From • @factoryrecordsfans The first use of the image on the cover art for "Unknown Pleasures" originally published by Harold Craft in his 1970 PhD thesis "Radio observations of the pulse profiles and dispersion measures of twelve pulsars". Page 215 shows 80 successive pulses of the first pulsar observed, CP1919, tastefully stacked on top of one another. The plot was subsequently reproduced as a white-on-red image for the cover art of the 1970 International Astronomy Union General Assembly "Highlights of Astronomy" edited by Cornelis De Jager, as a white-on-black image in Walter Herdeg's 1974 "Graphis Diagrams: The Graphic Visualization of Abstract Data", and then in the black-on-white style in Simon Mitton's editing of the 1977 edition of "The Cambridge Encyclopaedia of Astronomy. #factoryrecords #factoryrecordsfans #Russellclub #hulme #manchester #manchestermusic #punk #postpunk #postpunkmusic #darkwave #newwave #joydivision #joydivisionforever #shoehaze #goth #joydivisionfans #iancurtis #thehacienda #fac51 #tonywilson #peterhook #stephenmorris #bernardsumner #petersaville #unknownpleasures #martinhannett https://www.instagram.com/p/CetU8AhjImC7VA2BG5JgSijFWHQkdHQ8cy8kX00/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"Ceremony" is a song written by Joy Division, and first released as New Order's debut single in 1981. The song and its B-side, "In a Lonely Place", were written and recorded as Joy Division prior to the death of Ian Curtis. Both were re-recorded and carried over to Joy Division's re-formation under the name New Order. I had a car crash accident while listening to this song, didn’t listen to it during years #joydivision #neworder #iancurtis https://www.instagram.com/p/CpcHokRoWL7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
One of my favourite AR/AI Architects to follow on Twitter is Ian Curtis. Ian is doing some incredible work with location-based augmented reality. This tech allows you to anchor web-based AR experiences to real-world locations. In this video he's pre-scanned the wayspot and location to be able position and mask the openings correctly on the walls. Ian has built this using 8th Wall's Lightship VPS.
Now everyday buildings can become rich canvasses for AR experiences and storytelling. Endless possibilities!

The album was recorded and mixed over three successive weekends at Stockport's Strawberry Studios in April 1979, with producer Martin Hannett contributing a number of unconventional recording techniques to the group's sound. The cover artwork was designed by artist Peter Saville, using a data plot of signals from a radio pulsar. It is the only Joy Division album released during lead singer Ian Curtis's lifetime. It has since received sustained critical acclaim as an influential post-punk album, and has been named as one of the best albums of all time by publications such as NME, AllMusic, Select, Rolling Stone, and Spin. Unknown Pleasures failed to chart on the UK Albums Chart. However, following Curtis's suicide in May 1980 and the release of their second album, Closer, in July, it was reissued and reached No. 71 at the end of that August. It fared better on the UK Indie Chart, placing at No. 2 on the first chart to be published in January 1980 and going on to top the chart following its reissue, spending 136 weeks on the chart in total. The 40th-anniversary reissue of the album charted at number 5 in the UK Albums Chart when it was released in 2019, making Unknown Pleasures Joy Division's highest-charting album. https://www.instagram.com/p/Coz_HmfMKCr9CMsszHq6a7dS9pd9nd7Gnoi_Ks0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
