Hi, ma'am. I'm so happy to see your requests are finally open. I've actually been thinking twice whether I should send you my request or not, since I understand that you are still grasping on some things in real life. But I hope you won't mind me sharing my idea.
So, I'm thinking of LeviXEvelyn Fairytale AU, where Evelyn is a magical creature who becomes a slave to whoever captures her, while Levi is a ruthless mortal who obsesses over the idea of owning and possibly breeding one her kind. One day, Evelyn wanders to the mortal world out of boredom despite being warned of what humans might do to her. Of course Levi happens to be around and she gets trapped by him, then held captive in his home. Evelyn can do no more but serve and grant him everything he desires, ultimately being forced to be his wife.
Just an idea. Thank you for looking into it. Take care always, author. ☺️
Never Stop Hunting You Part 2|Fairy AU
Tumblr media
(A/N: Sorry its been so long Anon! I did see this request I promise however like I said getting back to writing has been slow and steady. I decided that the best way to tackle this request was to do a part two to the Fairy AU which I think is rather similar to the request. Thank you so much for the request and I hope you enjoy!)
WARNINGS: implied noncon/dubcon, big age difference, kidnapping, slavery, violence, power imbalance, mind breaking, yandere behaviour, yandere themes, blackmail, etc.
================================================
Levi wasn't anything if not thorough. He had spent years researching these creatures and knew what he wanted to do with one when he caught it. For now, a thing the size of his finger was enough, but that wouldn't be acceptable for long. He had plans that he knew this little creature wouldn't like.
He bounced the glass bottle on his knee, feeling her tiny eyes on him, indignant and filled with fury. He was determined to ignore her, let the thing stew in her rage, that suited him just fine. They would be home soon enough, and then she would know what kind of man she was dealing with.
================================================
Levi sat the bottle on his desk, pulling up his chair and sitting to study her. He could tell she was trying to look brave, but he could see the fear in her eyes.
"You're a pretty little thing, aren't you?" He tapped the glass gingerly.
Naturally being so small and stuck in a bottle he couldn't hear the aggressive words he was sure was coming out of her mouth as she moved her lips. He'd find use for those lips soon enough.
"I don't think you quite understand what kind of position you're in little one. You think because you're so small and could slip away in a moment that it means you're safe from me." He rummages through a drawer, pulling out a stack of neatly organized notes, reading through them. "Now if I'm not mistaken...there are ways to make it so that you aren't so...easy to escape me."
Levi glanced back over at her, enjoying the look of fear in her eyes. It was telling, there must be some truth in his research. Turning a thing mortal, that would be fascinating indeed. He wondered what it would be like, to taint the flesh of something so sacred and perfect, tainted by a lower being such as himself.
He pulls out another vial, setting it down on the mahogany wood, pondering what he should do. It could kill her, or turn into some kind of monster that he would no longer desire. No matter, he would just get another, keep going until he got it right. He was still young, he could spend as much time as he needed to get what his heart desired. It would be worth it in the end.
"So my dear, lets see if you're going to sink, or swim."
She gives him a confused look before he opens the bottle holding her and dumps the contents of the vial within.
Levi saw the panic in her eyes as the liquid threatened to drown her, he knew it was risky, but then she would be forced to take all of what he had given her, he couldn't stand stubbornness.
She coughed and sputtered, trying to swim, gulping down the stuff until she was entirely spent.
"That's much better, pride and stubbornness will get you no where in life. Its best to submit to me early on, that way you won't be set up for disappointment."
As she lays on the bottom of the bottle, drenched and surrounded in the stuff, she peers at him from the inside of the bottle, the world spinning and turning dizzy, fear filled every fiber in her tiny body. What kind of man was this, that had stolen her from her home? What had he done to her, and would she ever see her lovely forest again? As she fell into the darkness of her mind, she couldn't help the tears that fell to soothe her despair.
================================================
Evelyn's limbs were heavy when she awoke, that light and freeing feeling she used to feel in her body gone.
The world spun, and the light was too bright shining through the curtains. As she took in the simple but tidy room she was utterly confused, where was the warm and pretty trees she used to sleep under? A human house was not something she had ever seen, only heard about in tales meant to frighten little fairies to behave and stay in the forest. Evelyn had always thought those stories to be fake, meant to clip her wings, the wings that she stretched now and seemed to lack their strength.
Searing pain jolted her out of the blissful half sleep that she had been wading in. She bolted up out of bed, turning to see the man who had been haunting her nightmares holding her bloody wings in his hands.
"Now that is interesting." He looked from the wings to her. "And that is even more interesting."
Evelyn looked down at herself, flushing as she saw her bare form and grabbing at the furs on the bed to cover herself.
"Don't even think about it-" He climbs on after her, clawing the furs away. "I told you, I can't stand stubbornness."
================================================
Levi had explained the situation to her simply as she was pinned against his chest. Now little more than a mortal to be used as a bit of flesh to serve his twisted desires. It was like he was punishing her for spending so long hunting for her kind. And she had no choice but to do as he said.
================================================
No one in their village questioned where Levi had gotten such a beautiful bride, just that they were jealous at how such an unlikeable man could gain any woman's favor. But they supposed that any man could seem more likeable if he had blessed with with a child so early on. Still, she seemed grim, but maybe a baby would soften that.
After all, who would believe the story that Evelyn had tried to spin? She was as crazy as Levi was with all that fairy talk. They seemed perfect for each other.

for a day like this
timeskip! hanamaki takahiro x gn! reader
summary: a coincidence on a train ride home leads to a confession and kissing in the rain.
note: requested by anon :) here, semi long one guys
cw: light swearing, semi makeout scene
wc: 1.8k
Tumblr media
the sky shrouded by a dense fog, the blue of it completely concealed by a covering of wooly grey clouds. rain continuing to pour from the desolute atmosphere as you heard a disembodied female voice announce the departure of the train. you sighed, train starting to move as you look out your window only to see a strike of lightning, the muffled thundering of the storm only growing louder, reminding you of the impending consequences of today's events.
"miss..miss...excuse me miss?" shaken from your daze, you meet the face of a middle aged woman carrying an infant and a young child, "miss, would you mind switching seats with me? there just isn't enough space for my baby's breastfeeding equipment on the other side." she asked apologetically, "even though i specifically requested it," mumbling the last part under her breath.
you press your lips in to a small smile, grabbing your things as she thanked you in relief, your eyes light up at a familiar shade of strawberry brown, occupying the very seat next to the one you were supposed to replace, "makki?" you couldn’t help the grin as called out from behind.
he whipped his head towards you, eyes widened, mouth slightly agape as he eyed you a few times. as if making sure you weren't a fake, making sure the familiar resonance and tenor of your voice, the one he replays to himself some nights, making sure it wasn't just an auditory hallucination. "y/n."
eyes lighting up with excitement, you speed up towards him, engulfing his sitting form in a warm hug, arms wrapped around his neck as he breaths in your scent.
"missed me huh?" you don't miss the playful glint in his eyes as you finally let him go. "yeah," a beaming grin displacing the forlorn look on your face.
"what were you doing in the city?" you asked, squeezing past him into the window seat as he towered over to the side of the walkway to make room, you see his eyes glaze over for a split second before he says "just a reunion with the boys."
"how are they! you guys were always quite the gang."
"yeah," he paused, slight hesitation lingering in his voice, "they're good i mean, really good."
the thunder crackling, a shot of lightning briefly lighting the gloomy sky as the scenery beyond your cabin window blurred with the speeding train.
"you look awful," he says, words slipping out absentmindedly, his eyes widening in absolute horror as he spluttered an apology, rambling on, "not as in you're ugly but your clothes, your stuff, it just looks a little...disheveled."
you burst into laughter, the first time today, "my bag was stolen today, some guy on a motorbike snatched it and knocked me over, it was crazy! i tried chasing him too!" you recounted the story again, but for the first time today, in humour.
"pfft, sorry not the point, you tried chasing him?" his mouth curving into his signature lazy grin.
"what's your point strawberry head?" narrowing your eyes at him as he raised his hands, pleading innocence. "you okay though?"
"i'll survive, can't say the same for my job, had some really important work documents there, weren't supposed make copies, now they're gone."
"oh..."
"yeah, i'm so pissed but well the jury will be out after the weekend," you sighed, "but anyway should we be talking about how you look just as bad as me, makki?"
a boyish laugh resonates from him, it does something to you, the familiar scratchiness of it inscribed in your mind from long ago. the corner of his eyes crinkled, "shit i guess i do," he said. "mhmm," you hummed, nodded along in laughter.
"the reunion," he cleared his throat, "i mean first off, this is not even close to being as bad as your day," he precautioned.
"just get on with it," you rolled your eyes.
twisting and fiddling the ring on his pinky, "just saw everyone doing really well, what with oikawa and iwaizumi being on olympic teams, even mattsun has a steady career and plan you know? i think i'm second guessing myself? i thought i was living life, having fun, but sometimes everything feels like filler before death.”
you nodded along to him, listening intently. you had always known makki to be more of a free spirit so this was rare.
"we all have those days," you mumble under your breath.
you let a comfortable silence fall between you, rummaging your bag for the slightly squished convenience store sandwich and your earphones.
"it’s tough huh, trying to find our place now.” you said, handing him one side of your earphones.
“yeah, so much easier when you’re two dumbasses goofing around, playing with erasers and tic tac toe during class," he slotted in the bud, and you do the same, as the ambient music filled your ears.
“you and mattsun?" you probed.
“no you, you and me.” for second his playful facade falters. his eyes lingering on yours as you held each other captive, your stare burning through his enigmatic grey eyes, a raw emotional intensity that made it seem like time had slowed down, neither of you finding the courage to make a move in the moment of impenetrable tension.
"i guess the rain is quite fitting for a day like this." you finally dared to look away, taking in the storm weathering just beyond your window, "but somehow i feel a little better now makki. maybe it's your pink hair."
"you do love it," he said, "i feel a little better too," he whispered, and you barely catch it.
he took a deep breath in, releasing it in a heavy sigh. “miyagi air right? nothing like it.”
“can’t tell if you’re a free spirit or an old man now.” you stepped off the platform, bags in hand.
"let me walk you tonight. you don’t have an umbrella.”
“neither do you?” you pointed out, handing him one of your bags as the both of you walked towards the exit.
"don't worry, i've got a plan," he winked a cheeky smile playing on his lips.
the wind howls, your hair violently blowing into his face, "this was your genius plan makki? run a little faster will you!" you shout over the blaring pour of the rain, incredulous.
"easy for you to say, you're not the one hauling your heavy ass bag." one of your bags slung around his shoulder, arms stretched around the both of you as he holds his jacket up for cover. well, your cover, his exposed side completely drenched.
"we're close," you called out, awkwardly trudging across the puddle ridden road, his warmth emanating from beside you as your heart raced in your chest, though you couldn't decide if that was the rain or makki, more probably both you finally decided.
"we actually made it in one piece." you breathe a sigh of relief as you finally made it under the roof of your home, catching your breath a little as he twisted his rain soaked jacket.
"what are you waiting for? aren't you gonna open it?" he asked.
"okay what?"
"open the door?"
"i don't have the keys, they got stolen remember?" you said dubiously, now working the water out of your clothes as he gave you a baffled look.
"what? how are we gonna get in?
"well i assumed you had the keys?"
"how in the world would in have your keys?"
"in that confe-, letter i gave you? said you were here all the time you might as well have the key and gave you a key?"
"letter? what letter, y/n?"
"wait the letter...you didn't receive it?" the colour in your face drained, you took a sudden notice to his drenched figure.
"you're soaked dumbass." you say in an attempt to quickly move on, unzipping your bag to pull out a fresh t-shirt. he tries to stop you but you don't let him.
"shut up just let me do this makki." you pull on his forearm, tugging him down to meet your eye-level, his face inches from yours as you gently pat his face and neck dry.
"is this just an excuse to kiss me?" the same lazy smirk playing on his face again but his expression morphs into an unreadable one, eyes clouding, "the letter," he whispered looking down at you, his bangs skirting his lashes as you dabbed his cheek with a t-shirt.
"you wish you could kiss me," you joke.
"i do wish," he doesn't.
"was it a confession?" you didn't answer him, "can i kiss you makki?" the burning desire held off long enough as you somehow found the courage to ask.
makki broke into a smile, clumsily taking your hands in his, hurriedly dragging you back into the rain shower. hard rain hitting you, massaging your head, but even as you felt your senses become overwhelmed your attention was still singly engrossed by the man in front of you.
"what are you doing? i just patted you dry!" you reprimanded him, shouting over the pour of the rain, looking up at him, now 6'1, his soft gaze easily slipping past your faux stern one.
"it's more dramatic this way," he whispered, his hand gently caressing your face, thumb running circles on the now flushed apples of your cheek, his eyes becoming clearer to you as you finally begun to understand the liquid grey eyes that held you captive for so long. your heart speeding up again, butterflies fluttering aggressively in your stomach.
you tiptoed a little, eagerly reaching a hand into his now drenched strawberry pink hair that you were always so fixated on. he responded in kind, securing an arm around your waist, hoisting you up, you body colliding into his warmth, lower lip tingling a little as he traced it with his slightly calloused thumb. finally, he cups your jaw, taking your lips in his.
his lips warm, soft, impossibly plush against your own, the soft tickle of your hair on his cheek, your honeyed taste playing on his tongue, the shared warmth between you melding into one, your heartbeat synchronous, in perfect parallel with your harmonised movement. lips slightly parted, he bit your lower lip as you moaned a little.
"you think the neighbours can see us?" you pulled away, holding his cheeks in your hands, still in a slight daze.
"don't know, don't care."
"when did it become a drizzle?" you asked as he shrugged in response, desperate to capture your lips in his again.
and you guys stood there, in the light drizzle of the rain, soft rays of sunlight finally peaking through the glum clouds, making out for the audience of your entire neighbourhood, enjoying the petrichor of the rain. because yeah you were still locked out of your house, yeah you were probably getting fired and yeah he still didn't know shit about what he was gonna do, but everything seemed just a little bit better.
"i guess the rain was quite fitting for a day like this.”

Part 12 Part 14
Part 13
Liam said we should drive to the restaurant. I wanted to get an Uber because I didn't think we would get a car park close to the restaurant. The shoes I was wearing were not made for walking.
"We don't have to worry about the car. They have a valet service," Liam said when I suggested an Uber would be better.
Of course, they do. I don't think I've ever used a valet service in my life, and Liam tells me like it's an everyday thing. I suppose it is for him. Earlier in the week, I was amazed to find out that he gets driven to work most days even though he only lives about 10 minutes away. No wonder movies and tv shows are so expensive to make if they have to pay for things like drivers on top of everything else.
I was excited about going in his car, though. I was itching to drive it. I wanted to ask him if I could, but I didn't. As stupid as it was, I was scared he'd say no. Every guy who had said no to letting me drive his car ended up being a prick. So I was floored when he said I could drive if I wanted.
"Really?" I asked. I was practically bouncing with excitement.
"Yeah, you seemed to like it. I was going to ask if you wanted to take it out before we got..." Liam paused, seemingly to look for the right word. "Distracted."
I clapped my hands and squealed like a child. I'm such a dag, but I was excited. I'd never driven a car that fast or expensive before.
The drive was exhilarating but too short. Its 5.0 litre, supercharged V8 engine was insanely powerful, and since it was AWD, its handling took me a bit to get used to. When we got to the restaurant, I couldn't stop smiling. "Thank you! That was heaps good!"
"You're hilarious."
"Why? What did I do?" I asked, getting out of the car and handing the keys to the valet and thanking him.
"Don't think I didn't notice that you deliberately went the long way and on the highway so you could drive faster."
"I don't know what you're talking about." I widened my eyes and tried to look innocent.
Liam just shook his head and placed his hand on my back, guiding me into the restaurant.
The food was modern Australian, Liam had a scotch fillet and salad, and I had barramundi. Liam wasn't drinking and said he would drive home. I had a couple of glasses of white wine and felt a bit sauced.
I had trouble staying awake on the way back to Liam's, and eventually, the rumble of the engine lulled me into sleep. The wine combined with the stressful week had caught up with me. I woke up when Liam pulled into the garage.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to doze off," I said as we got out of the car.
"Never mind," Liam said. "Come on, let's go to bed."
We walked across Liam's backyard holding hands. I looked around as the first time I was lead through here, I only had eyes for Liam. It was big for a house so close to the city. "You have a pool? I wish you would have told me. I would have brought my swimmers."
Liam opened his back door. "You don't need bathers," he said winking. I blushed then yawned. "Poor princess. Do you want a shower? Or straight to bed?"
I nodded, "yeah, a shower would be good. I've gotta wash this makeup off too." I kicked my heels off. The relief was euphoric, my calves were sore, and I rubbed them as I bent to pick up my shoes.
"Want a bath instead?" Liam asked, noticing my massage. It was sweet that he noticed little things like that. "The bathroom on the third floor has an enormous bath. I haven't had a chance to use it yet."
"Fuck, yes! That would be awesome. What other crazy shit do you have in this place? I think you'd better give me a tour tomorrow."
Liam laughed as we went up the lift. "Yeah, ok, there's a couple of things you might like that I've not shown you yet."
The bathroom was stunning, like a hotel or spa. The bath was the hero piece of the room, and it was huge. It sat in the middle of the bathroom on a raised platform and had tiled steps around it. The whole room was decorated to be a romantic space, a couples bathroom. Candles and body wash sat by the bath, and the room's lighting was warm. Robes hung on the wall near the tub. Although there were a shower and sinks, there was no toilet. The room was definitely built for romance, not practicality.
"I thought you said you hadn't used this bathroom."
"I haven't." I pointed out the candles, soaps, towels and robes. "A stylist got all that, fitted out each room with basics so I can move in, and it's all done." My jaw dropped.
"Your life..."
"Isn't normal." He interrupted with a half-smile. "I know." Liam started the bath. "Do you need anything? Your toiletry bag? Toothbrush?"
I nodded. Liam kissed me as he left to get my stuff. The bath would probably take 20 minutes to fill, so I thought I'd wash my make-up off and brush my teeth while it did. I got undressed and put one of the robes on. They were both huge, no his and hers, but it was warm and soft.
Liam returned, and I started to wash up. I put my hair in a bun with a scrunchy and washed my face. I brushed my teeth and saw that Liam was sitting on the edge of the bath, still fully clothed, watching the water fill up.
"You're not getting in?" I asked with a mouthful of toothbrush and toothpaste. Liam looked at me confused, so I finished brushing, rinsed and repeated my question.
Liam turned the water off, bath finally full and got up. "I thought maybe you'd like to soak by yourself for a while."
"No," I said. I wrapped my arms around Liam's waist, feeling short again as my head rested against his chest. "I want you to get in with me."
He lifted my chin and kissed me softly, almost lazily. "Alright, Sweetheart."
I lifted his jumper and raised it over his head. Liam had to help by ducking. He sat and took his shoes and socks off and then stood to remove his pants. I hung my robe back up, and we both got in the water. I sat between his legs and laid my back against his chest, my head resting on his shoulder. The water was bliss, almost too hot but soothing. Liam had put some fragrance in the water, and it smelled of lavender. Breathing it in relaxed me, and I closed my eyes.
Liam nuzzled into my neck and caressed my arm. I smiled as he kissed my neck and shoulders until I felt him stir against my back. He stopped kissing me, and he just held me close to his chest like he was trying not to get turned on. It didn't seem to be working as I could still feel him, but I admired his efforts.
"Lana, I want to ask you something," Liam said. His timbre was soft but echoed slightly through the room, making his words seem more ominous than he probably meant them to be.
My body tensed slightly, and hesitantly I said, "Okay."
He cleared his throat, and I realised he was nervous. I don't think I had heard him unsure like that before. I felt cold. "I uh, I have a premiere to attend on Thursday evening, one of Myra's. Tom, my agent, set it up." Oh fuck. He's not going to ask me to go with him, is he? "I would very much like it if you came with me." I sat up quickly, and water splashed everywhere. "Sarah said that since the cats out of the bag and I'm serious about you, you should come too." He added quickly.
I looked back at him, furious. "Why would you ask me that?"
"Because you're my fucking girlfriend." He was also mad now.
"I'm not your fucking girlfriend." I stood up and got out of the bath. I almost slipped on the tiles as I did. His hand shot out to steady me, but I pulled my arm out of his grasp. I stomped over to the robes and pulled one on. Then I grabbed my clothes from the floor.
"What are you doing?" Liam asked, getting out himself. He didn't put his robe on, and he just stood there. I don't know why, but that seemed to make me angrier.
"Getting my shit and going home."
"What the fuck, Lana? Why?"
I grabbed my bag and went to leave and found him blocking my way. "Because I want to, that's why. Get out of my way."
"What's wrong with you?"
"Just piss off."
"No, tell me what's wrong. Why don't you want to be seen with me? Why don't you want to be my girlfriend? I don't understand." He was shouting now, his voice full of anger and frustration. "You treat me like a fuck toy one minute, and the next, you're treating me like we've been married for ten years. What do you want from me? You say you aren't my girlfriend, but you sure act like you are. If you just want to fuck me, fine. Come over and fuck me, then leave. But don't lay with me and cuddle all day, cook me food, confide in me, talk to me at night until you fall asleep and make me fall in love with you. I can't take that."
For a moment, I softened. In so many ways, Liam was right. We had fallen into this relationship so easily. I felt like I knew him because we talked for months before meeting. I did enjoy hanging out with him talking. He's often felt like home to me, a safe place, a person I could trust. He was my boyfriend in everything but name. He saw the change in me and moved towards me.
I stiffened, "No, fuck you. Don't put this on me. I told you to go slow. I told you I don't want a relationship in the spotlight, and you won't listen to me." My frustration poured out. "You lured me in under false pretences with no thought about how I would feel. Like having the great Liam Cross interested in you would be enough. You're so fucking self-centred. I'm not impressed by all this," I waved my hand around the room, "Or that," I waved my hand at his naked body. "For fuck's sake, put some fucking clothes on. You're not that attractive."
Liam looked over at the robes and saw how far away they were. He shook his head. "I think we need to talk, Lana. You can't run away from this."
"You can't keep me here." He just raised an eyebrow. I gasped horrified. "You wouldn't?"
His body tensed, and he looked like he was going to try to stop me for a minute. But then his shoulders slumped, and he stepped aside.
"Thank you," I said through gritted teeth as I walked out.
I took the stairs down to his room and got dressed. He followed me, still naked and dripping water. I thought he would try to keep talking to me, but he went straight to his dressing room.
When he came out, he wore tracksuit pants, his chest was bare, and he still had beads of water clinging to his chest. My traitorous eyes looked him up and down, and I noticed it looked like he wasn't wearing underwear. Fuck me. He was magnificent. I tore my eyes away and back to packing my bag. I wasn't going to let his body distract me.
"Please, Lana, just talk to me."
"What's the point?"
"The point is so you'll let me in. You talk to me, you tell me things about you, and just as it cuts close to the bone, you clam up."
"I'm my own person, Liam. I'm allowed to have secrets." My bag was packed, and I stood up with it.
"Why didn't you tell me about Andy and your father's car accident? I had to read about it on the fucking internet."
I felt like I had been punched in the guts. I felt both hot and cold waves flow over me, and for a moment, I thought I was going to throw up.
"You're a fucking prick." I was raging.
"Alright, Lana, have it your way. Go back to being miserable and alone. Go put your wedding ring back on because obviously, you'd rather stay in love with a dead man than be seen with me." He was still shouting. Liam's body was taught, so much tension in his muscles. His lips almost looked cruel, twisted up into a sneer. His eyebrows were drawn low, making his eyes seem small.
"Yeah, you're right. I would. I shouldn't be here with you." I was near screaming now. I was irrational, tired, slightly drunk and drained. "I should be miserable and alone, and I should be thankful for that. It's my fucking fault he's dead. I fucking killed him. It should have been me. It's my fault..." I sobbed. The tears started, and I knew they couldn't be stopped. "Oh God, it's my fault." I couldn't breathe. I dropped my bag and clawed at my shirt, trying to get a breath. I was on my knees, now fighting the panic that threatened to overwhelm me.
Liam's arms came around me. I tried to push him away, fight him. He was too strong. "Shhhh shhh." He tried to soothe me. He rubbed my back. I wanted to scream at him to go away, to leave me alone. He wouldn't let go. He held me tighter until I couldn't fight anymore and just let myself go. He pulled me onto his lap, and I curled up into him as he whispered, "You're ok. It's ok." I kept sobbing until I clutched at his neck and cried into him.
I don't know how long we sat there. It felt like hours. "I'm sorry," I said when I had calmed. My throat was sore. I don't think I could have spoken any louder.
"Don't be. I shouldn't have pushed you. You were right. I was being selfish."
"I should have told you before you found out. It still hurts. I can deal with them being gone, but I can't get past the guilt. I should have been in the car with Dad. Andy was doing me a favour because I was too tired from Christmas. I wanted a day off, you know? A day where I didn't have to deal with people." My throat was feeling raw, and my mouth was dry.
"You don't have to tell me."
"No, I do. Just let me get through it, ok?" He nodded and pulled me into a more comfortable position on his lap. "I was supposed to take my Dad to Dave's house for a second Christmas. My parents had split up a couple of years ago. I fought with my mum the day before and didn't want to go through it all again the next day. My Dad couldn't drive anymore; his eyes were too bad. So Andy said he'd drop him off and I could stay in bed. He said he would tell them I had a migraine. So I laid in bed sleeping while my father and husband laid on the road, dying, trapped under a truck."
"I'm so sorry," Liam said. "I don't know how I would deal with that either. But it's not your fault. You know that, right?"
I didn't say anything. Liam was quiet after that. But he didn't let me go.
