Have you decided anything about the Palaces of anyone other than Makoto, Madarame and Akira's dad? I'm curious to see what you have.
As for my suggestions, Kamoshida could have his castle (except he feels like he's the king of the WORLD, or at least Japan, rather than just the school), and Futaba's eSports manager guy… I'm oddly thinking puppet theatre, with the eSports team being the puppets
you are literally spot on with your Kamoshida guess!!!! are you also looking at my google doc notes? I'm going to revamp his castle a bit so it's not 1:1 with the game but the general idea is still A Castle Type Building
also that is an AMAZING idea for the eSports Manager Guy Who I Should Really Name!! Futaba's arc is that she's a super super popular streamer/eSports player but her manager says he only keeps her around because people find her cute and she has no actual skill or anything. her manager is like this dude who pretends to be super feminist and inclusive but really he's just putting on a show to rake in the cash and he sees all the players under him as nothing more than moneymakers and he's not afraid to stage scandals and get them fired as soon as they're useless to him. or maybe her? we don't have enough female palace leaders tbh.
tangentially related: when I thought "esports palace", my brain went straight to this:
Tumblr media
we also need to think of a palace for Kobayakawa seeing as he's taking Kaneshiro's place. we've already used Shujin for Madarame in this AU so we'll have to think of something else. okay put a pin in that one, that needs more thought and work and potentially changing
Wakaba's palace........... obviously everyone would be expecting like a science lab, but I feel like she deserves a zen garden or something. I feel her heart would be pretty calm. like idk if you (anon) or anyone reading this played the summer Genshin event, but something like Kazuha's domain! a constantly changing building that defies physics and tells a story along the way.
Tumblr media
obviously the Mementos/Holy Grail fight remains roughly the same because I am NOT reworking Mementos. okay now P5R spoilers below the read more!!!
welcome to the SPOILER ZONE OOOOOOOO (I should stop doing that)
okay so in this AU, Maruki's palace is now a hospital that steadily gets more and more decrepit the further they explore. think Silent Hill but someone renovated like just the reception area to look clean and flashy and then they ran out of budget.
the PTs have to go through the morgue, where they find out the truth about Rumi and Maruki getting his Persona and whatnot, and then when they come across the Garden of Eden it's just all levels of wrong and nothing like the eye-wateringly colourful Psientific Model Eden in canon P5R. yes they still get to fistfight the therapist. that was genuinely one of my fave parts of P5R. they've done all this flashy fighting stuff throughout the game to steal hearts and save the world and then Joker literally just hits Maruki in the face. love that.

You know what I really want to see how shinichi and kazuha dynamic will be like. Because all this time, Kazuha never actually interacted with Shinichi right? I can't help but to think that maybe Kazuha resent him a bit? For leaving Ran and stuff. And don't get me wrong, I don't think Kazuha hate him, but I really want to see them interact somehow. So Kazuha could know Shinichi better rather than just seeing him as Ran's boyfriend who leaves all the time. And now that I think about it, same goes for Heiji and Ran. They met a lot but never team up for anything. Wouldn't it be great if there's one eps where they like switch partner. Although it will surely be a comedic one.
Oh, yes, I’ve talked about these two as well in the past. (Here, I’ll leave you a link in case you wanna see: (x))
I actually think somewhat the same as you. We’ve seen and heard Kazuha complain about how “mean” Shinichi is for leaving Ran all alone, and other things similar to that. Again, as you say, it’s not that she hates him, if that were the case, she wouldn’t be happy about Ran dating Shinichi because she wouldn’t want her friend to be with someone she hates so much. It’s just that she doesn’t really know him much, she has had very few interactions with him, just as an example of how unaware Kazuha is about Shinichi himself... Let’s look back at the moment she sees him for the first time in Desperate Revival when he takes off his knight helmet. Take any version you want, in Japanese she says something like “So he’s really a man” or something like that, implying that, all the time until then, she still had her doubts. (The spanish version is more fun, with her making a surprised comment on how hot he is, which still implies that she very much didn’t even know what the guy looked like).
But still, we have to have something in mind. Most of the Shinichi related knowledge Kazuha gets goes through the filter of Ran or Heiji, who clearly love and care for him a lot, so you’d expect her to hear great things about him, which is also something that we know has happened (we see Ran telling Kazuha these little things and anecdotes about Shinichi from time to time, and we know that Kazuha first appeared because she got jealous that Heiji wouldn’t stop talking about him). And then we also have the shiragami case, which shows that Kazuha has some faith in him, she believed in his innocence and didn’t sway once on her opinion. So yeah, she definitely does not dislike him, she only knows few things on him, which I would love to change tbh, I would looooove to see a case where they somehow end up separated from their partners, so Shinichi and Kazuha, and then Heiji and Ran have to interact more and work together or something?
And also a little detail that have noticed very very recently... Shinichi actually calls Kazuha “Kazuha-chan”, which is very fucking sweet and I wasn’t expecting at all, (I think the only other person he uses “-chan” with is actually Ayumi) but I was pleasantly surprised. So ye, he also cares for her, she’s his best bro’s girl, and he seems to genuinely like her as a friend. (Also her amulet actually saved his life once, I bet he’s still thankful to her and Heiji for it. Who knows, he might even get one for himself in the future, I can see Kazuha making one for him because he won’t stop getting involved in trouble lmao)

I find it interesting that even though kazuha is described as more aggressive than ran personality-wise, ran practises karate, which is the more aggressive martial art compared to aikido, which is all about harmony and softness and minimising effort/strength used (aikido is actually not competitive - there are only exams). In fact, you shouldn't have an aggressive mindset with aikido. It's more about self-growth and inner peace, etc. Maybe this says something hidden about their personalities.
Related to the aikido ask, it's also interesting how when you put kazuha's and heiji's names together, you get "peace," which seems contrary to their pretty volatile relationship. I wonder if they'll mellow out after they actually get together? Or maybe their relationship is actually calmer than we see on-screen? After all, they seem to get along well when they're out for okonomiyaki. I know bickering is iconic to their dynamic, but sometimes I wish they would just be soft with each other.
I actually did a term paper about Aikido and everything you said was right.
Tbh I think that Gosho based the martial arts on strength rather than on personality. Which results in making Ran stronger than Kazuha since Aikido is a more self-defense martial arts than an offense one, and because Karate is much more aggressive. Not to mention that Aikido doesn’t require as much strength and muscle as much as people think (it’s more about the technique), so that would also be why Ran is physically stronger than Kazuha.
Now, I have explained before that when Japanese people say agressive behavior they don’t mean actually aggressive, but just blunt and expressive since people in Japan are very reserved and passive and don’t openly express themselves that much. So Kazuha doesn’t actually have any aggressive behavior.
Now, I know that Heiji and Kazuha are known for bickering, but did you know that they bicker just as much as Shinran? Even Ran compared Heiji and Kazuha’s bickering to her and Shinichi’s because they’re so similar. Not to mention that even Shinichi and Ran call each other idiot, just with another word “boge” “Baka”. Even Aoko and Kaito bicker and call each other names “bakaito”, “ahoko”. So far all the canon couples in dcmk bicker. Maybe it’s because we see Heiji and Kazuha together more than we see Shinichi and Ran together that we think that they’re the bickering couple. Plus I don’t see any problem with bickering as it’s a healthy thing in a relationship.
When Heiji and Kazuha bicker it’s either because Heiji is teasing Kazuha, or because Heiji is acting and behaving like an idiot lol. Now rather than keeping it in and holding in the frustration, she immediately lets him know that she doesn’t like it and she expresses her frustration. She bottled up her frustrations twice so far, the first time she ended up crying and the second time she lashed out at him and kicked him out of the room which resulted in hurting the both of them. However, when they bicker, they get over it like five minutes later and doesn’t end up hurting them in the long run.
But most of the time they’re not bickering. For some reason people think that Heiji and Kazuha bicker most of the time and that’s actually not true at all. Most of the time it’s actually peaceful.

Watching Detective Conan again
How long has it been since I watched it I wonder? I'm not even sure when I stopped tbh, but I do remember stopping because Anime-Conan stopped subbing it. After a bit of deliberation and encouragement (from the brother that wants to watch it too), I decided to watch everything again from the beginning. Well, my brother told me to start from like episode 200 but I think I've missed out and forgotten too many things. Oh, and I don't like starting things from the middle haha. I'm currently up to episode 75. I want to watch the next episode so so badly because it's the first appearance of Kaitou Kid but I need to wait for my brother to finish his nap first lol. Ever since I was a kid, I've always loved Kaitou Kid, there's this thing about mysterious Phantom thieves that attract people haha. Like how I used to love Dark in DNAngel. But Kaitou Kid is special I guess. He doesn't appear all the time, but when he does, it's always a very fun, interesting and engaging case. Kid himself also makes it very enjoyable since his personality is fun. I've always loved his magic haha. Another character that I always look forward to seeing would be Hattori Heiji, I always used to just remember him as the Osaka guy haha! But I really loved his unique accent and funny personality. I love how he and Shinichi are such buddies hahaha. He's a cool guy that I always liked as well. I also like how Kaitou Kid (Kuroba Kaito), Hattori Heiji and Kudo Shinichi all have a childhood sweetheart which respectively are Aoko, Kazuha and Ran. It's kinda funny and might even be considered laziness on the author's part that they're all like that but personally, I really love that it's like that. They all have that one girl that is special to them and despite what they all say and do, they love each other very much. It also helps that they all have parents that are super busy or carefree and thus cultivating their relationship as one of love and of family. They're practically family hahaha and I guess that's what I love about their relationships. It's still blossoming but they're solidly placed in each other's lives. They might not be "official" but they practically are. (Although I was watching an episode and apparently Shinichi confessed to Ran in front of the Big Ben or something so I'll have to look forward to that one!) I like how they all start from similar circumstances (childhood friend, aikido and karate etc) but they're all very different as well and that's why I enjoy all of their relationships. I also really like Mouri Kogorou hahaha, not because he's an idiot but I think ever since that episode where he went to his University judo club reunion and one of his old friends killed a friend in the club as well, I've always thought that this is probably what Eri (ex-wife, Ran's Mum) saw in him. It was definitely a memorable episode. Especially when Shinichi respected Kogorou's desire to be the one to discover who really killed the victim, since they were all his close friends. You could really see how difficult it must have been for him. He was also really cool when he did an over arm throw on the culprit saying he didn't want to understand what drives people to kill others. He was really really cool. I like these episodes when Shinichi helps him grow as a detective and guides him to solving the case instead of just putting him to sleep. I still remain envious of Conan for having all those little gadgets to help him! Those shoes are so useful and those glasses to track people dangg. The voice changing bow tie is still so cool too. Gotta love his whole iconic outfit aye haha. But it's kinda crazy huh? It's been like 22 years and yet I can still relate to Conan very much and love the cases. Gotta say the anime original cases are much easier to figure out than the manga ones haha! Not a fan of the Detective Boys episodes but I know it's needed and the appeal of it. Luckily, they're not that frequent. Another memorable episode would have to be the Beethoven Moonlight Sonata case. I'm not sure if I've watched it before but the first movement of Moonlight Sonata was so beautiful, I couldn't help but fall in love with it! Oh, and I love Shinichi's parents hahaha! I like how they planned a whole little mystery for him to find clues for etc, that episode was funny because I remembered it was them haha. I also found it cute that Shinichi didn't want to go overseas with them, not only because he wanted to catch the Black Organisation himself but because he didn't want to leave Ran. Now that I think about it, it's not hard for me to still love Detective Conan after all, since I watched it before. Kinda like Rurouni Kenshin, I've been exposed to it already so it would in a sense be more difficult for me to not like them hahaha. 1994 aye, they're so old but still so relevant. I've been watching Kenshin too btw, I'm up to the Kyoto arc and I'm starting to think that the live action movies definitely did an awesome job on the costumes and makeup. They also did a good job on casting! Kenshin was great, but Soujiro and Saito Hajime were really good as well. But the best thing was definitely the actor for Kenshin (Satoh Takeru?) and the costumes! The iconic costumes were replicated beautifully. Haha, I derailed. Nevertheless, I hope I will catch up to all 846(?) episodes of Detective Conan soon. It's long, but that's the history of two decades right?
