Growing up in Florida snow wasnt a thing you saw every year like other states, rain was the closing thing you were going to get. But in Boston it just seems it never stops snowing. I quickly made my way on to the elevator once the door closed i pratically threw my puffer off and straightened my skirt and fixed my white top. The meeting was over and i was currently waiting for my boss to call me into his office. his assitant came out and pointed to his door signaling that he was ready for me. Having now owned 2 different VWAG products allows me to have taken a different prospective on the differences that occur over time with automotive technology and production methods. My last Volkswagen was a 2010 Jetta Wolfsburg edition, it had the 2.0TSI engine paired to a 6 speed manual, and for whatever reason I got it into my head that it was “Just like a GTI” and “this is just as good.” I was also unable to find a MK6 GTI that ticked the boxes and was within’ my price range, so “that’ll do.”

Four years of my life, completely wasted behind the wheel of a Jetta; I couldn’t be more wrong. Yes, the Mk5 Jetta and Golf were based on the same platform, and yes my Jetta had the same handling package and anti-roll bars as its Mk5 GTI cousin, but it just never felt like a “performance” car, it felt more like my girlfriend’s Honda with a turbocharged engine nailed under the hood, with some leather garnished through the interior, actually it wasn’t leather, it was “V-tex”, and it was terrible.

Im being a bit not fair, I did like my Jetta, I liked the torque it made, I liked how spacious it was for a car in the “compact” segment. It always felt more premium than all of its rivals in a similar price point, and at this time there were no direct competitors. In 2010 there was no American or Japanese Sedan/hatchback that made 200 horsepower and had a 6 speed manual gearbox, yes the Civic SI was close, but it also was more expensive on the used market, and wasn’t quite as comfortable either.

But something just never was right about the Jetta, it suffered from an identity crisis. It had tons of power under the hood, but an electronic throttle that made rev match downshifting damned near impossible because of terrible input delay. The turbocharger never quite gave me the “shove” that one would expect from a turbo 4 pot, even though it had a smooth and linear power band, and the upgraded suspension that came with the Wolfsburg edition package just made the car ride worse, and didn’t seem to improve body roll or handling much over a standard Jetta. Sure it was great on the expressway, got excellent fuel economy (I once topped off at 36 MPG), but it just didn’t quite feel special enough.

An opportunity popped up to buy an old pick up truck for next to nothing as a light restoration project, so I leaped on it. Once the truck was running the Jetta got tucked away in the garage, and forgotten about. My 25 year old Ford Ranger became my daily driver, and it was exactly what I expected it to be, slow and lazy with an awesome stereo system and a 15 second 0-60 time, I drove it for a year with anticipation of selling it and seeing if I got my money back from purchase and repairs, and I did.

Now that I have had some time with my recently acquired GTI, I can say I have found some interesting differences in quality and design that sets it apart from my old Jetta. It most definitely feels like a better car in every respect; its newer. But I have found cost cutting measures; and in places that I least expected. Crawling under the car reveals a stamped steel subframe assembly, it looks nearly identical to the subframe found in my Jetta, except in the Jetta it was made of cast Aluminum. The oil pan is made of a composite material, and the drain plug screw is made of the same composite and requires replacement frequently to keep oil leaks from occurring.

The battery box is made from a fabric, rather than a hard plastic material, and the oil filter previously was a whole steel cartridge unit that would screw off and a new one screwed on, but now its a plastic housing with a paper element filter inside; I’m actually thankful for this, this makes replacing the filter much less expensive, but it is cost cutting none the less. Then comes the really unexpected bit; the interior quality. Yes the interior on the GTI looks and feels nicer than my old Mk5 Jetta, but its not as well put together. Day one and I was finding all kinds of annoy rattles with door panels and speakers, it made enjoying my music nearly impossible because the drivers door rattled so badly I just kept the volume low, or the rear plastic trim on the passenger side at the back seat the wasn’t fully clipped into place causing an annoying ticking sound over bumps. Thankfully I knew how to fix all of these problems with general tricks, using wedges and rubber/foam adhesive pieces I was able to track down and solve all of the vibrations, but the fact still remains; this car wasn’t put together as nicely as my Jetta was. Yes, I know it was used, but so was my Jetta, and both of these cars had nearly identical mileage, and were nearly identical ages.

On to a controversial component of the car; the Soundaktor on the GTI. Now, I know I’m going to get some pushback on this, but I really like this feature. Newer cars are much quieter than cars of the past, and driving a manual car is best done by listening to the engine, rather than having your eyes glued to a tachometer. With the GTI in “normal” driving mode, the engine is exactly that; nearly dead silent in day to day laid back driving, but if you turn to Sport mode, the Soundaktor makes a loud and audible grumble behind the dashboard all of the time, it makes shifting gears easier, and removes some of that refinement that was put in place by engineers to make the car more pleasant day to day. I like a good exhaust note as much as the next guy, but having the option of turning that off and on at will is a game changer, it actually made driving easier for me.

Lastly; the most like-able thing about the GTI is something I never expected to encounter; community. You see, with my previous Volkswagen, I never experienced this. Even after modifying it with wheels, and a lip kit, and custom headlights, I never got any sense of community, other car people never gave it a 2nd glance. It was great in a regard where nobody ever noticed it, but also never really made the car stand out. In the past 2 months I have had GTI, GLI, and VW fans alike giving me a friendly wave, peace sign or smile whenever we encounter each other. Everybody likes the GTI, everybody sees it and knows what it is, even if its styling is more conservative than the other hot hatchbacks currently offered.

Despite all of these nuances, the MK7 is leaps and bounds better than its older cousins. It seems that Volkswagen has figured out a comfortable balance in cost cutting without really ruining the experience to the driver. It still looks and feels just as premium as before, and suffers from virtually none of the drawbacks of what a cheap hot hatchback was back in the 90s. It is composed, comfortable, quiet, economical, and the complete opposite at the press of a button.

10/10 would buy again.

Been thinking about an au, that i now kind of wished that happened, in warriors..

In this au Crowpaw's mentor is Onewhisker (important for later). During the journey Crowpaw is stuck, Feathertail is about to jump out when her brother makes the leap before she could finally understanding and accepting his sisters relationship with a cat form another clan, since he fell inlove with a cat form the tribes and fell in lines with them as if he was ment to be there all along. The last thing he says to Crowpaw is to take good care of his sister, and to his sister an apology for not understanding sooner.

The journay continues with the 4 chosen cats and fast forward to the territories. Crowpaw takes the name Crowstorm in honor of Stormfur. All cats go back to there clans as the new drama starts. Feathertail is going to have Crowstorm's kits as he is dealing with Onestar's bad attuited to clan friendships... During all this Feathertail is given the Blood will spill blood prophecy to tell to Mothwing and finds out her medicine cat does not believe in starclan. Fearing how her clan will turn out with a cat who is deaf to starclan Feathertail leaves Riverclan soon after to join Windclan with Crowstorm. Crowstorm isnt ashamed or afride as he stands up to his leader admitting his disloyalty to his clan with a cat who he had been brought so close with to save the clans as a whole... Reminding all of them that they still had to work as a whole to survive. Onestar is impressed by the young warriors boldness, something he never had when he had his own affair (coughs darktail setup coughs) and allows Feathertail to join Windclan. Also Onestar started to be slightly friendlier to the other clans. Ending with Hawkfrost being killed by Brambleclaw since Leafpool would of also gotten the blood will spill blood prophecy but neither medicine cat could figure out what it ment (which resulted in Firestar loosing one of his lives). Ashfur is forgiven, but an eye is kepted on him. While the 3 kits with the power of the stars in there paws are born in Windclan, shifting the focus to a new clan.

Thb i havnt read beyond the 2nd series and my memory is kind of hazy about what happened in the 2nd series (im currently rereading it), but as i was listening to it they really seemed to set up for stormfur to die which i guess makes a nice twist in the book series but given the complaints i see pop up later i think that this probably would of set up everything a lot better and finally get the books out of thunderclan and focused on another.

One thing i had remebered was Firestar seeming forced in the 2nd series as they brought the focus right back to thunderclan after making 6 cats the heros of the series and then went back to 'oh yeah and heres are actual hero'.. just good job guys good job.

2019 Season 2 APAC Recaps

It was all cheers and shouts when Daniel Kwan hit the game-ending shot that not only won him the match, but also his school’s second APAC table tennis title in a row. “It was a great relief since everyone was stressed from losing a doubles match that was very close and was pretty thrown off their game,” said Kwan. “I was pretty stressed too,” he added. The boy’s table tennis team threaded the needle against HKIS at WAB, winning by a narrow one point. An unconventional tournament format meant that the six members on the APAC squad had to be split into two teams of three, playing other teams of three towards an aggregate school score in a best of five format. There was no bracket play, rather, teams accrued points by winning matches – one point per win and none for a loss. As the tournament approached its eleventh hour, the combined SASPX teams had a one-point lead on HKIS. Playing against their Pudong counterparts, the team had to win at least one of their final two matches if they wanted to retain their APAC title. The team lost a reportedly pugnacious, and close, doubles match in which three players were given yellow cards for bad sportsmanship. It was up to Daniel to deliver the team their victory, and they were ecstatic when he did. “It is really hard to describe how excited I was when we won,” said Jon Shih, a junior on the team. “Especially after that toxic doubles match, I’m just so glad we won.” That was the team event. There were also singles and doubles brackets, but this year’s team didn’t excel in either of those. Chris Shih and Myles Zhou, both seniors, finished sixth in the doubles rankings, and they “didn’t expect much more,” said Chris. Nonetheless, the team shifted the tides to work in their favor, even against better individual players. “We do not have players with the best individual skill,” said Chris, who also is this year’s captain. “We are strongest as a team, and I think our win for the school really shows that.”   The rest of the tournament typified a good experience for Chris. “Super performance from everyone on the team, it was much better than the coach’s expectations,” he said. “There was also a lot of laughter and positivity, and I will miss it next year for sure.”

The girl’s APAC followed an identical tournament format. In the team event they placed third, and they had some well-deserved singles and doubles results. Aily Nishioka, the senior captain of the team, had a remarkable fourth place finish in the singles event. In a surprising twist, all six of the players made it past their preliminary rounds in the doubles event, effectively making almost forty percent of the final playoff bracket SASPX. “It was really exciting when all six of our players made it into the championship bracket for doubles,” said Shannon Ooi, a sophomore. “It turned out to be our strongest event.”

While they were not as successful as the boys in the team event, by no means did they not perform well. “Everyone tried their best and played at their finest level, said Chu Chuan Wu, a senior. “Aily was also constantly there leading the team and motivating the players.” When they weren’t ping ponging balls across the net, the team glued well and spent the majority of their free time with each other. “We definitely had a lot of team bonding during the event,” said Chu Chuan. “During lunch, dinner, bus rides, and in the room.”

      On Thursday, January 24th, SAS Puxi hosted the opening ceremony of APAC Forensics, kicking off a week of exciting debates, impassioned performances, and speeches that touched, provoked, and impacted. SAS Puxi went into the event with heavy expectations on their shoulders, being the defending APAC champions for the fourth year in a row. Moreover, the team went in with a certain degree of trepidation – the team lost 6 seniors last year, all of whom were experts in their field of performance.

"We had no idea what to expect going into APAC. In previous years, our team had been about equally strong across the board, but our team composition this year was almost entirely new," remarks senior Matt Song, with senior Marcus Khoo adding that "[they] stood on the shoulders of giants" in past years, but now had to face an uncertain competition without the alumni.

In spite of this, however, the Puxi Forensics team practiced endlessly and adapted, walking out of the tournament as champions for the 5th year in a row! Remarkably, the young team achieved great success with "at least one finalist in every category, and all three speakers broke to finals for Extemporaneous and Impromptu speaking," according to Matt Song. This was particularly impressive given that despite most members in impromptu being new to APAC forensics, all got into finals. These points were all fundamental in allowing Puxi to edge past Concordia to claim the championship title.

Particularly, junior Ted Chang shone, with him managing to place in Solo Acting despite having been "put out of his comfort zone" in an event completely new to him, according to Marcus Khoo. He also placed in the finals of Debate, and as 2nd best individual speaker in each event. Additional individual highlights include Marcus Khoo winning debate and placing second in impromptu, Annelise Vella placing in finals for both Original Oratory and Solo Acting, and Matt Song placing 3rd in Impromptu and winning the title of champion and best speaker in debate.

Marcus Khoo and Matt Song jointly swept through the debate tournament, winning the vote of every judge they presented to. In addition to these stand out performances though, Matt Song also remarks that "we retained consistency across other events as well, and every single one of our speakers had cause for pride in this tournament.” Although the team will be losing two seniors, (Matt and Marcus), this year's APAC has proven that the juniors and underclassmen have what it takes to continue to Puxi legacy of winning APAC. "It's a really really great thing to see the that the younger members of the team are rising up to the occasion, especially given that we lost a lot of specialists in events over the last couple of years," remarks Marcus. If this year's performances are anything to go by, we can be sure that SAS Puxi Forensics will continue to harness words and emotions to delight, entertain, and ultimately compete.

SAS SWIM TEAM FINISHES STRONG AT APAC:

BOYS 3RD, GIRLS 4TH OVERALL

The SAS swim team delivered an impressive performance at this year’s APAC Swimming Championships, held at WAB. There were new records, top-place finishes, and personal bests abound on both the boys’ and girls’ teams.

The boy’s team finished strong in 3rd place. Freshman Rafael Gu delivered a truly outstanding performance, smashing previous APAC records in all five of his events; he currently holds the APAC swimming records for 100 free (49.79 seconds), 50 back (26.28), 100 IM (57.68), 100 back (57.03), and 200 free (1:49.49). “I felt like there were parts of my race that needed a little more polishing,” Gu remarks, “but overall I am proud of my times and performance.” Gu and juniors Nolan Liu, and Barron Han, and Brian Lung also broke the previous APAC record in the boys’ 4x50 medley relay, placing second behind the ISB team. “We all swam personal bests,” says Han. “ISB just beat us for the gold.” Other highlights include Liu’s first place finishes in 100 and 50 fly, as well as Liu and Han placing second and third respectively in 200 IM.

The girl’s team also delivered a solid performance, placing 4th overall. Sophomore Annalie Yu broke her own APAC record for 50 back during the prelims, and went on to place second in the official event. Yu also placed second for 50 free and third for the 100 back event. In addition, sophomore Ava Romanelli, junior Jacqueline Cheng, and seniors Renee Pearce and Meilee Sharan came in third place for the 200 free relay. “We went beyond our expectations,” says Cheng. Other notable finishes include sophomore Emelie Edberg placing third for 50 breast and Yu, Sharan, Edberg, and senior Annie Chen’s combined 4th place finish in the 200 medley relay.

Beyond their times and placements, the SAS swim team is connected by their shared grit and perseverance, which has taken them far in their own performances as well as their support of each other. “When we’re walking to the blocks we can see and hear our teammates in the stands cheering us on,” says Cheng, adding: “I’m proud of the resilience of our team. Sometimes we do run into challenges…but we have the ability to reunite and encourage each other.” Gu agrees: “Even though our team was struggling to get a high ranking, we didn't give up and we kept on trying our best.”

Super APAC Basketball

Varsity Girls Takes 3rd Place, and Varsity Boys Finishes 7th

This year, Super APAC basketball took place at HKIS for boys and Concordia for girls, and both teams fought admirably in tough games to end the season.

Despite a finishing second in their group after the initial round robin, the Varsity Girls advanced to the semifinals with tough wins against worthy competition. In the first round of elimination, the team came out with a 46-45 win over SFS behind an explosive 15-point quarter from Alice Qin. In the quarterfinals, the Varsity Girls upset the defending APAC champions, SAS Pudong, after tremendous shooting performances from Kaitlyn Shi (5 threes) and Julia Markmann. Unfortunately, the team fell to Brent in the semifinals after Brent was able to pull away late in the 4th quarter. Even with the tough loss, they redeemed themselves in a 37-31 win against AISG to secure a third place finish. 

Julia Markmann also became the all-time leading scorer for the SASPX Girls Basketball program, breaking alumni Candice Choi’s record after the third game of the tournament.

Although it was an imperfect finish to the season, the growth that the team underwent outweighed the end results. “Even though we started the season with many losses— at one point having a 7-game losing streak— we came back and didn’t stop playing.” Julia Markmann said. “The whole team improved and stepped up their game.”

“We lost in the semifinals, but we finished with a huge win” Julia concluded. “I’m glad to have been able to experience our mass improvement from the first game to the last game we played.”

The Varsity boys started the tournament with an impressive 48-31 win over ISB in the round robin game, but fell to Brent to finish as a second seed in their group. After blowing out UNIS in a 55-24 win in the first round of elimination, the team unfortunately fell to HKIS in a 5-point loss in the quarter finals. The team had another tough 10-point loss against SFS to drop to the 7/8 game, but finished with a 27-point win against WAB to place 7th in the tournament.  

The team obviously fell short of its goals, but it continued to play its hardest. “We kept on playing strong and finished each game with all our efforts.” Lucas Meyring said. “We went into each game with a positive mindset thinking that we are not going to back down from any challenge.”

The tournament was also an event that extended beyond the activities on the court. “Other than basketball, APAC was the perfect opportunity for team bonding.” Lucas explained. “I learned a lot about my teammates, not just as basketball players, but as people off the court, and hopefully our relationship will carry on through the future.”

The JV teams also experienced success in their end-of-season tournament. The JV boys finished first in JAPAC while the JV girls finished third.

The final stretch before playoffs has begun and there are several teams fighting for their shot at playoffs

This week brought some surprises and some very close games. There are no longer any teams that are undefeated after this week which means the pressure for a perfect season is off and now the fun can really begin. These games are very close and everyone has a chance to have a strong finish to the season, but lets jump into the playoff picture and how the teams can make playoffs

Rhyhorn Steakhouse Division

There are so many varients of how this can go im only going to cover how each team can hit number 1 and get the first round bye

MID: Win out/ better record than BAL and the division will guarentee 1st round bye

2 wins guarentees 1/2 in division

BAL: win out = 2nd in division unless record tied with MID then 1

MIN: to get first win out, MID loses 2, BAL loses 1 and MIL loses 1

DCC: to get first win out, MID loses 2, MIN loses 1

MIL: to get frist win out, MID lose out, and DCC loses 1

AUK needs to win out get to 7-5 based off breakers it is very likely that 6-6 will not be good enough to make playoffs for AUK

To show how crazy this can get, after the next two weeks the rhyhorn steakhouse could have 5 teams with a 8-3 record. That would make it where a best of the rest team could have a better record than some of the divisional teams. This goes to show that the Rhyhorn steakhouse is not to be trifled with.

With only 2 weeks left for trades everyone seems to be slowing down as we only 1 trade this week

  The Salt Lake Combees trade Landorus-T to the Detroit Pyroars for Zygarde 50%. I think this can benefit both teams as they are trading 1 monster in the format for another. Both have a 4x ice weakness and can set up so there isnt much difference other than the utility of each mon which is up to the coaches to utilize.

  There have been a lot of teams that have proved themselves over the past few weeks. DCC started 0-3 and is now 6-3 and near the top of the standings. This only goes to show that the season ends only when you give up and with hard work and determination you can make a difference and climb the ladder to the top of the league. This is just one success story of how teams are improving and that no one should be counted out until the final mon goes down. Keep up the good work and we will see you next week.

Interview with The Seth Vilo

This week I’m joined by the stall master himself Seth Vilo!

Clod9: Thank you Seth Vilo for joining us this week. Let’s start at the beginning: how did you prepare for this draft?

Seth Vilo: I prepared by doing thorough planning about this season’s evil plans. How would I change up my normal team strategy and keep it interesting? How could I resurrect Gen IV teams I had made so long ago? I had the plan ready for Draft Day, only to watch as the linchpins of Flygon and Scizor were taken from my evil grasp. Soooo I reverted to my normal team style with a couple fun new things. In picking the S-tier, I looked up at my girlfriend who was already bored of me staring at a computer for hours drafting, and asked “should I take the fluffy Dragon, or the jet plane Dragon?” So that’s how I started with Mega-Altaria. “Prep”.

C9: Has your team performed up to your standards so far?

SV: Yes and no. I had a lot of fun with it, which is what I was going for. Other than my battle against the utterly terrifying Fack Luigi, I never felt completely unprepared. There was always a way to wriggle out of something. My wave of trades the other week was just my mood shifting; I just really, really wanted to use Latias and Breloom all of a sudden and found a way how. I’m excited to see how they do in the last 3 battles!

C9: With only 3 games to go how do you think you will fare?

SV: I think I’ll do decently! As I write this, I’m pondering how to prep against you, actually, which is my next battle at time of writing. With a few losses under my belt, I feel a lot less pressure on myself to do well, and can have more fun. It’s almost freeing, and I’m really excited!!

C9: Who are/were you most looking forward to battling this season? SV: Goodness, I’m gunna sounds like a suck-up but I really just enjoy battling anyone I’m matched up with! Newer players and older players alike, I just like having fun. That being said, I am excited to exact my revenge on Zcron…

 C9: I know I’m looking forward to battling you this week,  are there any hints you want to give the readers about our match up? SV: THE EON TWIN SHOWDOWN! Who will come out on top?? PLAAAACE YOUR BETS! But in all seriousness, I’m hoping to pull a couple secret fun ideas out of my bag of evil tricks [evil laugh].

C9: Where were/are you least looking forward to battling this season?

SV: Oh, so many people… Namely: anyone in my division, my inconsistent Wifi, the battery on my 3DS that I had to replace, even myself on what Silvally to pick this week. Did I mention my whole division? Cause my whole division. RHYHORN STEAKHOUSE!!!!

 C9: Why did you choose the team name, Miami Lanturns? SV: Here we go! I was Googling team names I could manipulate back in Season 1. I stumbled upon the Miami Dolphins logo, and with my newfound Photoshop skills took on the project of replacing the dolphin with a favorite of mine, Lanturn. I did that, and here we are! The logo you’re seeing was redone by the amazing Ozzy, cause mine was…. Too close to the original to put on a shirt.

C9: Were there any secret techs that you brought for your matchups that you didn’t get to showcase? SV: There were a few scattered here and there of me trying to be super clever. I had a Rowap + Rain Dance Milotic against Fack Luigi, Ditto strategy in general, and even random Mirror Coat and Magic Coat on some sneaky things. Often, Silvally is my tech I bring that is least used, which is actually physically painful to type as that’s my second favorite Pokemon.

C9: Who would you say is the mon you are most excited to use on your team this year? SV: Well, given I made a billion trades the other week, right now I’d answer this question with Latias and Breloom. They are another two of my favorites and I’m super excited to find fun ways to play them. What’s that? Why yes I completed that “Favorite of Each Type” chart recently and that’s how I know this, thanks for asking!

C9: You are currently in the most brutal division with 5 of the 6 teams still in contention for number 1. How do you think your division will end up? Where do you think you will fall?

SV: RHYHORN STEAKHOUSE REPRESENT!!!! Bow before us and tremble in fear! Even if I didn’t end up contributing much except 84-turn battles… I think it’ll be decent for the Miami Lanturns, but not as strong as I’ve done before. Both good and bad, as I said earlier. With every loss brings more memes…

C9: Let’s learn about you as a Pokemon Fan. When did you start listening to PUCL?

SV: I started listening to PUCL in about February of 2017. Having gotten into the TCG heavily at the time, I was looking for something else to fill the long car rides of work. I happened upon the Sun / Moon TCG Review episode, and have been hooked ever since.

C9:What Pokemon generation did you start with?

SV: Gen 1 all the way boi!! I started on a Pokemon Blue Version that I got for Christmas one year, bundled with a brand new GameBoy. The rest is history.

C9: What is your favorite region?

SV: Hoenn all the way. Kanto is boring, Johto is okay but never really stuck for me. My most formative years in Pokemon was Ruby and Sapphire. That was also when both me and my siblings could play, what with them being old enough to speak and all, so it unlocked more levels of fun (and getting my butt handed to me by my brother’s Flygon, DARKNESS). I love the trumpets, I love the color, I love the plants, I LOVE THE WATER, and I love the pokemon introduced. #GEN3BESTGEN

C9: Who is your favorite Pokemon?

SV: Sableye all the way. It’s the Stitch of Pokemon.

C9: If you had to pick: Attack or Special Attack?

SV: It’s really mixed here… For setup, Attack all the way. The moves are so much better and more threatening. But for general nuking, (almost) nothing is better than clicking Draco Meteor and watching the opponent be reduced to a fine red mist. If I had a Remoraid to my head, I’d probably say Special Attack.

C9: What is your battle style:  Stall/Hyper Offense/Bulky Offense/Balance?

SV: Haha. But honestly, I’m not the “STALL” player I’m made out to be, says the defendant from the stand. My teams usually start with an endgame sweeper of some sort that is bulky (Zygarde, Latias-M, Clefable, etc), than a stupid bulky core is built around them. My end-game is always to whittle, and then sweep. But if you can’t break past my defensive line and I don’t have to lift a finger, that’s fine by me!

C9: Do you prefer Speed or Trick Room?

SV: Probably Trick Room, While I like a lot of fast things, it’s not my usual style. Stakatakatakatakatakataka is really fun to use, and I like generally turning the tables Old-Man’s-Chess-Game-Before-A-Bug’s-Life style.

C9: What is your favorite Weather; Hail/Sand/Rain or Sun?

SV: Rain all the way, both in Pokemon and IRL. #BackInGen5, Rain + Volcarona was one of my favorite teams to run.

C9: Electric/Misty/Grassy or Psychic Terrain?

SV: As the Grass-type gym leader, I am contractually obligated to say Grassy Terrain. It also happens to be my favorite outside of contract.

C9: Favorite status to inflict: Sleep/Freeze/Paralysis/Burn or Poison?

SV: That’s a tough battle between Burn and Badly Poisoned. I love both, Poison for “stalling”, and Burn because of its Attack-drop utility. Again with a Remoraid to my head, probably Burn.

C9: Have you watched the Pokemon anime? If yes, what is your favorite Theme song?

SV: I have watched the anime, but really need to watch it more because what I’ve seen of Sun and Moon is incredible. But question two, is that even a question? Original all the way!

C9: You are one of the Gym leaders for the PUCL Summer League, what encouraging words do you have for any potential battlers?

SV: Have fun! The Gym Leader team is all really excited to get this Summer going, and feel free to ask questions and battle again and again! The whole goal is to have fun.
