- the “cause trying to get your attention has been kinda exhausting” punches me in the gut EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS LIKE FUCK OH MY GOD BUCK LIKES MEN FR? and the way he says it GOD, like i said, he’s literally figuring this out as the words come out of his mouth (“i guess so”)

- okay my ONE nitpick about the kiss scene is that tommy grabs his chin, and then when it cuts it’s the two fingers under the chin, it’s inconsistent and i think i like the chin grab better

- the absolute STUNNED look in bucks eyes after the kiss!!! as the perfect oliver stark put it: he’s found something he’s been missing for a long time

- tommy is so worried in the split second before buck tells him that it was okay

- the wordless nod after tommy asks if it was okay THIS MEANS SO MYCH TO ME

- you can FEEL the sense of relief and wholeness radiating off of buck

- his eyes following tommy’s lips as he laughs, and then the brief look down like his whole WORLD has just been turned upside down before tommy speaks again

oh my god… i just read ‘the most dangerous game’ on ao3 and while i was at the part of where jade pretends to be floyd while they… ya know 🥴

i was listening to phantom of the opera’s ‘medley : down once more / and track down this murderer’. and i just wanna you to know the heavenly experience i had cause OH MY LAWD

(~5:35 in the song, which is the duet/ trio between the phantom, raoul [love interest] and christine [main girl] )

and i LOVE how beautifully it connects. with reader’s confusion about their sudden flooding thoughts of jade. why they keep thinking about him even though they’re WITH floyd

while jade is going to the ‘point of no return,’ he literally cant go back. hes pretending to be his brother to 1. plant more jade shaped seeds in their head & 2. HES LITERALLY FUCKING THEM AS HIS BROTHER WHO HE KNOWS THEY HAVE A CRUSH ON. so yeah: he’s literally crossing the ‘point of no return,’ and he knows that. that this will either work out, or horrifically blow up in his face. but that’s only if you found out ☝️😲

my favorite part is that when christine sings about the ‘angel of music.’ the man [phantom] who was there in the shadows supporting her, yearning for her, loving her obsessively to the point it scared her (jade was much more discreet but that’s not the point)

a bit later in the song she sings ‘angel of music you have deceived me’ and i LOVE how it timed up when i read it. and she goes about how ‘she gave her mind blindly’

cause that’s EXACTLY what happened. jade played and deceived reader like she was a piece on a chess board. she literally let him into her mind because she wanted floyd so badly. he literally took over her mind as her thoughts slowly started contain less floyd and more of jade.

also, in the way he deceived her; jade never was going to help them with floyd, and made that ‘contract’ under false pretenses cause this was him making his attack. (ambush hunter, and you know that man was cooking shit up for months too, maybe it got sped up when reader wanted a job at monstro)

(this song also came again when reader and jade were in the ocean 🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻 and ARGGHHH. i’m gonna lose my sanity im in love)

but also. the song before this is literally ‘the point of no return’ and reader the floyd part while listening to it was just spine chilling. but the icing on the cake for me was the medley 🤤

sorry for the long ask, but i just- i’m literally in love with your writing, the planning that goes into is just awe-inspiring. i love how you give us readers things at face value before revealing smthn HUGE but if you go back and reread you’re like ‘how the FUCK did i miss that’, or when everything gets packaged in a nice little bow (so coquette 🤭🎀)

And you're right!!! Jade was never going to help you get closer with Floyd. He was willing to entertain and enable your obsession, but that's as much as he'll do. For example ‘P1HARMONY in WORLD’ on YouTube is really comforting and fun, especially so you can get a semi-familiarness with them outside of the more traditional curated section of their life, if that makes sense! Just because personally I love the rawness of the members just whipping out a camera and being silly without bright hot lights in their faces and a general wave they have to follow. ‘HARMONY CLIP’ is also a really good playlist, there’s a lot of comfort videos in there for me, it mainly consists of vlogs from their tours, bts of their mv’s, all that fun stuff, kind of similar to in world.

‘피원모하니’ playlist has all the professionally produced videos, ex: (SAESSAK HARMONY, HARMONY FOREST, LEGENDARY MOVE, HARMONY ADVENTURE) which I’m pretty sure consists of mini games and such? I myself haven’t even made it through all the videos :,)

Ahhh also their practice videos are really entertaining to watch, if you’re wanting to get into some of their more ‘dated’ discography! ‘BFF choreography video’ and ‘BIGBANG Dance practice kcon 2023’ are my favs!

to fuel ur theatre au brainworms, in the romeo and juliet au: mercutio is bdubs + benvolio is cleo, and jimmy and joel are sampson and gregory (two capulets from the start of the play they're such dumbasses my absolute beloveds), so we've got the design philosophy of the montagues and the capulets mirroring the aesthetics of the family and the bad boysss. (I never came up with a design for bad boy!Ren when he steps in as Tybalt instead of Grian during show week but I feel it's not too hard to imagine hehe)

but also (separately from that au, because I saw other talk of the life series and theatre and plays on ur blog) I constantly think about the life series as a greek tragedy, specifically in relation to the purpose of the series' inevitable tragedy being catharsis for the watchers (with the watchers also being literally the viewers). we love to see them suffer!!! but there's also a bunch of politics surrounding greek tragedies that Plato and Aristotle had discourse about that you can rope into it and tldr; my understanding is catharsis was Aristotle's answer to Plato's concern that tragedies' emotive affect could encourage rebellion against the state, with Aristotle saying that instead the cycle of pity and fear and eventual catharsis felt by the audience has a "purifying" effect that's like an emotional release from those emotions instead. Then with the extra layer of lore the fandom has surrounding Grian running away from the watchers, if Grian designs the life games, to the end of sating the watchers' need to emotionally feed (thank you Martyn for that piece of lore I'm stealing it jkfhdsk), the purpose of the games could be the cleansing of the watchers' discomfort with him running away and being a player and maintaining the status quo where Grian is actually the one in control !!!! even if he makes himself suffer. also different characters "curses" as their harmatia!! And, if we interpret the watchers as a fictional force AND the viewers simultaneously, then the chorus could absolutely be watchers who are vocal in the fandom - removed from the "players" (and OH how I love the dual meaning of minecraft players and players as in actors) but providing additional commentary and insight into what's happening that further feeds the emotional experience of the audience !!

alsooooo if you don't know the show "& Juliet" scar and grian are ALSO romeo and juliet in that to me, it's their last life/early double life era </3

how come you’re so crazy about kikuno? asking as someone who only knows her from arena

honestly anon a good 50% of it is “i literally don’t know”. maybe it’s the fact that she’s so underrated that kind of stokes my obsession a little? the other half of it is well. not even so much just her roles in each story she’s involved in but just general stuff about her as a character beyond that. i’ll give my general reasonings

(beneath a cut because wow i started rambling really hard)

im a sucker for the general trope of an utterly devoted character that serves under another, potentially to the point of viewing themselves as a tool. combine that with the general aesthetic of a battle maid and im pretty much sold.

further combine that with a devotion so sincere that it corrupts, and you have me acting up. kikuno being so hellbent on setting mitsuru free of her family’s burdens that she is willing to sacrifice the entirety of sees for it, that she goes as far as drugging her so she might sleep through it all, was just insanely interesting to me. kikuno clearly despises takedera, thinks lowly of him, but joins forces with him for the good of providing peace to the person dearest to her, even at the risk of being hated by her.

she also technically falls under that other trope i like where she has a history of being a lab experiment. which i sorely wish they would’ve done more with! the horrifying implications of a child that was sold to ergo research!! a survivor of that dark hour experimentation that’s effect is typically known only through strega (and eventually sho by extension). takedera threatening her with returning to those experiments is a genuine hair raising moment to me. she’s the type of character you imagine would have a persona, but she never seems to awaken to one, only having the potential to interact with the dark hour.

shes also outright a cool addition to exploring more of mitsuru’s backstory and home life. the drama cd in general gives insight to mitsuru as a child and i came away feeling even more fondness for a character i already love intensely. (seriously, kikuno describing their first meeting and how much of a little shit mitsuru was about trying to make friends with a withdrawn and bitter kikuno…so sweet)

i just really get the sense that the writers have a fondness for her. she almost feels like someone’s oc. she’s practically a main character in the drama cd she originates from, she briefly cameos in a later drama cd promoting the movies (and has a brief appearance in the movies!!!!), then goes from loose mention in the first arena game to a fully visually implemented character in ultimax with portraits and voicework, and later she’s portrayed in the stageplay based on ultimax. surely you could chalk a ton of this up to needing a plot-furthering character and kikuno as a pre-existing concept would more often than not fit the bill but i like to imagine she’s just a Well Loved side character. i sincerely hope that love persists into reload. im DYING to see her again, even if it’s just a brief moment.

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH HER. in the second scene shes in she tells the limo driver escorting her and mitsuru to the manor to run over a crowd. shes like an angry attack dog for the first half of new moon that mitsuru needs to tell to relax. she fucking pretends to break a ring that normal people use to access the dark hour, acts like she loses all of her memories in the past 6 years to takedera AND TO MITSURU BEFORE BEING LIKE OH LOL IM FINE BTW. IVE ALWAYS HAD ACCESS TO THE DARK HOUR I JUST PRETENDED TO USE THE RING AND NEVER TOLD YOU ABOUT IT. she blows up the iwatodai dorm kitchen because she impulsively came over to help bake something as an apology to mitsuru, and doesn’t tell anyone that she’s never cooked before until after there is a fire. when mitsuru requests a beach-related activity for the senpai squad to partake in she sends an entire cruise ship to them. in arena she intentionally leaves the top open on the artificial dark hour-inducing box so that the police investigators handling the materials snoop into it, trigger it, and get attacked. she stays On Site in a damaged helicopter during ultimax so she can shoot down and blow up shadows and smiles and winks while she does it like she’s having the time of her life.

its not anything New i guess but the way she carries herself does kill me. woman who behaves so put together but is so not. she wants to commit unspeakable violence. shes smug and cunning. also she can be incredibly fucking stupid and i chalk that up to having grown up somewhat sheltered in the same manner as mitsuru. the perfect woman i think

gay ass homosexual woman. if a relationship in p3 is paralleled with junpei and chidori it’s so over that’s them telling you something gay is happening. you cannot refer to somebody as “the one destined for you” and be not gay about it. it does not help that she then compares herself to yukari who is also ridiculously gay with mitsuru. it’s also like why are you as a woman revolving your life’s work around providing comfort and peace to another woman. she’s ridiculous get me out of here.

her arena design is like catnip for me. what is she so dykey for!? her fucking chest harness....

another thing is like just generally the Potential she holds as a character. i would've liked to see her directly encounter more members of sees beyond her first appearance. i think her and yukari's dynamic in particular is really funny just based on the last bit of dialogue between them in nm/fm. something about the kinda one-sided like. kinship kikuno appears to have with her and like i wanted to see how yukari would further deal with her and her antics but they dont really interact on character developing-based terms in ultimax....i like to think about them anyways. ive also manifested the concept of strega being loosely aware of her from their time as child experiments under the kirijo group, particularly ive been wanting to try writing or drawing something grounded in the dynamic between her and chidori consisting of how differently the two ended up and how that might create further tension than what we got in their brief canon interaction...im just Rambling at this point but its genuinely a big part of her appeal to me.

well while im here. i feel like there might be this impression that i ship kikuno with either yukari or mitsuru but like generally speaking i find it hard to put into words what the deal is. i dont really consider either of them in a romantic relationship with her and yet there is some kind of psuedo-polycule shit going on there in my brain. i dont pair them but theyre doing gay stuff n proximity to each other. do you get it. its like two married women and the maid that they do yuri shit with

she sucks a little bit and also shes so awesome. im her biggest fan. thats all

You were in your late twenties, and you had to sit with a fake smile on your face as your younger sister gushed over finding her soulmate. In between gushing over them, she kept talking about how great the food smelled, how crazy it was to feel the wind blow through her hair, and how good potato chips tasted.

“I had no idea smell and taste were this amazing,” Karina whined as she quickly devoured her sandwich from the cafe. She was a sophomore in college and you worked down the street. When she called crying an hour ago you immediately called out from your job to meet her at the local cafe only to then learn that was crying was tears of joy.

“I’m so happy for you,” you smiled, hoping it didn’t sound forced.

Karina placed her hand over yours on the table, and her eyes bugged out, “sis, you need to wear moisturizer!”

You had tried all of the dating apps in an attempt to locate your soulmate. While casual dating was a thing, most people didn’t get married to someone who was not their soulmate unless they felt either really desperate or just did not care. You were starting to feel the former.

“Is that supposed to make me feel better?” You sighed, leaning back in your office chair and stretching your back. Shotaro raised his eyebrows in a do you want my help or not way.

“There’s more to life than just having a soulmate!” you countered.

“You’re right, buuut maybe just having a friend around our age who hasn’t found theirs might be…. Nice? Plus my partner and I could really have another person join our dungeons and dragons games,” Shotaro lowered his voice on the last part, and you playfully shoved his shoulder.

Shotaro decided to act as the intermediary between the two of you. It's extremely rare for a soulmates senses to come alive via just texting, but a few cases have come about. Shotaro had instructed you to wear a red top to the coffee house, and he said his friend will also be wearing one.

You were perched in the coffee house, your unflavored coffee set in front of you (why pay for sweetness when you can't even taste it?), your fuzzy red long sleeve sitting on your figure awkwardly. Your sister and her girlfriend had only been together for barely a month now, but they could not stop obsessively posting each other for everyone to see. You must admit- they were cute together.

You put your phone down, sighing as you lifted your coffee cup to your lips. You looked towards the door, watching as a tall man entered, a red shirt hanging loosely off his shoulders (It was obvious that, like you, he didn't have a lot of shirt options- thanks Shotaro). Gosh, this coffee tastes terrible- wait. You jumped in your seat, covering your pants in hot coffee.

Tastes. Heat.

The coffeehouse smell permeated your senses- the coffee beans, the cologne of the other patrons all assaulted your nostrils. You were overwhelmed, slapping stacks of napkins onto your thighs in an attempt to take off the liquid and not embarrass yourself any further.

"Holy shit," was Sungchan's first words to you as he quickly ran to your side and helped dab the coffee off. "Wow it's... hot."

Your eyes met at the realization. You lifted a free hand, meeting his gaze to squeeze his cheek, feeling his skin against yours and wow it just felt right even if it was just a squeeze. He smiled, his hand moving to meet yours on his own cheek.

"Huh, that feels pretty nice," he admitted before pausing, "wait, you're Shotaro's co-worker, right?"

"Yep, and apparently your soulmate."

He furrowed his eyebrows, a sly smile on his face. “I can’t believe Shotaro got us together by accident.”

i also thought of this. what if the player, who was already in the game for quite a while, broke down in front of the idols? because while the attention may all be pleasing at first, no doubt they'll get overwhelmed sooner or later. i think there are multiple types of reactions: those who feel pity, those who blame themselves, those who blame others, and those who take advantage of your weakened state. I WONDER IF I MISSED SOME... i would absolutely love to hear your thoughts about this.

He´s such an interesting and complex character so I can´t help but be a bit scared that I´m going to write him a bit out of character. So this reassurance is just really really nice! A very special boy🥺 I also wish that there was more content for him ( or yandere enstars in general) but I´ll just have to put in the effort myself and deliver ^^

Who would I stick to if I was transported into the world of enstars? Also some characters reacting to the player breaking down after having to deal with all of their affections for so long

Hm who would I stick to if I got into the game? Anzu and Arashi are good choices, I agree. They´re both nice and doting towards you and they aren´t as intimidating as some of the other idols, just very approachable! I think Ra*bits and Ryuseitai as a whole are pretty safe to be around. Even when they´re yandere I feel like their behavior would be pretty tame compared to the others and they would be so nice to you! Nazuna and Chiaki in particular love to help you and are always there for you if you need assistance with anything.

I mean how are you supposed to be uncomforabtle around someone as open and passionate as Chiaki? He´s such a great guy!

Trickstar also feels pretty safe though I feel Subaru might drag the whole lot of them down a bit because of his antics sometimes fjsbf like he´s nice and all but I feel like he would be pretty overwhelming to be around after some time. Consider how he is in canon and then imagine him literally being obsessed with you 🙃 Makoto also is a stuttering awkward mess around you so it might be a little hard to hold a conversation but he´s not the problem here

Would definitely stay away from Eichi, Ibara,Tori, Izumi, Rinne and Shu though. Like, I love you my pink haired blorbo but he´s either kind of harsh and rude or he´s so obviously obsessed with you that you´d start to feel stifled and uncomfortable real quick

And yeah honestly, while the attention would be nice at first, it would get very overwhelming really quick. Like all of these people swarming around you all the time and especially when you find out about their yandere tendecies you would want to get out of this very fast. You have literal *stalkers* here at ES and people who would murder to have you to themselves. That´s fucking scary

The breakdown is inevitable at this point, the only question is how many people would be around to see it happen.

I haven´t written anything for him in a long time and that needs to change so, Natsume! He would definitely use this to his advantage though he also kind of pushes the guilt onto the others having wronged you instead of recognizing that he too played a part in this. Goes up to comfort you by putting a hand on your shoulder and telling you how sorry he is that everyone has been bothering you so much. He knows some secret places inside the building so why don´t you to with him to a place no one else knows of? He really is so sorry about all of this but it seems like that´s the only way for you be safe from all of these pesky idols :/

Mika feels kind of guilty about this entire thing, probably aware that his stalking didn´t help your mental state but he also just can´t stop doing it. He knows he´s not worthy of your love yet but he still needs his daily dose of being near you and watching you! So he isn´t really going to stop with any of his creepy behavior..... He may get a little feral though once he learns that all of the other people at ES have been bothering you. None of them are worthy of you either so maybe he needs to take matters into his own hands to deal with them

Honestly Nazuna´s yandere behavior is just going to get worse from this. He´s already the protective worrywart kind of person so to see you break down like this hurts a lot to see. It kind of reminds him of himself and how he felt in the past and he feels truly bad that he contributed to your pain even though he only meant well. The way he feels about you isn´t right, he knows, but now that your mental state has spiralled like this, the urge to protect you and make sure you´re okay has just gotten stronger. He knows he´s no saint in this entire ordeal but there are even worse threats in all of this. His utmost priority will be keeping people like Izumi or Kaoru away from you.

I literally have so many for Noah that im sure people think I have them for everyone in the game but Im just so obsessed with this pixel man I've created so many scenarios in my head in my playthroughs.

OK for baby challenge...I have one I imagine often when I play his route...it's the pool scene!! where they're talking about how his brother is a swimmer....I always imagine they're sitting close here at the edge of the pool, talking for what seems like such a short amount of time but in reality it's been hours. the other couples are all knackered out from being on baby duty so no one is really paying attention to them. Hope and MC's partner are hiding from the responsibility of parenthood because neither are too keen on the idea. So in a villa with so many people it feels deserted and like theyre the only ones around. As they talk their hands start to drift closer, to a point where their fingers touch. neither dares to move their hand and the tension is intense. there comes a point where theyre talking so close that it actually feels like they might kiss....but then Hope walks out of the villa, calling out to Noah. They break apart awkwardly and he runs off to find out what she needs. but he cant help but look back at her wistfully. mc can see the very clear dilemma Noah is facing all over his face.

I can see where you're coming from with Page of Hope, but for Joey I think ultimately he'd be a Witch of Void. So much of his actual motivations and desires just resolve around creation; creation of stories and characters, creation animations and films, creation of a good life for him to live with his friends. And his lack of believing in limits is what really captures Void over Space I believe.

Henry would be a Knight of Blood. For his family, for his friends, he will stop at no ends to protect them, even using himself as the sacrifice if need be. (and in the case of actual heckin game, literally uses his blood as a weapon.) His bonds make him stronger, and he uses every ounce of that strength to give back to those same people who gave him power in the first place, a perfect loop.

For Jack, Sylph of Life. Jack has really taken up the position of Ultimate Healer in the group, in healing itself, but also in like... emotional healing, and helping people who really never thought they could live normal lives do such a thing. He's made food, comfort, a home, and doesn't stop making these things in abundance for those around him.

I gave Sammy and Prophet two different classes, but they share an aspect: Sammy is the Mage of Doom, and Prophet is the Seer of Doom. Not only is both of these being in the 'prophet' classes funny, but I think works very well based on their actions. So much of what Sammy does is based on survival instincts, but he's also one to actually accept losses when they happen and learn from them. More than others around him, he accepts that he might not actually be good at most things, and focuses better on what he can be good at, basically using his own doom as a power source to grow stronger. Meanwhile, Prophet is very obsessed with the doom of others in sacrifice for himself, deciding that he will not fail where others surely will. And he literally gets visions of doom that he uses to help prevent it so. Yeah.

Susie is a Maid of Breath; unable to be held down or back. She does what she wishes and goes where she pleases, and her strength comes from doing just that, being her own person and building upon everything she's worked for up until this point.

Peter is a Rogue of Light; You might think Mind would be more fitting for Peter, but he's more about the truth and the information itself, and the thinking things through comes as an effect of that. He's also very much an unstoppable force when it comes to gathering those truths, immediately turning to using his ghost powers to continue his work once he got them. And of course, he uses those to benefit those around him, whether it's the general public or just his friends.

I feel like Bendy the Lurker would fit in better as a like, sprite, but for funsies, treats him like a cherub and gives him Lord of Space. Not much thought has been put into this beyond being able to transform himself, since again, I think he'd work better as a sprite like companion, but y'know. Love this lil guy.

I could probably nitpick out more of the smaller characters, but we haven't spent as much time with them as these. (Well, we've spent a lot of time with Norman but half the time we do he's hiding or unable to speak so) Maybe after session 4 I will have more thoughts, but for now, here are the main characters.

Hello dear followers of mine (with rizz). I decided with love to share some of my silly art tips and tricks. I love teaching people new things or just being of some sort of help, so I hope this silly goofy series of posts helps someone!

Today's soup tip deals with the greatest evil of mankind:

H a n d s.

It goes without saying that it takes practice and time, and truly it really does take practice and time, you're not going to master anything overnight, and drawing hands are definitely not an exception. I'm not incredible at drawing hands in any way, there's plenty I could improve on in the hands department, but for the most part I think I do pretty well.

It definitely took practice and years of hard work, but here's some little things I found made drawing hands easier for me!

1. FNAF - yes. As a gen z kid growing up, I, like many others of my age, became obsessed with FNAF. I continue to be a huge fan of the games and keep up with the lore for the most part but the most important thing about this is Sister Location! Sister location's animatronics have newer features and characters with slightly more human design. This includes the hands!

Baby is a great example, as you can see her hands pretty well. The hands for the most part are a pretty good model of a deconstructed hand. It's not perfect, but it definitely works! So yes I am telling you to try drawing animatronic hands because they will definitely help give you an idea of how hands should look.

2. Using your own hands - sometimes you just can't find the right reference image or you need something in the right angle. Congratulations you have a free and easy to use tool right at your finger tips. Literally! I like to use my phone and pose my hand however I want and take a picture and use that as a reference. It also helps if you take that picture and mark it up to help you. I've used my own hand many times before and I usually find it much easier to draw my own hand than one i find on Pinterest. You could also mark up your hand with washable marker.

3. Practicing some basic exercises - boring but unfortunately true. I found a few quick drawing exercises extremely helpful, specifically drawing boxes in perspective and filling a page with ellipses. This is a good tip for drawing ANYTHING.

Another thing I found helpful was drawing things in real life. So yeah grab your favorite coffee mug or Paul Stanley funko pop and prop it up somewhere and try drawing it to the best of your ability. Try figuring out how to break it down into simple 3D shapes, how to shade certain areas, etc.

A good tip for this is to use your pencil and eye to measure. You might be familiar with movies or shows where the artist uses their pencil or paintbrush or thumb to measure something and that's exactly what im talking about here. Try to measure using your eye and a pencil as a guide. It'll help you learn "how long is this part in relation to the whole object? How wide?" Etc etc. I will do a post in the future with step by step pictures of this process :3

I hope this helps someone, since these are all things that helped me over the years and recently, but if it doesn't work for you, something eventually will. Different things work for different people. 🧡

The Calling (Episode Five) - I think it's such a terrific episode that does so much to change the game. We hear Elliot speak for the first time, we see Maura's father in full the first time, Sebastian reveals his true allegiances, we get that AMAZING scene where time stops (and honestly we don't even know in full how that actually fucking worked now that I think about that, like did Elliot stop time or did Maura control the simulation herself?)... plus, the imagery of the passengers leaping from the ship is so much and so terrifying. The loss of both Yuk Je and Krester hurts so much at this point in the show. And also amidst all this plot, we also still get so many character beats - Jérôme going to protect Lucien and Clémence, Ramiro and Ángel reconciling, Maura and Eyk being honest with each other, and Olek and Ling Yi's relationship really becoming important. I love it. It's a powerhouse of an episode.

The Ship (Episode One) - To get a mystery box show right, you need to crush the pilot episode, and boy does 1899 ever! The imagery in the first couple of minutes immediately sets up the tone of the show. Emily immediately kills it as Maura, and the slow introduction of all the ensemble is so magnificent. I could talk for hours about the way that scene in the dining hall is written and shot, especially how that scene with the cups immediately tells you something is Inherently Wrong with this ship. The slow burn to finding the Prometheus, as well as what happens when they get on the ship? Amazing. Plus the way the show tells us exactly what's happening on the show both with Ada talking to Tove and the goddamn last word we hear in the final montage's music - "remember" - shows us Bo and Jantje knew what they were doing.

The Boy (Episode Two) - This episode is high for a lot of personal reasons as One Might Guess, but we'll get to that in a minute. I love the way they build up Eyk's character. Andreas is an incredible actor and I just love the way he sets up not only Eyk's grief and trauma but exactly who he is as a person. Another acting highlight is Fflynn as Elliot - he's so creepy but his performance is also really goddamn sophisticated for him being a literal child. On the subject of key scenes, I also love that this episode has Jérôme and Clémence's first meeting - they're such a fascinating duo and their first scene is loaded with such tension. And of course, I love the Ramiro/Ángel of it all, but my favorite moment is that brief scene of them where Ángel is watching Ramiro sleep as Anker's prayer plays over it because I do think that was setting some stuff up.

The Storm (Episode Seven) - This episode is such a gut punch in the best way. The stakes are so high and even if we know that the characters we lose aren't necessarily gone because of the simulation, it still hurts to watch all those death scenes. Anker's decision to stay with Iben, Olek dying after promising Ling Yi she'd live, Franz sacrificing himself for Tove... and of course, Ramiro losing Ángel all make it such a perfect human tragedy against the sci-fi backdrop. Add in the conflict with Maura, Henry, Daniel, and Sebastian, and you've got a perfect episode of TV. The ending of the Kerberos going into the archive is also just such damn good visuals.

The Fight (Episode Four) - While I absolutely despise the character, I cannot help but love Maria's performance as Iben, and I feel like this episode is her showcase. What a pitch perfect performance. I also am obsessed with Jérôme, so getting to see his story and his character flourish in this episode is just catnip for me, especially since Yann is one of the strongest performers in an already strong group. The Jérôme/Clémence "romance" is also so well done, and I love seeing that instant connection blossom more. Plus, the dynamic duo of Eyk and Ramiro is excellent, as is seeing Ramiro getting to take on a more active role in the narrative (if only we had better footage of him kicking Franz's ass!). Also the Krester and Ángel moment is such a powerhouse, but that's a meta for another time.

Favorite Scenes!!

The Ramiro and Anker confession scene. Look, I could sit here all day and talk about why this scene is brilliant, but at the core it is so much about human connection and understanding, even if they can't understand how similar they both are. Also the acting makes me scream.

I am only allowing myself one (1) Ramiro/Ángel scene on this list and for me the scene is their pseudo-breakup in episode three. José absolutely destroys me in this scene and you can feel Ramiro's desperation and anguish just pouring off the screen. It also represents such a key moment for Ramiro, my beloved, so I have to put this on here.

The dining room scene. I love Rosalie's performance as Virginia so much and the way this scene weaves in setting her up for something as well as introduces us to the key first class ensemble players is so much. Plus, I do think the moment of them all lifting their cups at the same time is just such an excellent way of setting up something being Wrong before the Prometheus even enters the picture.

Clémence and Tove in episode six. I love Clémence and the idea of her bristling at the life she's been forced into - one where she's married to a man she does not love, who mistreats her, and where she's undoubtably expected to have children - sets up so much for her character and illustrates why she makes the choices she does throughout the series. I also just love her look with the pants.

This is so hard for me but I think I have to give this to a section of an episode - the characters going through the different memories in episode 8. I love that Clémence and Jérôme hear Lucien and try to help him (also how did they escape???). I love that Ramiro and Ling Yi are teamed up in this scene - the fact they're holding hands kills me, they're besties - and then I love how the voices of their love interests lead them out of the memories and back to the ship. It's such a good sequence!

Bonus sixth scene - The final scene with Maura and Daniel. I cry every time.

Currently watching: Two things mainly;

I'm currently binging and trying to get up to date on Viva La Dirt League's NPC D&D campaign, the vldl crew are friends of my work and the DM for this games (Rob Hartley) dm'd the game that Aestereoth first debuted in. But also this series is literally the only dnd series I can watch/stomach. It isnt just 4hr podcasts every week. They're nice snippy 30 min episodes with cutaways to them acting out the scenes they played. It's SO FUNNY and i love these guys a lot :3 can't wait to catch up so i can draw them finally haha

Secondly is my partner and I are watching thru all of Card Captor Sakura!! :D They watched the localised version as a kid so it's important to them but they hadn't seen the unedited japanese version ever so we get to watch it for the first time together. It's just so cute and wholesome and silly and jkahsdkjahd good comfy anime. Fucked up in places like all good anime should be but like overall... 10/10 snuggle anime.
