombstone and Crusher-P
This is a FNAF Sister Location fansong, but you knooooooow!!! I think it’s really fun to listen to, and the video is cool, if a bit bright and flashy, so be careful watching it if you’re sensitive to that kinda thing! Also, there’s this part at the end that’s really violent with really creepy ambiance that gives me anxiety, so I’d personally stop the video at 4:15.
Bad Apple!!!- Touhou Project (cover by JubyPhonic)
This song sounds like a bop, but it’s lowkey kinda sad, haha. But it’s one that I’ve been listening to for a while, my love for it just sprang back up recently~
Madness of Duke Venomania- Mothy (Kamui Gakupo V4)
Okay, so unfortunately there aren’t any english version of this song that I personally like, or even an english subbed form of this particular version, so hhhh, unfortunate, but I think the song is a bop anyway, haha. Also, it’s got some mature themes, so you know. Anyway, here’s the gist of the song:
So Duke Venomania is this guy who essentially has some sort of Lust Beacon type power to where girls kinda flock to him and he can seduce them easily and all that, and using this power he kinda builds up this harem. The reason for this power is because he made a deal with some Lust Demon (or something) because when he was young he was ostracized by society, and even by a childhood friend who he had at the time. So he gets all these girls to love on him because of that hatred he got when he was younger.
Anyway, so this dude builds up his harem, which includes his childhood friend, and then one day this girl approaches the castle. He does his schtick all like “hey lil mama, lemme whisper in yo ear”, but then he gets stabbed. Turns out the girl was a dude who came here to kill him because one of the ladies in the Duke’s harem was his girlfriend, or something. So while the Duke bleeds out, his powers disappear and all the girls yeet themselves out of there, including his childhood friend. And the very last line of the song is the Duke saying how he didn’t get the chance to tell her that he loved her (I think).
Never Lost Word- Jin (cover by JubyPhonic)
This is a song about not quite fitting in and feeling like an outcast, and growing to find that you don’t need to try and fit in with the people around you, you just have to find people that accept you for who you are. I think it’s a sweet little song, and it’s actually part of a whole project called KagePro, there’s this whole story to it (and even a 12 episode anime), so I think it’s worth checking out!
Rolling Girl- wowaka (cover by JubyPhonic)
This is a song that I really relate to. I interpret it as being about a girl who has anxiety because of the unfortunate circumstances she’s in, but she keeps pretending that everything is okay even though she has all these thoughts that are eating away at her. And there’s this boy who knows something is wrong and keeps trying to help her along the way, no matter how much she tries to push back against it.
Rotten Girl, Grotesque Romance- Machigerita-P (over by Rockleetist)
So this is a dark song about a yandere girl, haha, but it’s a trope I find really interesting when I’m in a Mood, plus I just think the song is really good! It’s got dark themes like murder and all that, though, so it’s obviously not gonna be everyone’s cup of tea, haha.
Delinquent Theme- Simon Amiot
I don’t really keep up with Yandere Sim anymore, but I was still kinda interested when this little number came out, and I absolutely love it! Lowkey, it makes me think of my boy Mortar, haha, since he’s such a huge delinquent. But it’s also just cool, I think!

Okay this is gonna be personal, long, WEIRD and maybe controversial, so cut~~
I got into vocaloid in 2009. This went on for a while, then I lost interest to something else (homestuck probably). Since then I still listened to some songs here and there but was never invested.
Couldn’t remember where I actually started the second phase, but it was after Kagepro. Before that I had NO IDEA what the hell kagepro was (i even thought it was ). Yea so basically when I found out, I was shocked. I couldn’t believe a ~fan~ like me could have missed out on such a major vocaloid project. I felt a mix of guilt and anger. For a while I basically avoided kagepro because of??? whatever the shit reasons teen!me came up with.
THEN when I got to try out kagepro. This is maybe after my dangan ronpa phase where I found a really good fanMV that used Lost Time Memory, which was what motivated me to give the project a try (it was one of the best songs I’ve heard. also the first time I knew of Mafumafu now that I remember :p)
And, well, I only liked maybe 3 songs. It’s okay, I’m a picky listener anyway. I guess I tried my hardest to be a “fan”? Like I seeked out anime and manga adaptations and read/watched all of it. And yea, I liked it. The story was interesting (a bit incoherent, but it was a character-based project, and I loooove character-based media)
I could have enjoyed it. I did like some of it. The problem is that the only character I actually loved was Kido. And I loved her a tad TOO much.
Way too much
.....I basically kinned with her lol
*ahem* (no i wasn’t actually otherkin/fictionkin. and i won’t voice my opinion on it)
What I mean is that, I had a character I projected too much on.
And it was sooo bad dude. It was BIZARRE. I couldn’t take it when people interpreted her differently from my thoughts. I couldn’t handle people draw her in a dress/feminine clothing (which if I remember correctly happened at some point in her flashback? But that didn’t affect me as much bc she looked very different as a child). Oh, and I really, really despised EVERY ship that involved her and a boy (or now that i think about it, anyone). And let me tell, all of those things were the utmost popular in the fandom as I first saw it. Especially especially the shipping.
Now I didn’t go around sending hate mails or anything, all I did was mope. I was like “why does everyone like to do this. This makes me very uncomfortable” kinda stuff. I avoided fanworks of that series like the plague. (I uh, still feel disgusted when I remember that fanart where all the girls in the series wore wedding dresses and paired with the boys. I was like [*whisper softly* no] when I saw it. I know I sound “heterophobic". I know it’s not right. I can’t help it)
Oh, and this was not the first time something similar to this happened. I had fictional characters I “identified” with since I was child, usually tomboy/masculine girls, and occasionally I got crushed when I saw said girls ended up acting “femininely” or being in a relationship with a boy (again, with anyone actually, but lesbians were kinda non-existent back then on tv sooo). But the thing with Kido was that it was much more severe and basically destroyed what little enjoyment i got out of that series.
I know I sound super melodramatic about this non-issue, and I agree. It was messy and I’m not proud of it. Teen!me was an absolute wreck.
So yeah, a lil anecdote.
TL,DR: Couldn’t get into a popular vocaloid series because i was too attached to a character and let discomfort consume me.
