Stitch Patterns 2/I've been doing things with Vertical Drop Stitch for a couple of years. I love that it is reversible, and the dropped sections show the yarn a little differently than when knitted in knit or purl. I used it in Naples, and more designs using this are coming in the Amalfi collection. Interesting Things 4 / I did not know how to take a photo until I got my first iPhone (2013-2014?). Then I took really bad photos. Mitch helped me understand how to capture what I was seeing, then Makelight gave me more specific directions for photographing.  My skills are still limited, but I enjoy the photos I take. I'm completely okay with not getting the shot I thought I did. I just won't have a recorded memory. This is at Giverny last fall. Yarn / IdentityKAL / I chose one of my favorite yarns, Civility from Elemental Affects, for Somerset Stole. I asked for a skein of Fingering in one of the new 2019 colors, but my order got lost. When it came time to get the sample knit I pulled the only skein I had off the shelf. I had a partial skein from my initial swatching too. I ended up loving the Amber, and I think it is lovely in this stole. I wanted the stole to be deeper, but even using the partial skein, there wasn't enough. ⠀ ⠀ Civility Fingering 3-ply worsted spun, 70% US Merino, 30% Mulberry Silk, 4 oz, 500 yds. I think you should use this yarn, but if you can't, the properties are important to replicate.  Merino is a smooth wool fiber with a light hand.  Mulberry Silk has sheen, and is a filament fiber, so it also smooth. Yarn Speaking 2 / Civility (seen here Shadow) is one of my favorite yarns. Merino-Silk. I really never want to knit something else when I am knitting it. I do stray, because we have to have other friends, but it is perfect for so many of my projects.  Also shown is Silk Cloud from Shibui.  I'll admit that I only do the swatch in mohair, then send it to a knitter, because I am a sloppy knitter. Behind Shibui is an assortment from Anzula: Dottie, Squishy, Ava, and Cricket. All slated for the same project. Stitch Patterns 4/I'm always taken aback when knitters don't block. Forget gauge and fit, and all that. Eventually things need to be washed and they must be so disappointed! I have a large selection of swatches, blocked and unblocked, in a variety of stitch patterns in the same yarn. I sometimes get intrigued by mosaic patterns. They create such nice graphic designs in stockinette and high contrast color.  These hats are languishing because I lost interest, but I a photo on IG reminded me of them.  Knitted in lovely Cormo fingering, they are squishy too. Stitch Patterns 1/ My favorite basic is seed stitch. If you are a thrower, you likely hate it. It has tons of texture, showcases yarn beautifully, and is flat, like garter. It tends to spread, so always block it! I lost track and forgot to do regular project bag posts!  Here's a final one while I think about stitch patterns. The bag was in a goody bag at a fundraiser. I have used the bag, the lotion, and become an Aesop customer as a result.  It contains the Sakai steeked cardigan project in Wash My Lace.  I have nearly arrived at the underarm divide, and have used about 40g of yarn.  The sleeves will take more yardage, but this is going to be a super lightweight cardigan.  ⠀ ⠀#identitykal The artwork is from Laureen Marchand.
