Fun Fact Friday How sweet is this antique? It resides in our living room with a flickering light to give the appearance that it is working. I acquired it a few years ago in Craigmyle. The Perfection Stoves were created just before the first world war, and lasted until the 1950’s. These nifty looking stoves ran on kerosene, and were light weight, compared to the heavy cast iron and steel made stoves. It was a convenience to easily move it from one room to another. How cozy would this be in the bathroom while taking a bath or in your bedroom while curled up in a chair with a good book. I imagine the problem with this antique would be being able to afford the kerosene that went into it for burning for long periods of time. Imagine Abigail using such a stove like this in her bedroom to keep warm while writing letters to Jacob. arved Alabaster Horse on stand, Rajasthan circa 1720; originally this piece would have been elaborately painted. It was recovered from a sunken ship after about 200 years on the sea floor. I love antiques, I love history, I love everything about vintage! So I have a lot of antiques as you can imagine! And why have an antique if you can’t use them, right? I have these two (and many others) Blue Ribbon Jars which I use for... wait for it... COFFEE! 😂 one has the original lid and the other does not. The small one is from 1933 and the large one, I am not too sure but from what I researched, I believe is from the 1940’s. (If anyone knows, please let me know!)
