Tamayomi 球詠
Plot: Yomi Takeda and Tamaki Yamazaki have loved baseball since they were kids. They used to play catch together whenever possible, and in doing so, Yomi discovered her talent for throwing the ball in a way that seemed like magic. The girls promised to keep playing baseball even when they are older and were separated soon after. In the years that followed, Tamaki went on to become a skilled catcher, but Yomi did not get very far despite her throwing prowess. Deciding to quit her passion, Yomi starts her first year at Shin Koshigaya High School. Try as she might to avoid anything related to baseball, she meets the twins Yoshino and Ibuki Kawaguchi, both of whom are enthusiasts of the sport. Moreover, she stumbles upon Tamaki, and just like old times, they decide to play catch—reigniting Yomi’s desire to pitch. Reunited, Yomi and Tamaki set out to fulfill their childhood promise. Alongside Yoshino and Ibuki, they strive to revive their school’s baseball team which has been on hiatus. More members join until their group is complete, and now the new goal of Shin Koshigaya's girls' baseball team is nothing less than winning the national championships. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Episodes: 12
Main Characters:
Takeda Yomi
Yamazaki Tamaki
Points: 5.75/10
This review will be pretty short, since I don't have much to say as in... it did indeed bore me quite a bit. I am a big fan of Diamond no Ace and sports animes in general, but Tamayomi absolutely didn't captivate me. I only became interested in baseball, because of DNA and since Eijun and his team had me cry and laugh throughout the seasons, I thought I should give this anime a try as well. I am certainly not against a loaded female cast, but it simply cannot compare. Neither the animations (or shall we say robotic 3d movements?) nor the music or the plot could halfway entertain me as much as DNA did.
Tumblr media
Tamayomi consists of a small plot which develops rather slowly. Barely anything happened this season besides a bit of team building, coming together hand having 2-3 matches which weren't at all worth remembering? It reminded me more of a slice-of-life anime where you watch the team grow closer bit by bit, which Tamayomi doesn't do that badly. It might be one of the positive points worth mentioning. Overall however Tamayomi is bland, too simple, not at all exciting (not even any kind of twist, no exciting game which makes your blood boil and cheer for your favourites) and the characters barely receive any sort of backstory or development, neither as a character nor the sport skills.
Tamayomi is perhaps one of the ugliest animated animes, relying way too much on robotic 3d movements which indeed might be better than most of the slideshow animes (Ahiru no Sora I am looking at you) or you simply hate it, too.
Tumblr media
Looking back on the time I spend with this anime, I can't even tell you anything that happened. It's like you never watched it, although you did. It just doesn't get stuck in your head. The studio isn't widely known and it might have been low budget, but it's simply said to say this about an anime where people put their effort in to create. If you have absolutely no expectations for a sports anime or aren't too iffy about the CGDCT genre, then do have a look.
