@boschtoolsna, the model 1617evs did not come with a 3/8 collet, however, Bosch being the superior company that they are provided an accessory that includes the 3/8 collet! Enabling me to use an extended 3/8 straight but to dig those deep mortises; thereby making wick work of what used to take me much more time on the drill press, then more hammer and chisel work. I’ve not regretted for one second shelling out that extra dough for this router combo. I leave one base mounted on my table and use the plunge base for everything else. This happened in a big way yesterday, not ashamed to admit. Nothing seemed to go right, every encounter I had in public was negative. I fed the wrong wolf. I really needed to hear and tell myself this. Another quote that spoke to me was “there are people who would love to have your bad days”. Just wanted to touch on something real quick; I put these little quotes and sayings up every so often to not only maybe help someone else get some perspective, but for me!! This mortising jig is clearly something I should have made a long time ago....alas!!! It is made, and I am now, in the words of the immortal Will Smith, I’m “getting jiggy with it” . Seems to me the time involved in making even the simplest of jigs, greatly improves your precision, cuts down on time and waste, and improves the overall quality of the piece. Western Red Cedar Interior Dutch Door. Got the top and bottom pieces squared up, sanded, and first two coats of finish on them today.
