The whole kit'n kaboodle ...as it rolls on and on and on and on. Enjoy the egregiously named story and chapter titles of a convoluted fic straight outta the most convoluted brain this side of the Eufaula.

Hi!!!! I've been really enjoying your music recommendations! Do you have a list of artists you particularly recommend? I believe you introduced me to Pigeon Pit, so any specific recommendations similar to them would be great!
I hope you have a splendid day! <3
hiiii im glad you like them ^_^
in terms of a list of artists i particullarly reccomend like in, general- thats pretty easy to get carried away with. The Magnetic fields, the 6ths, Gaze, The Waitresses, Cub, Heavenly, Tiger Trap, Go Sailor, The High Water Marks, Belulah, Tullycraft, The Maybellines, Best Friends Forever, The Pastels, Peach Kelli Pop, Transmittens… those are just my most listened artists, i could go on forever and ever.
It’s kind of tough with Pigeon Pit, because they’re kind the only folk punk i listen to, so they’re an outlier. But I’ll first ask if you’ve heard Real Tree- theres one Ep, its just pigeon pit songs played in a different style. Secondly, you may be interested in an artist called Tinyfolk. I like this album posted on youtube.
youtube
its kind of a more playful cute thing, but in a similar spirt of lofi folky stuff made by a trans artist. I’m also gonna say that you may be interested in Six Cents and Natalie, Sean Tollefson’s solo project outside of Tullycraft.
Try this:
youtube
im not sure why it comes to mind but also, this track by poundsign.
youtube
im gonna be real this list is kinda free association so this may not all apply but also this album i found on bandcamp:
im not sure if thats anything to start you off, but good luck!

Throwback Thursday #46!- V/A- Pop American Style (March Records, 1996)
Tumblr media
By the mid-90’s the indie pop scene was bursting worldwide with new bands seemingly popping up everywhere, issuing new 7” singles every day. The American scene was no different with bands all over the place and compilations of all shapes and sizes (I even issued my own compilation, Popular World comp, on my very short-lived Sky Blue Records imprint in 2000).
Jack “Skippy” McFadden’s March Records label had been going for a few years by this point and he had released some truly fine stuff (that Holiday debut is still one of my faves) so he threw his hat in with a comp of his own. But this wasn’t just any old comp, this one was a 2-disc set (with K-Tel being an influence) of too many great songs to name, finding bands in just about every outpost of America.
The record starts with Shoestrings and their impossibly lovely “Summer Days” (they released a very fine sophomore album a few years ago on Shelflife) and then right into the Rocketship classic, “Hey Hey Girl” then onto the Cuddlecore (not my term) of Cub (with “Howard”) and on to the suave pop of the previously-mentioned Holiday with “It’s Only Love.”
40 songs spread out over two discs with more great cuts coming via Heartworms (a side project of Archie from Velocity Girls), Allen Clapp  his Orchestra, My Favorite (with the brilliant “Go Kid Go”) and Poundsign with the superb “Starry Night.”
Who else? further, Vehicle Flips, Holiday Flyer, Aberdeen, the Push Kings, Elf Power, Tullycraft and too many more. It really did seem like the comp to end all comps and I played it for days/months.
If you missed this the first time around then head on over to Discogs where you can find a copy for a very reasonable price
**side note- a few years later Skippy released Moshi Moshi: Pop International Style with a 2-cd compilation of bands, as the title suggests, from the USA and around the globe. Not quite the eye-opener that this comp was but still pretty damn good.

the sad news came out on wednesday that steve albini passed away from a heart attack on tuesday. rather than our normal show tonight on wlur, we're going to spend two hours tonight listening to just a small sample of the albums he recorded over his forty year career as a recording engineer. here's an excellent obituary from the atlantic (gift link that should give the full article for two weeks) that i would encourage you to read.
and as always, you can catch up with last week's show on mixcloud.
no love for ned on wlur – may 3rd, 2024 from 10pm-midnight

Los artistas y su increíble música. - https://wp.me/p4pCgM-4bz

Okay I decided that I have come here to not only act a fool in peace (& mak my tpyos in peace), but also to be vulnerable in peace as well.
Y u ask?
Bcuz the video above provides a lovely visual of how I sound when the time comes for me to be vulnerable, so I might as well start practicing, right? RIGHT

Galore- Blush EP (Paisley Shirt/ Safe Suburban Home)
Tumblr media
When (idiotic) folks say things like "There's no good music anymore…" i just smack them upside the head (with a shovel) and tell them to get with it.
Ok, so it's Nerf shovel, but still.
What I'm trying to say is the good music keeps on coming. Like this band, charming as hell with catchy songs that seem tailor made for me. I didn't think the Bay Area could top those late 90's/early 00's years when bands like Aislers Set, The Fairways, Poundsign and others ruled my world, but dang, this new and improved Bay Area keeps the hits coming.
These four folks, Griffin, Britta, Ava and Hannah are the ones creating these five melody-soaked tunes. The vocals are winsome, the guitars dance tightly, the rhythms tiptoe and that keyboard/organ chugs like it washed up on a San Francisco beach straight from Dunedin, NZ.
So do I love this? You're damn right I do…..check out "Jackpot," "Ladders," "New Living" and the other two like now.
Yup, now.
