Hello!!!!!! Hehe, thiz iz actually super weird trying to write an intro-- give me a minute.

So, HIII!!!!!!! I'm Unpleasant! That'z not a joke, that iz literally my name. There'z no "deep reason" behind it, it iz literally just what people refer to me az. But, if that'z too weird, I do also go by Unplez or Plez for short.

Uh, pronounz? I don't really care, actually. I don't have a set gender, I've never really met a gradient who doez. That being said, since I started hanging with Infected I have been called he and she specifically a lot... so if it'z easiest for you, just roll with the crowd.

So, if it wasn't obvious enough from the intro, this is an ask/rp blog for the Unpleasant Gradient from Regretevator, but specifically in the context of the plez-centric au I have created for him. Or, well, the "AU" in question is actually just some freaky amalgamation of all my fucked up headcanons, which means...

I AM NO LONGER DOING DIRECT BLOG ASSOCIATIONS! Really sorry about that, I love my friends with all my heart but if I wanna keep consistency, I'm gonna have to "write the story" on my own. Let's start off by reiterating that I AM NOT OKAY WITH NSFW/EXPLICIT ASKS IN ANY CAPACITY! Sick of getting them, they're repetitive and annoying. Asking safe-for-work questions involving Unpleasant's anatomy is one thing, but I am not responding to ANYTHING involving genetalia.

ALSO! I am very unlikely to respond to things that is either hard to make a unique drawing for or don't progress the story (unlocking "lore" and such). I'm watching your ass, Mango, I know what you like to do (/lh). Joke asks are still okay, you don't *have* to progress story, but please keep in mind my "criteria" for answering asks when sending them. A clean inbox gives me a clear mind. I do not like notifications.

Shipping content: Shipping content is okay, but I don't care much for romance personally and so will likely not play much into it. Please don't push anything, I guess, and nothing that promotes proshipping or any kind of literally illegal pairing. If you dislike any direction taken ship-wise for this blog, then block me and move on with your day.

Roleplaying: While I'd prefer to not be in direct contact with other rp blogs, I am totally cool with roleplaying side stories and stuff, interactions and such! Please keep in mind though, Unpleasant in this is not a very social person, so you're probably not going to get the reaction you want.

PLEASE DON'T SEND YOUR GRADIENT OCS TO THIS ACCOUNT IF YOU WANT ME TO DRAW THEM! Please instead send them to @hexational! A lot of people were sending me their Gradient ocs to the previous Unpleasant account, and as much as I love seeing Gradient ocs and Gradient sonas, I'd love to be able to draw them, and if you are just asking an opinion on them and not an in-character ask or a genuine question involving other gradients I'd much prefer you send them to the account previously tagged!

hi!! i’m a writer myself and despite having mdni on my blog, i still get a lot of minors trying to with my work. i regularly have to check my followers for ages in their bio and i’ve even had minors come in my inbox telling me that i’m ’overreacting’ for not wanting them to read my writing. it’s gotten to the point where i’ve just turned off anon altogether, partially because of the weird people in my inbox and partially so i know i can be safe and not respond to minors by accident.

i guess what i’m trying to get at here is even though you have mdni on your blog, how can you be sure that the people in your inbox aren’t minors. there’s nothing physically stopping them from coming on your blog and sending sexual asks and you seem to facilitate these asks by responding in an equally sexual manner. i hope i’m not coming across as rude, but i just don’t see how you can be sure that you’re not engaging with minors when you respond to anons in a flirtatious and sexual way. if you somehow do check their ages, great! but since they’re anon, i don’t really see how that’s possible…

So, hello. Well, the wording of the question is rather crude to begin with, don't you think? And frankly, I'd prefer to take such questions to DM posts, but if you want to talk, you're welcome. 

First of all, don't you think it's a bit unfair? Accusing anonymous people and then asking a question anonymously? I don't think it's very nice, or do you think I'm going to declare a witch hunt and go on a bashing spree? That's so stupid. Or do you just not like me? Because that's what it sounds like. In general, I don't mind you having an opinion, but by sending a message like that, you knew I'd respond to it. 

Secondly, I know this is going to sound awful and you can totally throw a bunch of shitty comments and posts at me, but let's be honest, even if we check the age of our subscribers and readers every time they subscribe to us, when they ask us questions, comment, reblog, etc., where is the 100% guarantee that those people didn't lie about their age when they created their blog on Tumblr? 

Go to any porn site; age verification is just a tick in the box. These are the horrible realities we face every day. The internet is a place where it is very difficult to verify anything, and unfortunately, there are consequences.

I am in no way supporting the sexualization of minors, and I am certainly not engaging in depravity, although you make it sound that way. 

But I do know that there are many people who can't talk openly about their desires, sexual or otherwise; people who doubt their sexuality and self-acceptance; people who are judged for being different; people who are shamed for being too feminine or masculine; for having problems with daddy or mommy; or simply for being too quiet and shy. Not all of us are going to come out for manifestos and parades. 

And in this case, the only option for them is anonymity. I repeat, I do not support the sexualization of minors in any way, and if you want to accuse me of encouraging such things, I suggest you look at some of the profiles of authors on AO3 who openly use sex scenes with minors and even children in the text of their work. 

I don't know your social circle as a writer, and since you're asking this anonymously, I can't even check your work, but I think the problem is not whether I answer anonymous questions or not, but whether I talk to my bunnies at all. Every time I get messages like this, I think about it. You call me weird, angry, triggering, and now a lecher. Not directly, but the context is clear. 

I've never written messages like that to anyone; you know, it's not nice. I've never intended to offend or hurt anyone with my replies or FFs. But apparently everyone around me, for some strange reason, thinks I'm some source of universal evil while trying to retrain me and change my character and disposition. 

I really hope you are happy with what you are doing.

I just rediscovered this blog, which has been completely inactive since 2017. If you're still following me, I'm so incredibly grateful that you've stuck with it through the long silence. Truthfully, I'd forgotten about my dear Sandi in the rush of life, you know how these things go. But I have so many fond memories from running this blog, at the peak of the daily pokemon hype! I truly hope all the folks from back in the day are doing well.

After losing both the email and password to for this blog, I managed to crack the code to get back in. I don't really know what I'm going to do with it now, but rest assured, I won't be deleting anything.

The last post on this blog was about getting to know me, so I figure it's about time for a life update. Pardon me for getting sentimental for a moment.

Since this blog went on hiatus, I have entered and graduated from my university with a Bachelor's in Marine Biology, with honors, and a minor in Chemistry. I traveled abroad and swam through coral reefs, rescued stranded sea life, and cleaned up beaches. Out of everything, I'm proudest of the time I spent building oyster reefs and restoring our shoreline habitats. I've met so many amazing people, and we've made a real difference in this world. Through working with oysters, I discovered a deep love of the little things, the tiny humble creatures living in crevices, within mud, and on rocks of the seafloor. There are miniature worlds of infinite wonder there, if you take the time to look.

I met the love of my life, nearly got engaged after five truly divine years, and was promptly dumped before I could propose. I still have the ring. At the same time, I moved across the country to an unfamiliar city, where I thought I would be with my love, but instead was completely on my own. Things have been hard. Things have been very, very hard. There are good days and bad days, but I am picking myself up, pulling myself out of the dark. I am building myself a home here, and it is so worth living in. There is so much beauty in this world. There is so much love in the hearts of the people around us.

Art has settled into a pleasant supporter in the background of my life. I don't draw nearly as much as I used to, and my sense of creativity has changed a lot over the years. But I always know that the art will be there for me whenever I decide to pick up pencil and paper again. This blog from years ago taught me the joy of silly little doodles, and I'm so so so grateful for that!

I go by Frankie, these days. They/them or xe/xem pronouns. Currently, I'm in graduate school, preparing to get my PhD in Marine Science. I study little marine worms - how they move, how they affect their environment, and how important they are to the whole ocean. Ask me about my polychaete pictures, I think they're really cute! Honestly, I wish I could go back and tell my 2017-self just how much we've accomplished. Back then, I never thought I'd make it this far. I could never have imagined the breadth of experiences life had waiting for me.

There's still so much more out there to experience. If you followed me in 2017 and you're reading this now - I hope life has treated you well. I hope you've had so many good days since the last time you saw my dear Sandi. And I hope you have so many more good days for years to come!

Some of you may notice that when I went on hiatus, I left some loose ends unresolved. Unanswered messages and asks, comic ideas, that kind of thing. I promise that I didn't do it on purpose at the time! I was a lot younger, didn't understand exactly how to handle my blog getting this big. 2023 State of the Mackerel

Hello fine internet people! The blog portion of my main account has been dormant for quite some time, and I've been wanting to put something here to give the few people who are following me an update. I've also wanted to change a few things on here, so with the end of the year upon us, I wanted to put forward something to help provide some clarity about the blog's past, present, and future.

The Past: Noteworthy Life Events

Since my last official post on here on August of 2021, obviously at least a few notable things have happened in the intervening two years. Here is a quick rundown of the highlights, presented as fake headlines:

Okay, so now that I've hopefully piqued your interest, here's a little bit more detail about each of those items. In November of 2021, I was walking across the street at a crosswalk and was hit by a minivan. The driver wasn't going very fast, but it was enough to break three bones (including my tailbone) and put me on crutches for a while and I needed special orthopedic pillows for my butt for about 18 months. I'm mostly back to normal now, but it was a long road.

The next big thing was that I went back to grad school in an online program. I've been a student for about a year now, and I'm about halfway through the program. Whatever intermittent dreams I would have and wanted to write about have been shoved aside to make time for the seemingly endless papers of graduate work. It's stressful, but I'm glad to be back in school.

Part of the reason for going back to school is because I got a minor promotion at work. Predictably, it came with more responsibilities, but it also came with a little bit more money. I'm going back to school to learn more about things that are related to my job, but also to leverage it into another potential pay raise.

Now we get to the personal creative pursuits of the recent past. I wrote a novel called Power Frank about a superhero whose only power is that he can open any jar. And he has to leverage that power to both overcome family dysfunction and save his desert hometown from being destroyed by malevolent hogs. I'm starting the querying process for agents and hope to have it published eventually!

I also finished up my multi-year Dungeons and Dragons campaign, Shits and Giggles that ran from level 1 to level 20. Several smaller (much smaller) campaigns happened after that. Then Wizards of the Coast did some stupid stuff with their Open Gaming License, and now I've redirected the bulk of my gaming money to provide support for smaller independent creators and lesser known systems. I've really gotten into several OSR systems like Shadowdark, Basic Fantasy, and (if you count these as OSR) Cairn and Knave. Other non-fantasy systems that I'm currently really digging into are Orbital Blues and Mothership. Granted, I don't currently run those games for people yet, but I do like reading the books and seeing different approaches to solving certain mechanical problems. I've also been creating a bunch of random tables for things.

The last important creative pursuit is that of Tuvan throat singing. Tuva is a region in the geographic center of Asia that is known for a style of singing that allows the singer to produce multiple notes simultaneously. I've been fascinated by it for decades and tried off and on to learn it, but this summer I finally made progress and am finally learning how to do it. It takes a lot of practice and making weird sounds, much to the chagrin of my (very patient and supportive) wife.

The Present and Future: Lumped Together For Expediency

I want to write a dream journal and that's what this blog was primarily conceived for. Unfortunately, my dream output has been incredibly fickle and the other demands on my time (professional and academic) make it difficult to report or even remember dreams. Does that mean I'm closing up this blog? Nope! I'm still on tumblr almost every day. But if I'm not able to reliably post dreams on here, what should happen to this blog?

That's the question I've been wrestling with for the past few months. What should I do? Since fishdavidson is my primary blog and I can't easily swap over to a new primary blog to archive my content, I've decided to pivot a little bit. Even outside of tumblr, I use Fish Davidson as my basically my brand (obligatory shoutout to the 1-800 contacts commercial).

So it makes sense to keep using Fish Davidson for personal promotion and creative pursuits. I'm not going to be deleting or moving any of my old posts, but new posts will be relatively rare and limited to mostly things that I create.

Update: 9/25/2023. Minor rules update! Mostly some rewording to shorten things down or clarify things! Along with that, I've finally gotten around to rewriting Coyote's physical description since I thought it was kinda lackluster overall. Of course the Carrd has been updated to reflect these changes.

This was a change I made last week but Coyote's picture in the sidebar of the blog bio's been updated to something I liked more. These changes are listed in detail below the cut.

Rules Update

Physical Appearance Update

Standing at 5'10", Coyote is tall, willowy, and thin. Their torso is somewhat of an inverted triangle with wider shoulders, a narrower waist, and hardly noticeable breasts. They have just the slightest bump of hips with long, slender legs. Their skin is a warm-toned medium tan which appears healthy so long as they're well-fed. Otherwise, they may look ashen and sickly. They're mostly unblemished besides long scars that are dashed across their knuckles on both hands. Across their chest is a large tattoo of a moth and on the nape of their neck, they have a flaming eye. They also have both full sleeves and the rest of their chest and belly tattooed. Currently, I have no specific references for these.

Their facial structure is diamond-shaped; with defined cheekbones, a narrow but sharp jaw, a square chin, and a slightly sloped nose. Coyote's eyes are very distinct. Large, downturned, and a very striking amber. You could almost call them "puppy dog" eyes, framed by long downward lashes and slightly arched brows. A pair of full and inviting lips conceal sharp white fangs, upper canines being longer than their bottoms. The promise of blood will cause their fangs to extend further to the point of sitting uncomfortably in their mouth.

Straight jet-black hair frames the upper half of their torso, stopping at their waist. It's typically worn swept back to the right, worn down in a mid-part, or slicked back into a tight braid.

Many would describe Coyote as beautiful and androgynous, alternating between masculine and feminine clothing and makeup. Typically their clothing looks tired as most of what they own was thrifted, gifted, or shoplifted. What they wear to a hardcore show may not be what they'd wear to a fight or formal meeting. Hi to everyone who newly followed and to everyone who was here since the beginning 🤍 Want to tell a few changes I'm making to this blog as of now!

Okay, so actually there's just one main thing – I won't be posting every single update related to Jehoon anymore. At least not as promptly and not in the capacity I've been doing.

I don't have the means to be on my toes all the time and keep track of upcoming schedules or minor events like some fashion brand pop-up store openings. I initially wanted this blog to be an "update and translation" blog and my interest always leaned more into the "translation" part yet I feel like it became 80% updates and only 20% translations. Moreover, with time I became sure I want this blog to focus more on cherishing Jehoon as an actor along with the works he starred in, however giving my energy to posting majorly updates isn't really it...

Basically, will be trying to do the quality over quantity type of thing. Which means I'll still probably post photos from the "random store pop-up events" but with more care to pick out the best photos out there instead of posting every single picture I come across; as a result there will be less posts overall but I'll try making every single one of them count even more. If that makes sense... 🙄

Although it's a bit stupid to make a differentiation like that, the vision for this blog essentially is: actor Jehoon > person Jehoon.

Structuring the base of the blog around Jehoon's movies & dramas. For example, during the drought season that we're in right now, I'll be also taking it slower, but as soon as some of his projects see the light of day – I'll be there to report everything.

Updates centered more around movie, drama & other project releases. Not personal brand deals. I also frankly don't care about private things like Jehoon's relationship status, or how much his office building costs.

Other type of posts not mentioned above will stay the same more or less.

Currently I'm thinking of adding something like "Upcoming releases" to my navigation pinned; I feel like this would help with the third point I want to focus on. I've also been drafting a "Jehoon filmography list" for quite some time now and it's almost finished. I really hope I can finally post it soon!

I apologize that this has taken so long and is unfinished. I feel guilty for sitting on this for 4 months without any clear updates on when it would be finished. I hope you enjoy what is here so far.

"Kihyun...?" Silence... you'd been here for an hour already as Kihyun sat listening to dozens, or at least it seemed like dozens, of songs for his next cover. You'd brought over some food for the two in hopes of discussing where the two of stood in your friendship but after inviting you in and setting out the food, which sat half eaten on the coffee table around him, when he suddenly began to ignore you. Annoyingly so.

"Damn it Kihyun, why am I even here!?" Standing, you head for the kitchen to put away the uneaten portion of your meal to take home.

"Because you invited yourself over..." spoken from his place on the couch.

"You could have told me you'd be busy, I would have suggested coming over to talk another day."

"Okay" you watch has he scrolls again through his playlist and give a loud, annoyed sigh. "What?"

"Why are you ignoring me?"

"Because I'm working...?" Another stint of awkward silence...

This time he sighs, "Look y/n I have a deadline to select a song for this cover and I like sharing meals with people, what more do you want?"

You stood there staring at the back of his head, he had continued to look at his laptop and not at you, as every single scenario of confessing to him ran through your mind, but all of them ending badly given his current mood, rejection and ruining a damn good friendship was not on your list of things to achieve today.

"nothing..." heading for the door with leftovers in hand, "...see you later Kihyun..."

"Wait... you're leaving!?"

Now you had his attention, looking back you see him on his feet and facing you. "Yeah."

"Wh-why?" You'd be lying to yourself if you didn't admit that you found his confused expression slightly cute. Sighing again you take your hand off the doorknob to face him directly.

"Because you have work, remember? Also... it's not the right time for this talk apparently."

"Look I know I've been busy with everything but our friendship is important to me y/n... we don't have to plan talks to know I haven't been investing in us..."

"Kihyun.. thats not the only reason," you pause to search his face to see that he is worried, he hates when you or any of your friends leave after a tense argument, "...I like you Kihyun."

"I like you too y/n" you cut him off.

"No.. you don't see it.... I like you. Didn't you even notice that I got both our favorite foods from the nice restaurant across town? Did you notice how I tired to make the coffee table look a little more fancy and that we ate off real plates and not out of the delivery boxes?"

You watch as he slowly starts to piece it together, why you picked today to talk to him when you knew the other two members he shared the dorm with were out on late schedules. "I-.... I didn't think..."

On the topic of flirting, I am okay with SOME romantic things. Romantic and sexual are completely different things, after all, and my expertise in romance is probably my only defining quality haha! Q.《Why did you start this blog?》

A. As mentioned above, I really enjoy writing fanfictions. They are one of my escapes from the real world, as is the Dream SMP! I started reading some fics, headcannons, and imagines here and really enjoyed it! I thought, "Why not do the same? Share your stories with like-minded people," so I did!

One of my biggest inspirations for starting this blog was the fact that there was so little fanfics for the DSMP, at least in the friendship department. I aim to write stories that center around the characters of the SMP, their friendships and hardships, and to put the story in words that the members otherwise cannot express.

Q.《What will your stories be about?》

A. The Dream SMP, and all characters included! Most, if not all of the stories I write will be 'Reader Insert's, or 'x Reader's. This totally does not stem from my desire to be friends with everyone aha nope haha definitely not-

All stories will be about the characters that the streamers portray, NOT the content creators themselves. I personally feel a bit awkward writing for real people. I may try and change things up one day, but today is not that day!

Q.《How did you get into the Dream SMP?》

A. I got into the Dream SMP a few months ago after coming across many videos and posts talking about it, and began my journey by watching Wilbur Soot's videos and the story of the rise and fall of L'manburg. Ever since, I've been hooked, and I've come to really enjoy and look forward to new streams and videos!

Q.《Will your stories be inclusive? (Gender Identity, Sexuality, Race, etc.)》

A. Absolutely! None of my stories will leave anyone out, and I will strive to accurately portray anything and everything! The Reader in my stories will never have their gender, sexuality, or appearance explicitly stated, either in walls of text or in dialogue. To make everything the most inclusive, I will be using they/them pronouns when characters refer to the Reader. I tend to avoid the use of 'insert points', as I will call them, or things like 'Y/n', 'e/c', or 'h/c' to name a few. If necessary, I will use '(Name)' for the Reader, but otherwise dodge the use of other insert points unless it is useful to the story or needs to be explicitly mentioned.

Q.《Will you write for certain things if asked?》

A. Yes, I will, as long as none of it goes out of my boundaries!

Q.《How much knowledge of Dream SMP Lore do you have?》

A. Honestly, not much. I have gotten as far as Doomsday and Dream's imprisonment, but that is about it! Not to mention, all of my knowledge comes purely from Tubbo, Ranboo, Wilbur and Tommy's streams. I don't know much about Technoblade or Philza's lore as of this moment, or any one else's, but I plan to learn! Any requests that deal with these characters lore, I will do my best. Please don't be afraid to let me know if I mess something up! Help is always welcome.

Okay so because of the word limit and weird way the comments on posts are made, I've going to say this in full here:

You know how people try to act like they know what they are talking about when presenting their argument, but you know they either never looked into said subject or are intentionally playing stupid to only present the details that support their argument?

Yeah, that's what's going on when I see people complaining about 40k being introduced into a totally non-canon side product in Magic.

If you know anything more than absolutely basic surface-level information of the Space Marines - literally ANYTHING else at all - you'll know that it has a ton of magic. I cannot stress the word "literally" enough when I say that literally every other faction that is not the Space Marines uses magic in one way or the other. Even some Space Marines do. So to even claim the entire setting has no magic at all, you have to even completely ignore a sizable chunk of (and almost all the history of) the Space Marines!

But this is something I keep seeing in general about all games - whether video, board, card, or whatever else - people actually enjoy: there is always this very vocal minority who make a point of making an intense fuss about everything to make it sound like everyone hates whatever it is about when the vast majority of everyone is actually enjoying it.

Look at Neon Dynasty: it had the same exact things as Kaladesh did, but for some reason as soon as you use a neon aesthetic it becomes "all technology and has no place in Magic" despite the fact that we have two planes entirely devoted to machines, as well as one that is all about living machines that are modified and experimented on without magic being involved and spreads like a toxin. The main antagonist has a technological portal in his body that transports beings as if they were planeswalkers!

I hate to reduce it to such, but it sounds an awful lot like they are whining just for the sake of whining in the hopes they can cause something to happen. As if just enough of them write to his blog, Mark Rosewater will suddenly be like "Well, this extremely vocal 0.02% of the community really dislikes this, so we better just scratch it and move to the next set already".

But as much as I hate to say it, this kind of behavior is one I see for e v e r y t h i n g nowadays. Any game that gets updates, you always have some sort of concentrated effort to whine about everything they can find. Warframe is a big one in this. It's gotten so bad I don't even bother with the forums or reddit because everything is just people whining about everything they can think of. People like this ruined Destiny because every time some weapon that they didn't use was any good, the pages were filled with "I was killed by X, nerf it". If you follow any game that reworks any class of items, it's always followed with all kinds of "well, the entire game is absolutely ruined, they never should have changed it".

It's honestly really annoying and I have practically written entire essays about this over the past decade and how it was bred by all these "hold hands and love each other" policies on forums where everyone who was obviously trying to cause issues weren't allowed to be pushed out. They had to be treated as if everything they were saying was legitimate and anyone who said anything even slightly negative was getting a ban. And now we are at this point where all these people who clearly only stuck around to flame everyone were given a platform to speak and feel empowered to throw what little weight around that they have and that's why we now have these entire groups across everything who do just this.

Vher98 Update 5

I know it's only been a couple of weeks since the last blog post about my recent updates towards developing Vher98, but trust me it's for a good reason, I'll split it up into chapters to sorta give a bit more of an explination towards developments and get a bit more in depth about it for once.

Display properties.

This has been delayed for SO long, and finally I've gotten around to doing it. Finishing the display properties menu. The display properties has been the bane of my existance about this website but yet my best feature, just from the schemes feature alone. But this week I have a new addition, and that is to say I now have desktop icon schemes! Inwhich, allows you to change the desktop icons based on preselected spritesheets (Which you can also change by the command prompt!).

At the moment there are 6 presetswhich you can select, I recently did a massive sprite redesign for desktop icons based on my new character, Petra! But that's for a future update, for now I've set the default spritesheet and included all of the old ones, which you can select from, alongside being able preview them at a smaller resolution to be compatiable with the display properties window.

I've also added a few other settings which you can see previews of, not all of which are programmed yet, so at a future date I'll either change them around or program them. But for now, I've added the ability to change desktop icon sizes to a more native modern scale, but leaving the default setting as the classic windows 98 recreation.

I've also added additional wallpapers, only accessable through the effects tab and "CSGO MODE" which was featured in the background of the preview blog post, which recreates the settings for my counterstrike mainmenu, along with adjusting the desktop icons and wallpaper to fit.

As previewed above, designed to be a slight nod to my recent "Neon Genesis Evanjollion" video, featured on my youtube channel. I've recorded and animated my counterstrike character with loopable animations which play continuously in the background.

Now, I know this is a lot of text for what seemingly is a minor update, but the main reason I was able to design the latest additions to the effects tab was because of the recent massive rewrite I've had to do in order to fix a bunch of problems I was coming across, one of which being how unoptimised themes were reletively.

This entire re-write revolves around basically storing arrays of data rather than manually switching values of variables, along with tons of adjustments to unneeded variables and how theme data is required to be stored, as CSMODE needs to store the theme data to be able to toggle from the data needed to switch from the current scheme to CSGO mode.

I cannot understate howmuch of a rewrite this is, and as much as I would like to say "I really don't get why I ever did it otherwise", I would be lying. But this is a super incredable optimisation and looking at this comparritively makes me super pleased with how far i've come from knowing nothing about HTML/JS to this. Jquery is a godsend.

Start Menu

On my newly found optimisation craze, I've also done tons of rewriting to the startmenu, another long overdue reform. Even though I've recently done a rewrite on this thing, I knew there was still tons of improvements with my new knowledge of jquery.

I've also put aside a few hours of time to dedicate creating new assets for the start menu. It became REALLY hard to find a nice and consistant style which windows 98 used, but it was really hard to find sources of any of the original assets but also have the levels of details I knew windows 98 for, especially when tons of the assets from windows 98 came from windows 95, which still relied on 8 bit colour in some instances.

So I did a bunch of digging and found the assets Windows 98 used at the end of it's lifespan and modified them a bunch to put into Vher98, giving my own personal touch and hopefully to keep the art direction of icons a bit more consistant and unique to look at and use.

Task management

Alright, last big one. Task management. Another long overdue reform was needed for this thing. Prior to this month, tasks relied on whatever manual order I decide to create the task and assign a number to, the number will dedicate placement on the taskbar depending on which value was the highest.

So for example, the Display Properties will ALWAYS be the third task on the taskbar if you was to open everything up, simply because I didn't know how to calculate the placement prior to designing tons of assets. Especially when the original conception of the site RELIED on myself manually creating the visual look of the taskbar as the entire site was designed based on images. From windows, taskbar to the starrtmenu. It was awfully inefficent.

Anyway, that being said I now have automated calculation for taskbar task placement. If you open a task, it will open and remain in the order of the task being ordered. Writing this makes me have a smug little grin on my face just from how happy I am I was even able to get this to work properly, and it's only a few lines of math to even get the result I have.

Conclusion

There's tons of other stuff I wish to go on about, but that's why I have patchnotes. if you wish to read them, you can check them out on my github, or in the Startmenu of Vher98.

There's a few bugs I need to get around to fixing, but I've invested a few hundred hours into this thing over the past month alone and I really should take a break to get onto other projects I wish to get around to completing.

I recently started developing a mod for Terraria and some drawings I want to get around to finishing sooner or later. But, the most important thing I REALLY need to get around to is branding. Over the past month or two I've been growing more and more displeased with how I present myself and the fact I have stagnated a bit within the realms of my carear and I need to get around to sorting these personal matters sooner rather than later.

I'll be back with a couple of projects. It might take a while but I promise it's for a good cause.
