i got tagged by @verycoolwearsleather and now i have to pretend i have a writing process haha

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

it says 52 but there's actually a lot more due to orphaning/anon-ing things.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

345,519 but again i'm not sure how much tha's counting

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

just telling it like it is (lando/maxv)

pretty sure this is just cus it's the oldest fic i have since the account reboot because it absolutely does not merit being anywhere near the top 10 lol it's just a 5+1 about other mando being obvious (it's anon'd cus i got bored of a load of my fics and didn't want them as part of the emptyhalf canon anymore)

for something i started writing offhand cus some of my friends were saying there should be more trans men in f1 fic, this one sure grew legs. i'm still insanely moved by the comments it gets and the way it seemed to resonate with people. i'm not sure i can really convey how dumb i actually am in a way that'd make people believe me but i really did just write this on vibes and it's one of the things i can say i'm genuinely glad i did. idk, it's just queer porn really but maybe we need more of that.

you know i don't even think this is close to my best mando fic (personal choice is no plans of staying on) so there's no accounting for taste and you absolutely should practice death of the author or whatever. anyway, it's mando cohabitation era boundary breakdown stuff where they fuck and then go on a date about it.

literally THEE most head empty omegaverse threesome fic in history y'all are horny as fuck. it literally only got written bc george did some dumb insta post where he called lando and alex his mates and also then was walking around looking horny af in the black fireproofs and mask when he stood in for lewis. there is NO nutritional content here even by the fast food standards of emptyhalf fic.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

i uh. i should. i would like to but my brain is quite severely broken. i do read them all and i bookmark a lot in open tabs to come back to and reply to because they mean a lot but then i have 6000 tabs open and no executive function.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

we don't do that here. i guess maybe if you dig into the far distant past then it was probably i'm not just a fuck up, i'm the fuck up you love which is 18k words of jev not really getting over daniel that ends on a sort of optimistically blasted-open note.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

most of them are happy but probably actually pick me up, no headlights where george and max end up with their weird little family worked out and the kids are doing well, y'know

8. Do you get hate on fics?

no i don't think enough people read them to beef me lol

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

hahahaha oh yea. i like to think i write something along the lines of realistic queer sex, with the way that means it's mostly kind of funny and sometimes awakward and isn't elegant or arch or even particularly romantic except that you're getting to do it with the person you do it with. writing lando and oscar being straight with each other, even if it's in a cringe fail way, made me realise i really do not write straight people and i feel a bit like one of those painfully hetero actors who does a gay kissing scene and talks about how they had to get themselves in the mindset by watching the l word or whatever haha. what do straight people do? who are they?

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

i was gonna say no but then i remembered i wrote logan and oscar going ghosthunting and being kinda pass-agg horny about it because. idk? logan gave me ryan bergara vibes.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

i think someone reposted some of mine awhile ago and it got dealt with before i really knew anything about it idk

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

i don't know tbh. someone made a podfic of one of my fics a way back.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

yeah i used to do that quite a lot but now. i am a lone wolf. (too perverse for other people's minds)

jenson/lewis but society has never been ready for this

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i don't. i don't wanna let doubt enter into it but my daniel goes to fe fic is up against a number of the dark souls boss level demons in my own brain 😔

16. What are your writing strengths?

uh. i uh. i can write on my phone? i have a relaxed attitude to whether what i write is any good at all? i don't actually think i really have any.

people quite often say i have a lot of emotional intelligence in my fics which is very funny to me because i am a deeply unemotionally intelligent person so idk how that's happened really.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

look we could be here all day.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i guess it has never bothered me so long as the reader could be reasonably expected to work out the meaning from the context.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

cardcaptor sakura (i was 14)

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

hmmm. in terms of thinking it's like, good or whatever it's probably don't say no or you'll have to go, the fucked up valtteri/george mutual seat envy/horror of being compared to lewis hamilton thing. or really, it's an old spy au fic called ten seconds before sunrise that i deleted ages ago so: sorry about that.

but favourite is probably some dumb mando shit or i have extreme recency bias so maybe logan and oscar go ghosthunting or whatever. oh wait, no, it's genders maxy the how-to-find-your-identity-post-racing-in-your-pussy treatise that was born of crack but ended up. no, it's still crack. anyway, classic emptyhalf shit tbh.

hello friends! figured as long as i am procrastinating writing i may as well answer these questions. i was tagged by the wonderful @thrillingdetectivetales! thank u beloved :-)

1. how many works do you have on ao3?

40! it used to be more but i broke my ‘no deleting works’ rule to get rid of a few that i honestly believe were doing more harm than good being up.

2. what’s your total ao3 word count?

317,486. kinda wild! i remember hitting 100,000 and being like, holy shit. that’s a lot of words.

3. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?

1. peaches & plums, the magicians, 833 kudos

2. Come With Me, hamilton, 514 kudos

3. some are born to endless night, star wars, 329 kudos

4. if it is not alright now, then now is not the end, hamilton, 307 kudos

5. promises are meant to be kept, hamilton, 228 words

i’m gonna go ahead and disclaim that list with the simple facts that a, hamilton is my oldest fandom so those fics have been around the longest, and b, i wrote main pairs for hamilton. i do not do that very much anymore. is a huge relief that my most kudosed fic is not hamilton, though.

4. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

yes! i love receiving and replying to comments. discussing fic is one of my favorite things in thee world. this is maybe a bad thing, but one of the things that makes me more likely to comment on other people’s fic is if they tend to respond to comments: for me, comments are a space to engage with the author and let them know what you liked or ask any questions you may have. if they don’t engage, i feel a little weird shouting into the void. so i try to give that kind of engagement to my own readers! should note that i do sometimes fail to reply to shorter comments on older fics, but otherwise i think i’ve replied to almost every comment i’ve ever gotten.

5. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

the deleted ones. they sure were about being a teenager and being catastrophically sad about it. god. and a lot of my fics that are still up from before, idk, 2018? are just pure self-indulgent angst. i don’t like to look at them. i guess more recently, the ‘angstiest’ fics i’ve written would be you were the most exciting thing i’d ever known (turn), cough it out (undrafted), and d’celui que son coeur aime (hockey rpf), but i’d say those endings are less angsty than unresolved, in a way that, you know, could be hopeful.

6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

well, if they’re not interminable angst, they’re all pretty happy. not sure how to quantify that. my older fics tend to end with more unbridled joy, i suppose, but i couldn’t name a Happiest One.

7. do you write crossovers? if so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?

i have never published a crossover. HOWEVER, a long, long time ago, my friend and i came up with the idea for a sense8/hamilton crossover that crosses my mind every so often. i’ve always loved the band of brothers/the pacific crossover fics as well, and that one sledgefu/baberoe mixup fic from a couple years ago lives rent free in my brain. i would love to explore that further. (on another note, everyone keeps ignoring the brock boeser/harry jowsey hockey rpf/too hot to handle crossover event that i would like to force you all to bear witness to. but i’m not sure that counts as a crossover because it’s just two ‘real life’ dudes who i think should kiss.)

8. have you ever received hate on a fic?

nope! everyone has been lovely and kind and uplifting to me during my time on ao3. i’ve received some strange comments, but no mean ones.

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

yes! but i am relatively new to it. (i say this. i have been writing it for two? three? years? but i have not published very much of it, so i still feel like a newborn fawn every time i venture into that genre.) i am also not sure what ‘what kind’ is supposed to mean, but i did write hockey rpf knifeplay that one time. cheers?

10. have you ever had a fic stolen?

nope! i do not think i am popular enough for anyone looking for fic to steal to happen across me. i do think someone trying to claim, like, ballet class with a visitor (hockey rpf) as their own would be funny, though.

11. have you ever had a fic translated?

not yet! i think one may? be in the works? but i have not heard back from the person responsible for a bit. i welcome all fic translation requests!

12. have you ever co-written a fic before?

nope, and i don’t plan on it! i am a terror in group projects. i could be working with, idk, markus zusak and i still wouldn’t trust him to put my ideas into words in a way that i wanted. i just get very controlling and snippy if my style and my co-writer’s style don’t exactly mesh, so i can happily say co-writing fic would be a bad time for everyone involved, and i don’t want to put anyone through that.

13. what’s your all-time favorite ship?

hmmmm i don’t think i have one! if you’d asked me this five years ago, the answer might have been alexander hamilton/john laurens. if you’d asked three years ago, it might have been lewis nixon/dick winters. if you’d asked, like, six months ago it would’ve been ‘idk, something hockey-related?’ i am fickle and changeable and cannot pick favorites.

14. what’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

oh, so many ideas for the pacific. sometimes i go back and listen longingly to the playlist for a little less human (the pacific) and think about how much i love pirates. and then i remember how much i hate plot, and yeah. that fic is not getting written. would love to repurpose it into an original pirate lesbian story if i ever decide that plot is my thing, though.

15. what are your writing strengths?

i like to think i write pretty good descriptive prose! people also tend to like the way i handle relationship dynamics, the way i write pretty genuine human emotions, and my fondness for metaphors/motifs.

16. what are your writing weaknesses?

haha. i don’t like editing. at all. once i finish writing something, i don’t want to look at it anymore. it’s already embarrassing, get it away. let someone else on the internet read it and judge it so i don’t have to think about it. i can force myself through like, one or two rounds of editing (and by that i mean like. light editing. grammatical errors, word choice, etc. i am not rewriting whole sections or anything), but after that i need several days (weeks? months?) before i can even think about reading it closely again. i think because of that, a lot of my writing reads like a first draft. it can get purple, repetitive, unoriginal. but i’m also having fun with it and i learn something new with every story i write, so i’m not, like, mad about it.

17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i do this a lot! i think it takes practice to understand how to include it in a way that’s not clunky or awkward, but it can be really effective if you’re doing it for a reason. i also think it helps if you are actually multilingual or can talk to someone who is, because you can think about it from a personal perspective. like, when i’m throwing in dialogue in another language, i’m thinking, okay, how would i do this? why would i do this? would i do this if i were in this specific situation? how do i think about switching languages? how do i use the languages i speak in different situations? and so on. i will say, if there’s a fic that includes another language in a weird or awkward way, it’s an instant turn-off for me, haha.

18. what was the first fandom you wrote for?

well, that depends on how you define ‘wrote for.’ i wrote warrior cats roleplays with my friends for like, five or six years of my life. and i mean four hundred page tomes of roleplays, full of stupid conflict and overripe descriptions and a million cats named shit like mistytwilight. then i wrote really shitty supernatural fanfiction in middle school that i never published because i barely knew what an ao3 was. and then i published my first fic on ao3, and it was for hamilton. so take your pick.

19. what’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

the terror!!!!!!!!!!! on GOD i will write something for that stupid show, i just need to get over being intimidated by the super intellectual fandom, lmao. everyone i have met through the terror has been so smart and good at writing and knowledgeable about everything to do with 19th century naval exploration, and i feel like a small child throwing out a peace sign every so often when i reblog a silly gifset of the square man who is in love with the little teapot man.

20. what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

it’s still gotta be got no brakes (hockey rpf). my magnum opus. quite honestly the best thing i have ever written. this is the one piece of writing i can revisit as many times as i please and not cringe internally at any part of it. every time i read it i have a brief flicker of hope that maybe, maybe, through all the bullshit and writer’s block and self-doubt and bad bad fanfiction, maybe i am a decent writer. it’s also just incredibly absurd, and it reminds me of people who i love a lot because it is essentially one extended inside joke. just many good feelings tied to jeep fic, and i think everyone should experience it.

Where do you live? I live in the town just below the city of Omaha in Nebraska

Three things you are doing right now? Doing this, worrying about life, and thinking about writing fics

Four fandoms that have peaked your interest Wrestling and that’s the most recent and......technically the only one....since I don’t interact with other fan bases like I do that one. Like....I’m a fan of small things like Youtubers and little niches of life

How has the pandemic been treating you? Well, I was in college when it first started back in March. And then my school had the fun idea of first, going online which....as someone who has a hard time focusing and retaining information through online things, it wasn’t easy. After that I had to move twice in one week because of the pandemic, I had to move from my apartment-like dorm to a small dorm by myself for 4 days then I had to move across campus into a dorm meant to house 4 people all alone and....that was a struggle. I didn’t like being alone. Then I had to move back home in August and I finished my degree....got a seasonal job at a pumpkin patch and now I’m looking to find a job now while I’m in my own place and.....gosh....a lot of things could’ve gone better this year but....it wasn’t the pandemic’s fault or anything. But a lot of stuff during the pandemic that’s happened has been such a struggle for my mental health and everything....

A song you can’t stop listening to right now? Umm....tbh WAP by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion...like.....idk it’s been on my mind a lot lol and I tend to have like a varying list of songs ranging from like ones in kids movies I grew up with to wrestling theme songs and even the early 2000′s songs I listen to....but WAP has been on my brain no thanks to the Drew video @jazzy-tzw made

How old are you? 22!

School, university, occupation, other? I just finished my degree in animal science now I’m currently trying to find a job to make ends meet but that’s been a little tough as of late....

Do you prefer heat or cold? Cold! Because at least I can add on layers if it’s cold. I hate the heat especially since my birthday is in August and it can get up to 103 to even a 110 degree index here.

Name one fact others may not know about you Oooh....idk what people don’t know about me....but....let’s go with the fact I have a birthmark on my back that looks like a kiss mark. Is that interesting enough? lol

Are you shy? Yes! Irl, I am very shy, I won’t ask someone a question unless I know them. Once I start getting to know people though, I will be more relax and more bubbly. And mainly with my friends. But if I have to socialize with someone, I will do it.

Preferred pronouns? She/Her/Hers

Biggest pet peeves? Someone beating around the bush when I’m directly talking to them. I had an art teacher in high school and she hated a painting I was doing and apparently had hinted she hated it until the day before it was due when she pulled me aside and told me I should change my piece (basically start over) and she gave me an extra week. It...was the worst feeling because she would’ve saved me time by being upfront (and she was the reason I never wanted to pursue art because her criticism wasn’t helpful) but I hate people who aren’t upfront, especially when I’m talking to them. I also hate when....people lead me on. I’m very obvious about my feelings and I’m upfront about it when I get to it....so feeling as if someone was dragging me along for a ride only to dump me off a cliff (The feeling) isn’t fun and I hate it. And I’m annoyed by people who want to “messy” when that just entails them to be fucking petty ass people who make fun of others for trivial things but can’t stand when it’s done to them. It happens so much in this fandom and the reason I stick to the friends I have on here. The whole idea of being “messy” to them is to laugh at other people’s expense by stirring a pot and then laughing when people get rightfully upset. JS

What is your favorite “dere” type? Oh I’ve seen this before but it’s a niche thing that I don’t know much about so I can’t answer it

Rate your life from 1-10; 1 being crappy and 10 being the best it could be. A solid.....6 or 7. Lately my life has been pretty fucking sucky in terms of luck and in terms of disappointment. I’ve had faced so much heartache this year and pain and just major disappointments that made me afraid of some things. But in general, my past wasn’t terrible but there are moments that have happened that I won’t forget and aren’t the best....a solid 10 would mean I lived a comfortable life and....I can’t say it’s been a 10.

What’s your main blog? This one. I have 2 blogs (technically 3 since one is a backup in case I get the case of people reporting my blog for nothing again). The last one I had was basically when I used to be in the 1D fandom and this one is the only one I actually post from.

Is there something people need to know about you before becoming friends? Um....I kinda...like people who won’t flake on me....I’ve had a lot of people do that in the past which is why I’m particular to that sorta thing. I have a certain way of differentiating a “friend” vs “best friends” and that distinction means so much to me....so....to betray that level of connection or even.....be offput by it (meaning the feeling isn’t as mutual [and you say it to my face]) then you won’t be a part of my life....and that’s....just how I am. I’ve had a lot of fake friends (in the sense that my friendship to them meant nothing or not even mean to treat me with like kindness or whatever) so I’m not here for that anymore.
