I was working on a couple concepts for fics and came up with this idea, I'm also missing being at uni so... yeah .

Robert E.O. Speedwagon is 100% a business major. He probably has a minor in finance as well, or maybe a double major? He didn't make a fortune without the education on how to grow an empire or how to manage it. He's also probably in a major exclusive frat, something like alpha kappa psi (fraternity open to business students) or beta alpha psi (international honors society for finance students). Socially, he's a designated driver, and he's always got your back. If you're at a party, you can trust your drink with him.

Caesar Zeppeli would be an archaeology major with a minor in either a fine art or history. He's mature and knows he needs to major in something semi-practical, but doesn't want to leave behind the things he holds dear. perhaps im projecting. He's an overachiever, just does about everything he can, and he's popular. If he's studying in an English speaking country, he's taking part in Italian club. He's probably in some kind of social frat leadership position as well. Despite all these responsibilities and booming social life, he's on top of his grades, and is always on the dean's list. At parties, he's social and flirty per usual, but needs a few drinks to get going, in which he can be a bit grouchy or easy to rile up.

Kakyoin Noriaki is difficult for me to decide on, I can absolutely see him being something like a computer science major, as he loves video games and his smarts. But I could also see him being the other side of the coin, doing something like anthropology or cultural studies. I'm not going to lie, he has an ego about how smart he is. or at least he acts like it, overconfidence to overcompensate for insecurity, perhaps? He's in some kind of major exclusive fraternity or honors society for his major, granted reluctantly, but he knows he needs the connections. Do not be fooled by his somewhat nerdy appearance or profile, he's a hoot at parties, but don't expect him to go to one without at least a friend there.

Okuyasu Nijimura will switch his major every month up until his advisor stops him. Wherever he lands, he lands and he takes it and runs. Oh an he is absolutely in the marching band (more on that at a later date). Academically, he's at okay standing, not entirely because of lack of smarts but lack of turning in work regularly. Okuyasu isn't in any greek organizations however he hangs around people who are so much, he's at almost every event. He's a great time and the life of the party, with or without a couple drinks.

Pannacotta Fugo, is a double major 100%. Majoring in statistics and political science, plus a minor in psychology, and pre-law, this man is stacked. For the sake of this headcanon, lets pretend he entered college at a standard age. He absolutely took every AP/A Level he could and has his Associate's and at least 30 credits by his entry. He's in honors societies for both of his majors no doubt, and he's a tutor. Is he a good tutor? Yes and no, he has questionable methods, but has the best pass rate of any tutor, professor or student, in his whole university. You won't find him at any kind of party, and if you do oh boy is he not happy about it, but he'll still drive those close to him home.

Ermes Costello is going to be also somewhere in the field of law, due to her strong sense of justice. Perhaps criminal justice/criminology ironically. You can find her hanging out with friends from intramural sports (I'm getting soccer?) and maybe a cultural club. She's in a coed service frat, perhaps alpha phi omega. She's at a lot of parties and she hosts a lot too when she can, and she's got your back. You can trust her to hold your drink, and defend you from whatever dumb person won't leave you alone.

OK anon im so sorry this is so long and so convuluted I actually got so carried away jdbKJBGKSDBGH. i'm not even sure i properly answered your question i just got overwhelmed with Love for my same-sex schooling DHGKJSDFBHG anyway, if there's anything more you want to know lmk and I will try to be concise next time 💀

Essentially, my own experience at a single-sex secondary school was fantastic—however, I know my experience isn’t universal, especially since my school was a little bit different to most, I think.

That being said, I still think that sending your daughters to female-only secondary schools is something every parent should strive to do if they can. No other learning environment will ever be as good for girls as a same-sex school.

In terms of school staff, mine was about 95% female, and 5% male. The few male teachers we had were genuinely competent men and decent teachers, they were also watched like hawks. Our principal was female, all leadership positions in the school (such as House Leaders, Year Level Co-Ordinators, Department Heads, even the chaplain) were held by women. Our school psychologists, our nurses, our library technicians, our café ladies, our career advisors, our tutors—all were women. Our school houses (think like Harry Potter houses) were named after important women in our country’s history.

I went to a co-ed primary school. And whilst at twelve you might not have the words to describe it, graduating from a co-ed space, into an all-female space is really a giant weight off of your shoulders. You don’t realise how suffocating co-education is until you’re no longer having to bear it. It feels so much more natural, so much more free! You are welcomed as you are. You can be loud and unashamed of it. We joked frequently with each other and our teachers, laughed loudly and cared not whether our laughs were ‘ugly’. I found that teachers were far more supportive than they were in my co-ed school. For example, in a co-ed school I had been told frequently to ‘pipe down’ or to ‘reel it in’ from teachers, and more vexingly to ‘shut up’ from boys due to my boisterous personality. In high school? My teachers encouraged me to audition for the play because I had ‘great projection’. In every school programme (more on those later) that I was involved in, I was the one asked to give speeches about them at assembly. I was asked to be the lead of our house chants during our sports festivals. I was asked to join the debate team because of my passionate nature, which in primary school, had me known as ‘difficult’.

Likewise, I had a friend who was by nature quiet, and loved to draw. In primary school she’d doodled on the back of a work booklet, and when her teacher returned it, she’d taken off two points and had written a comment saying something about teachers in high school not accepting work that was drawn on.

Do you know what happened when she got to high school? Our English teacher had seen the eye she’d drawn on the back of our Romeo and Juliet test and had written, ‘beautiful!’ above it. The next test, she drew a two-headed cat with witches’ hats on both heads (I remember the left head was called Turpentine and the right head was called Esmeralda). Our teacher wrote, ‘wonderful!’ above it, with a smiley face.

The next day she got an email from our art teacher that had a PDF flyer of information on both in-school and local art competitions.

Anyway, she had questions and that teacher answered every single one of them. She also personally helped her select the works she wanted to submit. She ended up having two pieces shown in the school gallery, along forty pieces made by other girls. About five years later for our final year, on that art teacher’s recommendation (and tutelage!) she took all of the visual art subjects on offer. When she graduated, her final piece was shown at a public exhibition in our state’s capital city, that honoured the best pieces done by select graduating students in the state.

So yeah. Our teachers were pretty amazing. Of course, there was the odd teacher or two you would butt heads with but that’s just a universal school experience. Our humanities classes, like history, for example, often had a unit that would focus on the female experience of a certain time period. For example, when learning about WW2, we did projects on female resistance fighters et cetera.

We had health classes that were actually focused on female health. We learnt about female anatomy (even the clitoris! Though we were all about thirteen/fourteen at this time so we found it incredibly awkward to talk about), as well as symptoms of PCOS during our menstrual unit. We learnt about contraceptive methods and devices (however, as a Catholic school they did have to tell us that whilst these methods are available, the church-sanctioned method is of course, abstinence).

Whilst the majority of the girls shaved their legs and wore makeup, as someone who did neither of those things I rarely felt judgement about it (albeit, I think there was a little for my lack of makeup, but this only lasted the first two years). A good portion of our staff also did not wear makeup, I don’t recall this ever being commented on. And, by the time we’d reached about our third year, a good portion of my year level and the ones above did not wear makeup on a daily basis. Leg hair was not looked down upon by any of us I don’t think by this year either. In fact, if you were particularly hairy often your hairless friends asked to rub your legs!

We were never short of female role-models, our staff made sure of that. We had multiple days per year when guest speakers would come and talk to us, mostly these were women who were experts in their fields—whether that be neuroscience or computer science, linguistics and literature or mathematics, politics, et cetera. The only times we really had male guest speakers was when police officers (one male one female) came to give us an assembly about sexual peer-pressure and laws around sharing nudes that was basically, “these are common (male) manipulation tactics used to pressure you into doing something you don’t want to do, don’t fall for them”.

We were encouraged to take STEM subjects, and those of us that had taken interest in computer programming were sent to coding programmes in the city during school hours! That’s how keen our teachers were to get more women into the field! This was the same with the girls interested in politics, who got to go to Model UN events, as well as mock parliaments in the country’s capitol.

We had a lot of programmes generally. A few overseas ones for girls who were in LOTE (languages other than English) classes. A few interstate ones, too. And of course, local programmes and excursions. Most of them (aside from the LOTE ones which focused on immersion) were volunteer programmes aimed at helping women and girls. The rest were about furthering our own skills or learning new ones. Majority of these were year-level based, but a few depended on the clubs/groups/classes you were in. For example, I was part of the Writer’s Club, and we took an excursion to the state Writer’s Festival and listened to female writers as well as feminist panels. We also had self-defence programmes every year.

In terms of peers I generally found everyone to be quite amiable by the time we’d reached our third/fourth year. There’s a common myth about all girls schools being filled with ‘catty’ girls who are constantly bitching about one another, but I really did not find that to ring true. There were a few fights and arguments in the earlier years, I was part of quite a lot lol but that’s honestly… just something that happens at school, at any school. Largely, we were good to each other. If someone was crying there was always someone who’d ask her what was wrong. If you missed the notes on the slide, there was always a girl willing to share her notes with you.

I think going to an all-girl’s school, and not having that much interaction with the opposite sex generally for that six-year period truly does something, I think, to your psyche. We are socialised to look down on our fellow woman, socialised to look down upon ourselves. But actually being constantly surrounded by women, and almost ONLY women, really helps to undo that. Even now I could not describe the fierce love I have for all those women and girls I came in contact with during my time there—even the ones I bickered with. Each and every single woman I met there enriched my life in some way or another. I think that is the effect of consistently spending time in any female-only space: developing a true appreciation for women. It is the only reasonable conclusion to come to.

I have been out of high school for two years, and in university for one. Among the many men I have met since, none of them have even been able to hold a candle to the any women and girls I know.

Anyway. TLDR: it slapped, send your daughters to same-sex schools!!

any advice on choosing an undergraduate major? where i live you have to pick one as you send in the application (like while in high school and you choose one major to be accepted for and you can't apply to pick among multiple i hate this system) and i want to do art but am worried i'll regret it and my mom is really pushing for something practical like political science (she really wants me to become a politician for some reason) and you seem knowledgeable

ok to preface this is coming from someone who comes from a very underprivileged background and is at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder. i approach choosing a major extremely pragmatically. if you can’t make a living off your passion, don’t major in it. do your best to find something that incorporates things that interest you/topics you’re naturally good at that can get you a decent job once you graduate. if you are in a position where art can get you a good job or you have a decent cushion to fall on if you cant get a job, go for it! if not, i say look into programs and compare graduation rates, how many students get jobs once they graduate that program, average salary, average job satisfaction, if you need a grad degree, etc. and pick a field that best plays to your strengths while offering you a stable future. idk what the school system is like where you are so this might not apply but it’s always an option to take filler courses or minor in art! that’s what im doing lol minoring in a STEM field that I enjoy and incorporates things that overlap my interests and minoring in english bc english degrees pay you DUST

Hi there! Have you seen the college AU asks? This one is pretty detailed about what kind of students they are, and this one is more succinct with their majors/minors! But I’m always happy to go more in-depth about AUs! 😉

In my imagination, Blade, Trouble, and Chase were suite-mates freshman year and get an apartment together when they’re not living on campus. (Halek, Red, and Riel are also roommates and then Riel can’t stand living in a dorm anymore so he buys a townhome with his family’s money and allows Halek and Red to live there to give himself some semblance of a social life.)

Blade is the scion of a very wealthy family who’s expected to take over the family business one day. Instead he majors in Criminal Justice and--in my imagination--secretly aims to become either a detective or a prosecutor because he suspects his family is involved with criminal organizations. He’s generally quiet, solemn, broody, and troubled (just like in the game lol) and is only dragged out to do “normal” college things by Trouble and Chase’s persistence! He’s in the fencing club and also goes to a mixed martial arts gym off-campus, sometimes with Trouble, which also happens to be the one Briony goes to. 

Trouble is in ROTC and majors in mechanical engineering, with dreams of joining the Air Force and becoming a pilot after graduation if he can keep his grades up. For some reason I have this idea that he got into this university on a soccer scholarship? He plays guitar and later gets a dog because fuck it, he’s always wanted one, and he’s rebuilding an old motorcycle in his spare time at this garage where his old school friends work. He definitely wears bomber jackets and letterman jackets like, a lot. He’s very popular and considered a “jock,” but a friendly one! He has an English class with Red and a math class with Riel, going to both of their study groups and then driving them crazy because he either doodles instead of studying or texts. Part-time, I feel like he delivers pizzas for some reason...

Chase is the third part of their trio and is more lax about his studies than the other two (which is a bad influence on Trouble). He does not talk at all about his family or home life and generally spends the holidays with either Blade or Trouble’s families. He’s an undeclared major and has no idea what he wants to do after college and is not worrying about it. He pays smart kids to do his homework for him, so he has an excellent GPA, much to the class president’s (Riel) fury. He’s part of a frat but doesn’t actually drink at parties, more concerned that everyone’s having a good time and making fun memories than he is about himself. He doesn’t allow any scummy behavior in the frat and secretly, on a whim, auditioned for a student play and is surprisingly very into it, to the point where he asks Briony and Trouble for help with his lines. After throwing a huge party where [x] happens, he starts a group chat with everybody involved in this story and it’s sort of how they all become friends, even though many of them already knew each other individually. Oh, and he’s very into Tinder, much to the chagrin of his other two roommates.

I think Briony, Ayla, and Lavinet are also roommates, and so are Shery, Tallys, and Mimir. Briony-Ayla-Lavinet’s place (BAL? Brionaylavi?) is Party Central, whereas Shery-Tallys-Mimir’s place (STM? Shallir?) is Quiet Coffee-Drinking Art Loft Sometimes Hipster Slam Poetry Book Clubs Central. 

Briony is either a journalism student or a law student, I can’t really decide. She takes a lot of extracurriculars at their university as a way to blow off steam, including a painting class (which is where she met Shery) and a horseback riding class, because why not? She has been training at the same mixed martial arts gym since she was a teenager, and she starts bringing Ayla and Lavinet there so they can defend themselves when they’re not altogether. Despite her cheerful attitude and popularity around campus, she seems to be running from a past back in her hometown that she doesn’t talk to anyone about, not even her closest friends: an obsessive ex and a dark past are just some of the things she doesn’t want catching up to her. Sometimes she earns part-time money covering shifts at the cafe Shery works at. 

Ayla is a journalism/communications student who will later switch majors to hospitality and hate it. She gives wilderness tours and white-water-rafting tours in the summers as a seasonal job and plays volleyball on the university team during the spring seasons and track and field during the fall. Her grades are abysmal and she goes to the tutoring center often for help, which is how she meets Red and Riel. She rides a Vespa around town and also attends the yoga class that Tallys teaches. Yes she wears leather jackets and occasionally beanies. She was too cheap to a buy a meal plan at the university cafeteria so she often skims from others or uses their extra meals before the week runs out. She is a lover of junk food and crams their apartment pantry with all manner of chips, soda, ramen, packaged mac and cheese, and etc! She also definitely games. 

Lavinet is a wealthy socialite daughter of the CEO and founder of a huge conglomerate: think a Paris Hilton, but more grounded. She’s majoring in business and political science, being groomed to take over her father’s role, but she wants a taste of “normal” life before that happens. All of her rich friends from high school thinks she’s slumming it with the other kids, but Lavinet’s having the time of her life. She tries not to stand out too much, but she unconsciously does, anyway: wearing designer coats and sunglasses to class, driving a flashy convertible, and keeping her books in a high-end handbag, because backpacks are “schlubby.” She means well but can sometimes be a bit of a drama queen to her roommates. She also loves juicy gossip and eats it up! She has been known to take her roommates’ phones and flirt for them with potential dates. She has a popular vlog and Instagram account, which I imagine is how Briony’s dark past catches up to her. She loves to get coffee at the shop that Shery and sometimes Briony work at and always seems to have a latte in her hand. She can point at any given person and name what lipstick they would be if they were one. She’s fairly good at her studies and loves to be in charge of study groups and gets into a war with another girl who tries to ‘poach’ her study partners. She absolutely takes French and fashion design classes and heads all over campus turn when she walks past!

Red, Riel, and Halek live in what is known as the “Nerd House.” Red is pretty much always at coffee shops and libraries, studying and reading, so much so that he doesn’t notice multiple other students checking him out in his rolled-up sweater sleeves and messenger bag. He’s got a bit of an “Academic Hipster” vibe and definitely has hipster tastes in music and books. He goes to poetry readings at cafes (of which Mimir is a staple) and goes on a lot of first dates that don’t lead anywhere, giving him the reputation of either a really picky person or a playboy. Does he wear glasses? Absolutely. Is it because he needs them? Probably not. On some subconscious level he is probably aware that he looks smart and cute in them. Sometimes he plays pickup soccer with Trouble’s practice team (he played in high school) when he realizes he’s been sitting around too long reading and needs to get some blood pumping! He studies philosophy and history as a double-major. 

Riel is the class president and later valedictorian of their class. He majors in math, business and finance, history, and psychology as one of the university’s only “quadruple majors”. He comes from an extremely wealthy family that has donated so much money to the school that many of the buildings have his last name on them. Occasionally he volunteers at the tutoring center, where his worst and most rebellious student is Ayla, who he vows to break. You can often find him in the music building, reserving one of the practice rooms to play beautiful classical piano, which he doesn’t like to play at home with his roommates around. He abhors eating or studying outside because, mysteriously, every time he walks through the quad, a frisbee hits him in the head. He is the head of a business fraternity that is constantly being pranked by Chase’s frat. 

Halek initially attended their university as a Food Science major, but dropped out and now attends the culinary arts institute across the street. (His twin brother, Naolin, goes to a prestigious university across the country and is studying to become a doctor.) He works as a barista at the cafe where Shery and sometimes Briony work as servers: the one with sleepy eyes that you end up spilling your life story to when you sit at the counter to drink your frappe and study. Plays the drums in a band that performs at open-mic nights and owns a tank of fish. In class he was constantly falling asleep at his desk but has no trouble now. Definitely smokes weed in his room occasionally and has a litany of tattoos up and down his forearms and hands (and for that matter, Ayla does too).

Finally, the Art Loft trio, Tallys, Shery, and Mimir, who definitely have a garden on their roof and hang their clothes up to dry in the sun up there, which Lavinet for whatever reason refers to as their “solarium.”

Tallys is a plant biology major who aims to be recruited into the country’s top holistic/nature-based pharmaceutical company. She teaches yoga outside of class to make money (and Ayla and sometimes Lavinet attend her morning classes). For whatever reason I feel like she smokes and looks really freaking cool doing it but decides to quit after a relative has a cancer scare. She enjoys classical music and plays the violin when she can. She is shares cooking duties with Shery and picks her up from her job at the cafe so she doesn’t have to walk home at night, leading many to mistakenly assume they’re girlfriends. She constantly has AirPods/earphones in, listening to music, and rarely speaks to others outside of class. Strangely, she owns a flip phone and owns no social media. 

Shery is a nursing student who loves to cook and bake as a hobby. She’s a natural introvert and prefers to stay in with her roommates, watching TV while she embroiders, or something, but one day she decides she wants to be more social and that’s how she befriends Halek and Briony. She owns a cat who rules the roost in their apartment as well as a hamster. She keeps detailed diaries and also writes poetry, but is too shy to share it with anyone, including Mimir, her roommate who’s an art major. She always wears pastels and very cute clothing and is a straight-A student. Her parents are pretty stingy so she works at a coffee shop, the Haven, as a way to earn money. She’s also helping with costume design for Chase’s play and rides a bike to campus and to work. She’s close with her professors and often visits them during office hours just to chat.

Mimir is an art student who’s making a big splash in the local scene, as she’s regarded as something of a young genius for her bizarre slam poetry and cryptic, surrealistic paintings. She often does readings at the Haven coffee shop during open-mic nights, and she constantly wears a hoodie, even to class. She paints her nails black and rocks that goth artist aesthetic, complete with dark eye makeup and black lipstick. She rarely speaks, but when she does, it’s usually to say something startlingly-insightful or incredibly mysterious. She feeds birds in the main quad on campus, to the point where they recognize her and will fly to her hand. She smells constantly of incense and can sometimes be seen rummaging around in trash cans on campus for her art installations. There is a mysterious cloaked figure on campus who rides a unicycle while blowing on bagpipes that also spew fire that everyone thinks is her, and she only smiles and fades away when anyone asks.

it  was  something  of  a  shock  to  her  parents  that  she  wanted  to  attend  college  in  the  states  ,  but  her  parents  were  not  the  ones  to  tell  her  no  .  so  ,  nina  went  on  to  be  accepted  into  holloway  ,  and  she  majors  in  business  economics  with  a  political  science  minor  !  i’d  say  that  she’s  involved  in  a  lot  of  student  organizations  like  student  government  ,  and  she’s  a  member  of  the  tennis  team  !  as  nuts  as  it  sounds  ,  she’s  on  the  tennis  team  for  the  cute  outfits  ,  but  she  loves  the  sport  as  well  .

alexa  ,  play  ‘  i  don’t  care  ’  by  ariana  grande  !  she  doesn’t  care  about  what  other  people  have  to  say  or  how  people  feel  about  her  ,  especially  considering  how  shameless  she  can  be  in  most  of  her  actions  .  she’s  ridiculously  blunt  ,  but  really  hates  when  people  are  bitchy  for  no  reason  ?  i  don’t  know  ,  a  paradox  considering  that  she  can  be  bitchy  for  no  reason  too  FKNDSFUDS  .  responds  heavily  to  the  energy  that  she’s  given  .  fully  believes  that  the  sun  and  moon  determines  her  mood  for  the  day  .

she  already  knows  that  graduate  school  is  in  her  future  ,  but  she  hasn’t  decided  on  where  she  wants  to  go  yet  .

nina  resides  in  farrow  house  ,  and  she’s  probably  the  worst  kind  of  roommate  there  is  considering  how  type  a  she  can  be  at  times  .  her  room  (  or  side  of  the  room  i’m  not  sure  of  the  setup  )  is  relatively  organized  at  all  times  .  she’s  a  lover  of  white  ,  but  white  with  color  ,  so  she  keeps  the  tones  light  with  soft  shades  of  pink  scattered  throughout  !  she  likes  a  gold  accent  ,  and  everything  has  its  own  place  .

doesn’t  like  to  leave  her  bedroom  without  making  her  bed  or  picking  things  up  .  at  night  she  may  just  slip  out  of  her  clothes  and  go  to  bed  ,  but  she’s  definitely  going  to  pick  it  up  that  next  morning  ,  even  her  walk  of  shame  clothes  KNJFDISF  .  

despite  her  behavior  at  times  ,  nina  is  someone  who  studies  hard  because  she  doesn’t  like  anything  less  than  an  A  .  although  i  will  say  that  she  obsesses  over  her  grades  ,  but  she  knows  that  if  she  slacks  then  she’ll  get  slacker  grades  .

Mmmm part of the pain of being an edelgard/claude shipper is that its not possible in canon... if we start changing their circumstances though...

part 1 would start freshman year of university. Edelgard has her 1 year plan, her 5 year plan, and her 10 year plan all set. Dorothea's taking a break from her singing career to get a business degree. Claude is undeclared but at the rate he's racking up credits... I can't decide Edelgard's major its either business, law and societies, criminal justice, or engineering. Honestly edelgard reminds me of the chem majors I've met. They're all crazy (in the fact that they chose chem). Caspar thought he wanted to do criminal justice but he ended up in business like all the other frat bros. Or maybe he dropped out to be a vigilante or something. A good chunk of the cast start off undeclared. Linhardt's a bio major because I need at least 1 bio major. I can't see him graduating though so maybe he drops out and goes on a roadtrip on caspars motorcycle. Imagine Edelgard bullying him into taking the mcat! Claude's an international student but he's got citizenship from his mom. Maybe they meet during that one mandatory english class. And an unlikely friendship begins~! (Where's hubert? I don't like him so he doesn't exist jk he’s probably doing whatever would best support edelgard’s career path). I was thinking this goes until like junior year when edelgard manages to convince claude to go to law school with her. This is the longest part. Claude's room gradually fills with textbooks. Edelgard learns to be open to new opportunities like an internship she never considered. friendship yay!

Part two would be law school getting their Masters or JDs with both of them working for campaign teams. This would be where the romance begins. maybe. Edelgard been so focused on her career path there hasn't been room for romance. And claude's demi aro and ace. Mmm i want to capture that feeling of displacement. In canon despite feeling it is a place he must escape from. Claude to some degree thinks of almyra as home. But after so many years, where is home? That liminal space of belonging in the claude-shamir support. edelgard and claude are both emotionally closed off in their own ways. Edelgard has a cold exterior and a passionate heart. she has one massive unbreakable wall where the only way in is when she pities the fool who’s been begging entrance at her doorstep for the last 900 days and opens the door for him. Claude’s like an onions, ten thousand paper screens of defection and emotional shielding, he’s friendly but beneath that he’s shrewd and calculating, and beneath that he’s insecure and beneath that he’s got the same hopeful idealism that edelgard does. Both are closed off in their own ways. Claude is probably the first to strike up an acquaintanceship, but edelgard is probably the one to take initiative, reach across the gap and bring true emotional intimacy to their relationship. she the one to usually push their relationship forward in general, probably just loses patience with claude’s waffling and thinking himself into knots and does it.

Part 3 is their adult career lives as edelgard navigates the public justice system and starts her political career and claude return to almyra works a few years and maybe ends up in the UN or WHO (putting that environmental science minor to use). Long distance relationships hehe which probably isn’t a big a barrier for them as it is for some other couples given that their relationship was always more on an emotional and intellectual level than a physical one. im not sure they ever have sex, maybe they do maybe they don’t. Edelgard probably sticks to a couple careers in her lifetime as a politician and a lawyer, but i can see claude jumping career tracks every 5-10 years. like he works for WHO coordinating environmental health then jumps to the UN immigration rights then founds a nonprofit ngo on like cultural exchange of scientific ideas or something and runs that for a few years until he feels its successful before he’s off to the next thing. I think they’d both enjoy traveling, but especially claude.

first of all, hey how u doin i’m ashley! 19 years old coming from the gmt timezone i am situated in ireland, just finished my first year of uni (i am an english major! unfortunately) and i’m so excited to write with all of you so without further ado from me here’s xahlia!

born in manchester she was always seen as an eccentric oddball growing up, didn’t have many friends growing up bc she scared most of them away by only wanting to talk about spooky ghost stories and aliens

always had a strained relationship with her parents as they wanted her to fit in more

she became very interested in politics and activism in her later teen years, this came very apparent when she argued with her fathers boss who had come for dinner about his companys unethical practices around employee welfare in their factories- this embarrassed her parents so much so that they kicked her out shortly after.

dreaming of being a politican she went to study political science in uni in london, she had student loans to cover the cost of her course and accomodation however she was really struggling for money as a result of not having her parents to provide any financial support her

to get money for herself, xahlia would go to casinos at the weekend to try and con the more wealthy patrons out of their money. while some of this was simply done through her skill at the poker table, xahlia also engaged in other practices that were less ‘fair-game’ such as pick pocketing 

it wasn’t until her second year of her degree that xahlia got caught out one night after an already suspicious security guard caught her red handed trying to steal a man’s wallet

xahlia was set to face a year in prison for her actions until jamie stepped in, having seen her skills at the casino table he offered to pull some strings and have xahlia’s prison sentence reduced to a mere fine if she wished to join the 47s.

xahlia eagerly accepted his offer, however her actions still had repercussions as despite not being sentenced to serve time, the trial had still led her university to expel her from her degree in order to avoid bad press.

this crushed her as she realised her dreams of becoming a fierce politician were tarnished as she couldn’t finish her degree, and with her crime already being public record nobody would take her seriously in politics she felt.

instead now she pours her passion into her work in the 47′s, working hard and smart and oftentimes ruthlessly she quickly made her way up to become captain of the gambling crew, and her hopes don’t stop there.

while she enjoyed a friendly relationship with jamie and was always grateful for how he saved her, xahlia is excited by his death; as a power struggle might benefit her goal of hoping to reach higher in the ranks of the 47′s

so like tl’dr and basic personality sum-up; very narcissistic and egotistical, fails to see herself in the wrong ever, power hungry and very political type minded if that makes sense? she manipulative, but also a nerd since childhood and will burn your muses ear off with conspiracy theories aaand a big fan of raves and edm music <3

y’know the one thing I hated while I was doing my arts degree, and still hate after having graduated from it, is the condescending statement/belief from people that “oh why didn’t you just do a more useful degree like maths or science???? and not your useless bullshit mickey mouse arts degree, which was never intended to give anyone jobs outside of teaching, anyway!” or some other horrendous bullshit, such as: “why didn’t you just stay with communication & media studies and complete the marketing & PR major???? you would’ve had a job after all of the unpaid internships you do throughout the course!” or whatever. (media and communications is abbreviated to m&cs further down in this post, just an fyi).

but, meredith. do you know that even people with science & maths degrees struggle to find meaningful work that’s related to their degrees? do you know that some of those people will turn to teaching anyway just because they feel like there’s nothing else that they can do??? do you know that some people (mainly me and probably quite a few others) just can’t handle maths past like idk year 6 level??? I would’ve been completely and utterly fucked if I even tried to set foot in first year uni science or maths subjects. even though some of the content did interest me.... (also there’s the fact that my handwriting wasn’t good enough for diagrams etc etc in maths & science- but that’s a whole other topic not for this post).

like I had to totally skip out of psychology/sociology and even the PR major, bc they required you to do statistics subjects.... where no matter what level of study I would’ve/could’ve done for those subjects, i would’ve still failed them spectacularly because my mind really struggles with processing and working with numbers. but that’s besides the point.

hey earl, do you know some people simply do not suit particular fields of “real world” or “practical” study areas like business subjects? trust me. I tried that one sem of marketing 101 and intro to management/ business communications in first year. and you know what I found? that my mind just could not take the complete and utter dryness of the content of marketing theory and, again, numbers. and that’s despite the earnest encouragement of my tutor, who thought I had a knack for marketing. i literally almost fucking died in that business communications subject... even though the lecturer seemed to like me as well. but as i thought further ahead into my degree in comms & media, i dreaded it. I absolutely fucking dreaded it. the PR stuff sounded as equally dry & boring (besides the point that every project was group work lmao) and so did upper level marketing subs in advertising/marketing strategy/various fields of marketing etc etc. i couldn’t stomach that lmao. and besides the point, the analysing of media just bored the fuck out of me too, for some reason. I just didn’t like the subject. hell, even my advanced diploma in marketing from business college was a fucking hard slog for me.

but when i sat in my english, philosophy, (kind sorta) history and -further down the track- creative writing subjects.... I fucking loved them. I was writing like I’d always wanted to. okay yes I did get pretty dismal marks in most of my philosophy and english exams or assignments. but I don’t fucking care. I was there doing what my mind was built for. if id tried another business subject, like intro to economics or even gone back to redo that “intro to management”/“business communications” (or whatever it was called) as an elective/as electives, i probably would’ve dropped out of either of them in the first 2 weeks. whenever i read those subject descriptions, they literally put me to sleep.

also, for the media and comms point. do you know that there’s loads of media & comms students that don’t get jobs because there’s just such a HUGE intake of students in those courses??? do you know that that the most popualr field in that degree stream (at least when I started that degree at my local home uni in 2015) was journalism & professional writing??? where literally EVERYONE was aiming to be a journalist????

I was one of the very, very few people when I began in media and comms, to outwardly say that she was there to do marketing or maybe the marketing & PR double major.... and everyone looked at me as if I was insane. “why don’t you want to be a journalist? I think journalism is so cool and that I’m more likely to get a job in that than you are in marketing or PR. you actually engage with real people in journalism and do meaningful stuff with the community!” was one of the utterly dumb responses I sometimes got from people in that course, when I told them the above. but you know what kelsey, or, trent? neither one or any of us are “more likely” to get jobs in media & comms... when you’re both competing against people with “proper” straight journalism degrees who might have more media experience than you- if you didn’t do an internship or do some uni newsroom/magazine or whatever.... or maybe more streamlined (if that’s the right word) media &comms degrees.... as well as generally competing against each other, in the same field, for the fucking same exact jobs. while im competing against commerce students doing marketing and PR and people doing the PR & marketing major in m&cs.

also in relation to the above, doing multiple unpaid or even severely underpaid internships in journalism, or even marketing, probably won’t fucking secure your chance of getting a bloody job, adam. just shut the fuck up. those internships may have helped you. but they most likely won’t help most people, theresa. because there’s only a tiny freakin chance that the place that they worked for will actually give them a guranteed job at the end of their internship’s timeframe or at the end of their whole degree. it’s a fucking scam lmao.

and plus, (not to be as rude as you were to me).... but why the FUCK would you want to go into journalism.... when it’s been debased so fucking much by media outlets like buzzfeed; writing nothing but clickbait bullshit listicles.... and is polluted by internet virality.... so much so, that more than half of the people my course had the career goal of being a viral youtuber or an instagram influencer???? like i’m sorry. this is a dumb asf course, no matter the field you’ve chosen to study.... and there’s no way that a single one of you will be a successful viral youtuber or an instagram influencer???? what on fucking earth led you to believe that????

like no offence. but there’ll only be a lucky, lucky, lucky few who get to be the next jennamarbles, ray william johnson, pewdiepie, lily singh, tanya hennessy, jeffree star, james charles, etc etc.... or hell, even friendlyjordies (if you want some satire & politics). and for instagrammers.... idek know them. someone list some instagrammers lmao. but my point still stands.

being an influencer or youtuber- both with huge followings- is a fucking pipe dream- as much as me being a hugely successful author is. it only goes to the insanely lucky, lucky few who have the right connections and the right digital savviness/finesse to grow to be uber successful.... or who started super early, before it was even considered a job title (like jenna mourey/marbles and ray william johnson listed above, and several others not listed who have big fan followings on here) and eventually grew to be the first original titans of the youtuber job title.

or again, they already have some type of other successful media career (like tanya hennessy is an aussie radio announcer. jeffree star had a short lived myspace music career in the late 000s mostly, and made cameos in emo music videos and LA ink at the time also, for example) so that they can successfully fund their youtube channels and/or instagrams as side projects or whatever, as part of their media portfolio.... and they also know how to engage and grow follower bases etc. because they already have an existing one. so it’s twice as easy for them.

tbh i actually entered the m&cs course bc of my use of this hellsite and all the weird trends it had and stuff.... but I eventually got over that as I realised that I just did NOT fit into that field of study. I realised I was too shy... and I also just hated the fact that I had to learn how to use twitter and wordpress and probably eventually snapchat & instagram 😂

i had also gotten sick of follower counts and “growing a following”- considering that by 2015, I’d hit over 3,000 followers on here, I think.... and I realised just what energy and time it took to build this blog.... and my followers.... that I just didn’t have the energy to expend on other platforms for the same thing lmao. like it seemed like more wasted time. I was tired. in addition to that, i also realised that i didn’t want to waste my whole fucking career on the internet worrying over a business’s/company’s multiple corporate social media channel follower counts and image etc.... when i’d done enough of that for myself on this hellsite lmao. doing that stuff with other students in the m&cs course seemed fake asf, especially when it came to giving feedback comments etc lol.

but do you know that one place where you don’t have to give a flying fuck about followers, post views/comments, and blog views? philosophy and english. lmao 😅. no one gives a fuck what you say. unless, of course, you have the evidence and the force of argument to back your pov up. that’s what I was about and am still about. I loved reading and analysing the many books I had to read (contrary to the complaint posts that I made on here lmao)- whereas learning about media and who owned what and how media is manufactured- just made my brain freeze. and although I didn’t do my readings in philosophy (lmao)- i enjoyed a good bulk of the content I had and the issues it involved. doing media & journalism subjects in the m&cs degree, on the other hand, terrified me, bc it meant I had to get in front of a camera and speak- which also scared me bc i look & sound terrible on camera lmao 😂. but I didn’t have to do that almost throughout the entirety of my arts degree (im obvs not counting class presentations in this lol). but do you get my point???

and also the teaching comment. don’t get me wrong, i know a good bunch of people go into teaching after their arts degrees... including many of my friends; and a load of the people I was in my arts degree with. but that is mainly because with other degrees like journalism or media & comms or whatever other fields that they overload into uni arts departments- have taken our job titles away, in a sense....

so, then you’re practically forced to either go into teaching, or go into something outside of your expertise; like idek human resources management/a MBA via a masters.... or, again into something like librarianship via postgrad study- so, that for the love of fucking god- you have a job title to whack next to your name-!!!-instead of just “arts graduate” or “english major” or “philosopher” that all mean fuck all. and that’s because those labels sound vague, unhelpful, undefined and useless; as that’s opposed to something like “teacher” or “librarian” or even “information specialist”. all those titles/labels sound defined, and have actual useful concrete skills: like coding, database creation and maitenance & information retrieval (amongst other things), for a librarian/an information specialist, for example. these skills are then translated into something that you can physically demonstrate to people.... unlike with philosophy and english where people perceive that it’s just “all in your head” and “doesn’t produce anything worthwhile” bc of your very obvious skills that everyone has of communication and writing. like idk. anyway.

Hey there. I’m a new college student, and I’ve been reading your posts for a while. Im curious to ask what your advice is for me. As an incoming college student what is the best major to study, in your opinion? (What majors make the most money?) also is joining a sorority or fraternity worth it in terms of making connections?

Major in a discipline that is a reasonable compromise between something you don’t mind and something that has career prospects.  I’m not saying no English degree because if you are good at technical writing then non-profits will hire you to write grants or contractors looking to score a big contract with the government.  As long as you can apply your educaton and skills toward the field or business and work hard at it, then you’re on a good path.

Don’t “follow your passion” because nothing kills hobbies and passions quicker than turning it into a career.

Many hiring managers want college graduates with years of internship experience than the guy with a 4.0 GPA who never set foot in the business before.  So get experience: volunteer, part time jobs, summer internships and work your ass off and never be late.  Even if you are not getting paid, treat it like your job. If you don’t know something, don’t be afraid to ask. Do not misintrepret this to mean grades are not important, they are, keep your GPA at 3.0 and above.  Balance is very important, and if you can’t achieve it in school, you’re likely to have problems with it afterwards.

Joining a sorority or fraternity can help, yes, in the area of “doing something” because the only people I know that didn’t succeed in college and post- college are the ones that played video games all day.  You got to do something, throw my advice out the window and study weekends after weekends for 4.0 and make tons of money as a doctor, or maximized friendships at the expense of the top grades and make connections in industry, or follow passions into double major, at least you’re doing something.

Declare a minor because it could help you change careers later on.

If you are offered a job, take it. Then keep looking for a better one.  The grunt job that you feel is wasting your time could have a boss that will give you a good recommendation.  I had a friend who started out in the kitchen and ended up being a manager in the marketing department for the whole company.  Don’t think the service industry is beneath you.

So all that said, here is my recommedation for subjects worth majoring in:

Computer science and machine

Statistics

Math (theoretical or applied)

Physics 

Chemistry 

Biology (for medical reasons)

Information technology

Engineering (chemical or automotive or computer or electric or aerospace)

Subjects I do not recommend majoring but taking classes would be helpful:

Writing

Since you mention major that makes the most money, then eliminate the majors whose field doesn’t have favorable job market and a good starting salary after graduation, and those majors are:

Social work

Philosophy

Journalism

Communications

Area studies (e.g., Black Studies, LGBTQ studies, Women’s Studies, Peace Studies)

If you throw everything here out the window it won’t hurt my feelings.  You’re you and you do you.

Tsubaki comes from a prestigious family within the Archimede.s Ward, patrons of the arts with close ties to the church of onoma --- often hosting the church’s numerous charity events as well as the family’s own.

Graduated top of her class in high school, and was a member of the student council. 

Attends Spirale University with a double major in history and political science; she tutors in both subjects, as well as english/literature, so if you need help hit her up !! 

Like most of her family, she’s begun to make her mark on the world early. She’s renowned for her singing voice and has even managed to perform at the Spiral Dome once already !  It wasn’t sold out or anything, but it still counts ! Tsubaki’s also known for acting and sparring within the Theatre of Calliope. 

She paints too, but mostly as a hobby --- she doesn’t consider herself talented enough to turn a profit with them. She sells herself short a lot, don’t tell anybody.

She’s a very large presence in the social sphere, and is often considered the “face” of the Yayoi family; she has a hand in planning the majority of their events.

The problem, however, is she has no idea what she wants to do with her life. It’s always been understood that she’d take over her father’s responsibilities as a philanthropist/political & social influence, but Tsubaki wants to have a much more active role in making others’ lives better. She aspires to work closely with the law and/or government, but she hasn’t quite figured out how yet... 

Also she’s a huge history nerd and hopeless romantic, but you didn’t hear that from me

my bachelor's was a triple major degree in communicative english, political science and economics and now i'll be doing my masters in creative writing and publishing!

yeah so the variant is sort of causing problems but also all these regulations are helping me a bit somehow?? so now they aren't issuing tourist visas and only student mobility will be allowed so that'll help cut down my travel costs by a lot! and i'm fully vaccinated so i'll be much more safer and cautious as well. apparently they're giving booster doses in the UK so i'll see how that goes once i go there but honestly at this point i just want to land in the UK once and even if the classes go online i'll be fine with it because i've been stuck here in this weird monotonous state for a long time and i just need to like do something!! i'm hoping things go alright 😭

MCHANZO AU WHERE MCREE IS A STUDENT LIVING IN JAPAN BECAUSE HE CAN GET A SCHOLARSHIP THERE TO LEARN WHATEVER WITH HIS RuDEMENTSRY JAPANESE!

Okay so Mcree gets a scholarship to this university in Tokyo with a group from the Overwatch international community college because the boy is a quick learner and took like a year or two of Japanese and can do okay in formal dilect but is kind of struggling with using casual (its the same thing for me even though ive been doing Japanese for four years now). So he’s going to be in Japan for the next five years (one to get a solid grip on Japanese and the other four to get a master’s in teaching/ history (he’s a history buff, tho he’s also game for being a spanish/english/japanese teacher)). And let’s say he’s Twenty for simplicites sake, which puts Hanzo at 21 and Genji at 18. (Also warning in advance, I overuse paranthese.)

In the program he gets into, he gets a host family. In his case, he gets the Shimada clan as his host family. Why does the Shimada do it? Probbly tax evasion, i dont know how rich crime synidates works and i dont really want to find out via irl experiences. 

Hanzo is closest in age to Mcree, so  he’s get put in charge of how Mccree get’s to uni, how he gets lunch, and tries to make sure that he doesnt bring shame to the family name. They find out very quickly that they go to the same University, though for diffrent majors (Mccree in Teaching/history and Hanzo in bussiness/mathmatics). At first he keeps Mccree at Arms length and is always civil though curt at times, but then he learns more about Mccree and starts getting a crush on him which leaves him flustered as hell but eventually he tries his hardest to flirt with him which both works and doesnt at the same time. He has the mentally of the golden child and the “i cant be the scape goat mentality”.

Genji is fresh out of high school and is hitting the rebellious phase full throttle. His hair is a diffrent color each month, he has peircings (probbly clip on/magnet ear rings at first because yeah... japan has stigma against actual peircings and while genji might be a yakuza, he’s a bit of baby), and gets a non-yakuza related tatto every month divisable by 3. (If you think thats child play and are a rebellious american teen, remeber that these thinks are considered pretty taboo. when i was at a very liberal school, my host sister still had clip on earings). He’s both the delinquent who is almost never at school, is asleep when he is there, and parties all night and the straight a student who gets good grades on all the hw and tests. Always compared to his brother. He constantly teaches Mccree cuss words and tries to get him to teach him Spanish cuss words. He acts like a hotshot/hot mess at first but later he reveals that he’s got a heart of gold in there somewhere. He constantly gives Hanzo shit about his crush on Mccree and does the same to Mccree. He’s not sure what he wants to do with his life, but he doesnt want to follow his familes footsteps. He’s also a big gaming nerd.

I should probbly talk about Jesse since I’m doing very deep bits about Genji and Hanzo. Let me just say that Mccree is smart. Thats a fact. He’s got a better than average grasp on mechanics (from hotwiring cars in his youth, fixing his prothestic with minor things, making a motorcycle with Gabe when he was older, and learning a bit more once he realized that there a sometimes Omnics who dont get the help they need), he’s so well trained with a gun that it’s not really a joke anymore when he calls it dead eye, can take apart a gun in seconds, knows how to ride a horse, can cook pretty well, and stealthy as hell when he needs to be. And he’s at least bilingual. These might come as a surpise to those who think he’s just a cowpoke because he doesnt boast much. He was part of deadlock until he was 15, when Deadlock was broken up by the san fran police. He got adopted by Gabriel reyes and Jack Morrison and has an adopted sister who went by Sombra for a year before they finally found out that her name was Olivia.

So we have Mccree thrust into a new family drama which he takes in stride and tries to help where he can. He acts polite and doesnt “disrespect the clan” (he’s speaking formal japanese almost 25/8, quickly learning how to use Kego (the highest form of japnese which reserved for extremely higher ups like company presidents, priniples, gods, and probbly yakuza bosses), correcting any cultural accidents, ect), he tries to make sure that Hanzo gets more friends/and is able to leave his shell (introduces Hanzo to the rest of his group (which consists of Miora, Mei, Zenyatta, Widowmaker, and Mercy who are both in running start), acts competive with him, pesters Hanzo to act childish), he tries to get both brothers some help mentaly/emotionally (at first he tries getting them therapy, but relizes they dont know how bad their mental health is so he has to struggle to give them enough support that they can help themselves but somtimes he had to have interventions with them), and acts like a mentor figure to Genji (encourages his indivually, gives him advice when he needs it, encourages him to seek diffrent routes that the one he’s been given, calmly defends Genji’s choices to his family/the elders).

If i ended up writing this, it would be a hell of a slow burn and have a slight crossover with a comic i really like, Sakana because i remeber I went to the big Fishmarket on my first day in Tokyo. So i guess they would go to the fish market fairly often and interact with Jiro, Taro, and Yuudai. The Shimada bros probbly have some history with Taro because obviously has Yakuza ties. Yuudai is very passive agressive with Mccree but is very Gay about Hanzo. jiro is an anxious man.

Ships that i would probbly include would problly be: Mchanzo, One-sided Gency (from Genj because I dont really enjoy the ship but he probbly whould have a crush when he was younger), Moira/Mercy (when Mercy is like 20 or something and its temprary because that seems like a thing that would end in a year after all the ust and shit stops fueling their realtionship), Genyatta (originally part of the Give-Genji-a-support-system plan that Mccree had but Genji fell hard, either way it worked), Reaper76 (really fucking background because i like them pre-exploding lol), Chie/Jiro, Yuudai/Taisei
