By the time yb finishes talking to ryou and gets the nerves to kiss him malik has been done talking and huffly asks if yb heard anything he said. Now yb is sheepish and wants to strangle ryou. Ryou tells him there's always next time.

YEEEAAAHHH!! this ask has been in my inbox for months i’m so sorry LOL. i’ve been revisiting them lately, they’re a lot of fun! did these doodles last night (until i realized i’ve forgotten how to draw traditionally and how to draw someone other than the pig and duck), my favorite porky cartoon IS a porky and sylvester short—albeit with both sides talking—so i certainly enjoy them! and i don’t talk about it often but sylvester’s my favorite after daffy and porky so i’m always happy to see him involved

I, personally, loved it. I cried.

I don't know what someone who hasn't been in love with Sailor Moon for over two decades would get out of it. Maybe very little? It goes very quickly through the story and there's not a lot of time to take things in before we're hopping right along.

There are certain subplots (The Amazon Trio, Minako's inability to transform) that I feel like really would've benefited from being padded out and explored in a serialized story. Like, if we introduced Minako being unable to transform earlier, and then brought it back later? Would've been good. As I think I saw someone else point out, the only member of the Amazones Quartet whose name we even hear is PallaPalla. There's a lot of stuff like that, where I just go "god, I wish there was more time."

Like, if you hadn't been analyzing Sailor Moon and all its incarnations for years, you wouldn't even be able to learn the names of VesVes, JunJun, and CereCere from this. And that's not great. If you KNOW who they are, though, they did a good job. If you're already invested in this story, this is an incredibly beautifully animated and scored translation of some long-awaited manga scenes and it's so lovely to finally get to see it.

But without knowing this story beforehand?? Or at least the characters from other incarnations? IDK if it would be compelling or make sense.

I haven't watched the English dub yet, but I have watched the Japanese twice now and I was completely invested both times. Tears! Much crying.

I LOVE a big ending battle where a cool song plays in the background while every character takes turns shouting their powerup. I don't care if with so many characters it takes like five minutes, it was BEAUTIFUL OKAY. I LOVE THAT SHIT.

And god seeing the coronation scene makes me SO EXCITED for the wedding whenever they get around to adapting the Stars arc??? It's gonna be SO PRETTY.

I'm glad they added some embellishments to the old transformation sequences and attacks but you know what would've been even better? Storyboarding entirely new versions. That would've ruled. It feels cheap to just copy the old ones.

AND THEY HAD AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A JOINT TRANSFORMATION SEQUENCE WITH MOON AND MASK AND THEY SQUANDERED IT. WHAT A WASTE. LET THEM HAVE CHOREOGRAPHY TOGETHER YOU COWARDS.

I also feel robbed of a solo Super Chibi Moon transformation and of a group transformation for the Asteroid senshi. C'mon. That's the good shit. Give it to me.

Unrelated to the movie itself, but I'm also thinking about how every other major franchise has had a next gen reboot (Naruto, Inuyasha, etc) and how og Sailor Moon set itself up for not one, but two next gen reboots (ChibiMoon and the Asteroids in Crystal Tokyo, and Parallel Sailor Moon) and yet has taken advantage of neither and how if I hadn't lived to see it I would not believe you that everything that's set up with the 30th century is just, basically, flavor text, and is not and never was a backdoor pilot for a spinoff.

Like, c'mon. *grabby hands* gimme a spinoff.

Anyway, in conclusion, I liked it. My biggest gripe is wanting more of it.

For many reasons - the NFT debacle, the 2D VA debacle, stealing a fan recreation of their own logo (?), over-priced merch, pandering, becoming the "false iconz", for hiring Ed, for brand deals, for making Murdoc cry....the list goes on lol. The real question is: what aren't they cancelled for?

I just got done watching the episode where yami bakura duels bonez (at least i think that's his name) for the locator cards for the battle city finals and boy oh boy did i LOVE seeing him be a bastard and toying with him.

second, he's actually called "Ghost" Kotsuzuka in the sub/manga (original) and Bonz in the dub.

I am so sorry for this character, like, he is really one of those victims of Bakura’s wrath that I consider really "unnecessary" (as far as “necessary” fictional deaths can be sdfghjk). Like Pegasus? sorry but he had it coming. Shadi? That’s what she deserves. Any of the palace people? Yeah i don’t really mind. But Bonz????? poor kid what did he do to you Bakura !!!!!

BUT. GOD. I can’t lie if I say how much I enjoyed seeing more of Bakura’s homicidal side 💆💆💆 just like u said there’s like a strange feel of satisfaction in seeing Bakura being so mean and just powerful sgsjsgjs Really makes me love the whole character more. yes that’s my villain baby right there 👏👏👏👏👏👏

But - as much as Ep. 79 is the best episode in the whole mess that is the YGO anime because of Bakura-centric plot and Kagami animation (yes i recently created a whole tag for it), i love the manga version too. Even if we got little info abt the duel in there, we got enough to make up an idea in two pages alone imo:

(kukuku this is a fan translation so i’m not sure how accurate it is) bUT what I love abt the manga version is that it leaves us open to interpretation how he gathered the rest of the locator cards (since it seems like he duelled Bonz alone here and not the two other guys) and ALSO he just says “THEN DIE”, no penalty game, no nothing. Even HOW he killed Bonz can be open to interpretation, like, he could have just stabbed him post-duel since it doesn’t look like he used any magic on there.... and also.. all the other duelists he faced... i wonder if he was merciful enough to let them alive 🤔

I know this is all rather creepy and dark but Bakura is a killer, (like he says himself...)

and no matter how many people continuously try to ignore that, it’s part of why I like him as a character so much. He is a Villain after all. He is Creepy, he Kills. Even if in his motives he was essentially right, erasing his essence as a character doesn’t make sense imo and this is why zorc is bs writing too imo.

And yeah, my conclusion is that in that whole filler episode and duel against Bonz we got to see more of that side of Bakura that is rare to see in the anime (the manga og bakura i mean). And i’m just so so thankful it was animated by Kagami 🙏 Look, Konami managed to do at least one thing right at the end 👏👏👏👏

how do you find time to storyboard, make reviews, watch looney tunes AND post about them/post video clips of other cartoons?

HAHA… VERY GOOD QUESTION… to be honest i never thought of that as abnormal until now LOL. i usually like to get up early to watch some cartoons (like… i’ll get up at 6am, watch cartoons for an hour and then actually get ready for the day) and if i have time after the workday i’ll do the same thing or try to start on some reviews…

THE THING IS i’m an all or nothing person which works to my advantage and disadvantage, like if i’m drawing fully illustrated pieces i do them for days at a time and then stop for like 2 weeks straight because i burnt myself out (like now LOL) and the same with reviews.

i’d like to dedicate more time to storyboarding, i feel i don’t practice enough outside of work and am a little too hard on myself so i’m gonna try to aim and fix that! so sometimes my activity can be sporadic depending on what’s happening… today was a slower work day for me so i had more time to watch cartoons and getting up at 5 in the morning doesn’t hurt either and stuff but it always changes. i hope to dedicate more time to my craft/practice for Le Sponge and just art in general, this crew party we just had seriously reminded me how lucky i am to be where i am and i want to give everything 110%!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt like Eternal kinda did a speedrun of the plot. It all felt very rushed until they came up to the big battle. I too wish they had spent more time developing the plots.

Yeah, it’s a byproduct of the entire concept and format. It’s fun new animation for those of us already invested, but doesn’t offer a lot to hook in people who aren’t. It’s a shame.

I’d love to see an adaptation with a more consistent vision and plan from the start that had the budget and screen time to do more with the source material. But for what it is, I enjoy what we’re getting.
