an update on the crazy idea i mentioned: i have started on the paper prototype

the tl;dr: i had the crazy idea of making a small model carousel to display my DCA pins on. and since i'm having a bit of an artblock, this will provide a good break for me.

also apologies for the delay on replying to asks! you're all so sweet and your messages always brighten my day. i will get to you as soon as i can! i'm just arting a little slower as of late :')

so i ordered the youtooz dca pins because i earn adult money now and this is what i choose to spend that adult money on. and i realized i'm probably not gonna wear them because i'd be too scared of losing them, but i also don't wanna just put them in a box or frame them (some are bobble-headed and some dangle! i gotta let them move yknow?)

then this crazy idea came to mind... what if i made a tiny model carousel to display the pins on? that way they're displayed safely, but they are free to move around and be played with and i can remove them if i ever DO feel comfortable wearing them out. and if i ever get more DCA pins or keychains (like fan merch yknow 😍) then i can always add another "tier" to the carousel and make it taller. or i can mix and match what goes on the carousel. i also already have a lazy susan (i bought a pack of them from amazon for my spices and sauces) so, i could just put the model on it to make it spin (so i don't even need to make the spinning base!)

so yeah, this is going to be occupying my time and brain for the next couple of days (i'm somewhat going through a bit of an artblock too, so this will help me take a little break)

I've been thinking about this for a while since the whole event went down but I don't know if I want to write for enstars anymore. Obviously my rinhime zine fic is mostly finished and that'll get posted in March, and there are a few events some friends are already getting ready for privately that I've already expressed interest in that I'll probably be doing as well later this year, but as for any unrelated wips they might get stuck in limbo unless I really get motivated to finish them.

HOWEVER, I will still be taking enstars requests when I reblog ask games etc (maybe don't expect me to be timely on them compared to other requests though), and if you are interested in commissioning me through the fics for gaza campaign, I will still write that. I just won't be starting or continuing any larger personal projects related to the franchise, at least for the near future. I've been trying to find a replacement for the enstars shaped hole in my brain in things like 18trip, mahoyaku, reverse 1999, etc and you might have noticed I've been working on a large mahoyaku fic as is that I'm wanting to finish soonish if I can get motivated to finish it. Also if you're interested in any of these games or franchises, please feel free to talk to me! I'm more than happy to get you into them, especially mhyk and 18trip which have relatively small fanbases in the west right now.

Finally, starting on February 1st I'll be updating my theme here to the one currently on my main blog. I just like it better and don't want it to go to waste just for a month on my main. Nothing too crazy.

hm. after all this time I think i'm gonna take down that journal masterlist as my pinned post. I think I finally realized the issue I've been having with writing the rest of the story: basically I wrote myself into a corner by making it so that Khalan was too weak to write anymore - narratively, it makes sense, but realistically, it just made things a lot harder for me, since I didn't feel as comfortable trying to write from either Antony or Aya's POV instead.

so I'm kind of just? at that point where I don't think I'll be able to actually continue with it at all, instead of it just being a "maybe someday I'll finish it" story. but if that's the case, then I'd like to free up my pinned post for other arts that I'd want to showcase at the top of my blog :0

I'll still be sure to link to my AO3 tho for anyone who is still interested in reading anything I've written! I don't have much, and I don't have plans on sharing much of my other writing either, but the link will be in my profile description anyway.

Kickstarter end and what's next: Thank you all!!

Most important part first: thank you so much to everybody who pledged, and there's no way to phrase this without sounding cheesy but couldn't have done this without you and i can't express how excited I am!!

The campaign has ended not only fully funded with £517, but at a 323% funding AND reached all the stretch goals I had planned! Never expected to get this far and I am thrilled.

I have left a timeline of what will happen next vis a vis ordering and shipping rewards in the update on the kickstarter page so will skip that here

If you or anyone you know missed the campaign, I will be selling the books online and at conventions (avalible online only after all rewards are sent). Any leftover non-book rewards will likely get packaged into a few merch bundles with the book and not sold seperatly until I run out (unless I get an odd amount? will have to see)(and there will likely be leftovers, as I will get a few more than what I need, as I don't want to get the exact amount only for a few items to end up as b grades)

Now as for the comic: I will try and aim to start regular comic updates after all of the kickstarter pledges are all sent out, which if i'm lucky gives me some time to take a break, as I have spent. A long time juggling a lot of things to do, from the kickstarter to multiple conventions to various irl things and my day job.

on canon + tweaks:

my rogue takes inspiration from 616 comics canon, plus a bit from x-men animated and x-men '97, with a sprinkling of headcanon for spice.

for her history, I've technically blended canons. My order of operations is Anna running away from home after her mother's death at 12/13, then meeting Cody while on the run and presenting as a mutant by putting him in his coma, then meeting Mystique. as Mystique.

I am keeping rogue's tiiiiny bit of esp. that one's just for me. she honestly thinks of it as having good instincts, but I like it.

I am also big into leaning into the identity issues in younger/earlier in timeline verses, even outside of carol--for example, my rogue will occasionally find herself with lingering tastes, interests, dislikes, etc for varying amounts of time.

I am willing to write rogue with her powers both uncontrolled and under her conscious control depending on when we're talking.

unless it's somehow intensely relevant, I'm likely to keep rogue's powers restricted to needing skin-on-skin contact. not that I ever mind her being OP as fuck, but I prefer it as a narrative and symbolic beat

on verses

I will try to meet my partners where they're at, timeline-wise.

that being said, my 'not otherwise specified' verse is somewhere post-Romy wedding, pre-Krakoa.

since they're so distinct, it's worth saying that although I blend & am flexible, my anna marie is not the x-men evolution or the films version.

characters from those verses are still welcome to interact! goodness knows that there're enough multiverse shenanigans to go around.

I am always open to plotting aus! hit me with 'em and we'll see what we can get up to :)

on shipping/relationships:

by default, my rogue is in a polyamorous relationship with remy (as written by thwipsthrown) and robin (written on my multimuse blog, auroradicit). if partner(s) are referenced during a thread, these are they.

I am selective with other romantic ships. often other ships are within the context of this polycule, but I'm theoretically open to writing in other verses as well.

I will never assume relationships. This is the first time in yoinks I've written a character who's canonically partnered/married, but this still applies.

that being said, I am always happy to plot established dynamics. I fucking love it. if you've got a vibe in mind, feel free to message me.

on mains/affiliates:

affiliates are those I have plotted and chatted with heavily OOC. their portrayals are considered canon to my blog. this may include being referenced in other threads, being tagged by default in asks, made random shiny objects, etc.

I am still open to writing with other versions of these characters! every portrayal is different and beloved. I love seeing how those differences lead to unique interactions and dynamics.
