Summertime with Robin Buckley
Pairing: Robin x Reader (f!reader because Robin is a LESBIAN, y'all seem to forget about this) Warnings: none? just fluff and cuteness Masterlist
It woud've been Steve's plan to take everyone out for a day at the beach, just to take a break from all of the supernatural shit
So ofc, you and Robin joined
Steve would act as everyone's mom and give you all hell with wearing suncream
Robin would put it on you obv and she'd make a show if she touched you somewhere she shouldn't have (in public at least, hehe)
You obviously put the suncream on here, even though she insists that she is a big girl and can do it by herself. You try not to remind her of that one time that she did it on her own and ended up burning her whole back, except two hand-shaped bits that were okay.
When you'd finally get into the water you'd start swimming and telling her to join you because the water was fantastic
As she said, she had a hard time learning how to walk as a child, well, she also had trouble learning how to swim
She puppy swims, and Steve (former lifeward and all that) likes to make fun of her bc of it (not in a mean way obv)
She gets kind of embarrassed and goes to you for comfort
She gets mad when her hair gets full of salt and sand, you know, sensory issues
Would like to make sandcastles with you, would find some pretty cool seashells and rocks, some of which she'd gift to you
Ok, dont fight me on this one, she would look so freaking cute with wet hair
She gets all cuddly and lovely
Likes to sit down on your towel with her head on your shoulder just staring off into the sea

so i, like most people, pretty much subscribe to the bisexual steve harrington and bisexual nancy wheeler cinematic universes and all that and i've never really had any conflicting thoughts about it
but i was thinking about it this morning and i'm having gay thoughts and i just wanted to pitch them as a lesbian projecting my experiences onto these guys
specifically steve and nancy are so interesting when thinking about this because - partly because they dated - their fanon identities are SO popular and pretty rigid that it's almost accepted as canon. and i dont want to step on that at all but i do want to explore it...
i'm gonna go back and forth but we're gonna dip our toe in with steve.
the thing about him is that basically since season 1 he's been - not queer coded - but definitely immediately latched onto by both fandom and the actors as queer in some way. the guy who played tommy hagan apparently played tommy as harboring feelings for steve, same with dacre as billy, and the way ostensibly one of the only popular ships in the first couple of years or so was stoncy. so like there's this groundwork there which is admittedly impacted by the fact that joe is like. an attractive white adult man. obviously.
but i'm sitting here as a lesbian also really drawn to steve for a lot of reasons but particularly because i see a lot of myself in him? i'm running with something here okay -
season 1 steve is head over heels for nancy. that's, like, undeniable, and honestly the main reason people think he's attracted to women at all but !
he's practiced. he knows what to say to girls. and everyone tells him he's barking up the wrong tree. nancy is too smart for him and honestly super uncomfortable when tied to him. she's playing hard to get, that's his favorite game. she sleeps with him, sure, but she doesn't tell anyone about it, she doesn't like how affectionate he is all the way up to season 2, is honestly incapable of saying she loves him. he's heartbroken by that, but he's not surprised. he's spent a lot of time basically trying to force this pretty little box to close tightly and it bursts open in his hands. and he's upset even though he knew it wouldn't all fit.
there's this through-line with nancy that she's being misunderstood all the time and she resents it, that she knows what she wants and makes it clear to herself but nobody can read her well enough to figure it out. and steve is part of that. she's vaguely uncomfortable with him and his affection and how much he loves her and honestly deeply resents him for not being able to see her and her priorities.
for nancy, she's with steve because he's nice and funny and attractive and he's who she should want to be with. he makes her feel good and gives her butterflies and whatever but it's not really steve she likes, is it? she likes that steve likes her and fights for her and respects her and shows her love and for a year she convinces herself that that's what love is!!
but it's not. of course it's not. she didn't love steve and she doesn't even really know she doesn't until he asks her to say it. and she can't. she didn't know she was lying until she was confronted with it and it's deeply sad for steve but it's also deeply sad for her.
maybe this is just me projecting as someone who was "boy crazy" through middle and high school, but the person you have tricked yourself into thinking you loved noticing that you don't, won't, can't love them, feels like shit. you want to prove them wrong. you want to prove yourself wrong.
because nancy is different than steve. after barb dies, she is no longer friendly with like. any girls. at all. honestly until season 4 when ronance started to get popular she was probably most often headcanoned as this badass straight girl or whatever, which is fine obviously, but also maybe by design?
her best friend is a lesbian (overwhelmingly in fanon) and after she dies she only interacts with men until robin. boys understand her and she wants to prove to them that she's tough and they like her, she's the queen of hawkins high or whatever fred benson says to her.
like. immediately after she ends things with steve, she's with jonathan, because he likes her a lot and he sees her more clearly than steve did and she thinks: okay this is what i needed, this one is right, it's better, it's good
come season 3, she's frustrated again because jonathan doesnt really understand her the way she wants to be understood. but they love each other! she wants to make this work! she's the most driven person she knows, she is determined and stubborn and after everything, there's no reason she shouldn't want to be with jonathan. so they make it work and it's good. all patched up.
brief look back at steve: hitting on women and completely striking out this entire season. it's comical actually. it's actually embarrassing how bad he strikes out, it's like his spark is gone, like he's not even trying! he hardly has the time, anyway, with the kids and work and the upside down. all that.
and then, after some pressing with dustin, he falls for robin. like falls for her. and she's totally different from nancy, because nancy wasn't emotionally available, nancy would never have been able to love him, he's come to terms with that. but robin?
oh she's a lesbian.
season 4. steve is going on dates with girls he doesn't like, who don't like him, who he's not even interested in. robin points it out: you have no idea what you want. which is true. he's very easily swayed. he falls fast and hard but it's never good, he wants something REAL. robin knows exactly what she wants. if only they could combine...
enter nancy wheeler. getting slow-motion broken up with by her boyfriend, too busy to care. boys love her, by the way, she's sought-after, but she has a good excuse. she has a boyfriend that lives far away. she doesnt know why he doesn't come to visit her, but she's also not really interested in coming to visit him either. they're at a stalemate. and it's perfect. she gets to live her life free of romance because she technically already has a boyfriend who loves her very much.
and then her and steve are thrown back together again, and they're so different from how they used to be after less than a year and a half. they've grown and they. woah, they want completely different things. he wants six kids and she thinks that's a nightmare. she doesn't want to be like her mom, doesn't want some big nuclear family, and the problems she and steve had haven't gone away, but she still flirts with him. she thinks it's fun. it doesn't mean anything. she's with jonathan now.
and everyone is up both of their asses like: oh my god nancy and steve need to get back together, they lost each other along the way, they were destined to be together.
but really. steve couldn't be going after someone less interested in him if he tried, with nancy. not with robin or the girls he goes on dates with. he's so positive he likes girls, and these girls never ever like him back (and when they do... he's painfully disinterested), and he doesn't consider why he keeps crawling back to something so unattainable on purpose. over and over again.
and nancy, really is only chasing the opposite of what other people expect from her. she doesn't want to be her mom. she doesnt want to be with steve. she doesnt want to be with jonathan. but thats what everyone thinks she wants. and the worst part is that she doesn't really know what she wants! because this is what she knows she's supposed to want! she's got to be with some man if she's going to get anywhere she wants in life. but god, it is never about the men at all.
im just sitting here holding steve harrington by the face, like: please examine why you are exclusively interested in women that want nothing to do with you. examine why you're so determined to make things work with people you know it will not work with.
and i'm sitting here holding nancy wheeler by the face, like: please examine why you are exclusively interested in men only when they've expressed romantic interest in you first. examine why you're so determined to stay in relationships that you're unhappy in for way past their expiration date. because being pursued feels worse.
i'm just saying that all the crushes i had when i was in high school ended up coming out as gay after graduation or were otherwise extremely disinterested. and every guy i did date had to literally corner me in a hallway to ask me out before the last day of school or something so i wouldnt literally run away from them.

“Yeah your a idiot!” Robin laughed “am not!” Steve said defending himself. “I wouldn’t say idiot.. dork is another thing or jerk!” Eddie stated not really a good defender of his own boyfriend, “Munson!” Steve yelled. “What I still love youuuu!” Eddie jumped of the counter and kissed Steve right on the lips, making Steve blush a lot. “Ewwww” Dustin complained. “I think it’s cute!” Nancy said right into Dustin’s face. “I know right!!” Robin squealed.
Steve and Eddie were holding hands. And robin and Nancy were talking about how cute Steve and Eddie were. “Henderson, you don’t have to saw ewww because I kissed ur bestie!” “I thought he was ur bestie Harrington” Robin said slanting her smile. Nancy was braiding Robins hair and she looked really cute which made Nancy blush a bit, she obviously had butterfly’s in her stomach. Eddie noticed Nancy’s face was red and he said “is the wheeler lesbian too?” Smirking holding in a laugh. Nancy was so red she almost collapsed. “Uhhh…” Robin was very confused. “She just looks pretty…!” Nancy blurted out.
A few hours passed and all of them were still chatting. Eddie was messing with Dustin’s hair stroking it and curling it making it look like a mess because it was already so curly. Steve and robin were chatting about work and shit. Nancy was staring into Robins eyes and robin turned back and noticed it. “Nancy?” Robin said. Snapping out of her trance she noticed that Robin was up in her face trying to make sure she wasn’t with vecna. Nancy didn’t think and leaned in closer towards robins lips and looked down at her lips. Robin noticed this and kissed Nancy. “Awww, so cute!” Eddie said softly.
“Why don’t we go to sleep?” Steve questioned as Eddie got up and collapsed on Steve, obviously he wanted to be picked up. “I guess we coulddd but are we sleeping with those two lovebirds” Dustin said glaring at Nancy and robin. “Do you not know what a guest room is for?” Steve said as he held Eddie. “There’s two guest rooms Henderson, robin and nance will sleep in one and you will sleep in another” Steve stated “Eddie is sleeping with you??” Dustin questioned “obviously, he’s my boyfriend”
Eddie was asleep with steve cuddled up with his boyfriend while Dustin was watching the stars in the other room bored to death. Robin and Nancy were not cuddling but awake talking about the boys and Dustin, probably playing truth or dare too. “Alright nance truth or dare?” Robin said “hmm truth” Nancy said calmly. Robin thought of a good thing. “Did you kiss me earlier because you love me or because I was so close?” Robin asked “uhh… because I loved y-you..” Nancy blushed and so did robin. “Eddie can you stop moving around..” Steve said looking at Eddie. His eyes opened to see Steve staring at his face. “Wat..?” Eddie said clearly tired and not trying to speak properly. “Stop moving” Steve pushed him away and Eddie just scoffed “mean!”
Eddie was back asleep and Steve was still awake listening to robin and Nancy laughing and talking. Eddie was sweating in his sleep. The thing was that Eddie has nightmares about Chrissy and other things, and when he was with steve he was comfortable and felt safe with his cuddles but steve wasn’t cuddling him. “F-FUCK” Eddie sat up as steve flinched to see what he was doing. “Eddie?” Steve said as he noticed what just happened. Eddie was crying and sweating for a reason “are you okay Munson?” Steve said coming closer “i-im fine..” Eddie said breathing heavily as he cuddled closer to steve. “Is it a nightmare?” Steve said “m-maybe..” steve kissed Eddie on the cheek and said “it will be okay..”
Pt 2 is coming soon DONT worryyy
This is very cute but old, I’m still posting it 😂😂
Btw this was written in 2021
It is currently 2023

ok so since in the disc server im in wont pay attention to my robin rant im js gonna drop it here..dont get me wrong i absolutely love robin sm. since steve knows that robin is lesbian, and the show takes place in 1980s, yk homophobia is like normalized and whatever, just what if steve is talking to some of his friends and brings up robin, and accidently lets it slip out that shes lesbian, and watches as their faces scrunch up when they hear the word "lesbian" and then he realizes what he said and looks away and imagine his friends ask "youre friends with a lesbian?" and then they say "well we have to go" and walk away but just imagine they just dont walk away for nothing but to look for robin, and lets just say its not pretty, and when they find robin obviously shes alone and then while they walk up to her they obviously say slurs towards, and i just imagine her turning around FAST. like really fast, and stumble backwards when they walk closer and i just imagine them landing the first hit on her, and i can imagine her fighting back but since shes out numbered she gives up eventually and just lets the hit go at her over and over and i imagine people just walking past them but not doing nothing because they hear them yell out lesbo at her and then imagine steve hearing the slurs and derogatory words thrown so he runs towards it and finds robin on the ground bleeding out while they surround her and steve just watches and then one guy turns around and says "steve this is the freak you hang out with?" and then he just nods slowly and i imagine them asking if hes the same and he says no and just watches and stands watching his friend get beat up and when they walk away he runs up to her shaking her asking for her to get up but from the amount of blood loss she fainted,,, dont get me wrong i know steve would at least help but im js imagining he doesnt because he doesnt wanna get called queer, freak etc yk?...

Now I’m curious about your ST thoughts!!!😭 but could you talk about your favorite parts of stranger things/your favorite characters? (If you don’t want to share the unpopular opinions ofc!)
omg of course i have No Fear of discourse, i'm always open to sharing unpopular opinions, i just couldn't be bothered to type up a whole post unprompted lmao but okay
starting with my fav parts of the show:
i will forever say s1 is the best season of the show and it really doesn't matter how good s5 is, because it won't top s1. from the bottom of my heart i think stranger things would have been a kickass miniseries and probably should have stopped after season 1 because i think it went from a good show to a fun show after that
that said there are always things i love from each season. in s2 i really adored hopper and el's story, in s3 i loved robin's inclusion, and in s4 i thought the max stuff was really great
i am also unashamedly a stancy truther and i literally dont care what y'all say i'm correct and it would actually make PERFECT sense for them to get back together now
hopper is forever my fav character and i think david harbour's performance in this show is truly incredible
then if we want to go to my um... controversial opinions. i'll just let them rip
i think all the kid actors except for sadie sink have gotten noticeably worse. although i would say gaten matarazzo is pretty much the same, and i want to say finn wolfhard hasn't gotten worse but maybe that's because he was so great in the it movies. in this, there's really no way to tell bc they don't give him anything to do lmao
i don't have any real investment in the mike/will/el love triangle but i will say if you rewatch the first season, it's pretty clear that mike really loved el and i think it's just because they feel so lackluster right now that people are convinced they won't end up together but like. i personally would not be getting my hopes up lmao
i also think fanon perception of the show has truly gotten so divorced from reality it's literally crazy. i can expand upon this but i don't want to piss people off THAT much lmao
i think stranger things has a huge problem with consistent characterization and there's always one character you see that with most pronounced from season to season. in s2 it was joyce who straightened her hair and put on eyeshadow and became an entirely different kind of parent because of that i guess. s3 it was hopper who became an oafish comedic device. and in s4 i hate to say it and you guys will be mad, but robin. that is a different fucking character than season 3!!! in s3 she was like. the cool girl/savvy loner, kind of snarky, relatively sarcastic and like ridiculously smart. in s4 she's just like gangly and awkward and talks a mild a minute and claims to have no understanding of social cues. what???? i mean, i like the nerdy lesbian as much as the cool lesbian but that's just blatantly not what she was and i think it's really disappointing that they took this character that was aloof and witty and very socially savvy and made her a nerd because that's how writing lesbians made more sense in their brain i guess i don't know
and for the real kicker..... i think eleven should have died in s4. i'm actually so fucking bored that she didn't. and that's not because i hate her character but because she has effectively turned into a deus ex machina and i am tired of every season ending with millie bobby brown sticking her hand out and screaming until the monster dies. i was SO BORED during the last half of that battle. and look, they had their chance to get rid of that deus ex machina without killing her when they took her powers away, but they obviously didn't know how to write without that convenient plot device in their back pocket so they immediately gave her powers back to her. stupid! killing 11 would have genuinely been the most interesting thing to do going into s5 because then our main cast would be confronted with how to stop the monster without their resident superhero, and that's a difficult thing to write which is obviously why the stranger things writers didn't want to do it lmao. so yea. i'm team kill eleven before the finale so i don't have to sit through another hour of telekinetic lazy writing

I saw this discourse on your account a while ago about an anon asking what pro-ship is and I'd like to inform you that the person that replied and told you that it's just shipping pedophilic ships and such, is wrong. (Sorry, I just remembered about it.)
Pro-ship is anti-harassment against people and their fictional ships. All it is is Anti-Harrassment for people shipping what they ship. As well as not invalidating people's ships because they ship something that's problematic- in any and all ways, more than just pedophilia.
Examples can be Billy Hargrove x Steve Harrington, Steve Harrington x Robin Buckley, and of course it can be things such as Henry x Jane Hopper or Nancy Wheeler x Mike Wheeler. However, pro-ship is more than just validating and supporting problematic ships, it can also be just normal ships as well. Some examples can be Tommy Hagan x Steve Harrington, Robin Buckly x Chrissy Cunningham, etc.
Pro-ship is not but can include dark themes, taboo topics, etc.
Pro-ship is just generally not invalidating someone nor harassing someone for their ship that is fictional. Fictional is not reality.
Pro-ship are aware of the things that aren't okay with their ship if it was reality.
Pro-ship does not mean you support or condone such actions in real life.
A percentage of pro-ship people use their ships and content as a coping mechanism and suggested by therapist to vent out their traumas.
••••••••••••
However, anti-shippers are just people who don't agree with pro-ship beliefs.
Such as validating ships that someone ships. Examples are (like above but put into more general dynamics) bother x sister or teacher x student or racist character x poc characters or gay x lesbian, they believe its wrong and shouldn't be supported.
They dont believe its okay to make and distribute this content, even if fictional because of their morals and own humane principle. Which is completely understandable Although most anti's will use pedophilia to describe why they're not pro-ship (of which pro-ship is not pedophilia)
Another point anti's tend to use against pro-ship supporters is that they're pedophiles themselves. However, that isnt completely true. I've heard about known Anti's to be pedophiles but not a peep from pro-ship supporters besides one person who was using pro-ship as a way to cover why minors are allowed in adult spaces, which isn't good and shouldn't be supported.
Although both sides shouldn't harrass anyone on either side, it's a common method from Antis to harrass, dox, suicide bait, send gore, death threats, etc to Pro's. Some of the Anti community does not agree nor support with such actions people in their community are doing and most, if not all, pro's refrain from such actions on matter the side you take because it goes against their own beliefs as Pro-ship. (However I'm not saying some dont do it, just pointing out that most of the community does not claim them and will heavily apologize for their behavior as they're disgusted as well)
I wanted to send this to you so you knew for your own acknowledgement.
To people on both sides, I hope I explained your beliefs well as a neutral person who collects information of both sides but prominently pro's because of their more less threatening tones and violence towards people who dont agree or have opinions on such matters.
I hope you have a lovely day mei ♡
okay so by your explanation pro-shipping is just very inclusive and judgement-free and that's why problematic ships get lumped in there, because it's the only place they tend to not get penalized, yeah? i get it. it's really hard to be a blanket statement kinda person, you know? i have specific values and morals that conflict with taboo ships (incest, pedophilia, racist/poc, gay/homophobe, straight man/lesbian, etc) so i could never label myself pro-ship, even if the ships are fictional. there's just some lines that i myself won't cross even if it's in fiction, so i wouldn't ever be 100% pro or anti ship. obviously i ship characters but there are exceptions and i have limits so i suppose i am neither.
i hear what you're saying: of course, not every pro-shipper is into taboo stuff in fiction, nor in real life, and some antis are. but in general if more taboo behavior is centered around or publicly engaged in by members of one particular side (pedophilic shipping or incestual shipping or the like), and it's not spoken out against? that's gonna be their reputation. I know that not every proshipper is into morally wrong or illegal relationships, but there's still going to be people assuming that everyone is chill with it if no one stamps it out. pro/anti-shipper just seem like very polarized terms and i myself don't relate to either, and i'm sure many others don't either.

Some of the things that made me 🤌feel something✨ in Stranger Things s4 that definitely weren't supposed to: (kinda began to rant/ramble, but im funny so you should still read it)
- as a part of the "I watch everything with subtitles" gang, the amount of goofy description subtitles is bonkers. In a good way- i, too, would describe that sound as squelching, but that, like, implies wetness? Must one put "squelches wetly" ??? Also, the amount of "eldritch" as a descriptor. Jeez. You know you can say "weird", "sinister", or "ghastly", right? I mean, ok, sinister is used. But like yo. My favorite subtitle has been "eldritch thrumming".
- Henry/Vecna/One/Orderly's timeline. (More below cut)
I dont know how old we're assuming he is, since I haven't finished episode 9 (ITS TWO HOURS AND FUCKING 22 MINUTES THAT IS SO GODDAMN FUCKING ABSURD) so idk if there's been clarity but like. One looks not a day over 25 in 1983 which is when I assume El escapes the lab. But Jamie was probably 28-31 when filming the show, since he's 33, as of when I searched him last night. And Two looks MAAAAAYbe fuckn 17, more likely 14/15. So like. How old was Henry when he committed the murders, how old was he when he became One, how old was he when he became an orderly instead, how old was he when he became Vecna??? EXPLAIN TO ME.
- while I'm thinking about it. This . Is a goddamn. Television show. Right? I grew up in the golden days (everyone romanticized their childhood experiences, im no exception, yes this is a huge generalization and recognize for yourself if you agree with this and please just let me continue, im feeling cynical toward myself) where something called Television (or TV) shows had seasons of about 20 episodes at least, and each episode was anywhere between 20-45 minutes. And. It worked great. Sure, without commercials, you have to fill a whole half/full hour of content, but like. Tv shows these days... I dont remember the last one I watched that was from these days that was longer than 10 episodes, if it even reached that! If each fucking episode of ST had an outrageous budget of like 3something MILLION dollars....... don't u think u could. Chop it up a little bit. ? Each episode is literally already episodic. Plenty of places to cut and make a new episode. Is it because you're afraid of losing attention? Babes, i wouldn't have even watched the show if it hadn't been for an edit of the characters. Sure, maybe im in the minority. But like. God, this show is so fucking long. I've already watched 10 hrs of content for a TV show and you're asking me to spend 2:22 hrs more??????????? Bruh. Split that shit into at least 2 episodes. What.
- this is kinda at fandom, kinda at the d bros- I was led to believe Eddie was in this show waaaaay more than he actually is. He's. Hes barely in this show, and he's certainly not as interesting as im led to believe. Nor is Robin, but that's for another point. Well actually,
- the script does not do right by Robin and Eddie. I believe they are played by good actors! I have no reason to not believe that. Theyre putting their hearts into their jobs here, so props to Maya and Joe. But like. They have the weakest, most obviously quippy lines that simply aren't delivered well. Robin seems to be an afterthought even if a lot of her storyline is kinda spotlit. Honestly, thats the most well done part of her character, and I hate to say that, bc queer people are more than our love lifes or lack thereof! But the rest of her outside wanting to be with a girl is made to be this typical against the grain ~girl~ who doesn't like feminine clothes and can't walk in heels, etc. She feels like all the cliches of a typical anti-main girl and put lesbian on top as a cherry. It just feels weak and like a little over the top. To be clear, I'm not saying she shouldn't be a lesbian. Also, I understand that I wasn't around in the 80s, and I dont know what someone had to do to be obvious to other queers but not obvious to non-queers. But it feels like a disservice or not as well done as it could be. And Eddie... kinda has the same amalgamation of pile of labels. Metal head, dnd dm, guitarist, has charisma but will run at the first sign of danger, also a fan favorite of queer fans (possibly projecting). There's more to each of these characters, but it feels like they, with all this potential, max out the space theyre in and one of them (if theyre in the same scene) has to be chosen over the other. Its just a disservice. It really isn't even a surprise to me, as we close out episode 8, that Eddie doesn't matter ultimately to the story except to be a sacrifice. Theres not growth or development beyond him deciding to not run anymore. Joe's voice may be music, but the lines that seem most genuine to Eddie are improvised rather than written. Which is not !!!!! A!!!!! Good!!!! Sign!!! *sigh*. Anyway I think im done about them. They just feel like they take up as much space as they can and are still flat. They have lots of facets as interesting character with the potential to be more, but either the performances of the written script or the boundaries of it limit people I imagine could actually be pretty fucking good.
- maybe its because I never have, but like, my god, I dont care about the adults storyline. Since season 1, I have skipped nearly every scene for the adults, simply because I could not bother. Part of the reason I started s4 was for the actor of Anatov- I think this actor is neat and I've liked his other two characters I've seen (from Game of Thrones and Jack Ryan). So hearing that he was in s4 was cool, but since he's attached to Hopper's storyline, its hard to really give a shit. Also, his directing and line delivery hasn't been very great. His physical choices made... I feel like they are unrealistic? I just. I like him because I like the actor and I like that he isn't a total dick, but I also don't care to worry about Hopper's storyline, so I dont watch it much. When the stakes are low, I wish they weren't made out to be life or death when Hopper just needs to figure out his development without getting to do a lot of action, and you're golden, and dont need to watch any more. Sure, its neat, but I know that Hopper and Joyce and Murray are gonna be fine, so like.... whats the point. You're not making me care any more about these characters. Altho Murray is indeed funny as hell, God bless.
- I do love the music and score of this season. Its very in tuned with itself, it knows what stranger things sounds like. And so that remix of the Journey song at the end of episode 8 was 1000% a banger and so cool because already its a cinematic, iconic song, but then you mix it to fit better with your over-arching shows score and. God, it sounds so cool!!!!
- steve and Eddie's dynamic. Fandom does exaggerate their relationship a little bit, but not really in a way thats too far-reaching. I think, mostly, that the duffer bros were too scared or didn't even think to see it as queer, even if Joe was exuding charm from his pores and confirming with fans that he was being a little flirty. Now, of course, it may have partially been a lie to appease fans and audiences. But like also. I see where people are putting on their "I see gay" goggles. Maybe I pause the show too much to laugh or ramble frustratedly at the content, but its. Idk. Not really what I see.
Ultimately, I probably harmed my own viewing experience with my decision to see the show as like. Entertainment because its already bad, not really giving much room to be impressed or emotionally influenced. Or maybe I'm just feeling cynical today. Don't know. Either way, par for the course, im disappointed in a show I dont really care that much about. Is that more commentary on me, or culture saying "oh its popular you HAVE to watch it", or my falling into fomo or just wanting to watch something to feel anyrhing..... idk. Hopefully the finale is interesting. I'll probably watch most of it- even the adult storyline scenes.
But I dont have much hope or grace left for it.

Ten books i want to read in 2020
@fight-surrender tagged me - and in favourite characters (coming soon...)
1. The Case of the Drowned Pearl: A Murder Most Unladylike Mini-Mystery, by Robin Stevens - murder most unladylike is a great series about school girls who are golden-age detectives. this one is new and so i haven’t read it yet. i am looking forward to it, even though it isn’t about our heroes. i thought this was a series of books i was reading that wasn’t about gay people - but it turns out that daisy - our sherlock - is not ace, but in fact a lesbian. so if you, like me, like books about gay people - and also golden age detective agencies, and school stories - you should damn well read this series. speaking of which ...
2. murder most unladylike - unnamed book 9, by Robin Stevens. the final book! i am very sad (in advance - terrible things are rumoured to happen, but probably not - it’s for kids!) also because it’s the final book and that’s sad. but i love a good - planned - ending and think this will probably be one. robin stevens is a very fast writer. it’s out in August 2020.
3. There is a Light by @basic-banshee i wondered whether to put this here, because it feels a bit crawly, but! of course i am looking forward to this book. a lot. i even read the draft sent to betas already, but i’m excited to read the real one.
4. Queen of Nothing by Holly Black - how did i not know this has been out several months? i thought i’d pre-ordered it, but apparently not. anyway, this series has been so much more awesome than Holly Black’s other work. i totally love it. ENEMIES TO LOVERS
5. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater - i bought this a while ago because it’s all over my Tumblr (hello, if you’re one of the people posting about this!) but i have not yet got round to reading it. i will read ‘Queen of Nothing’ and ‘Drowned Pearl’ first, as well.
6. Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett - 2019 was the year i fell in love with pratchett properly (having previously read his books and thought him perfectly good. NO. he is a genius - i know that now). i love the watch and moist von lipwig - of course. and tiffany aching. i love granny weatherwax, but for some reason i don’t really get on with the proper witch books, so i haven’t been racing through them. Lords and Ladies is next.
7. Fence by Sarah Rees Brennan - i saw this on someone else’s list (@carryonsimoncarryonbaz for sure, but maybe someone else too) and i thought - oooh, i didn’t know this was coming out. gay fencing romcom from the writer who brought us ‘in other lands’. sign me up.
i also thought this was ‘fence’ by CS pascat (gay fencing, yes. captive prince - yes), but it isn’t. it’s a different book. i do want to read pascat’’s fence, but while i like art and writing, i find the graphic novel format hard to get into. it’s too quick. because i dont really look at the pictures...
also, although this is a minor point, i can’t read it on my kindle. i bought laura dean keeps breaking up with me off rainbow’s recommendation and even on the online kindle store, so filling my entire computer screen, it was still only just readable. that’s a book i should have bought in actual book form, but i read it in an hour. and i though it was fine, rather than great - so... i don’t really need it in my house. which means kindle was fine, i guess. but it really wasn’t.
8. Jane, Unlimited by Kristen Cashore - for ages it wasn’t on kindle, but i just went to check and it is now, so i bought it. two years ago (?) i read and loved kirsten cashore’s tamora-pierce-esque works (and then the fucked up weirdo conclusion, bitterblue. i loved that even more), this one i hear is a bit modernist and probably not for me, but i owe her my time.
9. Yes, No, Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed. this is another one i should have known was out, but didn’t. i think becky albertalli can be really great, although personally i found ‘what if it’s us’ extremely forgettable - even for me. this looks like it could be good - EVEN THOUGH it’s not gay.
10. ???
i have other books that i’ve bought but not read (lots of them), but i don’t really want to read them... or i could just list pratchett books, obviously, but that seems like a waste of time. i tend very much to read what i want to read at that precise moment and i have a terrible memory, so i re-read a lot. there’s nothing else that i’m thinking ‘i will definitely read that’. volume 3 and 4 of runaways maybe (but again - graphic novel). similarly i might read the manga for ‘reigen’ the spin-off to ‘mob psycho: 100′, but my brain particularly struggles with manga for obvious needs-to-be-trained reasons.
it was much more likely i’d read the rest of the howl books before i realised that ‘queen of nothing’ was out - but i might re-read some more DWJ.
tags: how many tags for this thing? idk. again - a lot of posts may be hiding the fact that you guys already did this meme, idk. at worst, you will get some probably good book recs out of this post. as long as you like gays, school stories, and/or YA romance.
@giishu @f-ing-ruthless-baz @agapi42 @shipaholic @alivealivealive @ruth-dw @bunn1cula @basic-banshee (i already tagged you above, but anyway) @parijpg @mageicalwishes @angelsfalling16 @thisbluespirit

stranger things 3 thots dont read this if u dont want spoiler
putting it under a read more because i know you bitches will yell at me if i dont
good things
dustin steve robin and erica’s part was my FAVORITE those four were fuckin KILLING IT and i LOVE THEM. ICONS!!!!!!!!! we stan lesbian ally steve harrington
LESBIAN ROBIN
GAY(???) WILL
this technically falls under lesbian robin but the scene where steve tells robin he likes her, and she gets this expression on her face and buries her head in her knees....like i FELT that i know EXACTLY what that emotion is. good on this show for an authentic lesbian experience that isn’t fucking tragic. and god bless steve for being nice he really is the only man
el was very good in this season i love her and max’s friendship montage with the best 80s outfits ive ever seen
this season was very colorful overall which i liked. like lots of fireworks and neon and shit
it was just very fun in general. a fun watch
SUPER happy they didn’t make me watch a billy/mrs wheeler subplot, which i thought they were gonna do while i was watching ep1. this isn’t really a Thing its the Absence Of A Thing but idc
the ending was really nice and i feel like it was a nice end to the series. i know theres prob gonna be a 4th season but if this was the end, that would be ok
i liked the flashbacks, like it wasn’t the MOST IN-DEPTH the show coulda gone into the trauma all the mains have endured because of the shit they’ve been through, but it’s acknowledging it. like all of these people are SO traumatized and its so tragic
it was campy but i LOVED the musical number with dustin and suzie....i needed that in my life
alexei was cool and i was sad when he died. he just liked woody woodpecker. hes my favorite war criminal
bad things
billy getting a hero’s death and a sort of redemption and a tragic backstory was all so fucking stupid. i’m supposed to feel sorry for this bitch????? i dont!!!!!!!! did we all forget that he’s racist and that he at the very least physically intimidated his little sister with threats of violence!!!!!!!!
nancy and johnathan were boring and stupid as usual
i did NOT like how they wrote hopper in this season. did he have such a temper in s1 and s2??? was he such an asshole then??? bc i dont remember it...
also i’m such a slut for joyce/hopper in general but in s3...it was bad. they were bickering and it was fucking stupid and that’s not the joyce/hopper i know. shut up
murray’s character trait of “you two should be quiet and make out already” is really really annoying as a character trait and i know i said it already but i would sock him in the jaw if he tried saying that to me in real life
the whole Evil Commies thing was dumb like what fucking year is it......don’t we have more important things to worry about in this country now than the red scare. and i KNOW this takes place in the 80s but i dont rly care cause it came out on july 4th 2019 so it was obviously trying to say something.
hopper’s death was very sad but also very dumb like WHY DIDNT HE JUST GO BACK INTO THE ROOM WITH JOYCE... AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE????
the first episode felt like a whole other show to me like it was trying to be a weird teen comedy instead of a supernatural mystery like it was fine but it didnt Fit and it just highlighted the ooc writing for some of the characters in this season, mostly hopper
the bad things list had more words bc i had more to say about the bad stuff but i didn’t DISLIKE this season, i liked it!!! it was just like half and half for me tho i think. its still fun to watch and i’d rewatch it if it was with friends or at a party or smth but overall those are my feelinges

Okay y’all so my gf is asleep next to me in bed and all I can think about is KE so time for a rant!!!
I think the people who are calling the show queer baiting 1) dont understand that term (obviously) and 2) didn’t read the article in the gay times. I don’t know exactly what Sandra was thinking when she made those comments, but I have some other thoughts.
1) Sandra didn’t say that any chance of romance was off the table, a reporter did. To say that any chance of romance is off the table ignores the explicit romance that has already happened. I’m sorry, but expensive gifts, phone sex, countless worried phone calls, and agreeing to escape together to Alaska doesn’t constitute “no romance”, and that shit has all already been aired.
2) Sandra did say in the interview that she knows that there is a questioning of sexuality within Eve. I interpret that statement as Sandra saying Eve is bicurious. As a lesbian person, I deeply believe that questioning of sexuality most often doesn’t happen without a romantic prompt, whether or not it is reciprocated. When I was 11 and madly in love with Emily Van Camp, that was romantic and a romance to me, even though Van Camp had never even heard of my existence. Eve’s newfound questioning is prompted by romantic inclination towards Villainelle, and, lucky for Eve, the romance is reciprocated in this instance. Sandra admitting that Eve is bicurious contradicts the notion that there is no romantic path between Eve and Villainelle, because AGAIN! We’ve already seen it happen.
3) the interview with Sandra was conducted over the phone between her in NYC and the Gay Times in the UK. Not only was the interviewer unable to see Sandra, there was a difference in dialect that could potentially cause misunderstandings on the part of the journalist about Sandra’s full intent with her words, or misunderstanding on Sandra’s part about what questions the journalist was asking. Miscommunications can happen. Things can be misquoted. Weird questions can be asked, and those questions are very rarely printed in the resulting article after the interview. The point of view presented by Sandra about Villaineve in this interview is a complete departure from canon, the books, and the most recent advertising campaign. As others have mentioned, Sandra said it, not the show creators, and we don’t know the circumstances under which she made that comment other than what I have listed above. I’m choosing to have compassion for this circumstance because of the sheer amount of information I don’t have about the interview.
4) the “trying to make this into something it just isn’t” comment is remarkably vague. We don’t know what “this” is supposed to be (though everyone has assumed it’s the relationship between Eve and Villainelle), and we don’t know what she thinks we’re making it into. Personally, I think Sandra Oh was likely referring to the idea of Villainelle and Eve being some domestic partnership that is all love and all rainbows all the time. Or potentially, Villainelle being some lovesick puppy that only thinks about Eve and never her own selfish desires and they will happily settle down once Eve accepts her love (a viewpoint I’ve seen repeatedly around the fandom by people who probably don’t understand a thing about socio/psychopaths). It’s even possible that Sandra meant that we’re making this into something it just isn’t right now (such as healthy committed girlfriends?), but will be in the future. The audience is not making “this” into a romance. The show is doing that. The books kinda did that. The fucking ad campaigns are doing that. If “you guys” are us, “this” is Villaineve, and “something it’s just not” is a romantic relationship, then Sandra’s never read her own scripts. She didn’t hear Villainelle confess her love at the end of the S2. She missed the masturbation comment in S1, and blacked out when they filmed the phone sex scene. That’s the only explanation I can fathom as to Sandra meaning what many have interpreted her comments to say. It just does not make sense to me for that to have been her intentions with her words.
5) I recently watched an interview with Jodie (I believe it was the one where she rewatched the S1 finale) and she mentioned in the interview that she knew a lot of people wanted Villaineve to smooch. She said they were trying to figure out “how close they would get” but that they knew it wouldn’t happen in the episode. I deduce a couple things from those comments. First, the show creators and actresses are highly aware of how the audience wants these two characters to interact (romantically) and are trying to tease us by giving little gifts of interaction at a time. Second, Villaineve will smooch eventually. Especially after watching this interview, I took a second to compare Villaineve to the other well written slow burn romances I’ve seen on TV. Jim and Pam didn’t get together until season 4. Neither did Damon and Elena. Do you remember Ted and Robin? I’m not even totally sure when they got together but I do remember that it took FOREVER. All the foundation stones of a romantic relationship were laid long ago, and the ending of season 2 was a step forward in their relationship towards being girlfriends or whatever the hell the audience wants them to be. Everything that happened was in character, and they took a huge step forward just as we’d expect in a season finale (Eve agreeing to go to Alaska and Villainelle admitting she loves Eve), but they also didn’t go all the way in head first because the storyline isn’t ready for that.
I think the S2 finale was excellent. I don’t think the show is queer baiting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wlw relationship written with the amount of careful consideration and thought as Villaineve is, and I’ve watched/read a lot of wlw love stories. I don’t know what Sandra meant, but I’m not allowing it to alter my love for this show.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. 😜

so stranger things 3 was..........................fine
billys redemption arc was great, idc how you feel about him that shot at the end of him with the mind flayer arms in his body was fucking dope. plus, for a redemption arc, what more can u ask of him to give like. he died
hop’s death is bs and i wont believe it. i cant believe hop is actually dead. i just dont trust it. no body, no death. fuck that.
couldve done with a LOT less “hur hur amurricans fightin the evil commies” tho. like that shit is so asinine. the whole 4th of july festival thing was so cringy. plus of course they made the russians all stone cold wooden ass bitches. like when the americans fucked this all up yall at least gave them some kind of personality, and i get wanting to show the whole red scare thing and shit but holy shit you did not have to swallow the boot, you couldve just stuck to licking it and it wouldve been bad enough. like you didnt have to go full on propaganda at some points. erica’s speech about capitalism? cringy as hell
so yeah the human villains were amongst the worst this season. alexi was funny as shit but of course they had to be like “look guys hes participating in capitalism now so you will feel bad if we kill him now cause obviously u wouldnt if we’d kept him a commie” like. im not even a communist, nor do i in any way think the soviet union was an ok thing, but holy shit the american patriotism was so goddamn cringy. do they realize they have non american watchers...
anyway the teenage stuff was also kinda bull. i just didnt care much about the pointless fights. i lost my fucking shit laughing when Hop was in the car after being the worst dad ever and singing along to Jim Crowe but oh my god, Hop you’re the worst fucking dad lmfao. a lot of the earlier drama was just unwarranted. Max is a weird bitch all of a sudden while being hella cool last season and a lot of like the first 2 eps had some Big Bang Theory level cringy “look at how stupid women are” humor. like. why. god i know y’all are romanticizing the 80s but this whole “hur hur teenage boys are dumb and teenage girls are mean” circlejerk needs to end. who hurt you, duffer brothers? please keep your angst out of your TV series, that entire Victim Boy Cant Understand Insane Teenage Girl, Very Sad mindset youre showing is sexist as hell. go to therapy. goddamn.
now that i think about it the only things i liked this season was the monsters and billy’s arc. OH and Steve and Robin but holy shit that is gonna be so much to unpack later. like. i can just see em going very very wrong with this. and i was rooting for them to get together as well but i KNOW they probably will next season and these two asshat writers will go all “well guess steve cured her of that lesbianism huh”. like they were so good together and its cool if shes gay but i KNOW they’re gonna fuck it up. coulda just made her bisexual, which i was rooting for in the first place, but i know theyre gonna pull a stunt like that next season and its gonna be, again, cringy as shit. shoulda made it clear this season if u dont want it to be looked at as some weird copout. and i say this as a bisexual. who loves bi rep.
season 1 and 2 were good, 2 less so with the drama between El and Max but season 3 kinda missed the ball for me. Amazing cast tho, like amazing. great acting, great camerawork, just...kinda bad writing

amy pond
general opinion: fall in a hole and die | don’t like them | eh | they’re fine I guess | like them! | love them | actual love of my life | ???????????? m….e???????????? | all rational responses were left behiind in 2011 | my actual Soulhotness level: get away from me | meh | neutral | theoretically hot but not my type | pretty hot | gorgeous! | 10/10 would bang | the most beautiful person ive ever met yes im reclaiming it fuck youhogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuffbest quality: WELL i got as far as this one and immediately switched tabs to procrastinate for like 20 minutes, anyway. i physically cannot answer this bc “everything” seems like a copout but, everything. everything. all of it. all of her. worst quality: i mean there is a self-destructive streak lmao there is absolutely a self-destructive streak but i am NOT GONNA CRY ABOUT IT so lets all just move onship them with:  …..okay it would be an OUTRAGEOUS LIE if i didnt say 11 here but like?
