Wonhee giggled as she kicked a little pebble towards you're shoe, making you turn around and pout at her kicking another pebble back she burst out into another fit of giggles, her knees bent under her as she almost fell from laughing too hard. "What are you even laughing about" you laughed softly trying you're best to hold her up. Her laughter died down a little "I..um...I don't know" she giggled gently poking you're side, in response you laughed holding her arm as y'all walked down the sidewalk getting closer to her dorm. She quickly let you in, going to her room seeing as most of the members were out in the city doing their own things.

Wonhee laid you're head on her lap as she fixed you're hair for you, admiring you're soft skin as she did so, you're eyes stared up at hers, admiring the look of affection in them "you're amazing y'know that?" You said softly reaching you're hand up to touch her cheek, she blushed swatting you're hand away "don't be weird" she giggled too shy to respond properly. In response you laughed softly sitting up properly "don't be shy, you're too cute to be shy" you teased poking all over her sides she burst out laughing trying to grab you're hands "stop!" She choked out through her laughter.

After awhile you both started to relax more, you gently puckered you're lips out making Wonhee's smile grow "Kiss?" I need to shout about this... In the Miracle tiktok where Taehyun is dancing while SoobKai film with ILLIT... I don't know if he's eating or chewing gum but it looks like he's chewing gum and why is it so attractive to me. "tyun?" you sit beside him slowly leaning in to give him a usual hug when you greet each other but he gave you a lazy side hug. damn. "been waiting long?"

"no."

that's all you get? he pockets his phone, palms against the grass as he leans back chewing his gum nonchalantly and looking at the busy field in front of you. there seems to be a group of high schoolers training for soccer.

"um, are we good?" you ask quietly, heart pounding in your chest and a little afraid for the first time in forever.

he hums, eyes focused on the ball being passed from player to player.

now that wasn't what you were expecting. well shit. taehyun's mad and you don't know if that's all he has to say about it.

"don't even try and think of some lame ass excuse because you know damn well I can tell when you're not telling me the truth." his voice assertive but his gaze on you softens, wanting you to be comfortable with him like you usually are.

after explaining as honestly as you could, the air was filled with a short silence between the both of you and distant shouting and birds flying by.

"I can be kinda cute too." taehyun grumbles under his breath and you swear it wasn't some sort of auditory hallucination. that is what you heard, right?

"hm?" you turn to him, tilting your head to the side waiting for him to hopefully repeat himself.

the train of thought in your discombobulated mind is disrupted by him calling your name, now in a softer tone.

the hope in taehyuns eyes disappears, feeling his heart sink to his stomach ready for your rejection. he nods.

HP hewlett packard

HP-branded corporations provide and operate technology that Israel uses to maintain its system of apartheid, occupation and settler colonialism over the Palestinian people. Hewlett Packard’s violations of Palestinian human rights have been well documented. Aside from providing services and technology to the Israeli army and police that maintain Israel’s illegal occupation and siege of Gaza, HP provides Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority with the exclusive Itanium servers for its Aviv System. This system enables the government to control and enforce its system of racial segregation and apartheid against Palestinian citizens of Israel, and is directly involved in Israel’s settler colonialism through its “Yesha database”, which compiles information on Israeli citizens in illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian West Bank.

HP has been described as the “Polaroid of our times”, a reference to huge mobilisations against the use of Polaroid technology by the South African apartheid regime for its racist passbook system. Polaroid’s 1977 withdrawal from South Africa marked a turning point in the international effort to end apartheid there.

HP-E is contracted by Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority to provide and maintain the Itanium servers that house Israel’s population registry through 2020. Known as the Aviv System, this population registry is the basis of Israel’s ID card system. This ID system forms a core part of the Israeli apartheid regime’s tiered system of citizenship and residency that privileges Israel’s Jewish population and gives inferior status and rights to Palestinians, especially those in East Jerusalem. This leads to institutionalised racial discrimination and segregation in freedom of movement, housing, employment, marriage, healthcare, education, and policing. In 2015, HP split into HP Inc.- which carried on the brand name and provides consumer hardware, and HP-E for business and government services. In such a scenario, the BDS National Committee maintains that: “The onus is on each company to demonstrate to the public that it is free of illegal and unethical business activities.” Further, despite multiple requests for clarification, both the new companies sharing and profiting from the HP brand are yet to provide unambiguous evidence to show that their business activities with Israel do not violate International Humanitarian Law and Palestinian Human Rights. HP has, in the past, held a contract with the Israeli Ministry of Defence under which it developed and maintained the Basel System- the biometric identification system installed on checkpoints in the occupied Palestinian Territory, controlling the mobility of Palestinians. It also worked with the Israeli military, helping build its IT infrastructure. This included a program with the Israeli Navy which enforces the illegal naval blockade on Gaza. For these and other past ties of complicity with Israel’s occupation, apartheid and settler-colonialism, HP-branded companies must provide reparations to the Palestinian victims of these crimes.

I was a bit surprised to see that mhj specifically said that newjeans had approved the statement saying that belift had copied newjeans' concept with illit. I'm not the type of person that thinks that you're a bitch for asserting position or your value, so this isn't where I'm coming from, but, especially in an industry where it's so rare to see groups say anything negative about other groups, particular junior groups I would think, it was quite the strong, swift position to take. Do you foresee newjeans continuing to engage publicly with this scandal, and how would you think taking an active part in this would affect their brand?

You've said you're pretty familar with the corporate side machinations - could Hybe be purposefully airing all this, sure to stick it to MHJ, but also to temporarily drive down stock prices for idk easy shares-repurchasing? Or even allowing a mess they can blame for having to report lower numbers to shareholders for whatever reason: boycott actually impacting profit, hedging against lower-than-predicted bts returning numbers, etc.

Or is this too convoluted of conspiracy thinking and BPD/HYBE/MHJ, and by extension from your recent posts basically 'corporate kpop' entire, are really just that transparent and petty?

Also this has given everyone (kpop stans, ARMYs, journalists) the go ahead to drag Newjeans in order to "defend" Illit, BTS, Riize, etc by throwing (again) dozens of plagiarism accusations and trying to discredit everything the group has done and achieved. I think these six asks capture most of the talking points in the asks I've received since yesterday, so I'll use these to answer your questions.

The sheer amount of spin happening in the media right now is ridiculous lmaoo. With the mention of BTS in the "escape files", ARMYs have predictably moved from shady bystanders to actively joining in the negative spin, spreading rumor articles and many are now attacking the girls themselves. But honestly, this is nothing less than what I expected. NewJeans is the most popular group in Korea, the 2nd most valuable IP only behind BTS, and Min Heejin is the brains behind the operation - an achievement she's insisted on taking full credit for since inception. Leaving the only option for whoever is masterminding this from within and outside HYBE, to destroy her reputation as an executive completely to diminish her value to outside investors, and weaken the fan support for NewJeans given how closely they are already associated with MHJ. And that's what is happening. It impacts every group at HYBE and nearly obliterates the viability of NewJeans.

For HYBE, it's a tolerable loss given there's only one year left before BTS returns and closes that earnings gap in mere months. Whoever took this action sees it simply as resulting in a numerical loss that can be soon corrected, but personally, I disagree, for the same reasons I objected to HYBE's acquisition of SM even though on paper it made numerical sense.

Anon in ask 1: I can understand your surprise but sad as it is to say, I expected that response from MHJ. She's a creative, not a PR exec or an MBA-credentialled suit. I'm not sure how familiar you are with ADOR's press releases in general, but anybody who reads them can tell there's almost no corporate doublespeak, no vague allusions, nothing that shows it's written by a typical media-trained PR person. Which is why most people, including you, take that statement to mean NewJeans agrees with MHJ that Illit copied them (it's a possibility), when in reality the language shows it could refer to them agreeing with MHJ's assertion that HYBE hasn't duly responded to her requests about inter-label discrimination, or other related matters. That's the kind of detail a trained PR person would be sure to include, to minimize the fallout to NJ, but just as with the press release on Cookie, the one on Minji's rival sasaeng, the response to Hyein's veneer rumours, and practically every press release ADOR has put out, the language is unsophisticated.

NewJeans has so far not engaged publicly with this scandal. MHJ has mentioned them to signal any separation between them will likely be contested. It's leverage. If they do take an active part in this scandal, it will completely destroy their brand. Like, it's already on life support. Anything more and we might as well say their last rites.

Anon in ask 2: I'd say that's not a conspiracy exactly but it is kinda pushing it. Anytime there's a stock dip it's a buying opportunity, and HYBE is always guaranteed to be a Buy so long as BTS is slated to return within 12 months of the stock event. But we simply don't have any clear indications that's the case now given the timing doesn't quite line up. If anything, that is more like the 4th order side-effect.

And yeah, people on the corporate side, not just in k-pop, are many times just that petty. But it's also true this case has been sensationalized in particular ways to appeal to k-pop stans specifically.

None of these options are good, but the worst of these evils is option 2. If the members attempt to leave with her, there's no pretty way to say this, but they'll be done. I'm not even going to waste time writing all the ways HYBE and k-pop stans as a whole will rip them to shreds, all I'll say is that whoever is attached to these girls should consider taking a 6 months sabbatical away from k-pop entirely once that news breaks. The law is not on their side and public opinion, especially after all the 'leaks' and spin from HYBE in the last 72 hours, certainly isn't on their side either. It would be career suicide.

Personally, I think yes. Every label at HYBE had similar initial monetary investment as NewJeans and ADOR had, and other groups from the Big 3 have had even bigger investments and resources at their disposal. There isn't a single group, both within HYBE and outside HYBE, that has yielded the same results as NewJeans in the same period of time. Illit comes close, but even with their achievements they haven't reached the same (positive) notoriety as NewJeans did at debut. All HYBE groups have access to HYBE's youtube channel, connections and resources, and yet the achievements of BOYNEXTDOOR, LE SSERAFIM, ENHYPEN, and even ILLIT, are nowhere near comparable to that of NewJeans. And I agree with MHJ that she's the primary reason why. Having access to resources is only one part of the equation. How you allocate those resources and what you do with it is far more important, and this is where MHJ and ADOR excels relative to other sub-labels.

NewJeans without MHJ will not be nearly as threatening to everyone else in k-pop, and I suspect this is one reason there have been calls for her to be removed from managing the group since their debut.

Anons in ask 3 & 6: Yeah there's a fair bit of greed on show here. Generally, for a lot of people in this industry, greed is good... unless the greedy person is a woman. Because the only thing more central to nasty corporate tussles like this, more than greed, is ego.

I'm not trying to play the gender card, but sometimes I do wonder why there are no articles like this about people like Jaden Jeong and Simon Jakob given the reputation those men have in corporate circles, where top officials (in this case, within HYBE) are saying they cannot possibly work with MHJ because she is "overly and excessively opinionated". I'm highlighting this article because despite the initial paragraphs of spin, that bit is the only thing consistent with MHJ's claim that this attack from HYBE started because she'd filed a whistleblowing report on toxic inter-label competition and followed up an email that said quote:

"..is this deliberate obtuseness and unapologetic behaviour consistent with HYBE's founding philosophy of rebelling against unfair practices in the entertainment industry?"

I mean... in corporate Korea, I can see how they were sick of her shit and it was only a matter of time before she got the boot.

The insidious thing about spin is that it mixes the truth with lies, making it easy for people to accept it wholly. It's entirely possible that MHJ wants more compensation, more autonomy and independence, feels that Belift and other companies borrowed her ideas without full credit, and that she was unsupported by HYBE HQ. It's entirely possible that she took actions such as monitoring fan feedback of the group(s) she suspects and filing a whistleblowing report to build a case - according to both MHJ and others at HYBE, these are complaints she's apparently had since last year, but none of those things would justify HYBE's response nor is it enough to turn people against her.

What I find particularly interesting about this case, is that everything that decisively incriminates her of the more sensational and sinister allegations, comes from the person of VP L or CEO A - a person who only joined ADOR in January 2024, shortly after which HYBE received their first tip-off that MHJ was planning to escape. It's VP L who titles documents with the equivalent of "TOP SECRET DO NOT TOUCH" on company computers... the same guy that's supposedly a double agent working in favour of MHJ and ADOR but is situated within ADOR, not HYBE, where simple logic shows he'd be most useful. Unless he's situated right where he's supposed to be.

Anyway...

HYBE has requested for a shareholder meeting on April 30th where they'll likely table the motion for MHJ to resign regardless of what's found in the audit. Far as I know, she's completed the audit questionnaire but not surrendered her laptop as HYBE has requested. Given the play is for HYBE to kick her out while continuing to manage NJ, I can see how she'd rather die than surrender her laptop and hand over her ideas (and potentially incriminating info) to HYBE on a silver platter for them to use in her wake.

Every way this shakes out is bad news for HYBE groups IMO. So long as NewJeans keeps quiet and sides with HYBE, they'll be somewhat okay. But regardless of the fallout from HYBE cannibalizing itself, all HYBE groups have no choice but to take it on the chin and bide their time until BTS comes back to capture the attention back to them.

I'm just as curious as you. I don't think I can predict hybe's next move and honestly I don't want to.

But I do know that I feel for new jeans and just to be harsh they come off as not being able to think for themselves. That live was 100% planned by mhj not them, the only people who believe they decided to do something Like that without being told to are people who want to believe that they're just a group of young girls going against a huge company.

People forget that this isn't about new jeans at all, it's about mhj and hybe but everyone wants it to be about them so bad so they have an excuse to support mhj. You can't say you want her back because it's what you want when she had to leave because of the weird stuff she did, this isn't about you.

Hanni said a manager of another group told the group members to ignore her and I think it is sad and it's understandable that she feels that way but in a scenario where the group is lesserafim or illit I can't bring myself to fully sympathise. Like what did you expect? Why should you be given what wasn't accorded those other girls. New jeans have been cozying it up with aespa and it's obvious it was to make a statement, stood beside mhj when she's responsible for almost ruining those groups.

It's so easy for us to feel sorry for them, but the affected groups and the people around them do not have to. New jeans are young girls but so are illit and lesserafim. So it's baffling how kpop stans can empathise with new jeans but can't even find the chance to say ",ok these other groups are affected as well". And then the real reason for their support becomes obvious.

New jeans get to lose armys support but at the end of the day they're going to come out the poor young heroes who went against a huge company, good for them. But what about the other groups who have been made a villain in their story? Who's image have taken a nosedive in sk?

I wish everyone from armys to kpop stans would just shut the fuck up because literally only a handful of them are saying anything sensible right now.

the whole hybe newjeans situation is so weird to see in the context of fans talking about it because I think anyone with a brain can see that being paid a $3 million salary, getting preferential housing, and the multitude of brand deals they have is hardly mistreatment from the company for a group. and if anything them potentially going with ador is a poor move business wise. it's hybe as a company that has the financial ability to not just pay their salaries but to pay for their comebacks and promotional materials and manufacturing albums and merch. ador is a subsidiary of hybe, they themselves would not have the same level of financial ability to do that as a separate, smaller company no longer attached to hybe. those resources won't go with them if they sever ties. not to mention ador would be in a sticky situation regarding its image after all this is settled, even if it turns out in mhj's favor her reputation is already smeared and a lot of people will be wary about working with her and by extension about working with newjeans. it's very very risky for them to position themselves at all in the situation rather than just continue with their contractual obligations neutrally and let the companies battle it out in court

and that's not even mentioning how inappropriate and odd it is for an adult woman to be so emotionally dependent on four teenage girls. they aren't therapists, she should be seeing a professional rather than using them as emotional crutches because it puts them in a situation where they potentially feel responsible for a grown ass adults wellbeing and that could potentially explain why they've taken a stance with mhj without seeing the risk they're taking by doing so. they handed hybe reason to disband them on a silver platter so they theoretically could just dissolve the group if the risk outweighs the benefit of keeping them around for hybe as a business

truly I don't think it's hybe that's hurting the girls image rn it's mhj and her intense emotional entanglement with them.

and the illit stuff is a weird distraction, if hybe owns both groups how does it make sense for them to sow discord between them? a business that depends on these groups to make money is not going to sabotage them right out of the gate especially after they've already invested money in training and debuting them the entire point is to recoup that investment as well as make a profit outside that. they are a business so what matters to them is the bottom line and this fan created scenario of hybe villainously sabotaging both illit and newjeans makes zero sense in that perspective. why risk having to dissolve two groups and eat the cost of training, debuting, and maintaining them with nothing to show for it but a negative profit? the hand movements people are pointing to as this damning evidence of dance move plagiarism is silly, that movement has been used by multiple groups in choreography atp. and the girls' group aesthetics are different, modern y2k vs dreamcore. the similarities begin and end at minimalistic hair and makeup, it's just been blown out of proportion by diehard stans who take it as a personal insult that another group of girls would debut with neutral looks and an easy listening sound

HYBE and Min Hee Jin Round 2...

HYBE has released some damning info about ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. They accuse her and her team of creating an exit plan to go independent.

There were two plans that ADOR executives had for the company to get out from under HYBE, which the audit team discovered. Either they would sell the company to sovereign wealth funds or they would form a separate company around NewJeans after cancelling their contracts. ADOR confirmed those plans existed, but that they were not official plans, just personal "musings" - which nobody is believing. Part of that plan was to claim that HYBE had mistreated NewJeans and to cancel their contract with them on that basis, and it would be important to get the members to go along with this. Apparently the whole "ILLIT were plagiarising NewJeans" was part of this plan. The only other scenario presented was essentially to pay the buy-out fee for NewJeans. x

I don't know how Min Hee Jin is going to get out of this mess. The trust between her and HYBE is completely broken - the law is not in her favor and fans are angry at the bad-mouthing of other groups (ILLIT, BTS, TWS, RIIZE). A lot of money is on the line, so I don't expect a quick outcome.
