Almost forgot that Catrine got an update to her look!

I could not get over the smoke and busyness of the ice reaver stuff, turns out I just can’t deal with that level of flashy, so I made her a look post Jormag’s death. Seeing as the ice dragon alone just wasn't strong enough, she’s started to add a bit of Zhaitan inspired influence to her mindset. Apparently the answer to how do you get colder than cold is to just add death.

This also marks the first time I’ve used and been happy with any female Norn tattoos so there is that.

GW2 Creator Week [day 1, dragon]

I originally wanted to write up a short little scene that happened between Bertie and Jormag during Icebrood Saga. It would have been the only actual conversation my main Commander ever had with any of the (original) Elder Dragons and I think it would have showed a lot about Bertie’s character. But then work was absolutely crazy the past few days and I didn’t get the chance. So instead I offer one of my favorite screenshots of Bertie and the newest Elder Dragon and his adopted progeny, Aurene and a few lines from the rough draft of the story.

“One question. Answer me one question completely honestly. No lies, no manipulation. In return, I will consider allying with you.” Bertie stood arms crossed, green eyes narrowed behind his glasses as he stared down the Voice of Jormag.

Bangar’s head contorted sharply to one side as Jormag considered for a moment. The silence hung in the air like the clouded breath of a creature freezing to death. “I find it hard to believe you would offer me such a agreement unless you were certain you could win. But you’ve piqued my interest, Bertram. We have an accord. Ask your question.”

“Falooaloo.” He almost spat the word out, feeling almost a decade of anger burn against the inside of skin. It felt strong enough to melt every shard of ice in Bjora Marches.

The ice rimmed charr stared down at the asura before the slack jaw spoke. “That…is not a question.”

“And that was not an answer.”

Hey correct me if I'm wrong but the theme of "rest", "stay here", and ignoring the cold are all symptoms of hypothermia right? Cause I'm getting massive vibes about that with the new story update.

So when Icebrood Saga started I wanted to write along with a few of my characters. It never really worked out, mostly because I chose a norn group and then IBS was less norn centered than it initially seemed. I have WIPs for the first three episodes + prolog, one of which I might actually post still. Anyways I have a lot of stored up thoughts that still want out so here is an incredibly random list of how my characters brood the ice.

Spoilers from here on obviously

The Adventuring Group (Aki, Aki, Era, Cap and guest adventurer Lorna) visit the legion rally at the blood citadel for a variety of reasons. (Party, expecting to meet Faladlain there, party, acquiring exclusive metal legion merch and also their uncle offered to take them there it's on his way)

Other Aki plans to get blackout drunk with his crush Braham, proceeds to get outperformed by Ryland. Next day learns of Brahams stolen bow and comes up with a new plan: Impress Braham by returning the bow!

They follow the trails of Bangar and Ryland into the mountains where a horrible blizzard prevents the group from trekking on. (except Other Aki who is angrily radiating heat, but he isn't angry enough to leave his friends behind)

Meanwhile mother of "a dragon that turned out quite well" Valoop is alternating between cursing Rytlock and Crecia until a strange message makes her take a chopper to bjora march

due to lacking a chopper, our adventurer have to find another way across the mountains. Thankfully there are quite a lot of caves and they find the way easily, though no one knows exactly how they knew where to look. It's almost as if someone whispered them the directions.

Valoop, while surveying the carnage at Jora's Keep, hears the first whispers of Jormag. She wishes she could bite thoughts. She whishes they would at least flat out lie. Valoop knows she and the others need rest, but she doesn't want to agree with Jormag.

the adventurers arrive in bjora march completely unaware of the vigil presence. Lorna spots svarnir and becomes angry. Other Aki thinks that Ryland wants to steal Brahams prophesied triumph over Jormag for the charr and gets even angrier, conveniently guarding the others against the regularly occuring snow storms. Regular Aki spots a raven shrine and is intrigued.

Reevus gets ordered back to the Ash Citadel and realises for the first time that, actually, he quite likes Divininity's Reach. He will spend the coming months mesmering his way through the ash legion barracks to find out possible spies. He absolutely hates the task, but appreciates the challenge.

Valoop finds Almorra. The fire in her eyes scares everyone in Jora's keep shitless for a few days. She enters the Raven Sanctum, recieves the Blessing of Daybreak and slays the Fraenir.

The adventurers visit the now Fraenir free Raven Sanctum, get separated for some one on one spirit guidance. Lorna learns how to accept help. Era learns about parenting. Other Aki learns that impressing your crush isn't the best motivation for and epic quest and changes from "Fuck that guy" (horny, Braham) to "Fuck that guy" (derogatory, Ryland). Cap learns nothing, he knows already possesses all knowledge necessary for heroism. Regular Aki gets the fast pass past the pitch black murder maze by being an almost Raven Shaman.

With hightened spirits and new knowledge they press onwards. They find still water speaking, and from there venture on to hunt the drakkar. Some of their ancestors knew Jora and Svarnir personally. It feels like avenging family. The Drakkar WIP I might actually finish and post so no detail here :P

Valoop and Braham cleanse the shrines, then arrive at the Drakkars lair to find the beast slain already. The whisper of Jormag reveals itself instead. Not posessing any kneecaps Valoop instead obliterates it with her spear. Skewered on her spear she contemplates how it might taste roasted over a fire. It would probably just melt she decides and gets rudely interrupted by and arrow in her side.

That's how far I've gotten so until I decide otherwise Valoops story progresses like in the game, with slightly more punching imperators and that she doesn't take Rytlock with her anywhere. She is thorouggly done with him. The world has progressed beyond the need of Rytlock.

5/ Their most favorite map/place in general?

Amnoon is his home, the city he’s sworn to defend, the last refuge of freedom on Elona. He enjoys the soft sound of the waves crashing on the beach and the constant chatter coming from the harbour, the scent of spices and sweets and freshly ground coffee emanating from the market, the clear openness of the skies above the pyramids and the warmth of his mother’s tea when the cold of the desert falls and would deter even the bravest from stellar observation.

Wherever life leads him, Amnoon will always hold a special place in his heart.

On a whole over level, he particularly appreciated Drizzlewood Coast! High cliffs, dark recess to hide and observe the enemy from above, clear lines of sight on all approaches. The environment suited his combat style and his keen eye for ambushes was most useful to secure the Legions’ encampments and fortune headquarters... A shame for Smodur, really, that no one - not even Lucius - noticed that small cave entrance, above their hidden headquarters...

17/ People with Commander ocs, is there any part of the main story where your oc's story diverges? Everyone else, is there a part of your oc's story that follows the canon one?

Lucius serves as one of the Pact's first contact in Amnoon, even before Rorschach Grimlaugh, Galaëd or even Balthazar set foot on Elonian shores. He was contacted — found, really! — by an envoy of the Order of Whispers, Elianora, when the Pact's attention returned to Kralkarotic (after Mordremoth's death and their Marshal's passing).

He and Elianora will work closely, and report the news of the God of War's arrival to their respective orders, allowing them to prepare for the incoming storm. When the Commander arrives in Amnoon, Lucius stands in retreat, electing to leave mundane politics to better suited agents, but remains close by, to see if this Pact and this newly formed guild, Dragon's Watch, are really up to the challenge the Elder Dragon will pose.

He joins the operations in Kourna as an envoy of the Order of Shadows and earns the Commander's eye during the assault on Joko's fortress.

After the Awakened are freed from the Lich's rule and peace negotiations are well underway, but tragically interrupted by the Crystal Dragon's Champion, he becomes an official and permanent member of Dragon's Watch.

24/Which canon character do/would they get along with the best?

Ironically, he loves Faren! They couldn't be any more different, but the young lord has a heart of gold and courage unsuspected even by him. Lucius and him spend a lot of late evenings talking, discussing politics or poetry, women and war tactics, inconsequential nothings and the fate of the world, during his stay in Amnoon.

If not for his profound aversion of necromancy, he'd get along quite well with Marjory, but they rarely interact due to him being very ill at ease and having trouble overcoming his prejudice.

As for working on the field, he works quite well with Canach. The sylvari sets traps and Lucius shoots. It's quite perfect actually.

28/What is their character arc, if they have one.

Learning to become his own person, freed from the chains of his family’s crusade, and finding his own purpose in life.

Hello! Thanks for the ask earlier, now it’s your turn. Could I request the notebook ask for Eira talking About Smodur the Unflinching? It’s really cool to see another sylvari that’s a member of a charr warband.

Oh, sure thing! Haven't gotten the chance to write about her in a while , this will be fun ^_^

I got a letter from Varia today! I was so happy to hear that she’s doing well and we’ll be able to join her on the front line sooner than expected!

It was not all good news though I’m afraid. She did mention that Smodur had been killed during some sort of meeting. I was honestly surprised to hear the news! Not so much that he had died mind you, but that he had managed to do so outside of combat. I’d only met the man in person on one occasion, but I had always thought that he was the type to die face to face with his foe. A foe he had no doubt underestimated given the size of his ego, but face to face nonetheless.

I’m not one to speak ill of the dead, and he had done a great many things that are to be praised, but the Smodur that I’d met had been far from what I’d expected from someone who’d been hailed as the visionary that brokered peace between the humans and charr. Well, nevermind it, it is my journal after all and I can write what I wish. The Smodur that I’d met was nothing more than a self centered and power hungry man, and it’s not as though he even tried to hide that fact, so much as most were simply good enough to overlook it. I feel as though I am a good judge of character, at least now, and Smodur surely would have burned his own treaty with the humans to the ground if he thought it would get him closer to being the new Khan-Ur, I’m sure of it.

Still, whatever his true motivations I’m fully aware that Smodur the Unflinching will be remembered fondly by most everyone, charr and human especially. He did do some good in this world after all, even if his intentions were not always the most pure. I’ll kneel at the stature they no doubt make of him in the Black Citadel, paying my respects to the legacy of his accomplishments, if not the man I remember.

Some Lucius facts and bonus rounds for whoever! Noice! 😄

🖊️- I once said Lucius is German shepherd shaped, as in, he’s very protective of the people who manage to get close to him. From the moment he joins Dragon’s Watch, that protectiveness extends to each and everyone of the guild members.

Another thing that he is, is very aware of the impact trauma can have on a person, or a group, how it can fester, how it can heal in appearance and surge again years later due to a trigger event, how it can become alike an old scar, there, but barely noticeable, or remain as a gaping wound and cripple one for the rest of their life. As such, he will consider that pushing at someone’s limit, purposely using or abusing their frailties and causing more harm to their mental health as grave an assault as if they’d attacked them physically.

A third thing he is, is an assassin. And, he will not hesitate to pull the trigger on anyone who threatens his close circle.

So, when Smodur makes Rorschach his unwilling accomplice in the massacre of the charr in the bunker, he signs his own death warrant.

Ryland is there, when Smodur dies. But he never gets the chance to fire his rifle.

There’s a suspended moment, one look exchanged as the two snipers assert each other, high above the panic Smodur’s lifeblood splattered across the table has caused... Ryland steps into the light, as the slayer of the Imperator, and Lucius remains amongst the shadows.

🖊️ - As an Elementalist, Anwen Swynwr relies much more heavily on Meryw's protection. So, when it came to launching the final assault on Mordremoth, Meryw did not take the lead of the forces of the Pact against the Mouth.

Laranthir and Dairban managed to muster a team of volunteers, a few very brave souls well decided to distract the Dragon or die trying.

And Meryw accompanied Anwen into the lair of the beast to save their friends.

She witnessed Trahearne's last request, and, if Anwen demanded a moment with him and neither of them saw Mordremoth taking over, she knows what it cost Anwen to fulfill the Firstborn's last will.

Mordremoth was struck down before its final Call could reach the sylvari celebrating their victory over the Mouth, just outside the Heart.

And Canach found Anwen in the clearing, devastated and mourning, and immediately called on Meryw to heal her before she too faded.

🖊️ - Galaëd got very close to being demoted and tried for insult and injury to a superior officer... And if not for Rorschach's insistence that he no longer answered to the Vigil's hierarchy, but that of the Pact — thus making him no longer Almorra's subordinate, absolving him of the accusations of insubordination — he'd have been in huge trouble...

"With all due respect*, General, spreading slander against one's late superior is borderline insubordination too... and insulting the memory of said superior in front of their brother is without a doubt a greater injury."

(*Dragon's Watch favoured diplomatic expression as it specifies nothing about the amount of respect due... could be none.)

🖊️ - That became needlessly angsty, we need a soft headcanon to wrap it! And since we're close to Wintersday...🎄✨

Galaëd will gladly decorate his antlers with tinsel and evergreen garlands during the holiday. Twas Rorschach who gave him the idea when he jokingly placed some light decoration on his head, their first Wintersday after his antlers grew and it became a huge part of their holiday cheer to find light but pretty items to place on the mesmer's branches.

They both agreed to never attempt such a prank with Dairban, though! (however tempting that might be)
