hi this is the anon from rin & jade that was asking about race and plurality. what y'all were saying aligns more with how i feel about it - i'm confused and uncomfortable with my friends saying they are POC when they don't have that lived experience and never will. part of it is they say their headmates are real full individuals that have lives outside the body and are only living in the body for its lifetime. does that change anything...? idk i just want as many opinions as possible thank y'all
It's... it's so ridiculously just... extremely uh... I don't want to say "racist" because that is a heavy word but its drenched in so so so so so so so so so so so so so much "I am white and don't understand the first thing about POC" that I literally don't.... have words.
Like we don't identify "as plural" even though people would likely group us in that area as we "have multiple 'people' / 'parts' / 'personalities' living and sharing a life in one body" as we have DID and do live a "double life" and so the "plural" "community" might have a different say on it, but that is still just Not OK.
I'm not saying it would be ok if they at least specified a culture or ethnicity - but just generalizing their identity and culture as "brown"???? What does that even MEAN? The fact that its generalized yet they are some how "exploring it" is just so fucking weird and white because "brown" people don't fucking exist as a group other than "not black and white". The term "brown people" is literally just.... I don't have enough living brain cells to explain just whats fucked up about that but the term - coming from a white person that seems to think there is a 'brown person culture' - comes off as EXTREMELY racist and at the very least as someone fetishizing whatever they think 'brown people' are.
And on top of that, it doesn't matter what you are if you are white you are white, I don't care if you are a fucking alien, cyborg, angel, a door knob or bowl of boiled soup - whatever you internally identify as racially does not give you any extra rights or priviledges that is not a lived experience. I don't care about psuedo memories or "past lives" white people stay in your lane holy shit.
If you tell me you - as an alter - identify as a bowl of miso soup I will respect that and whatever that means to you, but that DOESNT mean you get to go around claiming to be Japanese and appropriating the culture.
BUT FOR REAL WHAT THE FUCK IS BROWN PERSON AND THE BROWN PEOPLE CULTURE WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT EVEN SUPPOSED TO MEAN
Ugh my poor brain ok I need to log out of tumblr on my PC so I stop screaming about what the fuck is a 'brown person'
Oh god that such a White Person thing to say.
Pain.
